PLEASE READ BEFORE CONSIDERING THIS BUSINESS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY! They gave two groomsmen the wrong colored tie and ruined our wedding photos that we spent thousands of dollars on. The standard of work between the Aurora and Orland stores is pathetic. The groomsmen who got their suits just knew a tie was present, they had no idea it was the wrong colored tie. We didn't figure out they were wrong until the groomsmen were getting ready and my husband asked one of the guys if he brought his own tie... This means they didn't even check the suits thoroughly prior to giving them out to their customers which is what they are paid to do... Prior to the wrong colored ties we were already upset we had to make a second trip the day before our wedding to pick up our suit orders that needed to be fixed due to pants with holes in the pocket, stains on multiple white shirts (including the grooms) and one order sent without the vest... Multiple people in the party had make extra trips to the stores the two days before our wedding because nothing was right the first time. All they offered in return for their HUGE mistake was half the money back for the two suits they mismatched the ties.... And the lady saying "she wanted to cry for me". At this point we should have all our money back for the lack of attention or effort put into their business when this is such an important day for their customers. Moral of the story this business did not make my wedding day any less stressful than it already was and if anything gave me more problems and stress. I will never be back. When I walk into a business, I expect to be greeted with a smile. My hope is that the people here consider the energy they give off. During prom season, we made an appointment to see tuxedos here. We had walked into a different establishment an hour prior liked what we saw, but told them that we wanted to keep our appointment here. It was a really rainy day so we could have just decided to go with what we saw, but wanted to give Formally Modern the opportunity to win our business. The energy was bad from the moment we made human contact. We (my son, husband and self) walk in, the door chimes, about 30 second passes a woman walks out (says nothing). I state we have an appointment. (2 other women come out). She then begrudgingly asks what we need. I was taken back at the choice of words and tone. My son says he is looking for a tux for prom. Another family (white) walks in, 1 of the ladies (seemingly in a better mood, now) walks over and offers to help them. Maybe they were having lunch in the back and we interrupted (we had an appointment). Maybe it was because we were in masks, but we are fully vaccinated (just cautious). Maybe it was just a long hard day for them. Not sure why the energy was negative, but it was. I eventually, asked my son if he wanted to leave. He said, "Yes. The people at the other place were just better". We immediately went back the our new friends at Black Tie in South Holland. Customer service is everything. read more

My bridal party rented tuxedos here for my wedding. Getting fitted, pick-up, and drop-off were a breeze. A few of the men even tried on what they were suggested to order, prior to the wedding. All of the tuxedos fit the men exactly how they should. I really recommend a slim fit tux/suit. Even on the bigger guys, this fit was more flattering than a classic fit. I also have to add that my brother (who was in the party) wears fine suits, daily, for work. He said that this was a quality tux. Lastly, the customer service is excellent. They are knowledgeable of their products, fashion, and current trends in formal wear. I really enjoyed getting Shannon's insight and she even offered extra advice for pocket squares for the groom (which was ivory since my dress was ivory). To Shannon, She was AWESOME! From the time that Matt took our measurements, to my wedding day, Shannon was there. Came in on a Sunday and I was expecting to be there for hours. I was in and out in about 30 mins. Half of that was do to all the great conversation we were having. Would have been out in less time. My suit was ready on the Tuesday before our Saturday wedding. Shannon made the necessary adjustments on the spot. 2 hours before my wedding I felt my jacket was a little too big even after Shannon took it in 3 inches previously. I would definitely recommend renting your wedding suit/tux at Formally Modern. I rented suits here for my wedding and the process was hassle free. Anna made it easy to pick out the suit that I was looking for and her recommendations helped everyone look sharp the day of the wedding. I had originally attempted to go through a national chain (Men's Wearhouse/Jos A Bank) as I was planning everything from out of town. I was apprehensive plan from out of town (Indianapolis) but the service at Formally Modern made the process run smoothly. I also had several out of town groomsmen who had no problem calling in their measurements and picking up their suits the day before the wedding. HORRIBLE place!! Do not even think of having them take care of your event. Their customer service was tip of the notch up until the day of the wedding. Messed up measurements for multiple groomsmen. My vest was missing a button and I had to get it fixed by someone else and pay more. How is it possible that you are not even going to fully check the whole rental to make sure things like this are out of place. Pants and shirt measurements were completely off. Also, who knows how old their shoes are, but, the heel of one of my shoes came off before the party was even over. Mind you, I didn't do anything physically aggressive for that to happen. Totally not worth the money they charge. When I called back they were so rude and acted like it was my fault. I worked retail management for 9 years, this is not the way to approach a customer. Do yourselves a favor and choose elsewhere. Avoid your party having to go through a difficult time!!! read more

Just completed rental and return of 7 tuxedos with FMT in OP and have nothing but positive remarks. Of the other tuxedo rental places around this area, we got the best value here since they offered us discounted invitations and discounted tuxedo rental since we rented 7 and I got a free pair of cuff links of my choice. I too ordered some one-notch-up tuxedos for my wedding assuming it would be very warm and uncomfortable getting married 3 days after the start of summer and was very happy with the quality and the fact I was comfortable all day. We goofed our invitations first time through and had to re-order on rush and they again gave us the discount normally offered. I am getting my tuxedo's through Formally Modern for our wedding in July. I went into the Clybourn store to set everything up and was pleased with the customer service they provided. I then took my father in for a fitting to the Orland Park location and they once again confirmed just how exceptional their customer service is. The manager, Shannon, took care of us. My father is disabled and in a wheelchair and from the second we were in the store she knew exactly how to handle the situation. She even went out of her way to mark down multiple sizes for his order so he'd have a few options for the big day so we wouldn't have to worry about getting something and it not working properly. I was so happy with the way the whole visit was handled. I don't often need formal wear, but if I do, it'll definitely be coming from Formally Modern. read more

I have to say that Nick at the Orland Park store was great and provided a great customer service experience for me. I had rented a tux because I was standing up in my buddy's wedding and 1 hour before the wedding, I realized that the clip on the side of my pants was broken. I attempted a few quick fixes but was unsuccessful. I immediately called the store and talked to Nick. I explained to him the issue I was having and his first response/suggestion was to walk me through the fix on the phone. He did that with me but it did not work. The clip/latch was defective. He then immediately suggested that someone from the store bring me out a new pair of pants. I could not believe that the store would do this. Within 20 minutes...due to traffic and construction, Bridgett was at the wedding hall with 2 pairs of pants for me to try on. I was absolutely taken back by this action as it is very rare that you receive service like this today. I would rent again from this store just because of the excellent service Nick and Bridgett provided. I hope that Nick is recognized by the company for the incredible customer service he provided. I had a great experience with this store. Nick spent so much time in making sure that every part of the tux fit properly. He noticed things that I didn't, and made sure that I was looking good on my wedding day. Everything from choosing a proper fitting shirt so that it didn't look too big, making sure the jacket fit correctly, to making sure the length of the pants is just right. He went above and beyond what I expected and the tux ended up fitting me as well as a tailored suit would have. Also the groomsmen were all different sizes and the tuxes fit them all very well. The store itself is easy to work with because of the multiple locations for people to pick up the tuxes. Being able to send in measurements online worked out well for the out of town groomsmen. All in all it's a great place. And if you go to the store and have Nick taking care of you, you'll be looking sharp. read more

Rented a tuxedo for my sons prom and the pants split right up the crotch before he left. Took pictures before we tried to stitch them . the pants had been ripped before and apparently the stitching was not supported. I called the store back that night to let them know what was going on. They told me to bring the pants in the next day. There was no great way of stitching up these pants. My son was very unconfortsble with the stitching and the feeling of wearing these pants. But what else could we do? These inconsiderate. Sales people had the nerves to offer me up $50 after my sons whole evening was ruined! This event will be memorable for sure! Those pants will not be able to be repaired for another family to have to deal with this! BAD BUSINESS AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN !!!!! Stay away, poor (profit oriented) customer service. This is my first Yelp review and while I generally don't go out of my way to either bash or recommend a place (food or otherwise). I purposely signed up to Yelp to post this review. My experience with Formally Modern tuxedo was terrible. More importantly this review also reflects the perspective of a few of the other groomsmen who were in the wedding with me. I am a shirt and tie daily wearer and also have quite a few fitted pants and a few sport coats; so I knew my size. At the fitting a measurement was required, which is ok to make sure anything hasn't changed or possibly the fit of the suit was different than what I was used to. And of course the measurements didn't match what I wear. I made the comment at that point to re-align the written measurement to what I feel comfortable wearing. I was told, don't worry the suit runs on a big side and I would be fine. The strange part is right after that they had to spend 10 minutes figuring out what the suit actually was (style code etc.). I should have paid more attention, but at that point I was more concerned with the other person I was with and getting their measurement correct. Day of the pick up the shirt and coat were small. I asked if I could get a larger shirt and coat and I was told, that it is the style of not only this suit, but also suits in general. Maybe, but still I insisted that is not what I felt comfortable wearing. The answer was not what I expected and which really made me realize I needed to write this review. They might be able to get a larger coat and shirt, but I wouldn't be able to keep the ones that were currently delivered. WHAT???? (If I wanted to keep the ones I had while they tired to source the replacement coat and shirt I would need to rent the new ones) There wasn't any transparency as to why I couldn't keep the smaller shirt or coat other than it was against policy. And there wasn't any clarity as to why they couldn't guarantee the larger coat and shirt. What I realized as I left the store was this, they didn't own this suit (which most places don't, which is ok), and it would cost additional money that the store would absorb to let me keep the coat and shirt while trying to get the replacement larger items. And... the comments of this is the style was reflective of their avoidance of additional shipping costs even if I wanted to run the risk of not having a cost or shirt. So this wasn't as case of making the customer happy, it was a case of protecting their margins/profit. So at a rental location that definitely has a price premium for rentals they are failing. I want to echo that there were at least 2 other groomsmen in the wedding that had the same issue with the same location. read more

My husband had a great experience working with Anna at Formally Modern Tuxedo. Anna was a lot of fun, cracking jokes and making him feel at ease. She helped him to create a great wedding day look for himself, the groomsmen, and our fathers without any kind of pressure. The tuxes were very elegant, fairly comfortable, and looked modern yet timeless. A few other tuxedo places he looked at wouldn't really give him the time of day when they heard we have a small bridal party (3 guys), but Anna at Formally Modern gave great service. A few weeks ago my brother had his wedding and I went to get fitted at the Orland Park Location the night before the big day. I was helped by a young gentleman which i believe was to be the manager. Everything was good, I got home and tried the tux on to show my family, and unfortunately I was given the wrong size. It seems that everything was just too tight, so I came back to exchange my tuxedo and this time was helped by Anna Z. and let me just say that she really took care of every last little thing that I needed, in addition to her humorous personality. The absolute best place in town to get a tuxedo. Price is very reasonable, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about what todays fashion in the formal wear industry is all about. Needing a tuxedo in a pinch and having been to a few different formal wear shops in the past with terrible results, I decided to try out Formally Modern and let me tell you, this is where I will always get my tuxedos. I needed a tuxedo for a business affair that was happening that night (I know, i know PROCRASTINATOR!!) and Formally Modern was able to fit me from head to toe and make all the alterations (which most other places do not) to the tuxedo while I waited.
