Where Fitness Feels Like Family! Forma Gym isn't just a place to work out--it's a community that truly feels like family, and for me, that's literal since my son is the Assistant GM here! From the moment you walk in, the team greets you with warmth and genuine care. The equipment is spotless and well-maintained, and while the space isn't massive, it's packed with variety: outdoor machines, swimming, group classes, free weights, spa services, and even personal training. Need rehab? They've got MORE Physical Therapy right on-site! My favorite time is early mornings when the gym is calm and focused. Watching dedicated swimmers and inspiring retirees crush their routines motivates me to push harder every day. If you're looking for a gym that values people over cookie-cutter vibes, Forma Gym is the place. Bring the whole family--you'll love it here!

Ask the Community - Forma Gym

    Is there discount for seniors?

Yes, we offer a discounted rate for folks 65+ years old...

I've heard great things about your facility, I would like to know if Forma has a military/veterans rate?…

Yes we offer first responder (police/fire), active military, student and senior 65+ discounted rates...

Will you be adding reformer pilates to the San Jose location? Will be a big motivator for new memberships!

Thank you for your inquiry - in the short run we will not be adding Reformer Pilates. We had it for years (before the pandemic) and it was not well attended / used. If the demand is there we'll strongly consider it. Thanks again

Are you going to get cold plunge tubs?

We are actively discussing and looking at options... It's on our working wishlist!

Hi! Do you have any students discount?

Hi... We do not offer student discounts. We do have an awesome, $0 enrollment for the month of January :)?

Is this gym available with Silver Sneakers?

Unfortunately we aren't affiliated with Silver Sneakers...

What temperature are the infrared and steam saunas set at?

Hello Mark, as you can imagine temps vary depending how often door is open, etc. We have it set at Health Dept recommended temps - Steam Room between 110 -120 degrees, Sauna at 140 - 160 (it's not infrared)...

Is your pool heated and open year round?

The Pool is maintained and heated 24/7, 365 days a year :)...

Do you offer pilates and/yoga classes?

Hello... Yes we do, mat Pilates and Yoga. We also offer heated classes. We do not offer Pilates Reformer classes. If you have further questions please feel free to call us at 408-363-1010 - we can even set up a guest pass for you to try a class :)...

    Is there any childcare?

At our Walnut Creek location, yes. At our San Jose location, we do not...

Are there belly dancing classes offer there?

Hi... Currently we are not offering belly dance classes. We have in the past, not certain when they'll return to our schedule.

What is the pricing for membership? Do teachers get a discount?

Hello Martha, thanks for your inquiry... We have a few membership options and we do have a teacher discount on monthly dues - please call us at 408-363-1010, ask for Membership and we can pinpoint which membership is best for you :)...

    Do you have senior memberships?

Yes we do for folks 65+... Please call the gym to set up a time to see our offerings. We have senor-centric aqua and other classes. 408-363-1010

Do you need a membership for massage services?

Hello... No, non-members can book massages - of course members do get preferred pricing. Please call 408.363.1010 to schedule your massage. Thank you!

What is the membership fee and the cancellation policy? Not able to find that on the website!

They won't refund it and will revoke your membership at the first opportunity they get if they don't like you.

Is the pool still opening during covid?

    Yes

Hello, I'm a member and am really enjoying the gym. How do we request additional weight machines? Some of the machine selections are pretty limited.

That's because this gym really skimps on the equipment and prioritizes maximizing profits... especially the Walnut Creek location. That one is the worst of all.

Is there a salt water pool?

Hello Lynda, Thank you for taking the time to ask a question. Here at Forma Gym San Jose, we only…

Hi members... does anyone else shower off before entering the pool and or hot tub? I always do.I think it's rude and disgusting especially when I see people who were in the gym sweating and then go right out and jump in the pool.

I do. But, I don't see everyone else do it! Agreed!

Will barre classes be offered sometime soon?

Hi Michelle. Thank you for contacting Forma Gym. We currently have one Barre class at 9 am on Thursdays. As soon as we find more rock star instructors, we'll add more classes. Right now we only have one rock star to teach barre. We are actively…

When I tried booking it through the app, I selected it on the drop menu, but for some reason it didn't put it for me. I did pay a reduced fee, but I would think that it would know that it was my first time and automatically sign me up for it. When I got there, the instructor told me I had to pay for the socks, but I could email the manager to see if I could get a reimbursement. So the class and socks ended up costing me 40 bucks (18 for socks). For some reason the label said $14, but I was charged 18. Not sure why. First impressions - The instructor seemed nice, but the intro was literally 5 minutes long and then you were on your own. When I started at orange theory, the coach constantly checked in on me to see if I was okay and that made me feel better about starting a new workout. Honestly, I felt like a fish out of water. I had to keep looking at the other girls next to me to see what to do because the instructor was throwing out instructions and unfamiliar terms to me at the speed of light. Also, I could tell the handle bar slack was uneven, but after my friend mentioned that hers was too to the instructor, she said "oh" and that was it so I didn't speak up either. The workout - Man, this burns so good. I thought I would be prepared for it with a year of Orange Theory under my belt, but my body was not ready for it. I can see why it's such a good workout. My legs were still shaking 30 minutes after. I would be up for another class in the future. Just need more exposure to the terminology. Overall it was a great workout. Maybe not the best for someone that is completely new to it, but you got to start somewhere.

I saw multiple people look confused as to where to place things back. I asked if there were wipes so I could wipe down my station and was told that the entire studio was disinfected including every single weight, and all towels were washed. I was doubtful since some of the classes on the class schedule were back to back. So basically they're tone policing me and telling me I looked dissatisfied, and then REPORTED me over that. ****I would personally not recommend going to a studio where they ban people for asking questions and being cautious.**** I went to one class and they banned me for asking for help, which is wild. I came early with my coworker and was excited to work out with her. During the class I moved through all the movements and asked for a modification during a lunge. I also asked for help when I wasn't feeling a stretch at the end of class. The instructor simply said "well I guess you just won't feel it then" and walked away. Other than that, I did not interact with the instructor. 2 days later I received an email saying I was banned because of my "behavior toward the instructor." I think this decision was more about the instructor's ego than anything else. I definitely don't recommend coming here unless you are someone with no fitness background and would rather be in silent pain than ask for help. And don't even bother if you have any sort of problems at all! Knee injury? Back pain? "Guess you just won't feel it then." I also want to share that I had an alternative experience at a local yoga studio where I was tentative about things and despite that, everyone made me feel incredibly welcome and invited me back. Even though it wasn't my cup of tea, I gave it a fair shot and have nothing but great things to say about the studio and team there and reviewed it accordingly. It really doesn't have to end this way, but some businesses are just really feedback-averse and that's disappointing to see.

I'd heard of Lagree but never really knew what it was, and didn't even know this was Lagree going into it, but it's basically a more intense form of pilates that uses a megaformer vs the traditional one. I'm glad I had a base of already working out and trying two other similar classes before coming here, so it was a little less intimidating. I think a beginner could definitely get the hang of this, but having a good foundation felt necessary to get the full benefits of the class and workout. And of course instructor direction and examples were a big factor in succeeding in the classes as a newcomer. I've had a handful of different instructors and have definitely found the one that is more my style and more motivating to me (shout out Ankitha), but I've generally liked all of the instructors enough to go back to their classes. Finding an instructor that works for you makes all the difference though when you're powering through a touch class, which these often are. I originally signed up for their first timers offer of 4 classes for $99. Other than that, without a membership classes run at $38 per, but they have a ton of different packages and memberships that could make classes range from $11 (if you went every single day) to $30 with a larger upfront cost. I ended up getting a class pack so that I wasn't limited or expected to attend a certain number of classes a month and have really liked the flexability. They have tons of classes throughout the day and week, so finding an opening isn't too hard.

The upbeat, popular music they play adds a motivating energy that makes those tough exercises more bearable!
