    What a nice vintage location..

Arrived at 7PM for Wednesday burger special, for such a great price there were 3 others ordering food. I requested a medium rare temp and was told they would get it as close as possible. This would be a miracle to have a med rare burger because parcooked burgers can not be uncooked. The burger was dry and chewy...yuck. The side salad was wilted lettuce and old tomatoes and cucumbers. The regulars were ordering fried foods which are exceptional! Stay with the friends fried food and come kd beers. Cheers

The bar area...Great bartenders & servers.

First off, let me begin with Lone Star is still a smoking bar. If this works for you then continue reading. My friend introduced me to Lone Star during one of my Texas trips. I've only been here twice and had a great time. Everyone is super friendly with good food, good service and afforable prices. As you approach Lone Star there's patio seating in front of the restaurant. You'll enter through a large, blue arch doorway with stained glass and 2 large Texas stars on each door panel. Very Texan feeling. The interior decor resembles an old saloon with lots of wood, tall 4-top tables and soft lighting. Unfortunately, the tables are not very conducive for wheelchairs. The bar area is U-shaped with many seats and friendly bartenders. There is a second floor that can be reserved and 2 pool tables for your enjoyment. Moving on to the food. Lone Star has an affordable daily $5 lunch menu Mon. - Fri. 11am - 4:00pm with 6 selections on the lunch menu. All include a side & choice of tea or soda. The $5 selection includes grilled cheese, 1/2 chicken or tuna salad, a hot dog, chicken tender combo, a grilled chicken Santa Fe plate or 5 wings combo w/5 sauces. I selected the 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and house salad. The chicken salad sandwich was served on lightly toasted healthnut bread with crisp lettuce & a sweet tomato. The chicken salad was good and ran on the sweeter side which I don't mind. (FYI, no egg, thank you). The generous portion of salad was excellent with fresh tomatoes, crisp cucumbers and onions with the lettuce chopped on the smaller side which I find much easier to eat. I also ordered a small order of homemade onion rings ($1.99). They were very tasty with the texture of onion strings. I would order all again. For entertainment they have live music on certain nights and a bar version of Bingo on Wednesday nights. I heard the Bingo is tons of fun. Check out their website for details. I'm sure I'll be back during one of my next visits to Rosenberg/Richmond. Hopefully for live music or Bingo night.

It is known for its chicken salad, and as a big chicken salad fan... I honestly didn't think it lived up to the hype. Sorry. It was good but it didn't blow me away as the best chicken salad I've ever had. Nonetheless, I had it with my "Ann's Plate" which is a scoop of chicken salad, fruit salad, and a cup of soup. Its just enough food to get you full, but light enough to not make you FEEL too full. However, that cold avocado soup-- wasn't great. I wanted to like it because it was 100 degrees out and figured on a hot day, it would be cool and refreshing. I think that was the idea behind it but the execution wasn't there. Service-wise, no problems there. The staff is friendly and works really hard, since this place is pretty busy and popular at all times of the day, at seems! Definitely a neighborhood favorite and the locals love it.

It was self seating but the way the rooms are split up, we weren't 100% sure where we were allowed to sit and no one was in the front greeting anyone as they come in so you couldn't really ask questions unless you go to the bar first which was located towards the back. The tables were all dirty so we picked the least dirty table which still had crumbs all over it but we just tried to wipe them away as best as we could. The customers who came in after us picked the table next to us which was dirty as well but their server went and wiped it down for them which was nice. Our server was kind and answered all of our questions and we did inform her it was our first time so she suggested a few appetizers and we started with French Onion Dip. It was TO DIE FOR! The tortilla chips it comes with were perfectly crisped and salted and it hit all the right flavors. The food? Oh my word. The servings are MASSIVE. My husband ordered the Philly cheese steak with a side of onion rings and it did not disappoint! I ordered the chicken Cobb salad with a side of their Brussel sprouts. The chicken Cobb salad came with two small scoops of chicken salad and it was so light and refreshing and nothing like any other chicken salad I've ever had! Our server brought me a little bit of Parmesan cheese to top off the Brussel sprouts with and it was so good. All in all, the food was a hit! I wish I remembered to try the broccoli and cheese soup so we will be back in the future. Definitely recommend. We don't understand how Sandy McGee's only has a 3.7 rating after trying this spot out!

For $8.50 (lunch), you get one entrée, two sides, ice tea, and a homemade roll/corn bread. The café was clean and looked nice inside. It had the typical country café feel with the stuffed wild animals hanging on the wall. Today, the entrees were chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, fried catfish, and stuffed pork chops. The sides were macaroni/cheese, butter beans, carrots, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. You slide your tray down picking out your food. The workers were very friendly. At the end of the line you get your roll and pay. A table on the side has all the plastic utensils and tea/water refills. We both had the chicken fried steak. The steak was good. The hand battered meat was fairly thick and the crust covered the 6-8 ounce piece of meat very well. The steak was very tender and we didn't have any issues cutting it with our plastic utensils. There was no crust hanging off the side with no meat like some places. The gravy was good as well. Along with that, I had the mashed potatoes and butter beans. The mash potatoes were red potatoes with skins on and they were good. I really liked the butter beans. My wife had macaroni/cheese and the butter beans. The macaroni/cheese was so so. All the food was hot. The catfish looked good. The only issue with this place is the ice comes out of an ice chest. Not a real big deal, but if you need more ice you have to go up to the cashier to get it. If there are people in line to pay, then it might be an issue. Fortunately, I had one of the other workers fill my glass with ice. Over all we liked this place. For less than $9 you get a hot lunch. As we were leaving more people were coming in, so hopefully this place will make it.

What does the gentlesir find after leaving the courthouse with his spurs aesthetically for the locale going jingle-jangle-jingle after a decent result? A real loss, the burger joint was closed for the day. y u do me like dis? Enter Happy's - but no, not the most whimsically offbeat patched member of Sons of Anarchy named Happy, even though the actor that portrayed him is a real life member of the Hells Angels, just like the actor that portrayed Lenny the Pimp was the real life founder of the Hells Angels Oakland charter. I imagine that this resto is named after the SOA character and the tats that accompany it, but you can never be sure. Further down the 90 sits this place which looks like a smaller, outdoor patio only, lower rent version of Little Bitty Burger Barn in the GOOF. With the positive associations to LBBB and nothing else in sight or on the yelp app interesting beyond trucking back deep into town for M&M on 90 the other way, this joint would have to do pig, it would have to do. We had to order in spanish as the only person working the window was spanish only. I speak spanglish pretty poorly but at least I acknowledge that unlike a Peggy Hill who thinks she speaks spanish flawlessly and corrects people in their first language. That duolingo owl might show up in the parking lot with a baseball bat to make me rethink spending more time with that app learning spanish. I think we avoided an international incident in ordering to obtain a burrito sans combo and a horchata which is not spelled as I imagined with an English loan word (whore chatter anyone?) I was not comfortable trying to order tacos in spanish with no cilantro because cilantro is the devil's ditch weed and should be taken out back and shot, but that is a mouthful and a mood in English which is a lot to translate even when you can lean on a certified translator like I need to do in depositions. It seems to be a family owned joint. The person at the order window checked on us a few times to make sure everything was ok. There was only one other table dining in with us on the patio, and a few people dropped in for to-go orders. With the language barrier there was going to be a limit on how much we could chat about the biz and how long they had been open, etc. I had never been this far down the 90 this way since I usually just turn around and head back to Houston. The earliest review was from 2017 so they are semi-new, or just new to the internets if they have been open longer. The Little Caesars next door looked in much better condition than most Little Caesars so I think the buildings in this area might all be pretty new, or at least kept in better shape than you usually see in neighbourhoods hosting the LCs. The location is far enough from the courthouse (not walking distance) we were the only people overdressed for that kind of thing. So the patio is more than a bit casual for dining in, cargo shorts or worse are perfectly acceptable. The burrito is very ricey which does not seal very well in the absence of the moisture of the beans or salsa, so it is sloppy and falls apart quickly. You are not offered plastic ware and I don't know how to say that in spanish so I had to make do with just putting hands on the burrito. Very sloppy for a burrito, a spoon would have really improved the burrito eating experience. This is not a burrito you can eat whilst driving, shifting gears, and trying to change a CD so that is really the only negative strike against them, because even a Taco Bell burrito you can capably one-hand in the car since they are sealed up well like a boat that likely won't sink, until it does for insurance purposes - just like the Freebirds, but not the Chipotle who usually overstuff so much the tortilla develops not just an existential tear in their existence, but a tangible one where all the good stuff spills out and you need to either lick the burrito droppings off of the shifter or find a napkin. Lower price points than your Freebirds, Chipotles, et al. and it is possibly a locally owned small biz so it is worth checking out in Richmond when you are in need of an impromptu lunch and the burger place you can walk to from the courthouse garage is closed. But dine in; translate plastic spoon in advance to obtain one; and don't take the burrito out on the road, and you will have the best time possible.
