Worked up an appetite after a Sunday stroll on the river walk. Stumbled upon The Brick and Sukeban sushi. The restaurant sits tucked in a lovely corner nook. I was accompanied by 3 of my relatives and we decided to have a sit and a late lunch. Upon entering was greeted by a friendly face. The restaurant had just opened up so we had seating of our choice. To Start we each had a Miso soup( superb, btw) followed by an order of pork gyoza and spring rolls. While we munched and yapped on our apps, we made our decisions on what rolls we were going to share. I decided to order from Makizushi menu. Simple and deliciously fresh to order sushi rolls. Prices ranged from $6 and up. I ordered a tempura roll and a California roll. This cozy corner offers a variety of delicious options. Best part is you can definitely find something on a budget and also you can splurge on more elaborate specialty rolls! After we enjoyed our fill. We wandered around The Brick to thrift and check out some cool art. One thing to note is that parking can be tricky especially at night, but well worth the fuss. I can't wait to go back!

Love this sushi place in southtown! The service is always spectacular, and the restaurant is cozy, calm, amd very modern. There's a good amount of indoor seating for both small and big groups! Go-to order is the Philadelphia roll because of the goat cheese. The chicken yakitori is sweet, salty, and deliciousAlso love their sushi and sashimi dishes. Our waitress was super sweet and explained everything on the menu when we had questions. Parking is easy; there's a lot right across from the entrance to Halcyon. There's also a ton of cool art shops and bars in the area too!

We're fairly new to the area. The girls asked for sushi and this place is literally up the street. We're temporarily housed at the Big Tex Flats, so it's about a 5-7min walk. I phoned in my order and they said it would take about 40min. Everything tasted good and fresh! All of the "hot foods" were still relatively warm by the time I got the food and made the mini trek back to the apartment. I appreciate that they kept the "spicy" sauce separate from the edamame, allowing me to control the spicy level and not get the edamame too soggy. We've had sushi up and down the east coast && I have to admit that we were VERY skeptical of sushi with goat cheese vice cream cheese (e.g., Philly roll). But it was surprisingly good and a much smoother& creamier bite. Both of my girls liked the Philly roll and liked that it had both avocado and cucumber. The same comment goes for their cheese wonton, which also used goat cheese. We really really enjoyed those. I was hoping for a chili vinaigrette based cucumber salad but this wasn't bad. In fact, I ate the entire container (in two sittings tho). Even the 6 y/o thought it was good. The edamame was okay - what you expect from edamame but could use a nice punch of salt. However, for those watching their sodium intake, this is a good way to serve it. So I added my own sea salt flakes. Everyone enjoyed the gyoza. Husband had the king crab roll. He didn't really voice any comments about it, but considering that he ate it all, I'll say it was a win win. I had the shrimp tempura roll. It was a pretty mild and basic roll but good. My eldest also had the volcano roll. I tried a piece and it was yum! Had a LOT going on lol but I guess that's the "volcano erupting." We spent about $100 on this meal. A bit pricier than back home (MD prices) but I'm also not complaining too much about it. It was a pretty solid meal. Sadly, we're moving up/over? to the northwest side. So I doubt that I'd go out of my way to come back here, but who knows? If I find myself back in Southtown and I'm craving sushi, I'd probably swing by here.

Spicy Tuna, Kareshi Roll, Southtown Roll, and Bluestar Roll

I'm so happy I found this place for date night. Service was fast and waitress was kind. Sushi was delicious. I'd definitely recommend the Southtown and my husband would recommend the Bluestar. We ordered two other rolls that were delicious too the Kareshi & a classic Spicy Tuna roll. We also enjoyed the pork gyoza (not pictured). Wasn't packed but wasn't empty for a Friday night. We had no complaints!

By far our favorite sushi bar! The preparation, taste and knowing how good the chefs know their food craft We love our server, and always look forward to dining in for dinner and drinks! Keep up the great work!

Sukeban impressed me. The service was really good and the server had great recommendations. We started with the spring rolls that were crispy light with flavor and amazing sauce. All the rolls we had were great but . I would suggest the shrimp tempura roll. Will definitely be coming back here. Love the dark, dim, relaxing sushi, bar vibe

Sushi and Champagne!? Yes please! This place is a great spot for a date, too bad I went with my friends lol Either way the food was delicious and the service was exceptional. The noodles were very tasty and had a great consistency. The roll was pretty basic, but then again we ordered a basic roll. I can't wait to go back and try out some more stuff.

Finally got to try Sukeban and really enjoyed it!! Great, relaxed atmosphere hidden in Blue Star Area. Cozy space with good music playlist. Parking will be tricky on a busy night. Service was wonderful and food was gooood! They have a nice wine selection and I noted that the bar would be a comfortable setting for solo dining as well. They have QR menus which I hate, wish they had paper menus like the good ole days. Their soup was so flavorful and delicious and the sushi was 10/10. Yakisoba Noodles were good, but preferred the sushi. Will definitely be returning!

Wonderful sushi bar. Great chef who was more than happy to handle customer requests. Superb fish. Very fresh. Large nigiri pieces and hefty rolls. If you're looking for a real sushi bar in San Antonio, this is the place.

It was my first time trying this spot and it was delicious! It's hard to find good quality sushi in SA so I'm glad I stumbled on this spot. It's hard to miss but once inside, it's a nice atmosphere with great sushi. It was happy hour so it was very slow inside but they have a good happy hour menu. We got the Miso soup which was perfectly made, no sink water taste. The spring rolls were tasty but overall I was impressed by their specialty rolls. I'd recommend the Kareshi Roll as it's now my favorite.

I came in because I saw their signage out front showing $6 rolls for happy hour (and that they're hiring server). I didn't take a pic because ... brain fart? (I have no idea) Turns out, their happy hour Tue-Thurs 3-6pm. Figured since we are already seated, let's eat. Our server was sweet, she was always available and very attentive--- and I loved her style! She explained the menu and gave opportunity for us to ask questions. I was able to see the Chefs at work! Everything they served was great. I wasn't a big fan of their spicy mayo, but everything else was delish and fulfilling. If you're in the area, check them out!

The crab rangoon dip and cornbread stood out the most among the appetizers. The dip was an absolute hit and is something I'd definitely recommend. The cornbread had a subtle sweetness that paired well with its flavor. I also liked how it had a waffle shape to it, very different. I was a bit skeptical about the honey walnut shrimp at first because it looked pretty simple, but it ended up being delicious. The Spam fried rice was also nice, the pineapple paired great in it. Miyabi Asian Fusion has menu items from multiple eastern countries and blends them into a single menu, which was the draw for us to come explore. We started off with the Korean Chicken for an appetizer and it was OK. It might be unfair to compare local dishes to the stated country, as the ingredients are most likely not the same, or as fresh, but that is the rule of measure I'm using. Ordered the Red Curry Chicken and it was also good, had lots of different veggies inside, but lacked any spice. I like enough spice to make my head sweat, but before my tongue loses all feeling. It did neither. We took on the crispy Texas Roll and the Tiger Roll. Again, good, above average although it was prepared nicely. Wasabi needed a bit more punch, which would have helped. The server was kind and kept our drinks full. Inside dinning had plenty of large wooden booths for larger parties. Overall, I would say this is an above average place and probably would be more of a lunch spot than I would use for a weekend dinner.
