This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants ever. The berkshire porkchop is absolutely incredible, and hits every time. If we were to get something else, it would be anything with the truffle fries. The beet salad is a very generous size as well, and the calamari is great! The only menu item that has wver been underwhelming was the bisque, everything else is absolutely incredible. The dessert portions are definitely meant to be shared!! The restaurant is only a block away from the train station, and remains a perfect place to go when coming in from out of town or receiving guests. I like the food and cocktails I've had here-- but oddly we were early for a 730p reservation. Upon entering, we were told that the place closes at 8p so 'good thing you're early', which I thought set a horrible tone -- WHY THEN ACCEPT A 730P RES? Ugh- I would set this bt 3-4, feeling there's always some weirdness here, as described above (something similar happened in the summer on the patio, so again, why not just state your closing hours earlier?!). I've been to Founders over eight times now. I've generally had good experiences, except on two occasions, and today was one of them. We ordered the fried calamari, lollipop lamb chops, prime rib, a salad (w/ salmon), and, unfortunately, two baked stuffed shrimp dinners. The shrimp were small, filled with extra salty stuffing, too much stuffing, no crab meat to be found, and honestly overcooked. Horribly disappointed with those two meals. I informed the waitress (Kay, who was very nice as always) to inform the Chef and/or the manager. Now, I'm going to assume she did, but I can't be for sure. It was discouraging to watch what appeared to be a manager (the woman with pink clogs) speak to most tables around the restaurant, but never address our table. Even after our legitimate complaint of literally two bad meals, which were not cheap. Now, I can say that, since we were the only black customers, I certainly felt a certain way, but I can't confirm that either way. I will mention it because it is absolutely relevant: we were the only ones in the main dining room who were not addressed, how are we supposed to feel from our perspective? We all work hard for our money, and it is absolutely expensive to enjoy dinner out. The least you expect as a customer is for the restaurant staff to address your valid concerns. Very disappointed, and given that this is the second time, I do not plan on returning for dinner service. I've never had an issue with brunch, 100%. Brunch is always outstanding, but for some reason, I've run into these two issues with dinner service. read more

We had been recently to the bar on two occasions for margaritas and they were probably the best we've had. We had not eaten here in several years so thought we'd give it a try this evening. We arrived before six and was told by very pleasant hostess tables in the bar area were first come so go ahead and she would follow with menus. The tables were full so we asked bar tender who was also serving tables if we could sit in the room adjacent to bar. She was rude and told us to see the hostess. Who by that time was there with menus and did seat us in adjacent room. Eventually bar tender came over and briskly asked if we were ready to order. We ordered two margaritas, seafood bisque, chicken sandwich and stuffed shrimp. The room filled up and a waitress took care of the other tables. We found out there were specials by hearing her tell her tables about them. When the other tables received their cocktails before us I asked the food runner who delivered our entrees about our cocktails. He checked and said bar was busy. And we ordered before other tables who were all sipping their cocktails. Finally bar tender drops off our drinks and said she's busy serving the whole restaurant. The margaritas were disgusting. I think she just poured lime juice over ice. Meanwhile, everyone else in our room was taken care of by a very pleasant waitress. Not sure why we'd been stuck with the miserable bar tender who never came back to our table again. The stuffing was all breading and no flavor. I only had one of the three served. The mashed potatoes were like glue and flavorless. My husband said he would not order the chicken sandwich again. My advice is stay away from the bar if Franny is there. I waisted 96.00 on this restaurant but at least I didn't have to leave a tip. It shouldn't be the customers problem if the bar tender can not keep up with the crowd or is assigned to wait tables as well. Too many other good restaurants in Milford center to bother coming back here again. read more

We've gone here several times and have sat in every area of the restaurant, this is an across the board problem. Would it deter me from returning? Yesterday, 7/6/2025 we were driving through Milford and decided to try this restaurant for a quick drink on their patio because it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. We were promptly seated and greeted by Rebecca. We weren't hungry as had just had lunch 1/2 hour before, but hubby loves stuffed shrimp so we ordered it to try the food. The menu literally has something for everyone with steak, pork chops, pasta dishes, salads and burgers. The service was absolutely five stars in every sense. The area of improvement was with the shrimp "stuffed with crab". The ratio of ritz crackers to stuffed crab was off and not in a good way. Very little crab could be detected however the shrimp was cooked well, potatoes were tasty and asparagus just ok. The restaurant was immaculate as are the bathrooms. We plan on returning to try lunch as Monday-Friday they offer lunch portions but Sunday only dinner portions. Based on our experience, go with confidence. Food is good, but prices are high, and portions are not large. Good for a drink with a friend and maybe some small bites. But it'd be a large bill if eating a meal here plus drink plus apps. Service is usualy attentive, and the bread selection they give the table is awesome, good selection. I've only ever sat on the deck only, but it does echo. Went here for dinner one and their salmon is some on the best I've ever had. It's cooked perfectly. Crunchy outside but still tender on the inside. The corn salsa that comes with it is amazing. The coconut fried rice underneath is great but I do wish it was much smaller or thinner. It is a lot of rice I usually throw out more than half. The sauce is exceptional! The only disappointment was that these were to be "colossal" shrimp and they looked a little skimpy for that. Made Valentine's Day dinner reservation for 5. We were quickly greeted and seated. Angie took care of us this evening. We enjoyed bluepoint and east coast oysters to go with my old fashioned and my wife's mojito. So far so good. Place started to get busier so service slowed down (not enough wait staff?). Entrées we're the lobster tail and the halibut special with truffle infused polenta. The halibut was definitely the better of the two dishes. Lots of flavors dancing in my mouth with each bite. I was hopeful that Founders house pub and patio in Milford who took over the Rainbow Gardens location would be on par with my old favorite place. I suggested to my friends we should try it out for lunch. The server was pleasant but the food was not up to par. Some of us were upset with the atmosphere. It is now dark and rather gloomy. The food portions were minimal . My small beet salad did not have a lot of flavor. I sent the main course back.The open face prime rib was over cooked and dry. It is sad to see how a thriving restaurant could be diminished so significantly. I would encourage the owners to rethink the food and the atmosphere. I do like the location ! read more

My husband and I came here last night for our Anniversary. We made reservations online on OpenTable, and when we arrived we were greeted with "Happy Anniversary" from the hostess. We were seated immediately, in a small room next to the bar area with only 4 tables. Our server Samantha was great and we ordered drinks right away. I had a smoked maple old fashioned, it was good although I didn't really taste the maple. Our calamari appetizer was delicious, perfectly fried and not too greasy. My meal was the baked stuffed shrimp which I really enjoyed. I do have to say the mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had! The dessert menu is incredible and I had a very hard time deciding which one to get- I wanted them all! I finally chose the Mudslide tower and it was huge! Definitely a good choice. I'm in town visiting friends and we came to this restaurant. We got lucky with parking, found a spot on the street right out front. Cute place, with outdoor seating and of course indoor. I chose the 1117 Hawaiian, a delectable libation made with Empress Indigo gin, orgeat syrup,pineapple juice and lemon. For my appetizer I chose the Escargot. Delicious, perfectly cooked and full of garlic, I did not expect to get such a large portion! I would have ordered a salad and made it my main meal. I'm starting off this dinner not very happy. First we were given super hot water glasses and were told "that's all we have." Weird. We asked for ice, no issues there. I order the Berkshire pork chop and was asked "how would you like that cooked." I have super anxiety and I was stuttering over my words because I have never had anyone ask me how I want my pork cooked? Uh... still thinking about it and I'm still not sure. Last time we were here my husband got this dish and they didn't ask him that question. Our waitress looked at me like I was straight up stupid. ‍ I just medium because what the hell. We ordered the no dip wings. Said nothing about being boneless and we got boneless... most of the pieces weren't aren't that crispy, and the Korean BBQ was SO salty it started to burn my lips and I could only eat 3. My teeth are super dull and for some odd reason the chicken was super stringy and I was having issues biting and chewing. My husband got the new York strip and asked for medium rare. Got medium well. My pork was so undercooked that it just tasted like fat. The texture was horrible. I only ate my sweet potato and burssel sprouts. The steak was too peppery. He ate it all though. Except for the green beans. Those were not even cooked well enough. *sigh* I ordered the Banana foster cake and it is very good but the cake is very dense and there just isn't enough bananas or sauce to make it not dry. Even the ice cream didn't really help if I'm being honest but definitely delicious. Also if a company is selling such pricey meats, the least they can do is make real whipped cream and not with cool whip ‍ Over all, even though I am full, I give this experience a 2 out of 5. There's a good chance we will come back, but we were just a little disappointed. Almost like everything changed. read more
