Today, we were looking for shoes that my son could wear to a wedding, but we didn't want it to be too fancy. When we arrive to the front of the store, they had a clearance then with lots of shoes and super great prices unfortunately, we didn't have the size that my son needed. So then we walked into the store looking for a pair of dark shoes. We wanted it to be comfortable so that he could just wear it on a normal day but not look too casual. We walked into the store and found several pairs of shoes that he liked. Then the great thing about being in the store is that you can try shoes on I like the look of wood shoe so we asked my son to try it on twice, but he still didn't like it. He was able to choose the pair of shoes that he was in love with and I'm glad that he is going to be comfortable and that we know exactly which size we needed. Alana was super friendly, patient, and so very helpful to help my child find the shoes that he needed, she also took the initiative to show us other options of shoes that we didn't know he would love, too. Purchased multiple shoes from this store over the years. On the Latest transaction we bought a defective shoe. We brought it in, the lady sales associate replaced it with the same shoe and said if it happens again bring it back and we'll get you a different style for free. It happened again and the owner man refused to replace the shoe and said we have to pay full price. He said the previous lady "didn't know what she was talking about." Never shopping here again. **BUYER BEWARE** My family and I went to this Stride Rite in Danville hoping to get some guidance and recommendation on a toddler shoe that would have more robust toe caps that wouldn't wear down easily. I brought my toddler's Stride Rite shoes that had holes in them after only a few weeks to show them what I was hoping to avoid. They had my toddler try on 3 pairs of shoes - all apparently with robust toe caps (*none were the Keens), including the Skechers with Tuff Tech toe caps. They seemed like a good fit on my toddler so we went with those. They said, "We'll see you in 4 months". These wore out in 2 days!! (see pictures). I called the store and the manager said to come in to see the shoe (which btw looked just like the last Stride Rite shoes I showed him the first time - holes in toe caps). Once I made the 20 min drive in, the manager said they can't refund/replace/give credit (absolutely nothing at all) and to speak directly to the Skechers company. So this Stride Rite store recommends these Skechers shoes specifically for having robust toe caps, but in actuality has no idea whether these are "robust" and said if the shoes are falsely advertised to take it up directly with the manufacturer (so somehow the store tries to absolve itself of taking any responsibility for the recommendation and the fact that they carry this shoe as a product in their store). The kicker is that he then proceeded to try to sell me on other "more robust" shoes (*Keens) saying this is the only brand that would last longer - the other brands would wear through quickly...or the other option he suggested was to purchase very cheap shoes as my toddler would just run through these anyway. Why weren't these his recommendations the FIRST time we went to the store?? Did it take 2 pairs of shoes to have holes in the same spots to tell me what he really thought? Seems like he wanted to take my $$ for shoes he knew would wear down almost instantly and hide behind the Skechers policy so he wouldn't have to refund me or offer credit. Good quality shoes are important for growing feet. Stride rite have always had shoes designed for growing feet. When our children were little we bought them stride rite shoes. Now we are buying them for our grandchildren. When was the last time you had your feet measured. The owner measured our granddaughter's feet so we got the right sized shoes The owner was personable and helpful. The store had a good selection. There were also a nice selection of shoes on sale. We got there at about 11am when they opened on a Sunday. There are signs that say 4 people in the store at a time and wear clean socks. We were the only ones at the time. We were greeted by the gentleman. He sized my son's foot for his shoe size and asked us what we were looking for. Our kid likes riding on a scooter and uses his shoe for the brake, so we needed a good rubber sole in the toe area. He suggested a few good options. We went for the most padding in the Keen brand. My son tried them on and liked them, so he walked out of the store with them. Another family came in while we were finishing our transaction, so it was perfect timing. There are a lot of good show options. He offered my kids a lollipop, which was a nice gesture. We hope these shoes last long, but will definitely come back when he needs new ones. read more

Customer Service was definitely sub par! I drove all the way from Livermore to return a pair of shoes I purchased online. When I walked in, no one was in the front of the store (no biggie) and sounded like the person was in the back on the phone. I waited a short minute until he came out, and I told him I had a return. He asked if I purchased online, to which I replied yes and he told me that I needed to send them back because he was a privately held store (no problem) and then turned around and proceeded to continue his call and go to the back. I could have still used his help as I was trying to compare some sizes for my daughter as she is a new walker and I wanted to see the shoe sizes so I could exchange the ones I bought for a proper size. After I said loudly (so he could hear me in the back), that I could still use a little help, he came back out (still on the phone for something business related just so I'm being fair) and I asked him to see a few different sizes to compare. He then told me to trace my daughter's foot and bring it back. He then reluctantly brought out one pair of shoes for me to look at, but at that point, I knew he was not going to be very helpful! I live in Livermore so I'm not out in Danville often, to go trace her foot and come back and secondly, if I'm going to request another size from my online purchase, tracing her foot does no good. (I even brought a pair of her shoes she wears now to compare since I didn't have her with me). Anyway, the woman on the phone asked if he would like to call her back and he told her he would not because he needed to take care of whatever he needed at that moment and walked in the back again. WTH!?!? Forget that there was a customer in your store asking for help. I'm sorry for bothering you at your place of business as a potential paying customer, sir but I will definitely not be coming back to this location again after that poor display of customer service!!! I've been coming here for 10 years for all 3 of my kids. Their shoes are more expensive than other places but not a problem as I love supporting small local businesses. Last weekend I bought a pair of UGGs for my 7 years old at a price higher than UGG official store. In less than a week, probably 3-4 wears, the front of one boot ripped. The store said she likely scraped it while riding a bike and there is nothing they can do about it and asked me to go through UGG warranty (that was after 20 mins wait at the store). I later learned from my daughter that she did ride scooter with the boots but that was the weekend we bought the shoes so that is absolutely not the reason they are now ripped. It's very frustrating that we have been supporting local business all these years but in situations like this they are not supporting their customers. I'm pretty sure big box stores would exchange these with no questions asked as it's extremely unusual to have damage like this in such a short time. Now I have to pay $30 to ship the boots back to UGG and wait for weeks to hear back. They did help me reprint my lost receipt though... Buying new shoes for our kids is one of my least favorite responsibilities as a parent. It's expensive, time consuming, and much more frequent than I'd like. Our little monsters go through shoes in what seems like record time, destroying them faster than they outgrow them. They use them to brake their bikes, kick at rocks, and God knows what else! Fortunately for us, there is Stride Rite. Specifically the store off Sycamore exit in Danville, owned and operated by the most knowledgeable and patient proprietors in the East Bay. That's where we found ourselves earlier this afternoon. Our girls got their feet measured (both length and width) and shown several choices of footwear. Our helper was the former store owner, and she was extremely knowledgeable and patient. She said things like: "Look how she's pronating?" and "Let me find something with more arch support," which I didn't fully comprehend but my wife seemed to highly approve of. After trying on dozens of shoes, we finally found shoes that were both cute/cool and sensible. We settled up (the second pair was 40% off, yay!), got our frequent shopper card stamped, and headed out. On the drive back home, I felt little feet kicking the back of my seat. If you read all the yelp and Google reviews, it is consistently the same. 1. Poor customer service, 2. Lady in the shop is rude. I think if you are really serious about this business this needs to be improved. Unfortunately my experience is as not good and resonate the same as others. Infact what I noticed is this shop entertains white people properly vs others. Today I noticed that time and age such people and store exists who for lack of better terms gave me a feel of what racism is here today. I am a big Stride Rite fan. My toddler has chunky feet and Stride Rite shoes are the only comfortable wide shoes I purchase. I typically purchase his shoes online but now that I found a store front I will be going there instead. This store is not affiliated with the online store so you cannot do online returns here. It's located in a small shopping center with plenty of parking. We came on a Saturday afternoon and they were very busy. They measured my daughter and said she was a size larger than she is, brought out the larger size which was of course too big then bumped me to help another customer. I've purchased all of my child's shoes here so far and was planning to buy all of them here. I went in to buy new shoes and there were about 8 people in the store, plus the employee, and not a single person was wearing a mask. I am aware that Danville is full of entitled people who think masks take away their "freedoms", but when you run a store that caters mostly to young children who aren't eligible for a vaccine, you should make an effort to protect them. I love stride shoes. Bought them from Nordstrom all the time. Came in to this store so excited because it's located right next to my girls' school (2 year old and 4 year old). Unfortunately, the store owner was very rude and I'm afraid I will not be coming back to this store again. I came in to return a pair of toddler boots-unworn and just purchased last week, size was too big. He looked at it, stated it was his competitors? and he would lose money by returning it? I wouldn't patronize this store if you are a two mom or two dad household- there is clear discrimination happening. The gentleman working here had zero interest in helping us, but was eager to help the grandparents shopping and the other mom and dad with their daughter. He finally (begrudgingly) asked, "you need a sizing?" Yes, just like we watched him do twenty minutes earlier for other shoppers. Wonderful hidden gem! I found this on Yelp and wanted someone to measure kids' feet to ensure proper fit. I wasn't sure based on reviewsbut like to support small merchants. The gentlemen who helped us was Amazing, very nice, polite and helpful. He had a mask on and limited number of shippers. Not sure why there are ANY negative reviews. After measuring feet he showed us shoes in that range then said oh there is a pair 40% off on the rack if you like this type. Very nice because I would have never known. he gave kids sugar free lollipops and gave me a shoe punch card. I wish I would have found this store years ago. We had a good experience. Stride Rite in the mall closed, Clarks were out of everything and mismeasured my kid, and Nordstrom is phasing out their kid shoes. Off we went to Danville. The reviews are awful. I went in with low expectations. They don't have a lot of selection but it's enough. The guy guessed my kid's age, knew what she needed and we found her shoe in under five minutes. And she got a sticker for being good. 100 bucks later for two pairs, one for my house and one for the nanny's house, we were off to Chow for the slowest lunch I've ever had. The only drawback I can see is it could be slow if more customers are in the store. A staff member came in, she walked by everybody to the back, the guy yelled for her to come to the front but she didn't appear while I was there. So I get from the reviews that quality of service is really dependent on who you get. read more

Literally don't waste your time here. Came in wanting to exchange a gift that was sent to us. You know how stores always accommodate online purchase and can order things for you in case they don't have in store, yeah not here. Apparently they're privately owned and not directly affiliated with the stride rite e-commerce operation. If I was stride rite corporate I would be so unhappy about the way this store is conducting their business. They really should change their store name because it's misleading. There's a "sign in sheet" and only 4 people allowed at a time, meanwhile the guy isn't wearing a mask lol so really the 4 at a time is because he can't service more people at once, not a covid thing. The stores are independent so if you dont come into the store which is 1 hour away because they have closed all over, within 30 days no exchange , no refund? and not to mention, its each store discretion to do an exchange, they said they dont have to. what store dont offer an exchange? I'd give a zero if I could. We went in looking to get a pairs of shoes each for our 3 kids. The 2 clerks stood around talking while 3 families (including us) were in the store. No one greeted us or acknowledged us. They finally started helping the other two families but then things went worse from there. While we were looking in the store, one of the clerks bumped into my five year old while reaching over him to get something and didn't say "excuse me" or anything. We then asked for the measuring device ourselves and the female clerk gave us attitude but gave it us...instead of offering to measure our kids.... The male clerk finally came over and offered to measure them but then tried to talk the five year old out of what he picked because its too 'loud' and brought the wrong shoe for the 8 year old. No biggie but when my 8 year old tried to hand him the shoe he actually wanted, the clerk RIPPED the shoe out of his hand and said we don't carry that in your size. Left immediately and they didn't even apologize. This is just Yelp so not really expecting anything to happen. That said. Wolverine Corporate (owner of Stride Rite) is calling me back so we'll see how that goes. Never coming back, won't take candy from them during the Halloween event in the complex, etc. Dont bring your kids here. We've been buying our kids shoes from this store for years and just visited as a family. We arrived at 4:45 (store closes at 5) and all walked in masked. The salesperson came out from the back unmasked and walked up to our kids to measure their feet. I politely asked him if he could put on a mask when he measured our kids and he responded by saying "well you're invading my space because we're about to close but yes I'll put on a mask." Meanwhile the store has signs indicating only 4 customers are allowed in at one time (not enforced) and that you must "sign in" (bizarre). We reluctantly purchased shoes for our kids (before the 5pm closing time of course) to avoid causing a scene in front of them and left, but I'll never shop here again. read more
