First time here and it was better than what I read on previous reviews. The fries were good and hot, milk shake was ok not great. I think they use soft serve ice cream and mix in chocolate syrup. This is the reason for the 3 . Service was good, she thanked me and fries came out hot!! read more

I cannot believe an employee of a restaurant that is using their hands to make food would think it is ok to have their phone on the same work station as the food that is being made to order. I will absolutely not return to Fosters Freeze in Reedley. Germs are all over our phones and to see a cook using their phone while making someone's food is totally gross. Food is meh. I ordered a hamburger with no cheese and I told them specifically no cheese twice and I get my burger and there is cheese on it. I show it to them and they take it back and bring me back another one. I start eating the burger and I notice a slight taste of cheese. I keep eating it, but then I lift up the bun and it's the same burger they just scraped the cheese off. Never coming here again. read more

Been going here for the past 17 years and ever since the recent new owners bought this place, the quality has gone down a lot. You could taste the difference in quality and it shows that they don't care about it. They used the cheapest ingredients, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried using cheaper meat. As a LOCAL who was born and raised in Reedley I've been coming here for over 15 years, idk what is happening to this place. First of all the chicken sandwich use to be my favorite now the chicken patty looks like something you can grab from damn Walmart and fry it. It's embarrassing! Second of all clean the damn patio area! Clean it! And lastly stop closing at 8:30pm if online it says you close at 9pm, and open at the time your door says! This place has been in Reedley since 1962. The building and kitchen have seen some upgrades since then. I remember when the walls where white and had tin signs on them. I even remember the walk up windows. In the 90's they painted the walls and put up some ugly wallpaper. I think they upgraded their tables and chairs at that time. The ceiling collapsed, during one of the heavy rain storms before the most recent drought. It might have been at that time they painted the dining room its current color. I think it looks good. They painted the kitchen black, it looked terrible and no matter how hard the guys behind the counter kept it clean, it looked filthy. The kitchen color didn't stay black for long. The food has been consistently good, some folks even believe that it is the best place for a burger and fries in town. They typically use quality ingredients, however they also try to keep prices low, I think that is why it seems as if their burger patties are thinner than most other fast food restaurants in town. Then again the burger patties at other Fosters look just as thin... Their staff can be warm and friendly, however recently (fall/winter 2018, Spring 2019) the night crew was doing a HUGE FAST FOOD NO NO. I work right across the street from Fosters. When it started getting dark they would not turn the lights on to the signs or the parking lot. Then the night crew would sit over in the back corner. Out of customer's sight. Foster Freeze closes at 9pm, but it looked closed at 5pm during the winter because of this. People all over town where like, "Is it open? Why are the lights off? Is it open?" I know Fosters lost money because of that. Recently they replaced the entire night shift and the parking lot has been packed at night. They could work on some basic cleanliness. I understand they have to make do with what they got, but they need to make what they got look the best it can within reason. I know this is a long review, but it is a place I have fond memories of, and if I could, would probably be eating at more often. Yes the building is old, yes there was some problems with the staff, yes it does seem like you are getting skimped on the food. However the franchise owner does care for the building, has corrected the problem with the staff, and tries to sell quality items at an affordable price. Don't forget to order your fries extra crispy! The rest is up to you. read more

Been in this area for a month and decided to pop in here and get a chocolate dipped ice cream, the manager Mari runs this place with an iron fist and reminds me of a person that can laugh without smiling, overall I enjoyed my visit here will definitely be back because of her and I got to see her smile which I never thought possible :) Maybe even ask for an application to work for her, I'd enjoy someone yelling at me since I don't live with mom anymore :) read more

First off this place smells like an abandoned porta potty, comparable to the stuff that collects at the bottom of an outdoor dumpster. Aside from that, I stood in line for about 3 minutes until my gf noticed the lady that was cooking had no gloves, was handling raw meat and putting burgers together, all without washing her hands. I stopped on Saturday to pick up three old fashions for my family for lunch. The cashiers was super friendly and helpful. After placing my order I stepped aside to wait and the place was crawling with flies. I was standing there trying to protect my drinks and shooing flies the whole time. Not one or two but dozens. My order came up quickly as I moved to get my order my shoes were stuck to the ground because the floor was gross. I couldn't even eat the food all I could picture was flies crawling all over the food as they made it. read more

I really want to like this place, as my experiences with other FF locations has been good. But, like other postings, the "closing early" issue is just too consistent. Open until 9 should not mean that you stop serving people 30-45 minutes before that. You're simply losing customers doing that. read more

The first thing i noticed as soon as I enter this establishment is the smell. It smelled like a old gross bathroom. So we automatically decided to eat outside,I noticed a sign on the soda machine that said "please one soda per person no sharing". That rubbed me the wrong way. I got chicken strips and fries. The strips were over cooked and the fries were the worst Fosters Freeze fries I've ever had. I then asked for ketchup and WHAT THE HELL WAS ON MY KETCHUP? Some honey like substance which was hard and weird and they were all suck together. I also got a grilled cheese sandwich which was the best out of all that I ordered. I don't recommend this place at all. I haven't had dessert yet but can you really really mess up ice cream? We shall see... read more

i love fosters freeze or east coast tasty freeze....and have eaten at this store many times....lastest owners, leaving tradition behind. food still good and fried burritos fantastic...but try not to watch staff as they clean, cook, take money, etc all at the same time. ruins the appetite. sweeping the area, then running back to make a cone for someone, taking money then serving up shake, handing bathroom key to patron then assembling burgers, all witnessed within 3 minutes or so...one staff member did pause to use antibacterial scrub for a moment...then picked up broom before returning to cooking. did not even see a sink near the counter area....there has to be one right? oh well....did i mention the fried burritos are awesome? so preoccupied with conditions forgot to mention dont sit in the broken fiberglass seat near the door with caution tape wrapped around it.... the sanger fosters is much cleaner, food better and fosters friendly kind of staff. read more

Older lady who is supposedly the manager is disrespectful to the workers in front of customers made me want to leave an not wait for my food. Screaming at people is not the right way especially if their kids an family's in their. She makes you feel rushed and os also very disrespectful to customers too. read more

People write negative things usually because they are unhappy in general... have you seen how busy it often is here?!! That says something about this place and the people that frequently come here dont need to write on Yelp because they live here and are happy with the food and service. We travel a lot, and we have been around the area only for a couple of months, but if you are going to choose to eat at a 'fast food' joint, this place is good. The fish sandwiches are great, and big! Chicken sandwiches are yummy too! Abd the burgers are BIG! The ice cream, hey, it's a Fosters - it's delicious! Regarding the person who was put off by the sign on the soda machine - yeah, it has that, but if you want to share, just order small drinks then... you get free refills. Last time I came there was a school here and everyone appeared very happy and satisfied. Tonight there were several people eating and several people in line ordering food after 8:30 p.m. - again - that speaks for itself. :-) Even our daughters dog loved his cheeseburger and ice cream cone! RESTROOM WAS "OUT OF ORDER" and may I add the old lady running the place is very unfriendly and a bully to employees and customers. I'm giving this place 2 stars because I do, actually, like the food here. I'm scoring low because of the awful management they have. They have to many rules as to how I should go about eating my food. Their "no sharing" policy is ridiculous. Also, they have a permanent sign up stating their bathrooms are out of order, as if they don't plan on fixing them. Every time I go in there they are rudely talking down to staff, which make it awkward for the poor person taking my order (who looks like they want to end their lives) and myself. New owners seem a bit fascist with the install of an ugly steel cage around the outside eating area and their "no sharing drinks" sign on the soda fountain. Just a bit a-holish. Soda syrup isn't that expensive. Won't be going back to support jerks. Would go to Selma's or Dinuba's instead. read more
