Awesome food. The outside of the restaurant is a little unassuming and it's tucked away in the corner of a shopping complex, but as the other reviews say, food is amazing. I don't think it's truly authentic Chinese food, but an in between little diner with great and attentive service, reasonable prices and a lot on their menu. What we ordered came out super quickly and all the dishes were very good. We got egg drop soup (delicious), one stir fried seafood dish (shrimp and scallop- so good!), shrimp fried rice (great), the General Tso's beef (my husband loved this!), chicken lo mein. Generous portions for all dishes. I am sure this place is great for to go also because they must have had 25 to go orders in the 45 minutes we were there to eat. read more

The good - it was warm and the chicken is certainly white meat. The sesame balls were solid. The ribs had meat on them! The not good - everything else The chicken is tasteless (both of them)...there's a bit of heat...but almost no flavor. In either one - it just tastes like oily chicken with a bit of red pepper (both of them)...even though the sauce is totally different. The one I think is sesame chicken said no veggies, but it had a few veggies in it and that was the best part of it. The fried rice tastes like rice - absolutely nothing in it (maybe it looked at an egg once...but no onion, no carrot, no pork, nothing...and it's also oily). The ribs are decently meaty but they have this weird gelatin style sauce and not that normal red sauce on every other Chinese rib since the beginning of time. If I HAD to eat here again the ribs are the only thing I would get again. The wonton soup has 1 wonton in it each...and the wonton is 99% dough and a few scallions and nothing else in it either...it tastes like watered down broth. Service is fast and nice. They are customer friendly. Nice atmosphere. If you need to get back to work, but want a nice lunch they have good hustle so that you aren't late getting back. Wonton soup has good flavor. They have a little room in the side for bigger groups. Parking is available in the lot in front. Good portion size for the food and it's tasty. read more

Had lunch here with my mom recently. I had been here on a few occasions but never took the time to review it. Even though it was quite busy, we were seated right away. The dining area is a decent size and there is another room towards the back with seating as well. A waiter quickly arrived to bring us menus and take our drink orders. The menu offers a lot of variety, but I opted for the Almond Chicken lunch special. Started off with the hot and sour soup. There were wonton strips provided with the soup to add texture. Our entrees were brought out soon after. The serving was a good size, and was tasty. The fried rice and egg roll were a nice accompaniment. My son and I tried this place. Wasn't long wait for a table but it was busy. Parking lot is limited but we were able to find a spot. We were seated and provide with menus. The portion size was good for their lunch special. Very good service and it was clean, meaning the utensils were spotty and neither were the glasses. I had been going to this place regularly since 1996. However, over the last 5 we're so years the food has become progressively worse. Dishes, drowning in too much sauce, fried rice, coming out in consistently and occasionally having a taste/odor of cigarette smoke. It was outstanding at one time. The place is nicely remodeled and has good service, and is pretty clean, but it can't make up for the lower quality if cooking and taste. read more

Panda Express is good, but this place it better! They have a huge menu to choose from, the food is decedent, and it has very well been a substitute for Panda Express. Not to compete with fast food, but besides the complex website to order ahead, proportions are wonderful. I got lemon and orange chicken from here and it tastes amazing. They gave us enough for leftovers to eat the next day. The staff is very friendly and very professional, the interior is stunning for a place the looks small on the outside, and every time I go--the line is out the door (literally). Besides your main course, they give you your choice of 4-6 sides and 6-8 appetizers to choose from. You pay at the restaurant, they allow you to check your food before you go to make sure it's up to par, and it's made fresh! It's a distance from me, but by the time I pick it up, it's always hot even by the time I get home. read more

We've been coming here for years and absolutely love this place. The service has always been excellent, and the food has never disappointed. They're also very kid-friendly--there have been times when my kids were upset, and the staff always went out of their way to cheer them up, which really means a lot. You truly can't go wrong with any dish, and it's a great place to try something outside of your comfort zone. They recently remodeled, and while the place looks amazing inside, the prices have gone up. A dinner that used to be around $12 is now closer to $16. You do get a decent portion, so it's worth noting, but it is a noticeable increase if you've been coming here for years. That said, we'll definitely continue coming back. read more

China Inn continues to be on our regular rotation, but I wanted to tell y'all- don't sleep on that Peppery Pork!! There's no description on the menu so it's hard to figure out what it is, so I am going to tell you! It's not "peppery" as in the vegetable, but it's delicious strips of pork that are breaded and fried in a coating that's reminiscent of KFC, plated atop stir fried onions and dried chili pieces. No sauce. Ohhhh myyy! Crispy, tender, delicious, and one of our new favorites! I think it's underrated and lesser reviewed because people might be afraid to order it by its somewhat vague name, but I am here to happily clear the confusion! Get it, get it, get it! read more

Another Yelp gem! Our family was craving traditional Chinese food. Most of the places I was finding in the area were mainly Americanized Chinese food. Even this place had mainly general tsos chicken and the such in their pictures but I saw the high reviews and their menu had a different section for chefs speciality items. Those items looked more traditional even though the reviews didn't reflect a lot of people necessarily ordering it, was worth a shot. Upon getting seated, we noticed that yes their menu was heavily pushing the Americanized options there was a whole page dedicated to traditional options. They start your table off with fried wonton strips, like the ones you put on top of soups. My kids love this! We ordered 4 entrees the eggplant, the beef and bok choy, the peppery pork chops, and the black pepper shrimp. My favorite was the black pepper shrimp, they use big shrimps here and it's not overly salty. The beef and bok Choy was loaded with beef, the eggplant stayed crispy, not mushy, and pork chops were extra crispy. Each plate was huge, and plenty for our family of 6 with leftovers. The meal ended with complimentary red bean sesame balls, and this was the best part of the meal! My kids ate them all up. We met my sister-in-love and brother-in-love for lunch today at China Inn. Lunch specials are available every day of the week. Almost everyone had lunch specials except for me. Lunch specials include soup and egg roll or crab rangoon. My sister-in-love had the Spicy Shrimp and Vegetables, my brother-in-love had the Chicken and Broccoli, hubby had the Triple Delight, Dad had the Lemon Chicken, and I had Orange Beef. I keep getting shocked in San Antonio as I continue to use the Yelp app. This place on the outside look ok but the second I walked in it was already super nice vibe and layout. Then the very first server that saw me was super super nice and enjoyable. Then my server was one of my favorite kinds. He was super nice and friendly and he helped me make my choice for my lunch. He gave such a great recommendation and very many cool details. Then when I got it I was super happy bc it was delicious. Made it back finally as we have been visiting this decades ago when I lived in the area. They are still in the same shopping center right off NW Military Highway and Woodyew. I wanted to love this place because of the proximity to my home but, alas, it was not to be. Ordered the Chinese-style sweet n' sour chicken with lo mein and a side of white rice as a litmus test. The chicken, while garlicky, was not great. The lo mein was entirely inedible. The egg drop soup tasted fresh-made and was fine. The food was expensive for a Chinese lunch special. I just had a late lunch at this lovely Chinese place, and it was so delicious I had to leave a review. I ordered Triple Delight, Hot and Sour Soup, and Egg Roll. All were so hot, I had to blow on them, which is exactly what I love, and I tasted flavors that are absent in most buffets and wok in type spots. The smiling staff were so charming I could have hugged them, and they were quick to supply drink refills, napkins, and even checking our satisfaction with the food. This restaurant is THE go to Chinese restaurant within the area surrounding the San Antonio airport for MILES. Extremely clean. Wonderful and attentive staff and amazing food (with huge portions!). Had lunch but the food was enough for dinner. I had the kung pao shrimp and my friend had the sesame chicken. Get here early! Does fill quickly for lunch. Always the nicest service, lunch entree's are fresh and fast. Because they do offer a nice long list of lunch specials, I recommend starting there because it does include a soup of choice, rice or lomein, egg roll or crab puff. And if you want to sub a meat, that's also an option for an up charge below $2. Really great portions, delicious food and you're in and out of there quickly (if that's what you need for the day) We seem to manage to leave with leftovers every single time. My friends and I came for lunch. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant was very clean and it smelled good. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I ordered General Pso chicken with fried rice, egg drop soup, and an egg too. My food was fresh, hot, and flavorful. The egg drop soup came out first and was the perfect temperature to eat right away. The chicken was all white meat, no yucky fat and had a nice light breading. It wasn't spicy at all. The fried rice was plain but good, and the egg roll was good. I would dine here again!
