This place has some wonderful light displays. A great place for a family outing. There are so many frames and arches for family pictures and Christmas cards. I think my two favorites are the white crown and the carriage you can sit in. Both are lovely. Getting into and out of the parking lot is easy with multiple exits. We went on a Saturday and it was slightly crowded and there were some Lines to the best photo ops. Only about 8 families deep tho, so it probably went fast. We just went to the next photo place. Most impressive were the castle, mermaid, carriage and white crown. The alleyways with curved light features were very cute. I did not see the maze or space shuttle that were mentioned in other posts. It took us about 1 hour and 15 min to view all the lights. we have attended magical winter lights for years now, and it truly gets better every year. the choice to move to the fort bend county fairgrounds in rosenberg was a good call. the venue is gigantic with plenting of parking, sooo many lights, a carnival, food and craft vendors, and acrobat performances. at ~$25 (cheaper on groupon), the entry fee is really worth the amount of attractions they offer, plenty entertaining for both adults and kids alike - the lights: very stunning and there are so many different themes. travel through an ice kingdom, stroll through dinosaurs, enter in outer space, and end up in the east! this year for the first time they have a cozy and festive mini train that takes you through the park for only $5. also don't miss the wishing tree and write your prayers and dreams to hang up for the new year :) - the acrobat performances: BESTTT part of the experience hands down. this alone is worth coming here for. these acrobats are insanely talented and showcase chinese culture so beautifully through classic stunts, beautiful clothing, traditional chinese dances, music choices, etc. the performances are different each year, but they last around 30-40 minutes and have 2 showings every night! - the vendors: i dont really care for them since they are overpriced (as expected), but its hard to resist a cup of hot chocolate or some elotes on a cold winter night. the crafts are pretty interesting and uniquely chinese, which is worth checking out at the very least. - the carnival: it seems like they just stuck this part on for people to do in case they are bored, but its nothing special. just an average carnival with typical games and pay-to-win prizes overall this is an amazing experience to get into the holiday season and in my honest opinion sooo much more worth than constellation field or surrounding light shows. some aspects of it definitely shine brighter than the others, but theres def plenty to do and see regardless! read more

Taking your little ones to see Christmas lights is always a beautiful experience. At magical winter lights, we made great memories walking around and seeing the beautiful displays, taking pictures, riding the dinosaur ride on, and even getting to watch an acrobat show?? That last one...so interesting and at a Christmas light display nonetheless. Some may complain about the entry price but when you see all the details, I personally think it's worth it. I've paid for exhibits a lot more underwhelming... I didn't see a single bulb that was burnt out which I think is an expected but still impressive feat. read more

Everything was beautifully presented. The venue was perfect for this event. It took 3 months to setup the whole presentation. I was very impressed by the various themes--perfect for all ages. What a magical experience! I first heard about The Magical Winter lights festival last January when my Family and I moved to Texas. Sadly, we missed by a week. I was determined to go when tickets were on sale again. This was the perfect Christmas gift! Lucky for me, my father purchased tickets for us instead of individual gifts. (MILITARY DISCOUNTS) As a veteran, I was hoping he could use his military discount to purchase our tickets. Sadly, military discounts cannot be applied online. We visited on a Tuesday around 8:45PM. (PARKING) Parking was easy thanks to festival being located at the Katy Mills mall parking lot. (THE FESTIVAL) The lights festival is magical, spectacular and a must see. With over 60 lanterns installed there's plenty to see. Some lanterns have a story listed next to the each lantern. I do recommend bring a wagon for your kiddos and even a tripod to take your own photos. I flew my drone around the festival, the view is amazing from up high. This place is definitely kid friendly for children ages three and up. Mini Dinosaur rides, photo, ops, and more. Light up trinkets Are available for purchase throughout the festival (THE CARNIVAL) I was told at the front gate that someone would check for our ticket at the back of the festival. Which didn't end up happening. So I was a little confused. I assume the festival is free to walk through but there's a cost for rides. I didn't see anyone available to scan our carnival ticket. Instead, we got food from one of the nearby food trucks. I forgot the name of the kebab food truck but it was Delicious! The steak kebab was perfectly seasoned!! We also purchased mini donuts from from another vendor I forgot the name, but I highly recommend checking her out. The owner is really nice. There's also live performances every night along with a tent to sit under to escape the cold air. I would definitely come back here again with my family we enjoyed ourselves. The prices throughout this event are affordable, which I appreciate as a parent. I do wish we would've purchased more food while we were here. But of course we ate prior to visiting. read more

I love magical winter lights. I've been every year with my family and this year they moved it to Katy which was great since it's a lot closer than Baytown. I do think this location was a lot smaller but the lights were just as beautiful and I enjoyed my experience here. I believe tickets are $25 on their website but I've always purchased mine on groupon for $16. read more

It's at The Fort Bend County Fairgrounds this year. Mediocre. Upon entering, I was trying to figure out why there were dinosaurs. I was expecting Christmas lights. Luckily that was in the back. That part was gorgeous! People...save your money and leave the concession stands alone. OVERPRICED. I'll speak for the red and yellow stand next to the taco stand. The lemonade tasted like crystal light, the chicken tenders on a stick were $15 and probably from a Tyson chicken bag, and the fries....cold, limp, and just a pile of brown old potatoes in a paper basket. This concession stand should be ashamed for putting out overpriced garbage. We came, we saw, we will not be coming back. read more

Beautiful lights! $25 to see all these lights is definitely worth it. You can also buy an attractions ticket to ride the rides for the same price, but we didn't. It was cold so remember to bring a jacket the next time they have this again! It was really fun! read more

This is a horrible money grabber IMO. The lights are so-so, the "carnies" are rude and disrespectful, and the food is extremely overpriced. A greasy turkey leg was a whopping $20! A 20oz drink was $8 with a refill setting you back $4! I passed with the quickness. Besides - there's SO MANY quality restaurants nearby to patronize AND for less money! Against my better judgment based on a 2015 visit to the same show in a different area, my family and I went to the Katy "festival" with some really dear friends, only to be left with a poor experience and a $140 expense... and that was a Groupon expense nonetheless! The carnival portion was something else... a side of the freeway type setup that reeked of urine and cigarettes, and was manned by ignorant folks with major chips on their shoulders. I don't think I encountered one respectful or polite worker. Even the ladies tending to the wristband kiosk were questionable - eating and talking at the same time is just disgusting. The ride lights were half on and half off, were dirty, and many were empty. The lights - definitely not worth the $90 we paid for entrance. The lights were spread out, the cords were poorly covered and a trip hazard, and again - very poorly manned. At literally 9:56pm (the park closed at 10), they closed the rides down - even though the majority didn't last more than 2 minutes. So we lost money on the wristbands... Not an experience I'm willing to recommend. However, if you want an expensive & nasty outing - this is definitely for you. Me? I feel bamboozled. read more

It's a bit pricy but the lights were cool. I didn't go into the carnival section so I can't comment on the food or rides. However, you can easily find cheaper food options within a short drive. The lights are located in a mall parking lot. We just parked in the free parking lot close to the movie theater. Very short walk over. I can't justify paying $10 for parking unless you're really lazy. There is only one entrance. You can probably spend like 30 mins to 1 hr here if you're just doing the lights and taking pictures. read more

PARK NEAR THE BIG CASTLE, not the carnival rides. That's the side where the entrance is. If you park on the side with the carnival rides, you'll have to walk a long way to get to the entrance. Magical Winter Lights consists of 2 parts: the first part is a large area where you walk around and admire / take your own pictures with the Christmas/holiday light decorations. There are multiple themed areas within, such as a dinosaur area, ocean inspired area, frozen animal area, etc. The second part is at the back, where there are carnival rides (including a Ferris wheel, carousel, and some kiddie rides and some "thriller" type rides) and carnival food stands. Admission includes just the lights -- You have to purchase wristbands separately (there are self-serve kiosks to buy) if you want to ride the rides. We spent about 30-40 minutes on the part with the lights and about 20-30 minutes on the carnival rides. Why 3 stars?-- the price was $$$. We didn't try the food but after finishing here, we went to Katy Asia Town for dinner - there are so many restaurant and dessert options there! I was really looking forward to the lights being here in katy, but unfortunately it being moved meant it was downsized by ALOT. if you've never been you may still enjoy them (like my aunt who had never been) but I had been last year at the race park where it was HUGE. Complete sections were missing this year, way less food options too and seating. I went with a few other adults, so if you go with kids I'm sure they'll appreciate it alot more. I can't honestly comment on the carnival because I'm not a carnival person, so if it has gotten smaller or stayed the same size I would not know unfortunately. I want the lights to stay in katy, but it needs to have a spot better catered for it, one where it can be nearly as big as before and not be in the way of anything. I'm sure the parking situation isn't ideal during the holiday season. Food was okay, had a blooming onion and it was too greasy. Best option there I don't remember the name of, but it's a smaller tent vendor that sells Cajun style food! My dad got a shrimp taco if I'm correct, and that was delicious. Also there are 2 places here selling coffee/hot chocolate, a food truck and a tent vendor. Be sure to look at both places to see the differences in menu AND and prices. read more

I would not recommend spending your time or money at this event. It's essentially a roadside carnival masquerading as a Christmas light show. I'm pretty sure we were in an abandoned parking lot that was being repurposed into this carnival. You'll be shuffling through broken asphalt and black, loose gravel the entire experience. There were no workers or security guards in sight in the Christmas light walk through area so people are just scattered, rudely pushing through to take pictures at designated spots which were so chaotic. The carnival area was scary. I genuinely was concerned with the way a man and woman were looking at my children. I have no proof of this but I was concerned there might be human traffickers there looking for families not paying attention to their children. That's how intense the staring/ pacing areas where families were. The entire carnival area was incredibly sketchy. The entire experience was insanely expensive and low quality. Don't be deceived by their marketing videos it's obvious they spent a lot of money to hide the flaws. I wanted a nice, family friendly Christmas light walk-through to take my family too and I'm so disappointed and disgusted with the entire night. Save yourself the trouble and money and find something else to do. read more
