Well, this was a huge waste of $70, The worst food ever. Chow fun was so broken up it was like someone had chewed it for me. Sesame Chicken was tuff and had a foul taste. Cold noodles I'm saving to use as Moter to re point some bricks I need to fix. I always say If the fried rice is Yellow it's going to be bad food. Guess what? Yellow rice!!! Shrimp toast was ok till I hit something in it like a small round ball of hardness that I spit out. We got two other dishes, but no one was willing to try them. Raised their prices significantly for food thats mediocre at best. $38 worth of take out only gets you a small white rice. $2.40 to make it a large and then they forget my mushu pancakes and sauce. Like doing a time-warp back to the 70's and 80's with the kodakrome faded pictures of general tso's chicken hanging above the counter, a handful of chairs to sit and wolf down duck-sauce laced fried rice... This place is not going to impress you on looks alone. That said, this is far and above the best Chinese in Suffern. You won't find any fusion here.... No Japanese or Thai.... Just good solid Americanized Chinese food.... And the best of any place in a 10 mile radius. The dumplings are superb and everything is by flavorful. The house special lomein and fried rice is also fantastic. Fresh long beans, great garlic sauce.... I will gladly put the Chinese here as better tasting than anything in the area. This is the WORST food I have ever eaten, Chinese or otherwise. Nothing had any taste, the boneless spareribs were fatty and overcooked, the egg rolls seemed frozen, the hot and sour soup was greasy and tasteless, the "fried" rice did not seem fried, the main dishes were mostly overcooked vegetables, and so forth - you get the idea. Maybe they save the good shrimp & broccoli for the folks who order dinner portions (like I did last time). I have ordered from #1 Chinese for delivery sooooo many times, for years. They are very friendly and delivery is fast as well as pick up. The prices are great and they sometimes through in a free white rice with big orders. I usually get the boneless spare ribs and pork fried rice combo, you could feed 3 people its great. Rice is so good! The place won't impress you on looks alone, they could use some updating. I ordered shrimp with garlic sauce and they included celery as one of the veggies. Adding celery to this dish is kind of rare but I really enjoyed the crunchiness. The garlic sauce was flavorful and spicy with little bits of pepper flakes. The sauce also included broccoli, carrots and water chestnuts in case you were curious. The general tso's chicken was pretty good. The pieces of chicken were juuust right, not too big but not too small. The best part of the meal was probably the chow fun. Yum. The flat rice noodles were cooked perfectly and even though the color was a little pale, the flavor wasn't. It tasted smoky with just the right amount of salt. Too bad I live so far from here but I will definitely visit again on my way home from woodbury! The one bad thing about this place is that it's a takeout place so the seating isn't very inviting but there are tables available if you are hungry and have to eat right away. read more
