I read from another Yelper, a few days ago, that he never wants to see the words, "Hidden gem" in a review again. Okay. This is a secret jewel. I had no idea this little place was hidden (drat, there's that word), I mean cached in the barren wasteland that is Tamarac. Decor is typical of little home style Chinese restaurants. There are about a dozen tables and one waitress that is evidently ever present. She had us seated and with menus in hand. Like most Chinese menus, this one was expansive and it took us a while. In the meantime, she brought us some fried wonton strips and a choice of hot mustard or sweet sauce for dipping. I always have trouble making up my mind, because I have so many favorites. This time I decided to throw calories to the wind and go with a combination dinner. These are a great value. For around $8, you get your choice of soup, an egg roll, entree, steamed or fried rice and ice cream. You can't beat that, if the food is any good. I opted for the wonton soup, honey garlic chicken, fried rice and chocolate ice cream. The soup was our right away. The broth was rich and flavorful and the dumplings were quite plump with delicious filling. Shortly later, the egg rolls arrived. While they could have been a bit crisper, they were still very good. They did have an obvious, but not heavy, flavor of horseradish, which I found a bit odd. I'm not a fan of horseradish, but it was still a better than average egg roll. This is when things slowed down. Yes, there was only one waitress, but there was only one other table occupied. It wasn't a problem, because we still had crunchy wontons and the soup and egg roll were fairly filling. It was 15-20 min. before our entrees arrived. Before she even got to the table, the awesome scent of garlic and honey filled the air. I took the cloche off the dish and it had a very nice portion of big chunks of chicken swimming in sauce. The fried coating was perfection. It was thin and so crispy that it shattered when I pierced it with my fork. The chicken breast pieces were big and juicy. It was the best honey garlic chicken I've ever had. The fried rice was very dark, I've never seen any quite like it. I was afraid that it was going to be overdosed with soy sauce, but it wasn't. The rice was fresh and flavorful. I also tried my daughter's General Tso's chicken, which was just as good as mine. My neighbor offered me a taste of her lo mein, which I can never resist. The noodles were thinner than most that I've seen, had great flavor and nice chunks of chicken. The only thing that fell short was the ice cream. I think the label was applied a little loosely. It was creamier than ice milk, but not really rich like a good ice cream. But really, by then I was so happily stuffed that I really didn't care. After 6 years of getting our Chinese take-out from the same restaurant, I think we'll be defecting. I can't wait to eat there again! read more

I've ordered take-out from this location twice now but haven't been the one picking it up, so can't comment on the location just YET! I However, I do plan on eating-in sometime though because the food is mmm good! I'm surprised at how hard it's been to find good, consistent Chinese food in South Florida. A big pet peeve of mine is that I'm used to fried rice being a little more brown than yellow. Fortune's fried rice is just right in terms of color and taste. Not too salty, just the right texture, just the right balance of rice and meat (pork in our case). Also ordered fried chicken wings and orange chicken. The wings were generous portions. I've seen other spots cut one wing in half and call it two. Umm, no? Fortune's not stingy. The orange chicken glaze had a little kick but not spicy, just how I like it. Glazed entirely but not drenched. Phone ordering's a breeze with the gentleman on the other line speaking good English. Quite the perk. So. Much. Food. We ordered take out, got the general Tso's, and I got the kung pao. I always get kung pao and hunan chicken mixed up. The dinner combinations come with pork fried rice, a soup, and a huge egg roll. The food was great. The rice had actual chunks of pork in it. The kung pao was delicious and there was a lot in there. I haven't tried the general Tso's yet, but my wife didn't complain. My only complaints are that we needed some sweet and sour sauce for the egg rolls. And I wanted some chop sticks. These could be my own fault, so I didn't deduct a star. oh yeah, we also ordered a pint of lo mein. I tried to sub the rice for lo mein but the waiter on the phone said no. No biggie. It was $5. Prices were solid for local chinese food. I'll be back! Maybe not soon, as it's going to take me a while to eat all of these leftovers, but I will. read more

This is our go-to chinese Restaurant. We are a group of friends from Kings Point in Tamarac. Our waitress, Angel, is wonderful. The food is very good. A really good neThe biggest complaint is that the whole place needs a good cleaning! You would think that when the restaurant is closed for a week vacation that Jose (the owner) could bring in a crew to scrub the tables and chairs. A wipe down is not sufficient. I understand keeping costs down as this is an expensive business, but at some point, it is necessary to make sure the restaurant remains appealing to your clientele. Several months have passed and I am pleased to report that Jose (owner) has brought the dining room into the 21st century. All new tables, and chairs, and the booths were replaced. In fact, the entire restaurant was freshly painted. So nice now. I'm happy to say that Angel is still waiting tables. Thank you Jose. read more

I have been ordering out and dinning in at this Restaraunt for over 20 years now. the food has always been good. delivery has always been on time that I was given. There have been minor issues in delivery over the last 20+ years. Mostly something small forgotten. But I can count on 1 hand the number of issues I have had. When dinning in the service has always been good. The waitstaff is always available and attentive. I have tried other places but this is by far the best. Yes prices have gone up. Proportionately to the increase due to issues beyond our control. Tucked away in a quiet strip mall, this restaurant is a pleasant surprise. Polite service, quick to the table with the food and tasty dishes. The hot and sour soup is a little less sour and somewhat smoother than other places. This time, I forgot to specify the level of heat for the Kung Pau Chicken and it came out more tame than I like. But that was my fault for not ordering it spicier. The egg roll was crispy on the outside and eating temperature on the inside. The flavor was similar to other places but I do appreciate the crispy exterior. Too many places serve egg rolls with a soggy outside layer. Desert came with the combination dinner and they surprised me with no sugar added mocha chocolate chip ice cream. Way too many restaurants forget that Florida has a significant diabetic population. Tonight we had what I feel is some of the best Chinese food we have had. We only use Fortune Dragon, as Jose and his wife operate one of the best restaurants in Tamarac, and the food is consistently very good. I am glad they are open to serve their regular customers during this very unusual time, much appreciated. I hate giving bad reviews but this place deserves it. I spent over $60 worth of food just to be delivered trash. First of all, the customer service sucks and they love putting you on holds. I ordered Honey Garlic wings, BBQ wings, Shrimp w/ Lobster sauce, Special fried rice, 2 egg rolls and shrimp Lo Mein. I HAVE NEVER tasted Chinese food this bad The Honey Garlic Wings didn't even taste like honey and didn't have any type of garlic. I don't know what this Was suppose to be but it wasn't Honey Garlic wings and this has to be the most top ordered dish and you still mess it up, WOW. The BBQ wings were very dry and didn't really have any sauce. The shrimp with Lobster sauce had no flavor at all, it was so bland. We told them no pork in the special fried rice and they still added pork anyway and it was full of soy sauce. They put so much soy sauce that the rice was almost black. The Egg rolls were EXTREMELY SALTY like guys I can't even make this up, I ate half of the egg roll and it was so salty it gave me a headache and the inside was pink which was very weird to me. The Shrimp Lo Mein was the Only good dish we received. The delivery driver couldn't even find my address even when we were waving him down outside he still was looking confused even though our house number was clearly visible and it was daytime. This is a tough review. Several friends rave about this place, and I see excellent average online reviews, but I am having a very tough time with their menu. First of all, I will say I dined here about 4 years ago and found the service excellent but was disappointed with the General Tso's Chicken. They served dark meat; not white. I actually see that their other chicken dishes, like orange chicken, that I love at my favorite Chinese restaurants in both Florida & NYC, are prepared with dark meat as well. To that I say, "Yuck , yuck!" Oh, I always thought dark meat is cheaper but this place tries so hard on so many other levels that I just don't get it. I'd be willing to pay extra for white meat too. Don't get me wrong, it was an okay meal but with white meat it would be far superior like other places I love. The egg roll was good but something was a little off there. I see some reviews claim they detect a slight horseradish taste. Oh, I had that egg roll 5 years ago so who knows but I don't like horseradish so if that is an ingredient, even a mild one... The fried dumplings tasted very odd, not quite what we were accustomed to. After leaving, we realized we probably received the wrong order. I don't think they served us fried dumplings and we should have realized it & spoke up. The fried rice was okay but we felt it could have been fried more. The operative word is "It was okay" but nothing to rave about so I give them 3 stars. Quite frankly, I dine at restaurants I find to be 4 or 5 stars, at least with my dishes. Note, I dined there with my parents who did not care for it and said never again but they have both sadly since passed. I would try it again but am having a rough time with the menu. Would really like orange chicken with white meat but that does not seem to be an option. Maybe try the orange beef instead and tell them to fry the fried rice a tad more? Great average reviews online & from my friends and they do have great service so I might just try Fortune Dragon again when I am near them shopping. read more

We are new to the area, and found this on yelp. Called to place order for delivery. One hour and 15 minutes later the food comes. I ordered my go to Singapore noodles, and told them to make it extra spicy. Honestly , there was not even regular flavor to them. Absolutely no taste. I was so disappointed. My shrimps were super tiny salad shrimps. My husband had fried rice. He said it was edible , but nothing to brag on. Spent over 30 Dollars. The food was pretty great and the delivery was about 30 mins. I LOVED the fried rice - the beef was chopped in small chunks, plenty of bean sprouts (my fave and unexpected) and the egg looked like it was fried then chopped. It was awesome! The crab Rangoon had a nice flavor but too small for the price for 5 of them. The General Tso's chicken had great flavor and spice, too. I was surprised there wasn't a vegetable in there like broccoli or snow peas, but it was still good nonetheless. The side of white rice was small but sufficient. My only complaint is that the chicken came in a small paper white container instead of one to properly contain the sauce from the dish. Nothing spilled, but you could tell it was a bit more dry in order to not have a spill. Just use plastic. Don't be cheap lol read more

I love, love egg drop soup and always order it when I get Chinese. My soup had a very distinctive fish flavor to it, which was absolutely disgusting! It was almost like fish fry oil had been spilled in the soup or whatever container that was used to make the soup in was previously used to make fish and not rinsed out. I also got the beef lo mein, which is another favorite of mine and it was also simply awful. This place was so bad that I should have just called and demanded that I return the food and get my money back. You couldn't pay me to eat there again. read more

This is a good value proposition. The cost for 8 adults and one 9 year old, a plate each and 4 soft drinks ( tea is complimentary ), was $ 63.00. FILTHY We went to the restaurant on Friday night at 7:30. Most of the tables were filled with dirty dishes. We decided to eat there since the reviews were "that great." The food was the worst I have ever tried. The server was friendly but could not handle all the tables. She used the same platter to pick up dirty dishes and serve freshly cooked food. The rice was not "fried rice." It was some sort of brown colored rice. We we decided not to eat and to ask for the bill and leave.
