Grabbed takeout the other night and it was pretty solid! Ordered a mix of sushi rolls and a couple of hot dishes. Everything was ready on time and packed up neatly with enough chopsticks, sauces, and napkins! The sushi was fresh and tasted good. it was presented well too in the take out boxes. The hot dishes were flavorful and still warm by the time I got home. Portions were great too!! especially the hot dishes Ordering was super easy online, and pick-up was quick. Started off great, ended with a huge disappointment. My first experience was good, so I decided to order again--this time through DoorDash. I called the restaurant to confirm my order, and the first person said he couldn't see it. I repeated my name and raised my voice out of frustration, and we ended the call. I called back and someone (maybe the same person) was able to confirm the order. I asked for the chicken to be fried hard so it wouldn't be soggy by the time it got to me, and I also requested extra BBQ sauce. Ordered pan fried noodles, I didn't realize they'd end up basically like a pack of uncooked Ramen noodles; hard as a rock and crunchy, on top of vegetables that weren't cooked, the meat was okay, the shrimp tasted old to me, and im a cook that has worked with shrimp. The egg rolls were very basic, as though they came in frozen and were cooked off in a dirty fryer. Highly overpriced and the wait time was long. It has been a bit since I have been here back in the 80's and it is not at all the same. We were seated right away on Friday evening, and our server attended to us right away. The place is nice and open, but it can get loud. Their menu is has pretty good options, but not if you are looking for gluten free, very limited even with sushi! And NO gluten free soy sauce and they made no accommodations and wanted to change me extra for a small portion of teriyaki sauce! I could not believe they wanted to charge me for sauce when they don't provide gluten free soy sauce. Our server was no help. I warned the staff and management that my daughter has a severe egg allergy. Despite this, she was served food that caused a serious allergic reaction. When she told them what was happening, staff dismissed her and said she was "making it up." When I called the restaurant to report the incident, the manager was rude, made excuses, and hung up on me. Their handling of this situation was careless and negligent. Food allergies are life-threatening, and this restaurant failed to take proper precautions to protect a customer's health. We eat here for lunch probably every other week and have always had consistent and good service. They are quick to seat and quick to serve. The food is always good and very consistent. They have a teppan area, but we have not tried that yet. Their sushi bar is good as well. Came in on a Saturday night and was sat immediately. This place has a pretty big dining room area, they also have hibachi tables in the back but they are separated by glass for their own room. Our server was friendly & very attentive. We got sushi & the Mongolian beef, sorry no pictures phone ate last this time haha, we were starving. Delicious Chinese food for such a good price! This restaurant had such a fun vibe and was filled with a whole bunch of Chinese motifs and decor. With the stone statues, red paper lanterns, and Hanzi mixed in with neon lighting and massive fish tank, there's quite a bit to catch your eye while you're there. Our server was excellent in every way, was very attentive to us and the other tables that she was taking care of, and so was sweet during our visit. The food was insanely good and every dish we ordered was so unexpectedly large, leaving us with an ample amount of just as delicious leftovers to take home with us. We started off with the Pork BBQ Buns appetizer and they were steamed so deliciously well. The bun itself was soft and melted in my mouth, and the bbq flavor wasn't overbearing but gave just the right amount of tangy sweetness to the pulled pork. Shortly after we'd finished the Buns, our meal was brought out to us, and there were serving spoons with both dishes so we could try a little bit of both. The chicken in the Teriyaki Chicken super tender and fell apart in my mouth, the sweetness of the teriyaki balanced out by the slight bitterness of the crunchy snow peas. The Steamed White Rice we ordered with it was also super fluffy and tasted great with the leftover teriyaki sauce. The noodles in the Pad Thai were also exceptionally light but held the sauce excellently for a mouthful of flavor with each bite. Lemon wedges were served with it to add some extra zest if wanted, but they ended up being unused because we thought the dish was delicious without them. The chicken was tender in this one as well and the shrimp were satisfyingly plump and juicy. There was also enough egg in the noodles to be considered a third main form of protein in this dish, and they were so fluffy and tasted SO good with the sauce. The peanuts topping the noodles were also cooked perfectly and gave a satisfying, but not too crunchy, crunch along with the sautéed veggies. I'm absolutely looking forward to my next visit and can't wait to try their hibachi menu as well. Just make sure you have a reservation for the hibachi grill as it is by reservation only. I'd definitely recommend giving Formosa Garden a visit so you can experience a delicious meal too! read more

It's been better. I've been to Formosa Garden ple try of times. Once upon a time, it was a go to for Asian food. Today, the quality of food was lacking. Three stars for service. Mike was an excellent server and anticipated our every need. I ordered the combination lo mein. It tasted okay, and then maybe not. The shrimp in the lo mein tasted over cooked or precooked. The noodles tasted starchy and heavy on the soy sauce. The broccoli tasted good though :) My mom ordered the seafood delight, it came out fine. But during my last visit on 9/24/2025, I was served raw chicken wings--not once, but twice. When I asked to speak with the manager (referred to as "Leo"), he dismissed the issue, blamed the cook, refused to give his name, and walked away. I was stunned. This was our first time visiting this place. Honestly, I have always heard so many great things about it but I wasn't impressed tonight. The fried rice that came with the entrees was extremely plain and had no flavor. The chicken was soggy. We ordered cheese puffs and those just tasted weird. We had a taste of the shrimp toast and it was either oil or butter but either way, it was soaked entirely in it. The waiter was very nice and accommodated our party of 14 with ease. Major props to him for not missing a beat! The place itself was quiet and nice looking. A tad on the stuffy side and they were playing the Olympics on tv. I do wish the seating was a tiny bit more spaced out as the kids had trouble with very little elbow room to eat comfortably. But other than that our dining experience was good. I've given Formosa three tries, but I don't believe I will patronize this restaurant again. Today was the final straw. We finally tried their hibachi and it was quite "mid" as the young folks would say! I was very underwhelmed! Not only by the taste of the food, but the first thing that the server/chef asked us was " Is there a special occasion ya'll are celebrating? Someone made parole?" Mind you we were a black family celebrating 2 birthdays! Then we had 1 child and 4 teenage boys at the table and he proceeds to tell a lewd joke! "Why doesn't Santa Claus have any children? Because he only comes once a year!" Throughout the cooking he makes comments about what most black people are like. He made a mention of how most black people love Long Islands (really?) and how most of the black people he serves want more butter! I did not enjoy this experience at all! But I felt like the onus was on us to laugh off his ignorance and disrespect because he was an older man from Lao. I didn't want to go to the manager and jeopardize his job (again leaving the onus on me)! The thing I decided to do to voice my frustration and straight shock from this disturbing and disrespectful experience was to leave this review and vow to never give this restaurant another penny of my money or support. In addition to the poor service, the food wasn't even that good! Maybe that why "most of his black customers wanted more butter" and seasoning. Just a thought!
