I was in Texas on business when I stumbled into this community bar. The locals were welcoming and offered specials every night from cheap wings to a whole steak meal. Not only was the tap selection good but the food as well. I was unable to stay to the weekend to see the place get busy with live music but I am sure my time would have been well spent. read more

Arrived at 7PM for Wednesday burger special, for such a great price there were 3 others ordering food. I requested a medium rare temp and was told they would get it as close as possible. This would be a miracle to have a med rare burger because parcooked burgers can not be uncooked. The burger was dry and chewy...yuck. The side salad was wilted lettuce and old tomatoes and cucumbers. Angel, the chef, makes great appetizers and sandwiches. I love the BLT with American cheese and the fresh spinach dip and the buttery crustless toast wedges.The food is amazing and old school Southern flavor! I am from Louisiana. Angel met me at my table so I could thank him in person, and there were over 40 people seated around us. The waiter, James, goes above and beyond! He is a great waiter, and had many tables! First off, let me begin with Lone Star is still a smoking bar. If this works for you then continue reading. My friend introduced me to Lone Star during one of my Texas trips. I've only been here twice and had a great time. Everyone is super friendly with good food, good service and afforable prices. As you approach Lone Star there's patio seating in front of the restaurant. You'll enter through a large, blue arch doorway with stained glass and 2 large Texas stars on each door panel. Very Texan feeling. The interior decor resembles an old saloon with lots of wood, tall 4-top tables and soft lighting. Unfortunately, the tables are not very conducive for wheelchairs. The bar area is U-shaped with many seats and friendly bartenders. There is a second floor that can be reserved and 2 pool tables for your enjoyment. Moving on to the food. Lone Star has an affordable daily $5 lunch menu Mon. - Fri. 11am - 4:00pm with 6 selections on the lunch menu. All include a side & choice of tea or soda. The $5 selection includes grilled cheese, 1/2 chicken or tuna salad, a hot dog, chicken tender combo, a grilled chicken Santa Fe plate or 5 wings combo w/5 sauces. I selected the 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and house salad. The chicken salad sandwich was served on lightly toasted healthnut bread with crisp lettuce & a sweet tomato. The chicken salad was good and ran on the sweeter side which I don't mind. (FYI, no egg, thank you). The generous portion of salad was excellent with fresh tomatoes, crisp cucumbers and onions with the lettuce chopped on the smaller side which I find much easier to eat. I also ordered a small order of homemade onion rings ($1.99). They were very tasty with the texture of onion strings. I would order all again. For entertainment they have live music on certain nights and a bar version of Bingo on Wednesday nights. I heard the Bingo is tons of fun. Check out their website for details. My Husband and I frequent there on Tuesday nights for the awesome steak night they have but I don't know what had happened to the original staff and management? We noticed over the last 6 months that the employee turn over could be the death of this place? We went Tuesday night 08/29 and got seated , no one ever even acknowledged us sitting there waiting to be waited on. One of the waitresses was outside collecting empty glasses/bottles and my husband even held the door open for her as we entered the building. Never said Thank You, have a seat, someone will be with you shortly not even a kiss my butt comment... she and one other waitress walked by our table multiple times and didn't even say "We will be with you in just a minute" I guess they thought we just came in to sit in the AC?? After a 15 minute wait we got up and we thought the guy bartending would kinda say something to us and not a word from him either!!! There were only 3 other tables occupied inside and 1 person seated at the bar and a group outside sitting. The only person that spoke to us was the cook at the grill and he told us to " Have a great night" Well I doubt we EVER go back again me and my Fluor Group will find appreciation located somewhere else. Where is Kara are friendly waitress we had for a year + ?? On another note. We went to 9'ers BB Que and the manager even came out to our table and thanked us for coming in and all the plans they have for there upcoming concerts and karaoke nights there. We have been going to Lonestar on and off for a long time. They have really nice pool table and shuffle board. The drinks are a little higher but they are good. Steak night is awesome. They are made on the grill outside. It is plenty to share and they have a 'fixins' table to dress up your salad and potato. They have live music some nights and some is just the juke box. Which is nice. They play all local sports so you don't miss the game. The staff is friendly and so are the patrons. We have food there, not just the steak, many times. And it is very good not typical greasy bar food. You can even get a salad. I LOVE the buffalo chicken sandwich and it is HUGE. read more

This place is definitely a bar, no waitress to speak of (just Cindy behind the bar), lots of open floor space and a stage in the corner. Before this place burned last year it had the reputation of being a good ol' boys place, where county officials would go on lunch breaks and after work to hang out, looks like they got some new digs but the soul is intact. Bonus touch: the burnt sign on the wall from the old building. We both ordered the bacon cheeseburger with all the fixin's on a jalapeno bun with fries. The buns tasted very fresh, moist and sweet. The burger was seared just right and cooked all the way through. We didn't ask for them to be cooked to any particular level, they just came medium-well. The burger was delicious, best I've had in this neck of the woods. The fries has a pre-frozen taste and texture to them, but were sufficient for sopping up burger juices. They had St. Arnold's Christmas Ale on tap, which is always a welcome addition. Of course I passed and ordered a water, I'm a county employee, we have a reputation to uphold! I really wanted to like Lone Star, however it was not to be. A group of us, about 22, had called several days ahead to see if they could accommodate us and were told yes, come on. First thing that was disappointing was they only have high tables requiring you to sit on bar stools - ok for younger folks perhaps, but not everyone. This was for lunch and upon entering, it was very dim - ok for evening but at lunch a little more light would have been appreciated. Very friendly waitress came by to take drink orders. It took awhile to get them and that's when we found out she was the only waitstaff and there was only one cook. Long story short, we were the first table to be waiting on, so after an hour our food came out - barely warm to room temperature. Hubby said burger was good and my onion rings were edible, but they would have been great had they been hot. After about 30-45 min. the next table was served and after being there 2 hours a 3rd table served. Due to a medical issue, the 4th table had to get up and leave to get something to eat quickly. The waitress remained helpful and friendly. The bar tender or maybe he was the cook came around to fill drinks. They did the best they could. Whoever agreed to serve 20+ people arriving at the same time should have made sure adequate staff was on hand. What should have been a great experience was exasperating. They get 1 star because the staff worked hard and stayed helpful with every request, never grumbling. read more

So we went to bar with some friends we came in town from round rock tx and we where drinking and having a great so we decided to order some food but some how our food order never came over to the kitchen so i not sure who takens the order off the computer but the cooker decide that she was not going to place order and the kicthen was not closed so by TABC law if a customer needs food to make sure they are safe to drive home but the cook feels that they did not get order ok so fix it make the food very poor management in this bar. I had to come back and rewrite this review. Because I was so Pissed off from the service here. My family decided to go on a Pokemon Go raid at this establishment. We have lived in Richmond now for about 5 years and never once stopped in here. The night before we talked about giving it a try. So when this raid came up it gave us the perfect opportunity to do so. We walked in and it was typical bar atmosphere. Bit dark I was surprised to see smoking was allowed. Have to say though it was not bad at all. Not like the old days where everyone smoked up a storm and you had to walk through clouds of smoke. So while we were were waiting for the Pokemon Go Raid the brother and I decided to have a drink. They didn't have Mikes Hard Lemonade and I did not ask if they had an alternative nor did they offer one. I am not a beer guy. So decided to fall back on my favorite a Mai Tai. A simple enough drink and when done right very tasty. Needless to say I have no idea what I got the first time. It may have been a Mai Tai of some sort or perhaps she did not shake it up and thus I got what I got. So I tried to track down the bar tender. I was having no luck. A Waitress came by and I asked her if we could get this re made. You would have thought I asked for a gold bar her reaction and words were so short and huffy. Something like I am not a bar tender... No sweetheart your not but you are an employee of the establishment who could have just asked the bartender to remake it for me. After all its called customer service. Any hoo she tracked down another bartender to remake the drink. Big mistake. I don't know what this bartender called a Mia Tai but she may have put some of the ingredients in the glass but what I got was a glass of Alcohol. It was literally undrinkable and way way over poured. She stated she put 151 in it. Thus not really a Mai Tai. I said it tasted better then the last one. (which it did not) I just said that because I hate sending stuff back 1 time but a second time I will not. So I got no drink in reality and it cost me $6 and $1 for the tip. Yes I paid before I tasted it and assumed it would be good. We finally found an open table. Yes the waitress came by many times. Never once asked us if we wanted or needed anything. Go figure. Needless to say we took up one of her tables for maybe 10-20 minutes. But not once did she address us in anyway. So we were not able to inquire about any food that they sold. And no we did not leave her a tip either... I hate not leaving tips because I used to work in a bar many moons ago. But really would any of you leave a tip for a waitress like this? So since I feel so bad I will leave a tip here for her. TIP: I don't care if your having a bad day. I don't care if your busy. I came to this establishment out of curiosity of the establishment. I was a paying customer who you decided I was not worthy of your time. Now the tip! Treat every customer with the respect you would like shown to you. So I was a first time customer who was taken for granted. I can assure you I will never set foot in this establishment again and I would also caution you about trying the place out. I know if I owned this place the waitress would have been fired right on the spot, bartenders would be questionable as well. If you do not know how to make the drink just tell me "I am sorry I don't know how to make that." I would have respected you for telling me and would have went for something more simple to make like the next drink I would have asked for would have been a slow gin fizz. Absolutely worst experience ever. Last night with my husband (LEO) and two friends we took an Uber to Lonestar around 11:45am. The bar closes at 2:00am so we had a nice solid two hours in front of us to enjoy some music and shuffleboard. Long story but it was such an awful experience I feel it must be shared. We walked in to the bar, were asked for ID which we all produced and in was given a wristband. A waitress walked in and whispered into the "bouncers" ear and then we were told, you have been drinking and you all need to leave. We were confused but we left. We walked outside called an Uber. Standing inside the gate we were talking amongst ourselves, not yelling, just really bewildered about what just happened. There was a waitress outside while we were waiting. She said that we needed to exit the property immediately so we walked outside the gates area to the sidewalk. She was YELLING they owned the sidewalk and we couldn't stand on it. The next thing she yells is Eric, get over here this guy (my husband I assume) is assaulting me! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My husband had his hands in his pockets head down. Not one time did he raise his voice, yell, or cause a scene. I cannot believe this lady was saying this. "Eric" who was also the "bouncer" said he was calling the cops. We never yelled back. We did nothing. We walked to the end of the street and left in our Uber. I dont know if this stemmed from waitresses not wanting to work, a bouncer who thinks hes Mr. Tough Guy, racism, or what. I understand there are two sides to every story and I'm very level headed and rational but in this case I am flabbergasted at the events that took place. I cannot make heads or tails of it. We will not visit ever again. We will ask our other friends who are law officers, fire fighters, and others who frequent LoneStar for the music and good times that they no longer give their patronage to this establishment. read more

One of my two favorite bars in the Rosenberg/Richmond area. Fantastic staff! Always a pleasure to see the staff happy as it sets the tone for a great time. Everything from karaoke to full bands. Shuffleboard table, pool table, jukebox , and don't leave until you ask to play Yahtzee. Good food and quick service. My other favorite bar is much close to my house, but Rosenberg has passed a smoking ban while Richmond allows for smoking so I find myself at the Lone Star quite regularly. Salud! read more

Has a cute little band stage and a nice little facility. Have been there a few years back for dancing and drinks with friends which was very smoky but decent. Went to a "steak" night a few months back and we weren't impressed. If you're looking for mediocre food, then you'll be okay. The service was decent but we were told by the bartender, "we are racist here." She wasn't kidding!!! We witnessed them serve a black gentleman with contempt and inappropriate comments. How did we not know about this place yet!? It has all of my favorite things to have with a bar: -live music nights - a working jukebox with a huge selection -big screen TVS -Amazing food -local beers on tap -great, friendly staff My husband and I found this place through Yelp when I knew that I wanted a really good burger and that I also wanted to shoot some pool. I was not disappointed. The food: HOLY HAMBURGER! We split their regular burger, on a jalepeno bun and substituted the fries for onion rings. I am only disappointed that I didn't get a whole one for myself. The bun was probably the best bun I have had in a long time. It was soft and buttery and the jalepenos were just right- not too overpowering. The whole burger itself was so good that hubby didn't even want to put condiments on it. I left mine loaded up and added my regular ketchup and mustard. I woke up the next morning wanting to go back for a breakfast burger. No lie- That good! The onion rings were handmade fresh in the kitchen, and we could tell not only by their appearance but from their taste. They were delicious. A salty batter really complimented the cooked onions. This is where I agreed with hubby: they were so good that I ate them without ketchup. That is a first for me. We also split the fried pickles for an appetizer and the batter was very similar to the onion rings. Delicious again. The pickles were sliced thin and they were still juicy as you bit into their fried awesomeness. The only improvement I would suggest is to upgrade the plain ranch that is served with them and add some seasoning. I think even a little Tonys mixed in would have been a good improvement. The atmosphere: From the second we walked in the door, we were greeted by friendly faces. The night we came, there was a live band so there was a $7 cover. The door guys welcomed us, told us all about the band, and recommended food on the menu. The Saloon itself was big. It has a good sized full bar, a stage, two pool tables, a lot of seating, a shuffleboard, darts, some video arcade games like Golden Tee, a jukebox with a huge library of Texas country and old school country, and it has an upstairs deck to overlook the whole place. It is decorated with the usual country rustic mixed with bar signs and TVs, and my favorite part is that it sits like 100 ft or less from the train tracks. When the train passed by several times during the night, we could feel the vibrations in our chairs and feet. It completed the rustic feel of downtown historic Richmond to have the train tracks running right there. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a night out with good food, music and fun atmosphere. We are going to come back to check this place out on game night....mostly because I really want another one of those out-of-this-world burgers. :) read more

We decided to check out a local bar and went off the YELP reviews. We had 3 or 4 drinks each along with burgers for dinner. I have to say that was the best swiss-mushroom burger that I've had in 15 or 20 years!! Not sure where their buns are made but they are to die for! Makes me want to go back just for a burger. I had the Chicken Salad, which was Fantastic. I also ordered the "Harley Hogs", BBQ'D Pork on the bone which melted in your mouth. The Glaze on the pork was a bit too sweet for my palate, however, The St. Arnold's Ale (Local only to Texas) balanced it out well.
