Went here for a team event and loved the overall experience. Not cheap but worth it. Overall I would recommend this place if expense is not a thing for you. Here are my takes: Food/Drinks: The lamb chops they gave in appetizers were too good. Other food was good too here. Plenty of good drinks to try here with an Irish touch to them, however, the bartender did mess up our couple of drinks (Bourbon mule) and we were like what's that, and Where is ginger in it? But anyway overall nice place to be. Service: The food servers were nice and quick too. The whole place was crowded but the food and drink were quickly served even at the bar. Ambiance: Many rooms to explore and there is a great vibe inside with unique decor. It is at the top floor of Mandalay and has a great holistic view of the begas lights. Hygiene: It was dark themed interior so hard to stay but everything seemed to be clean overall. Price: We did not pay since it was an office arranged party but I wouldn't be surprised if it is expensive. I would not go here every day but wouldn't mind being here on special occasions. read more

I truly felt the Vegas effect of great fine dining in the Foundation Room. We went with our friend, who is an executive chef in the area, so you know this place was going to be a culinary experience. Upon arriving on the top floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, we walked into this Asian-inspired interior design dining room with breathtaking views of the Vegas skyline. I loved the dark metal doors and the private dining areas as we walked to our table. Hanging out on the balcony to enjoy a direct view of the Vegas Strip skyline was breathtaking. In the more-than-capable hands of our friend and his friend, one of the chefs (I believe) at Foundation Room, we ordered a lovely array of starter items and main dishes that tantalized the senses and left my palate (and stomach) beyond satisfied. The servers were on point with delivering our orders and ensuring we had what we needed before enjoying. I was very impressed with the smoked beef tartare with smoked soy, black garlic, shallots, and chives served with a quail egg on top and port wine pearl onions. The dish was quite exquisite, which requested savoring the smoked beef with the complimenting quail egg. Both the bone marrow and pork belly dishes were out of this world in flavor, with distinct characters. I could have ordered multiple portions of both and been completely fine with those choices. The pan-seared diver scallops were delightful, perfectly seared, and served with porcini cream and a mushroom marmalade. The lamb loin was cooked to perfection and perfectly crusted using crushed pistachios and served with crispy brussels sprouts and seasonal mushrooms. For my first time tasting it, the prime rib cap with the roasted garlic was lovely. Dessert-wise, I enjoyed both the fresh berries and the butterscotch crème Brulèe, with the latter being my favorite because it came with butterscotch cotton candy. Capping off the meal with a pour of Springbank 15 year made the experience all the worthwhile. read more

What a fun time!!! I'll always come here when in Vegas. Last time was the Tropicana Implosion. Today was for the Super Bowl party. Had a seat in the large Shangri-La room. Plenty of oversized monitors all around. No one had a bad seat. Miranda was an absolute Rock Star taking care of me, as well as juggling other tables around the room. Always a smile. Never flustered, no matter how many others demanded her attention. Had a couple Bloody Mary's, a couple Espresso Martinis, a regular espresso, and a couple sparkling Liquid Deaths. The espresso was good because I'll probably head back to LA this evening. Food-wise I opted for a half order of the Steak Tasting, on their special Game menu. All medium rare. Perfectly cooked and sliced. So juicy and delicious! The Foundation Room has its own dining room during normal evenings. I seem to recall they recently updated their menu, too. I've never been disappointed. The full qualities served were generally for a table of four, while the half-sized portions took care of two people easily. The Foundation Room at the Mandalay Bay is where you go if you're looking to have a classic Vegas night. The beautiful view of the sparkling Mandalay Bay sign overlooking people, cars, casinos below. It's incredibly packed on the weekends and you'll have to wait your turn (5-10 minutes) to get a look at the view but it's worth it. Stop by the bar up there and grab a drink -- Monica was super nice and makes good drinks. I ordered a pineapple Malibu to pair with the view of the city. They've got go-go dancers as well. The women are dancing on tables and to hip-hop top 50 songs will be playing in the background. Just note that this is where you go if you don't mind rubbing elbows and maybe getting a drink spilled on you. It's very Vegas. read more

Beautiful space with an amazing view! Definitely worth coming before sunset so you can see the mountains surrounding Vegas. Came on a Wednesday night before they started charging covers. I wasn't a fan of the antique look which gave me the creeps. The DJ was okay. He played some good throwback & pop music but transitioned too quickly or the flow wasn't right. It looked like there were a bunch of people coming from a conference or business related event since they were carrying backpacks, had lanyards on, or just looked very out of place. The main selling point of Foundation Room was the view from the outdoor patio which is where the majority of the people were. Lemon Drop & AMF ($46): The drinks were pretty good & strong but the quality wasn't there. The bartenders don't seem to be too careful when handling the drinks since they got sugar all over the Lemon Drop. Had dinner here to celebrate an anniversary, and there aren't many places in the city you'll find a better view. Great for sunset dining, or looking at the city lights after dark. It also got a boost recently with a great view of the new Sphere. The service was great, and David took good care of us including working with us on a slight time crunch to make our show. The food was all tasty. The crab cake were smooth and had a good pan fried crisp. The steak was flavorful and prepared well, as were the scallops. The braised mushrooms were a standout with great flavor and texture that paired well with the steak. This club is on the 63rd floor of Mandalay bay and needs special reservations to get into. The interior is kind of old but very interesting. I liked that some rooms were more private and had a TV in them. The view from the balcony was amazing but if you sat down then the view would be blocked by the cement Balustrade. We came here to check out the new happy hour at 6 pm on a Sunday. The gentleman who checks you at the elevator was rude to us as we got there at 5:48 instead of 6:00. Really? Felt like we were at the DMV. Then you up the elevator to check in with hostess and got seated in the bar area. There is like a $25 minimum per person to sit on the couches. That is fine. The happy hour menu was nice. Nice selection of drinks and starters at a good price. $7 beers. Loved the breaded cauliflower. Wings were dry, but spiced. The ice cream cones were great! The weird thing in there is they came over and needed us to give one drivers license. We are over middle age. The place is showing its age with chipped paint scratched windows, and stained couches. I mean, it's been a while since I went out and had a drink with other young professionals (I've been caged in a hole in my house, watching twisted murder shows on discovery plus and hulu). So when VIP Social Club hosted an event here, I decided to drag myself out of the house, even though it was already dark out, and come and be social. I didn't regret it! The bar is decorated with a bunch of buddha statues and have that old school hookah bar vibe. Unfortunately there are no windows aside from some sweaty ones way high over the bar where you can't see anything out of. But you can get a view of the beautiful strip from their balcony. There's seating up there too but it looks to be reserved. Bartenders were friendly and the shots looked decent. The drinks I tried were also fine. I didn't order anything fancy so it's hard to screw up. I say this is a cute place to get a drink or go on a date. It may be good to check first to make sure there's not an event b/c the day I went there were multiple events and the place was packed. read more

First off, the ambience and location is fantastic. The views are amazing and the restaurant is intimate. We were a party of 11 and had a private room, off to the side of the main dining area. Private room had a nice large window with a nice view. The service was average, or I would say below average. The server was attentive and polite, however the busser that assisted him lacked customer service skills and was not pleasant. Overall the food was good, however the rib eye that I got was below average. The steak was not warm and appears to have been left sitting out too long, or not under a warming lamp, after cooking prior to serving. In addition, it was a little bland. read more

We came here for a group dinner last night and left disappointed. This place used to be top notch in terms of food, services, and environment, but all that's left now is a great view and lackluster food and poor services. To get to foundation room, there is a separate elevator that takes you directly up there but it is hidden in a corner that's away from the main elevators to the rooms, and more directions would be great. We finally made it up there and got seated, and the server Raymundo, greeted us in a friendly but awkward way. He immediately asked if we wanted water, which was good, but when we insisted on tap water, he gave us a weird look and walked away. He then came back and asked if we wanted any other drinks and pushed for alcohol, which most of us aren't drinkers. We ordered a coke and he looked annoyed as we didn't order any other drinks. My wife decided she wants to try one of their cocktail ($21!), he finally let off and was smiling again. Just a few minutes later he came back again and took our food order. He didn't make any suggestions for appetizers and just assumed we weren't going to order any. We ended up ordering the charcuterie board, shrimp cocktail for appetizer, and had bone in ribeye (normal and dry aged) filet mignon (6oz) market fish (salmon) and scallops. We also got creamed spinach, potato purée, and fries to share as our sides. We went out to the balcony to take pictures and came back to appetizers that had been sitting on our table for who knows how long. It would've been nice to alert us that appetizers were ready instead of them sitting on the table. Entree arrived after about 15 minutes, and they were overall average but not great like they used to be. The steaks were cooked to the temperature we ordered, and the scallops/salmon were good. The spinach and purée were delicious, but the fries were old and stale. We decided to skip dessert as we were full, and he once again gave us a look that made us feel uncomfortable. This wasn't the service that is expected from a restaurant with their price point. I'd definitely look elsewhere as there are way better options on and off the strip, and the only thing saving this place is it's views, which you can get next door at their bar. read more

Enjoyed the Foundation Room happy hour. The views of the Las Vegas Strip from the terrace are fantastic. Warming, it can be extremely Winston the outside terrace. The happy hour drink menu will run $11. For well drinks, $7 for a beer and $9 for a glass of wine. They also have a happy hour starters menu with prices at 10, 11 and 12 dollars. I recommend cauliflower tempura and the ice cream samplers, very tasty. Service as also great, Jen our server excellent, and all the staff I interacted with were friendly. One of my vegan trip happen to be in the club again, not surprised at all. Lol But luckily, I stumbled upon this bar on a Tuesday night, which turned out to be pretty decent amount of crowd and fun energy! ;) We we're looking for another rooftop bar called Skyfall, but it was closed that night for a private party. So A security guard suggested us going here, the foundation room, so we thought, great'! We'll take the elevator up to the rooftop floor and walk in, but no! to ask the elevator man, who pointed us to The ground floor register to pay $20 for an advanced pay ticket in order to get in, but the ticket can also be claimed for any of the free general drink (which means no cocktail, but only simple drink like beer, Gin & tonic, and Rum & Coke. The ticket only needs to be purchased by gentlemen because the entrance is free ladies ;) We had a great time viewing LV at night, nice dance, AMAZING MUSIC mixed by a good DJ who I forgot to get the name :p we'll be back the next time I'm in town! read more

Despite the winning view, the overall experience is degraded because this place is trying to punch above its weight. What I mean is, the experience is sold as high-end, the staff think they are in a high-end establishment, and the prices are definitely in the rarefied air of top tier restaurants. But the service and the food are, middling. The hostess is stationed at the main floor elevator, with an inexplicable two helpers and cordoned off access to the elevator. Pronouncing our reservation, one of the crew, presumably a bouncer, ceremoniously opens the cordon for us to enter. Simultaneously, the hostess radios up to the restaurant announcing our party's imminent arrival. It felt like the most unnecessary secret service operation ever. Arriving at the top floor, the dimly lit elevator bay and restaurant lobby are kind of pan Asian in decor, not at all matching the very limited and conventionally American menu. We are told to wait until at least half our party arrives. The place is not packed - it's just more ceremony to inflate the hype. Service was professional but at times slow. The food was ok. I had the salmon which was done ok but starting to lean on the overcooked side. I avoided the steak because the only reasonably priced option was for a 6 oz at USD 62. Anything bigger than that and we were in to the $70-80 range. My colleague had the 6 oz and it was not value for money by any stretch. The best thing about the meal was the roasted potato side that came with the salmon. It was crispy on the outside and layered finely to create a nice textural effect on the palate. Vegas is a lot of show with no substance. In fact, negative substance. But you don't come here for the substance. You come here for the food, the shows, the gambling if that's your bag, and the electricity of the city's party atmosphere. Restaurants like this are nothing more than tourist traps with out-of-touch pricing and pure hype to keep people coming through the doors. In a way, The Foundation Room is apropos of the true Las Vegas experience: expensive, average, and not worth the trip. read more

We visited the Foundation Room restaurant recently to celebrate our anniversary and really enjoyed it. We were seated quickly and once our first drink order was delivered, our server asked if we would like to enjoy it out on the patio overlooking the strip before getting our appetizer. We really liked that we were given that option and had the whole patio to ourselves. For an appetizer, we had the smoked beef tartare. Delicious! You could really taste the smoky flavor. For our dinner, we went with the scallops and a Wagyu steak. Both our meals were tasty and well prepared. Our mac and cheese and asparagus sides were also good. My favorite part though was stepping back out onto the patio after dinner for our after dinner espresso martini. The sun had set by this point and the view was great. Foundation is a good lounge and nite club. It's a little pricey, but the same price as a typical Las Vegas nite club. It's located at the top of the Mandalay Casino hotel. You have to take a specific elevator and go through security to get there. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The balcony area of the club has an amazing view of the Las Vegas strip.
