(2/5 stars) I've been a loyal customer of Fortune China for years, so it disappoints me to write this review. During my most recent visit, I ordered the Chicken with String Beans and specifically asked if it was spicy. I was assured it was not. After driving all the way back home to the Eastern Shore (I was only in the area for a medical appointment), I opened my food and found that it was definitely spicy--you could clearly see the peppers in the dish. When I called the restaurant, they told me they would remake it, but only if I brought the original meal back. Unfortunately, that's not realistic when you live over an hour away. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--just a solution that acknowledged their mistake, such as a credit for my next visit. Instead, I was left with no dinner that I could eat and the choice of either throwing away my meal or making a two-hour round trip, spending more on gas than the entrée was worth. This has always been one of my go-to Chinese restaurants, but this isn't the first time I've been disappointed. Good customer service isn't just about remaking an order--it's about considering what's reasonable for the customer. I hope they improve how they handle situations like this because I'd really like to continue supporting them. read more

If you want some sauce you got to ask for it, they won't just give them to you. But I have no problem with that. Food is good. 5 stars from me. We discovered that this restaurant was under new management so decided to give it a try. My wife had Salt and Pepper Shrimp, my son had morengo delight, and my dish was chicken chow fun. These were new dishes for us and we really enjoyed our choices. I particularly liked the Chow fun. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. We will definitely return! read more

The food is ok not like the previous owners and the prices are higher. I use to purchase from this place often but now I rarely go there. Maybe if they season the food and drop the prices somewhat myself and some of my friends will purchase more often. read more

These small business Chinese restaurants have such a standard taste that it's hard to differentiate one from the other. Fortune China is just another one of this group. Mostly it's just very salty and greasy food without a diversity of flavours. I will say that for the moment the prices are quite good. The portions are generous for what you pay and the quality of the ingredients is great. I got the egg foo young and the upgraded wonton soup. The soup had good chunks of chicken and shrimp. Regarding the ambiance, I didn't eat there and I guess people don't eat out at these places much these days, but the place has a nice dark enveloping environment. If you know what you want and it's this sort of food, then Fortunate China isn't much worse nor much better than any other. You'll get what you expect. read more

I heard that fortune China has a new owner, so I decided to try it tonight, so I ordered BBQ spare ribs and Roast pork Taiwanese noodles. The taste is so good, the ribs are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the texture is very good. The Taiwanese noodles are just right. The price is a little higher than the previous owner, but I think it's worth it. I will come again. Thank you fortune China for providing delicious food to our dormitory. read more

This place was recommended by my Mom so I decided to give them a try. I called in my order. I ordered a few different dishes to share with my family. I got a Qt. Big Shrimp Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Chicken & String Beans and Crab Wontons. The only think we didn't care for was the Chicken pieces in the Chicken & String Beans, they were very small and stringy pieces. I'm used to getting big chicken chunks with this dish and the Orange Chicken was not fresh looked like leftovers. Their Fried Rice was good I did like the big pieces of Shrimp and the Crab Wontons were good too. The Staff were friendly too. I might give them another try. read more

Order some food through DoorDash. I ordered the house lo me in, yong chow wonton soup for 2, Szechuan soft wonton, and a small general Tso chicken. When the food arrived it was nice a hot. Loved the yong chow wonton soup it had lots of vegetables and was tasty. The Szechuan soft wonton wasn't was I was expecting but I love wontons so i still ate it. The lo mein was ok, just missing some flavor. The general tso chicken was better that a lot of other places I've ordered from. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't amazing, just ok. I would definitely give this place another shot. I will try some different items next time. read more

I ordered Shrimp Egg Foo Young and Shrimp Yat Gaw Mei. Food was piping hot when I picked it up and I received service with a smile and was met with friendly conversation. Restaurant was pretty big and had two areas for indoor eating but the indoor eating is closed right now due to Covid. I called in the order and it was ready on time. I liked how the Egg Foo Young patties were separately placed in their own container and the gravy was on the side so the patty wouldn't be soggy. I ordered large vegetable chow mein! As soon as I received the bag I stated this is not mine. I received a bucket plastic container full of broth and vegetable. A bunch of little bags on fried wontons. I owner? Said yes it is there are noodles in there and a side of rice. I opened the container later a.d found only vegetables and broth with a side of white rice! As far as I know, it should be vegetables with fried noodles in a wok! read more

The food is good and can be very good and you also get a plastic tupperware tray with a lid when your order the dinner combination or lunch combo. On the negative side they are a little more expensive than usual but only by a dollar or so. Also, the rice often lacks flavor. We usually order the sesame chicken and ask if they can make it spicy, which they are always willing to do. We recommend this restaurant if your in the area and looking for Chinese food. read more

I ordered my usual shrimp and broccoli made spicy along with a small shrimp lo mein and a shrimp egg foo young. The shrimp and broccoli was so spicy that I couldn't eat it this time. The concentration/amount of red peppers used was in excess of the norm. I called and spoke to the manager who asked me not to eat it and bring it back. The time was 9:47 pm on a Saturday evening. I explained that I live over 15 miles away. He, the owner, said that he could do nothing for me unless I returned the uneatened portion that night. He also wanted to tell me how they make the dish and how much red pepper is used and I should have specified how spicy. I attempted to explain that I order the dish the same way each time and have never been advised to say how spicy. Instead of trying to accommodate a customer of over 20 years I was meant with resistance, arrogance, disrespect and rudeness. Needless to say, this business has lost a longtime customer. I refuse to patronize anyone who tells me that since I already started eating the dish it would have to be replaced with a smaller portion and to actually bring the uneaten portion back. This is an insult. I'm not calling to complain to get a free meal and I'm not sure what kind of customers you're accustomed to dealing with but you will never get another penny from me or my family as we will take our business elsewhere in the future. read more

Fortune China is good for what it is but not much more. A little hungry, I ordered vegetable fried rice and was slightly irritated to find a small piece of beef inside. Was it beef fried rice and they picked out the meat? I don't know. Although I'm not 100% vegetarian, I don't eat meat every day so this was both annoying and careless. The service is militant and even if the restaurant is empty, which was the case when I went, the wait is always long. read more

First visit. The food is mostly american chineese that wasn't the best we've ever had, with exception of very good Beef Chow Fun. The service was nice but very slow due to the deficit of the workers. you could see that they are going through the hard aftercovid time hiring people, so for dine in they are open only for lunch, and take out dinner time. The only dish we had which I was not a big fan of was the pad Thai. It tastes like it had ketchup in it. Despite that fact, the food was very fresh and delicious. This is my second order from this place. Both times the sushi was good. I ordered crab wontons and omg I but a shell?! The time on their website was incorrect so I made an order that couldn't be fulfilled, so I got to the restaurant and saw they were closed and the man who closed up the store told me they close earlier than the website said, apologized, and gave me a free bag of egg rolls that was really good. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a Chinese food place. Ordered some chow fan, dumplings, and two orders of soup. When my food came a half hour later than advertised, I realized the order was wrong. Called in, and the best they could do was have me come on to pick up a replacement. When I brought up the fact one of the dishes was cold and old, I had to fight to have it remade. When I got home with the replacement soup and chow fan, I opened it up to discover I was given fried rice. Either this place is incompetent, or spitefully ruined my family's Friday night dinner. My go to spot for sushi in Owings Mills. I love the dragon roll and Maki combo. They aslo have really good seafood soup amongst other things. When I go in the staff is always polite and courteous. It's pretty peacful in there. Also they deliver in decent time. I really like this spot. read more

What a lovely Chinese/ Japanese restaurant hidden away in a local strip mall. I had won ton soup in a golden chicken broth. My date had the miso soup. They both were warn and very satisfying. For appetizers we shared the pu pu platter. Which consisted of an egg roll, shrimp toasts, crab Rangoon, BBQ spare ribs, beef teriyaki. For an entree we shared the " romantic squid"( I am not kidding). It was amazing crispy salt and pepper squid. Very light and crispy. They gave us sherbet for dessert. This is a great restaurant. It's hard finding good Chinese food lately but I have nothing negative to say about the food or the delivery of it. The food was hot when it arrived, it came with enough sauce packets and even though I ordered extra shrimp for my Shrimp Fried Rice entree it would have been fine without it. We also ordered White Meat Chicken Fried Rice, Shrimp Egg Rolls and Shrimp Toast and no one had a complaint. I will be ordering again soon without hesitation. read more
