Where to begin. Im actually going to keep it simple. If you live in Rockland County and you like Chinese Food you absolutely MUST go to Fortune Garden. My friend who moved here a few years ago has been telling me about this place for a while saying how great it is. I did not doubt him but i had my go to Chinese place and really didnt see the need to branch out. One day i decided i just needed to give it a shot so me and my dad ordered the sesame Beef, the Peking Duck, House friend rice and roast pork Lo mein. Every single item was spectacular, the beef was simply amazing, bursting with flavor , really like nothing i have ever had from a Chinese joint. The fried rice and Lo mein were also stellar, they did not have that usual take out taste, they tasted fresh and more like the stuff you would get at a fancy Chinese place and the Peking Duck was also just delicious. I was so impressed and happy with everything, id give this place a 10 if i could. This place has one very small drawback if you want to even call it that. They don't deliver so your either picking it up or dining in. I really cant recommend this place enough, Sensational food, terrific pricing, Cant be beat. read more

Never been disappointed with Chinese food until now. Their chicken broccoli has no flavor what's so ever and their definition of fried rice/ Brown rice is not distinguished. Fortune Garden is my favorite restaurant. Their food is always fresh and delicious. Sesame chicken, Clams in Black Bean Sauce, Paper Wrapped Chicken, House Chow Fun, Baby Shrimp in Sizzling Rice Soup and their Pork Fried Rice are a few of my favorites that never disappoints. The staff is friendly and accomodating. My family gave me a Surprise 50th Birthday party there. We had the place for an afternoon. The staff made it special and enjoyed the guests. Thought it would be nice to support a local business during the pandemic, but boy were we wrong! They were not at all equipped to handle the volume of orders they received, and when I went to pick up my order, it was a disorganized disaster. They tried to over charge me, left out items from my order, and pour soy sauce over my "General Tso's Chicken" -- no General Tsos in sight! Worst Chinese food in town. Definitely the best Chinese food in Rockland. Usually order out on Friday night to avoid the crowd. Always 20 -15 min prep time (never fails). Sit down service is very similar to a Chinatown NYC experience without the cluttered/dinginess feeling. For example, you get the small tea cups and community shared tea pot, as well as fried wonton strips at the beginning. The beef and broccoli has a great, clean flavor, and isn't drenched in a sauce that overpowers. This can be said for many of the dishes as well. Growing up in Rockland County, Fortune Garden was always a sunday night staple. Steve, the owner is the best! Hands down, best sesame chicken anywhere..also love General Tso chicken, sauteed string beans, chicken and sizzling rice soup. A long standing restaurant in the county. Sat down and there with family prior to the pandemic. Had take-out during the state restrictions and as always the food was excellent! Last time there we had wonton soup, Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein. Support this place and local businesses! read more

Honestly they are very unprofessional if they don't know you they treat you like crap :; their food is undercooked , the waiters ask you for tips all the time like if I didn't like my service I am not leaving you tip what for , they are very racist , like all the other Asian , Filipinos around the area . They don't even deserve that one star! I wouldn't return here ever , also they reheat the food sometimes isn't even fresh ' so disgusting , I gave this place enough chances . I couldnt wait to give this review just minutes after having some of (some- because I would not eat half of this garbage!) of the absolute worst Chinese food ever! My son and I came here based on reputation and after such disappointment we agree that the crowd eating there must have a severe "taste disorder"! We got General Tso`s dinner combos- I mean come on Generals is the main staple of all Chinese Restaurants and this drek was absolutely horrid from first look and worse from first bite. There was NO sauce- NO SPICE- NO KICK and the usual redness if this dish was not even there- there was no spice and worse yet no taste and I had my first ever piece of grizzled chicken in a Chinese Restaurant! We paid extra for white meat and should have paid extra to not take the food and give it back and save us the disgust! WTF would the dark meat have been like? This "white meat" didnt even look or taste like chicken- it was rubbery and bouncy-except for the grizzle piece! A few pieces looked and felt like cooked mushrooms or something? The chicken had NO taste and even less Chinese because it had no sauce and they actually put in green peppers that I associate with maybe a cheese steak but NOT Chinese. The pork fried rice again bland and disgusting but the topper was the hot and sour dishwater soup- what a bunch of trash circling in what tasted as foul a soup as I ever had! Ok even the egg rolls? bland crap! A Chinese place that cant do egg rolls with taste? How the hell can you EFF up so much of a complete order? Everything was disgusting- EVERY piece- every drop of soup filthy dishwater! I took a sip out of the spoon and my son tried and we both trashed full containers of "soup" right to the garbage-talk about foul tasting? The GLOP circling around the soup as unappetizing looking a mix as you would expect to find in a soup prison or prison kitchen and it was barely warm. Seriously this place deserves a negative number and the 0 is high! My son laid out $30 bucks for this garbage and man what a horror show that for first time ever we couldnt even get through and just shut down in order to stop the onslaught of our horrible taste in our mouths! The feeling after this is as bad as the experience trying to eat it and am paying for it all over again and you dont need or want the details but like the food when we saw it- its not pretty. We should have taken all the remaining trash of this meal and brought it back or just dump it in their doorway- thats how angry we were being served such crap. You deserve this review! Ate here last night for the first time. Very happy with the results. Although it was a packed Saturday night, the service was fine and friendly. The fried noodles & the duck sauce were mediocre, but every item that followed was excellent. We had an idea to find a great experience at this establishment, thinking on how long this place has been open, and being regarded as one of the best Chinese restaurants in Rockland County. However, the tables were turned, and actually had the worst experience ever,,, first and foremost, they took the liberty on serving to parties of guests before us, and about an hour later when we did receive our dishes, my friends dish came out overly salty, and nothing came close to what I ordered, it was entirely incorrect. Food is authentic, and management is great, the employees even know Tagalog which is the language of the Philippines so that's a plus too. There orange beef is to die for and there service is fast. Simply aweful! I don't remember the last time I left 3/4 of my food on the table and did not even bother to take any leftovers home. My fried rice was overdone dry and chewy. My noodles were dry and beyond chewy. Chicken pieces tasted like leftovers and stale. Service was extremely lackluster. I had to ask after waiting a long time for water and soy sauce. My wife & I went there for lunch today for the first time. She got the pork & garlic sauce, and I got something I haven't seen in a long time, twice-cooked pork. The hot and sour soup was OK, but the pork and pork-fried rice were all very good. The bill was only $17 and change, which we thought was very inexpensive. All the food seemed to be freshly prepared, and was nice and hot. All in all, it was an excellent dining experience, and we'll be happy to return. read more

We love Fortune Garden. The food is great! I suggest the Fortune Garden Sesame Chicken. We like white meat. Also, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, Beef Chow Fun, Chicken Mai Fun and their Egg Foo Young is very good too. Service is outstanding. All wait staff are friendly and fast. Anything you want or need, just ask and they will find ways to help you anyway they can. Steve, the owner and Hazel, co-owner, could not be nicer folks. I have been coming to Fortune Garden since it opened twenty some odd years ago. That in itself says something about a restaurant anywhere and Rockland County especially. I used to drive home an hour away, but picked up Fortune Garden first because they were the best in Rockland OR Orange County! And, I had to eat a fried dumpling or two on the way.
