This venue was exactly what I was looking for. We had a baby shower for my sister. The rental process was simple and all online. I then setup a walkthrough of the venue to get pictures, measurements and to see the facilities. They grant you access to two kitchens and two bathrooms nearby. They are not in the Veranda but are in close walking distance. The Veranda was perfect, open, airy and so pretty! The rental comes with four round tables, linens and chairs. They provide spandex covers for the buffet/main tables as well as all round table linens in crisp white. Ana Alicia and the rest of the staff were amazing. Super helpful, and friendly. They are super accommodating from start to finish. The deposit was returned in less than a week! I highly recommend this venue! read more

If you've lived in Fort Bend County, you would find this museum quite interesting. If anything, it'll help you understand why the schools in the area are named the way they are (Stephen F. Austin, Isaac H. Kempner, B.F. Terry, and Jane Long to be exact.) Since this part of Texas was colonized in the 1800s, landowners here had plantations with cotton and sugar cane. And since they were part of the confederacy, they did have slaves. So yes, slaves were in this part of the country, in addition to the KKK. The museum doesn't condone slavery; it was simply letting us know that it existed around these parts. What people should take offense from is that B.F. Terry, though apparently an excellent fighter, was a slave owner and yet he has a high school named after him. The museum itself is small, but your admission also goes towards 2 house tours. I really enjoyed the Moore mansion. The docent was very good in explaining what everything was and delving deep into the family's history. If there's anything they could improve on, I would suggest updating some of the museum info, specifically, the surrounding town populations with information from the 2010 US census. Additionally, it's hard to remember the Moore family tree; I think it'd be helpful to have a poster with the family tree to help us visual learners see how everyone is related and who made what changes to the house. read more

If you're ever in the Richmond, Texas area check out the Fort Bend County Museum. Well worth a look! This museum also includes on it's grounds the John M. Moore historical home which gives you a fascinating glimpse into the history of the region in the 1800's. While you're wandering about inside the beautifully restored home, you actually get a feeling of what it might have been like living in that era many moons ago! The museum itself has a very nicely appointed series of exhibits that give you a very good depiction of Texas history as well as a history of the region. The many historical artifacts give you a lot of insight along with the well written descriptions of the history. I would advise spending a little time here to soak up the history before taking the home tour. I did read some of the previous negative reviews here and didn't quite understand where they were coming from. From my point of view, I found the museum very well laid out and the staff and docent who gave us the tour of the John M. Moore home very nice and professional. Annette, a staff member greeted us as we walked up to the museum. She mentioned to us that the admission was free today due to the fact that Hurricane Harvey had wreaked so much havoc in the area and the museum wanted to extend a courtesy to people who may have wanted to take some time to clear their minds etc. Very nice of them to do that. Just for this week. The docent who gave us a tour of the home's name was Letha. Ask for her if she is available. She is excellent! Very informative in teaching us about the life of John W. Moore who was a US Congressman who served from 1905 to 1913. The Moore family donated this magnificent home to the museum and the museum has done a fabulous job of restoring the home to it's former glory! A must see if ever in the Richmond/Rosenberg area. Walking through the home I was reminded of Bayou Bend in Houston in a way. The history is what made the home a treat to see. And having an informative guide made a big difference for us. She related to us stories of the Moore family entertaining notables such as a young LBJ in the early days of Texas on the back porch of the home. And while she was describing these soirees, I could imagine a young LBJ with Lady Bird engaged in conversation with the invitees...A charming home, the grounds are a photographer's delight! If you're into stately historical homes and Texas history you will love this place! After your tour spend some time to visit with the staff. They are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Check out the gift shop as well. Loaded with a lot of historical books about Texas and the Richmond area you're sure to find a trinket or two to add to your travel collection. If visiting the Richmond area you can't go wrong popping in on this place! Then after your tour go have dinner at the Burger Barn, Bull Creek Cafe or have an Ice Cream Sundae at Another Time Soda Fountain & Cafe in Rosenberg! read more

Disappointed. Very small museum. Not hands on for children. I was told the tour for the homes was a seperate charge. A day care was coming in so tough luck for us. Hurry up and leave lady. It would be nice if the curators would mention the old jail and really old cemetary we found by accident driving around. Hope the George Ranch is better. read more
