Bobby's promise to seek my approval before installation proved hollow, forcing me to make a last minute phone call to cancel their installation. They said plans would've been reviewed 48 hours in advance and the panel installation would be postponed since the roof underlayment wasn't completed. So why did I call less than 12 hours before their planned installation and have to postpone it myself? Efficiency: Efficiency is non-existent at Forme. Scheduling an installation when my roof was nowhere near ready contradicted their claim of reviewing layouts two days in advance. Multiple follow-up inspections for minor issues showcased a complete lack of foresight and planning. Each inspection was spaced out by 1 or 2 weeks, leading to a much drawn out process. If the issues the inspector requested were done in one go, then they wouldn't need multiple follow up inspections. This inefficiency likely contributed to the overall delayed completion of the project. Quality: The quality of work is also nothing to write home about. During a lath inspection, the inspector questioned the professionalism of the installers, exposing a fundamental lack of knowledge regarding necessary standards. The inspector asked me if the people who did it were professionals because of how bad of a job they did. Billing Concerns: The cherry on top of this disaster is the billing incompetence. Bobby had the audacity to claim the invoice was past due when the work hadn't even been completed. They left circuits disconnected from the main electric panel so some lights weren't working. Despite sending an email about the issue, the project remained in limbo for over a month, casting serious doubt on their ability to manage both finances and completion timelines. In sum, Forme's performance was consistently dismal across communication, efficiency, project timelines, work quality, and billing. I used to work in construction, so I can be very fussy when it comes to hiring contractors. I know the difference between a decent job and a great one. From start to finish, I was impressed with Orme Solae from the way they communicated to how they executed. They did a comprehensive review of my roof and found some problems that I hadn't discovered. They then provided a professional estimate and proposal with multiple options around quality and price. Just a reroof, or reroof plus solar. I deccided to bundle in solar with the roofing because I could bundle together the tax credit, and they offered roofing materials thay were made to work well together - rather than piece together a solution only using the cheapest materials. I knew that I was getting quality with how they spoke about how to bundle together the roofing with solar, the asthetics and the cost difference. Once we settled on the right type of materials for our roof and solar, they scheduled the job quickly. On the scheduled day, they arrived on time and completed the entire roofing work and solar installation in one day. They also improved thr ventilation, properly vented the bathroom fans, replaced any rotten deck and fascia boards, and sealed and caulked well. At cleanup they picked up every spec of debris. They went over the entire yard...twice, picking up stray nails, trash, and scrap materials. You couldn't even tell that they had been there. I contracted Orme Solar based on the positive feedback on Yelp and other sites. From the start, Nick provided a reasonable and confident assessment of my solar energy system and the best solution. Even though his quote was higher than the others because he recommended the largest system size, I felt comfortable having his company take the job. Funny enough this became one of the brightest spots working with Orme Solar. I'm glad that we went with the larger size since we know that our usage is only going to go up in the future....just put in an order for a Tesla! I had to get a reroof as well, and Orme was able to bundle together the roofing with solar to get me 30% off of my new roof. One with a 10 year roof penetration. The Orme crew started the job 3 weeks after signing the contract. They took off the existing roof, replaced it, and added solar in a matter of 3 days, much shorter than the week he originally estimated. My inspection of the new roof and solar panels didn't find any obvious issues, but I'm not an expert. All tasks were performed well and they left without a trace. My one negative experience was that I had to stay home an extra day for failing inspection. They got the job done, and was impressed by Nick's customer service. read more

My tile roof had sprung a small leak and needed to be re-papered. I had also been considering solar for a few years and it made sense to combine the work with the roof work. I did my due diligence and had multiple companies bid on both roof and solar. At first I going to go with another company but after speaking with Nick again, I decided that the information he provided, quote and great communication throughout the process made me very comfortable. The roof work was excellent and prompt. I needed to just repaper the roof but there was some termite damage to some boards and fascia which was all taken care of. I think my roof looks better than before even though the tiles were not replaced. Broken tiles were replace. It rained a week later and yay no leak. The solar work was done soon after and Nick took care of all permits, city inspection scheduling and SCE electric company for submissions to activate. It was so painless and documents were done all electronically. The solar panels look great and are generating a lot of energy. Wonderful customer service. Very quick responses. And when I called with more questions he answered them. He was always faster to respond than the other rep and more knowledgeable. The installers were cool too, explained the process of how the day was going to go and approximately how long it would take to install the 21 LG panels on my roof. But when it came to inspection with the city THEY SUCKED. The FormeSolar guys waited the whole day in front of my house for the inspection twice and both times the inspectors didn't show. I ended up calling the city and complained about the delays. They told me that they had the wrong address. I asked well why didn't confirm or just call?! Thankfully the third time was the charm! Had lots of doubts going solar and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience I have had with ForME Solar. Was absolutely amazed with the savings that solar could bring. My SCE bill went down from the 300s to $10 per month for the connection fee. I shopped around for a few months for a solar installation company near me and got various quotes and feedback from companies. Started speaking with Jack @Orme and helped answer all of the questions that I have been skeptical with from other companies. From the payment structure and the timeline of savings, was able to understand exactly how much I would be saving. From the system that we have we will be getting a 111% return and was able to get the 30% tax credit. The install process was a little rocky at first but ended better than expected. The Technician showed up wearing a mask which was great. We don't know how long the inverter wasn't working. My electric bill was over $200 for the last two months then I discovered the inverter wasn't working. I checked pricing on inverters and expected to replace it. I sent an inquiry on Forme Sokar website and asked about checking it out. Terry reslonded to me and told me how to reset it and get back to him. My son came over Friday night at 8:30 pm to reset it. Since it was dark I couldn't tell if it was working. Well it didn't work the next day. I spoke with Terry and he scheduled an appt. on Tuesday. The tech was running late due to inspector issue and it looked like we would not be keeping the appt. Then Terry called and said they will keep it but would be close to 5 pm. We were fine with that. The tech was able to get the inverter working and now during this heatwave of 102° we are generating power. What a relief! I was looking around to extend my existing solar installation with a few more panels so i can cover most of my energy needs for the future. After contacting an few solar installer i was rather unsatisfied with what i got back until i stumbled over Forme Solar and talked to Nick. I really wanted to do business with Forme Solar but the communication between the pre-sales rep Bobby was not positive. Every time I asked Bobby a question, it would take 24-48 hours to receive a response and when we did speak on the phone, it always appeared he was busy and was in hurry to get off the phone. Just didn't feel comfortable with Bobby. I know this is not a review on the Solar install but my overall experience with the pre-sales process. My sister in law, who is also looking for a Solar company tried on 2 different occasion to receive a quote but after the 2nd attempt with no response decide to dedicate her time and investment with another company that was more responsive. After getting a few quotes and checking their reviews on Yelp it came down to Forme and one other company. Both had fantastic reviews, a great price, solid warranties and really helpful staff. What really won me over though with forme was how flexible they were. They didn't keep trying to force a particular type of brand on me and could quote me on Sunpower, LG and Q Cells panels so that I could evaluate lots of options. I'm glad I went with them because of their experience repairing systems. It makes me feel good to know that my solar system is backed by a company that can actually fix the issue if anything went wrong. I've read enough bad reviews where solar companies just never want to repair their poor work. Oh the installation went great and I couldn't be more excited about going solar. Love the savings, hate the hype. Before going solar, I researched what it meant to go solar and spoke with various solar companies. I learned two things. 1. Solar companies really range in terms of their knowledge and 2. The promise of solar is overhyped! The full benefits of going solar can't be achieved without a battery option....isn't the idea of solar to automatically charge my home when my power goes out? Quotes including a solar battery just didn't make enough sense. When we finally decided to go solar, we picked Orme due to the combination of knowledge and competitive price.
