Horrible company! Very responsive before they have your money. But good luck hearing back from them once they have your money! I've had my solar panels for over a year now. My agreement came with guaranteed production. My system produced less than what was guaranteed. Been trying to get some resolution for the past 3 months now. I found Forme Solar in Yelp and reached out for a quote. Bobby responded, asked for some information and provided a quote on the panels and system size I wanted. After comparing their quotes to others I received, I decided to move forward and the process began. Bryan came out and did the site inspection and figured out the best layout. He did mention my roof may need to be replaced and sure enough it did. They have a preferred roofer (Carlos) they like to use, but said I could use one of my choice. I ended up using Carlos since his price was similar to bids I received and they have a history of working together so it made sense. Once the layout was presented, we had space on my east roof to add an extra panel so I reached out to Bobby to see what it would cost to add an extra panel if we changed from LG panels to Q-Cells. By changing panels, I was basically able to add an extra panel which would increase our system size and production for the same out of pocket amount so we did that. Installation took about 1/2 a day and PTO was granted shortly after passing inspection on the first try. They did leave behind some debris on the ground and roof which I was able to cleanup for the most part. Just had Forme Solar install Q CELL panels and was disappointed we hadn't gone solar sooner. Was impressed with the product and service throughout this whole COVID thing. Shopped around a few solar companies, but Forme stood out for following reasons: - Easy to compare equipment with different pricing. We went with their all black panel solar system which meant we could generate power with a setup that looks good on our roof. - Installation Quality. A cool crew who worked in some incredibly hot heat! They ran conduit in a very discreet way, and even painted it the color of the house so it blended in. We found Forme Solar through Yelp and Google searches, probably like you are doing now. I made a list of the top 5 solar installers (by Yelp rating) that served Chino Hills. I had bought solar panels for my house about 5 years ago, so I knew what to look for in solar. But this time we were searching for solar panels for my in-laws' house. They wanted to purchase the system, not sign a lease agreement. 2 of the solar companies did not call back within 24 hours, so they were eliminated right away. I received proposals from the other 3, one of which is a major company that sells at Costco. We thought going in that we were going to go with the Costco solar provider. But they actually did not impress us. I think maybe they had too many layers of management to pay or something. The Costco solar reps were nice, but their price was WAY higher than Forme's solar, and I didn't feel like they would do as good a job because the whole thing was very bureuacratic. On the other hand, Bobby from Forme Solar was nice too, but he was more professional and responsive (as you'd expect from a smaller business), their proposal was straight-forward, and their price was WAY lower than Costco's. They proposed using top quality solar panels and inverters (Enphase), which is a lot of what you want to look for when you are buying. So if they can install the best components at a lower price, why wouldn't I try them? So we did. We found that their 5 star ratings were legit. They installed as expected. There were no extra fees beyond what we were told on the initial proposal. And the whole thing went very smoothly. My in-laws just received their Permission to Operate (PTO) last week. So, they are off to the races generating power with their new solar system. We all could not be happier. Quick update. Terry reached out via telephone and also came by my house in person to apologize for the delays during our project. In addition, they were true to their word and provided me a partial refund to cover the 2 1/2 months they were late completing the project. Having spoken with Terry, I do believe they want to do better and he advised me they now have a 24 hour support line to assist customers outside of business hours. In my opinion, the solar industry is booming(as evidenced by the sheer volume of permits being issued in my city alone) and I think Forme was in a position where they did not want to turn business away but did not have the resources to keep up with the demand. I wish them the best, and honestly don't know if this would have been different from any other company out there. Reading things in solar forums, I have heard similar stories from other people with other companies. If you choose to select Forme solar you will get a great product and quality construction. Just be meticulous with your record keeping, ask them for an honest timeframe and then understand it will likely take a bit longer than that. I would encourage Forme, and all businesses to be upfront and honest with their customers on timeframes as that will certainly alleviate a large amount of frustration. read more

Went solar about 5 years, and it was working okay. We got it through the Hero program, and we were seeing savings till now. All of a sudden my system seemed to stop working. Called the original installer and they said it was an equipment error. So I called Aurora and they said that may have been Edison. Its like everyone has been placing the blame on everyone else. Fast forward a month and multiple phone calls. I finally had my original solar installation company come by and check out the issue. It was almost like twisting their arm to get them to come. They were extremely rude about the whole situation and quoted me $3k to get the issue fixed! That would have wiped our most of my solar savings up to this point but I was in a bit of a tight spot since I'm still making payments on the system. Went on Yelp searching for solar repair and contacted a few solar companies. Most werent willing to do solar repairs, but thankfully Orme Solar was. It's been a month since I received my inspection and NEM 2.0 approval. Overall here are the good and bad: Good: 1) they completed the job 2) system works like it should and workmanship is good for the most part. 3) the equipment are what they said they were supposed to be (Panasonic panels and Enphase inverters) Bad: 1) not as responsive. Sometimes I don't get a response for 1-3 weeks, or none at all. 2) my AC disconnect box was removed entirely because it was a "safety" issue. The AC was working before they got there and I guess when they pulled the disconnect it broke, which happens but I was looking for a resolution. I was left without AC for weeks in the heat. They said it's not part of the Solar system so they shouldn't be responsible for it, which is fine but then they should have left the box and conduits alone, so at least I can replace the disconnect myself! They offered to provide labor free of charge if I just pay for the material, which is fair but 3 weeks goes by and nothing. They were quick to respond when I told them I don't need it anymore. The parts cost less than $60, I'll do it myself than to wait around in a heat wave. 3) the electrician drilled a hole into one of the underground water pipe when they were looking to install a ground. I get it, things happen. They broke open the concrete floor to "fix" the pipe. They used shark bite fitting to stop the leak so they could come back the next day to finish it since it was getting late. Then next day they poured concrete with the shark bite still attached!! ITS NOT A PERMANENT FIX!! I understand, it's not their house so they don't give a shit if it leaks in 16 years. Proper way to fix is to use solder on the copper tubes. I've used shark bite fittings and they're fine for temporary fix or on exterior walls where I have easy access, but NEVER underground where I can't see it!! What ruins it for me is lack of communication. I am now looking for a new solar company for future service should I run into any issues. read more

My original installer is no longer in business of course and the larger companies I called don't do services on systems they didn't build. It's a solid 4 star (originally rated 3 star). And that doesn't mean it's a bad company. But many aspects of the operations are just "OK" and the entire experience leaves a bad taste. From a project management standpoint, it's a miserable experience. Minimal updates, unanswered questions, lack of explanation on details, absolutely no follow up, and poor scheduling/logistics. I'll give credit where credit is due - the sales service from Bobby prior to the contract signing was superb. We're talking about answers for all forms of questions, answered throughout the day (sometimes late in evening and early in the morning outside of business hours). No pushy sales tactics and a plethora of information and options for the quote. From initial inquiry to contract signing was over a year for me to decide. However once the operations team takes over for scheduling, permits, and other items is when it becomes a whole different story. Candy Cabrera (originally the "Customer Success Manager" in Oct 2022 and then later the "Operations Manager" in Feb 2023) is the epitome of a black hole for information -things go in but nothing comes out. When it does come out it's like the movie Interstellar about black holes- often delayed or just asking for the same information again like a time loop. For example she'll ask me for a photo of the SCE sticker on the electric panel which I would promptly reply followed by a question -no answer. Then a MONTH later another email asking for the same photo. Then ANOTHER month after that someone else from the team asking for the same photo again. We're talking about pertinent emails with important questions and information from permits, to scheduling, and specific details - practically unanswered. The scheduling is of similar disarray. Email comes Jan 31st telling me there's a spot for install Feb 7. I email back to ask a few questions like "hey, are you sure I'm going to have power since I work from home" or "you guys haven't installed my electrical panel yet, are you proceeding with the solar panels first?". I have to ask these questions because there's no update on anything during the entire process. Instead of answering the questions, again the black hole. Then on Feb 7th at 7 am, an entire team of 6 installers is at my house ready to go. And guess what - that new electrical panel (MPU)- sitting in my driveway along with a Panasonic battery previously removed from a change order from 3 months ago. $20K of extra equipment not needed but eagerly awaiting install. The install goes smoothly. The wife is annoyed because the yard is littered with small bits of trash but it's construction work and I'm not nitpicking. You would think there's some kind of info packet, info email, welcome email, or a basic call the next day -NOTHING. I wasn't home the latter half of the day for the install, so the technician never setup the Enphase controller to the WiFi. Just basic details you think would be provided after $30K of equipment has been installed over your head. Remember all those unanswered emails and coordination issues? Well turns out the change order to remove the battery was signed back in Nov. Somehow plans to the city still included this detail. So now that solar has been installed in February, a revision has to be sent to the city. How was this even on there in the first place? Until this is completed, I can't have my panel de-rated, and I don't have approval from SCE for energy credits. At least this time someone answered my email to explain this. 3/2/2023 update: Terry from Forme did reach out with a call and email after this review. We had some in-depth discussions about what could be improved and we agreed that they did drop the ball previously. The last 2 weeks everything has turned around with updates, courtesy status updates with the city, and a heads up email and call when the inspection was scheduled. Inspection passed on the first try and everything went smoothly. Production so far is also steady. Thankful for the corrections and assurances from the Forme team. This review on based on my interaction with the sales team (not their products). So I reached out to them based on the high # of their 5-star reviews. One of their sales rep (or "Strategic Partnership") emailed back. We traded a 3-4 emails back and forth, and this person basically threw out a lot of technical jargon (like I'm already an expert on solar). Responses were short (almost dismissive). They didn't ask a lot of questions (makes me wonder how thoroughly they are). But what bothered me the most was that they didn't try to explain anything. Just assumed I knew all the terminology he was throwing out in his emails. I spoke with 3 other companies and ALL 3 took their time to asked for bills, pictures on electrical panel, and answered ALL the questions I had. This person...not even close. If I'm going to spend $15K, $20K, or whatever amount, I want to make sure I understand everything. While I ultimately didn't move forward with Forme Solar because of the extra cost for my skip sheathing roof, their customer service was great. I decided to work with Forme Solar based on reviews and competitive pricing. I don't entirely regret it but there are definitely parts of the process that could have been managed and communicated much better. Everything from the quote up to the installation of the system was quick and well-facilitated. Trouble started when we had some confusion with the city inspector which required resolving some communication problems and ensuring we had the paperwork needed to move forward. I felt much of this issue required my intervention and follow-up to get resolved quickly and keep the work going to PTO, not exactly a hands-off process. Once that was resolved, we had a series of other small issues that again required my frequent inquiry and follow up to get resolved, first with email and then when no answer after 3-5 business days then a call-- for some of these I guess they just figured they were going to address it in 3-5 days anyway so why respond, but it would have been nice had they just acknowledged our question or told us when they expected the work to be done. Lastly, we eventually found out we apparently have the wrong meter placement for us to be able to measure our consumption with the enphase app, although that was never communicated to us at any point in the process. Fine, whatever, but why did it take me three weeks of back and forth with the project manager, restating my issue again via email, and then calling the office for the fifth or sixth time in frustration when I didn't hear back from the project manager only to find out what the VP ended up telling us in a single line of email? We also asked politely for a call to discuss/understand further and got another single line of text back. Extremely frustrating, waste of my time, and left a bad taste in my mouth at the end of the project. They removed some existing solar panels to facilitate the remodel and then re-installed the panels and upgraded my existing system to add 25% additional capacity as well as switching the system to use micro-inverters. Unless you have half a year to spend on trying to get solar, go with another company. We signed contract on 12/05/22, well before the NEM 2.0 deadline. We researched many different companies but decided to go with them because Bobby was great and answered our questions quickly and thoroughly. He must be the only one who knows how to communicate. We had to get our underlayment replaced which they said they had contracted roofers for. We researched our own roofers, but again went with Forme to keep everything as one package and hopefully make the project seamless. So JC sends an email in March trying to schedule a date to install the panels. The roof wasn't even done, how would they install panels? He replied he would get back to us and then this is when all communication stopped. We sent at least 5 emails that week and countless phone calls with no response. I thought we got scammed! They weren't even answering the phone line. Finally Bobby responded after a week and said someone would get in touch but no one did. So now we're in April. I called on 4/13/23 and a project manager answered. I didn't catch her name but she said she was only with the company for a month and didn't know anything going on. She was able to get me through to Zel who apologized for the lack of communication. She said our project was delayed due to rains so everyones project was getting pushed back. We live in socal.. we don't have months of straight rain to push back projects that far. So after going back and forth with Zel she said she would try to get the project done by the end of April. We emailed asking if we could get the panels installed right after the roof was done to make up for time lost but we're still waiting for a response. It's mid May now and still no panels! Long story short, this company is probably working out of someone's garage. Absolutely no communication after signing contract and paying deposit. They picked up the phone on a Sunday. The bar for solar companies was that high. The attendant was really nice and helped answer my questions around the issue I was getting with my solar panels that I noticed for my Sunpower PV55x monitoring. On the other hand, since you had botched a critical piece of job, specifically, the interconnection method specifically requested by customer on single line diagram (SLD), you should own it and right it at any cost.
