If you're looking for personalized service from knowledgeable shoe experts, this is where you need to be. This isn't a browse-for-yourself type of shoe store as you wander up and down the shoe wall trying on every shoe that looks pretty. Nope! This is much more than that and you won't regret the service you receive. I've heard good things about Forward Motion Sports. I remember their name because they donated to my children's elementary school many years ago. This is my first time coming in. The store is clean and the shoes and clothes are set up nicely and aesthetically pleasing. I was greeted warmly by the staff. They were all friendly and eager to help. I heard about them checking your gait and helping you figure out what kind of shoe you need. That's exactly what Mark did. I let him know what I was looking for in a shoe, and he asked me questions such as what brands I like, or if I heard of x brand. Then he asked me to take my shoes off and walk up and down an aisle to see how my feet move as I walked. His assessment was correct. My arches tend to collapse. He measured my foot and confirmed if he got the shoe size correct. Yep! Then he brought out a few different shoes for me to try out. He explained each shoe and how much support they had. They were all different brands with different cushioning, but all providing the support my arches needed. He laced the shoes (love that!) and handed me a pair to try on. Then he asked me to walk up and down the aisle and how I liked them. Then he asked me to tap my heel so he can check the size. He did this for every shoe I tried on. I eventually found the shoes that worked for me. He took both shoes, placed them nicely in the box, and brought them to the cashier. He stood there patiently as I the cashier rang up my transaction then Mark thanked me in the end. What a good feeling to receive such amazing service. It was a very different experience from shopping at Nordstrom or from shopping at Big 5. Mark really listened to my needs and what I was looking for. I didn't feel pressured to buy the most expensive shoe or to buy the latest IT shoe or multiple shoes. Overall it was a terrific experience! I would definitely come back. I bought a pair of $200 sneakers in Feb to help with my Plantar Fascitis...They were so helpful measuring my foot, watching me walk and trying on 5-6 different sneakers before recommending one...Turned out great! No more Plantar...Epilogue...3 months later I developed a tear at the top of sneaker, went back and Marty, different helper there, swapped them for new pair no charge. Instead, place your trust in the staff here to guide you through. 1. First, they measure your feet and ask you to walk and run along the store to study your gait. Everybody walks and runs a bit differently. 2. They'll bring out a few shoe styles for you to try based on their observations (high arch, flat footed, pronation, etc.). You then walk and run with the shoes and pick the ones you like. 3. The sales guy was able to help 2-3 people at once and certainly knows his stuff. I think his name was Wayne and he runs/trains marathons. We left the store with a nice brand new pair of NB 860's and two pairs of Feetures synthetic running socks. read more

This store doesn't have everything, but they did have more than enough choices. We went in looking for Nike track spikes. The sales staff was helpful and friendly. I'm not talking about just the guy that helped us, but everyone working there seemed to be as helpful as could be. We arrived 15 minutes before closing. They were still busy; yet there was no pressure for us to hurry up or anything like that. It seemed like they would have kept the doors open until every customer was served. Paige was the one who reached out to me when I first walked into the store. She is very knowledgeable and she first measured both of my feet. I thought I was a 101/2 but it turns out my shoes were cramping my toes and the correct size I needed was 11. My podiatrist wears Hoka and that was the brand I selected. She allowed me to walk around the store a few times and my feet never felt better. I have Achilles tendinitis in my right heel and I felt to pain or irritation. I have been buying my running, walking and gym shoes from Roberta for over a decade. Their product line cannot be touched by any other sporting goods conglomerate out there. My favorite is the Mizuno line but Roberta has opened my eyes to 361, ON and Hoka. Let's get to the point, recently moved from NY(former Roadrunner). Wanted to connect with other runners and needed some new shoes. This overpriced, snobby place was recommended to me by some random runner in Las Lomas HS track. If you want to save money and get a good service stick with the websites (i.e. Nike, Adidas, Brooks etc). You can find better deals and better return policy if you are a member(Nike 60 day return- Used). You can obviously find the latest on the website as well (Nike/Adidas has free shipping I know if you sign up). Do not go there as I tried returning a pair I wore for one lap and they wouldn't take it back. I give it a one star because it will not allow me to post without at least one star. read more

Great place to get athletic/running shoes. Mohammed was so helpful, knowledgeable, and patient while helping me select a pair of shoes for walking. Two weeks prior I had purchased a pair of shoes (not at forward motion) at the recommendation of my doctor...they were terrible and exacerbated chronic knee and ankle problems and put me back at a 8/10 pain level. Mohammed listened as I explained my history, he evaluated my gait, and provided me with many different options to try on. With his knowledge and guidance I settled on a pair and have been able to resume my daily walks. My pain level has reduced down to my typical level (3/10). Didn't realize 2 pause of shoes is common practice. The Brooks are less expensive and what he says makes sense. Rhonda chimes in to help answer questions on training and fueling. My family signed up for a virtual endurance race where you try to complete 100 miles in the month of June as quickly as you can. After our first few days of trying to do more miles than normal, my daughter and I developed bad blisters on our feet. A friend recommended getting fitted for shoes, so we headed to Forward motion to get the whole family fitted. The guy who helped us was great, let us try on lots of shoes, educated us on socks and blisters (cotton socks are really bad if you're walking/running in them for long periods), and made sure we had the right gear for our quest. The wider, properly fitted shoes and runners socks made all the difference in the world, and I'll be finishing my 100 miles tomorrow morning! Plan is to finish downtown and walk past Forward Motion as a salute to their help. There's no way I would have been able to finish this challenge without the help and advice I got from these guys!
