Two stars are based on the food alone. Much better off at the sandwich shop a few doors down. Upon walking in Shawn the owner ignored us even though it was an empty restaurant. He waited for the server to greet us. Maria was our server and was actually kind and gracious! The ambiance it's self was "small town" but I will say the first impression of not being greeted definitely put a damper on the meal itself

Biscuits and gravy

My biscuits and gravy were delicious. Hubby said his steak was a little under seasoned but we will be back to try other yummy food

7/1/23 Happy July! Getting breakfast for tomorrow! Egg white Breakfast burrito with ham, potatoes, cheese and jalapeños on it ordered and the worker was very kind and said the Belgium waffle is popular. Ordered also, with sugar free syrup. The worker said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I went in to get it. The restaurant is nice. Low key, calm environment! Paid for the order with well wishes! 7/2/23 Happy Sunday everyone! Order split. My half of the breakfast burrito was really delicious! Fresh & tasty! Loved the jalapeños included like asked! The sauce included too added a little more, great spice! My half of the waffle was great! Tasty! Even better with their sugar free syrup! I'm sure mother will feel the same when she gets up to have hers! They did the order exactly how it was asked and were kind! Appreciated! Good service and great breakfast! Highly recommended!

I stopped in here after a morning of shopping in historic downtown Reedley. The day was bright, beautiful and sunny and Mainstreet is taking full advantage of our California weather as they have outdoor seating. Now Feb '22, they are back to indoor dining. Everything is well done, fresh homemade American style. Be sure to ask about the soup of the day. Today was vegetable beef. Yum. A delightful cup chock full of potatoes, tomato base, green beans and beef. Delish. I ordered the German sausage meal with fried Verenike. It is awesome. Little puffy noodle pillows stuffed with seasoned hoop cheese, first boiled, and you can also then have them fried to slightly crispy texture. Then they are slathered with a white sauce. So yummy. You can also order a la carte. Don't miss the homemade pie and cakes. Always the cafe has what's in season such as a berry pie in addition to other baked good. They are displayed on a full rotating glass case for full temptation!

My wife works in Reedley and I was in the area for my job. We decided to have a lunch date at Mainstreet Cafe. This place reminds me of a postcard small town restaurant. The staff were kind and the food was fresh. As you can see in my pictures, the club sandwich was more than enough. I took have of it home in a to-go box. The fries are delicious and taste homemade. I also ordered a side of potato salad. Bring from the south originally, it's my thing. It was good but had a little too much relish in it for my liking. We sat outside and our waitress opened an umbrella for us to be shielded from the sun. We'd totally eat here again! Side note: we were going to eat inside, but they had a ceiling fan beside a light fixture. This created a strobe light effect and that triggers migraines for me. I'd suggest they fix that. But moving outside was easy and we would still come back!

I ordered breakfast to be picked up this morning. The waffle we ordered was burnt! Yes, burnt! This should have been thrown in the trash!!! The chef thought it was alright to give burnt food to a customer!?! So disgusting and disappointing. We tried to eat it but it tasted burnt and bad. No good chef serves burnt food! I ordered online so I am not sure how to get a refund. I surely regret giving a 20% tip! We hadn't eaten there in a while, and it will be a long time before we do again.

Love this place. My favorite is the strawberry waffle. Comes with strawberry slices in strawberry syrup and homemade whipped cream.

Always leave satisfied. Pie is delicious. Prices are the same as any other restaurant now. I've never had a bad experience here.

The Bear Club - House-made Ice Cream Meyer Lemon w/ candied lemon zest! This is my Favorite!

Chef Jon Koobation took over the restaurant as Head Chef in 1985! Juan Reyes (Chef & Manager) currently is running the Bear Club and it hasn't missed a beat. After COVID slowed the restaurant down it is back with most of the same menu that Jon Koobation created. I used to frequent this establishment for years when Jon had it and it was frequented by many of the fruit packers, farmers and locals in the area but there are customers from Madera to Visalia and Dinuba. This is one of the last Icons in the area. It has a good vibe with low lighting and white linen tablecloths. Very clean and nice ambiance! We came in for lunch today. The appetizers are always so good. I always order Dungeness Crab Cakes that are served over Spicy Slaw, Remoulade Sauce and avocado. The slaw is what makes it and you have to eat them together. And then the Fried Zucchini Sticks that come with Apricot-Mustard Sauce. The way they make their sauces and house-made dressing are flavorful. The Crispy Calamari Fries with Zesty Heirloom Tomato Jam is good too. I ordered a salad that came with my entree with House-made Raspberry Vinaigrette & Dry Bleu. Try their Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing that I order every time!! Server asked if I wanted fresh ground pepper- that's a +! For the entrees we ordered the 2 specials for the day, 2- Shaved Prime Rib Dip that was a perfect medium-rare tender and juicy. Pan-Seared Salmon over cream corn sauce. Also recommend Grandma Koobation's Recipe Shish Kebab! Lamb Loin Charbroiled to your temperature. On the Dinner menu is Chicken George! Grilled Chicken Breast, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, lemon beurre blanc. It is Jon's special chicken recipe first put on the menu in 1973! It has been tried to be copied by other restaurants so this is a must try here! And leave room for the House-made ice cream! The flavors are Vanilla Frangelico w/ butterfingers, Chocolate Kahlua w/ heath bar, Meyer lemon w/ candied lemon zest (My favorite!!), And Pistachio w/ candied pistachios chunks!! Save room for dessert!! Come support this Valley restaurant! The Servers are friendly and front hostess are wearing white shirts and black pants. Everything is still so classy in this elegant restaurant! The food and the service was top notch! I will be back soon!! Chef Juan Reyes slogan is "Tradition with Vitality"! You must have a good experience! Closed Sunday & Monday Lunch: Tuesday- Friday 11:00-2:00 Dinner: Tuesday- Saturday 4:30-8:30

Patrons sat there and stared at each other for the most part with slow service. We knew it was Valentine's Day and had expected to wait, but to be fair to us, only half of the restaurant was filled. A dark haired woman walked by around 6:45 said she was going to come take our order, then we never saw her in the dining room or bar again. We never saw anyone's order being taken while we were there. Nobody ever came by. No bread. No drinks. Nothing. Around 7:10, we left and there was a line out the door, waiting to be seated. Unfortunately, the service was so bad, I don't think I could give this place a chance again.

What we found was the family restaurant of your dreams. This is a husband-and-wife-run spot (M & J), former IHOP veterans who quit to open something far better. Meaning fresh ingredients, homemade recipes, everything cooked from scratch with real love. They have eight kids who help run the restaurant, and from the second you walk in, you feel that this place runs on heart. The walls say things like "You are family here" and "We create memories & meals." The Wi-Fi password is literally "ThankYou." There are sticker machines, Pokémon cards, and Milky Way bars by the register. It's wholesome in the way that makes your nervous system relax. The hospitality is. Michele will call you sweetie and somehow never let your cup dip below half full. It's the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely cared for, not rushed or transactional. The menu is a treasure chest. We loved it so much we stopped on the way up and made explicit effort to come back on the way down. We ordered the country fried steak, steak omelet, chorizo omelet, and a breakfast sandwich... every single thing was incredible. Do not miss: * Biscuits and gravy (mandatory) * Chocolate chip pancakes * Country potatoes with bell peppers and onions (to die for) * House-made salsa -- genuinely some of the best I've ever had This place is the reason you take road trips the long way. If you're heading anywhere nearby, go here. Seriously.
