My partner and I came on a Friday night, and this spot was popping! It's definitely a spot where locals meetup. We snagged two seats by the bar and were able to watch sports on the three screens above the modest bar. There's outdoor seating, which always seemed full when we walked by. The patrons seem to spill out onto the sidewalk.

Such a cute and friendly local spot . We had great appetizers . The beef sliders and chicken quesadillas are must haves . The meat was perfectly cooked and super flavorful. Quesadillas were served with a great crema on top .Everything was fresh and delicious !! Service and ambiance was great Can't wait to come back and try more options

We have been walking/running by Nautilus for the longest time and finally had the chance to stop by for dinner! Definitely a bar crowd. Food was great but service was fair. Our waitress apologized for forgetting to take our order because she was too busy tending the bar. Brussel sprouts were awesome. The meatball alla vodka pizza was also great- definitely crispy but we loved the pizza seasoning used to flavor their pie. Don't think we will be back as the crowd and service just weren't our taste but the food was good.

I went for the lobster roll which was tasty served on a nice toasted bun. A small container of coleslaw and onion rings. Side options are fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. I opted for the rings which were fried well but not too far where they weren't good. They were tasty. When you bite into the ring the onion stayed inside the batter. I hate when you take a bite and half the onion ring comes out. This did not. My husband had the fish and chips which was tender and again a nice coating which was fried well and not greasy. He opted for the sweet potato fries which he enjoyed. The staff was friendly and engaging. The interior has a New England coastal feel.

Nautilus is a New American restaurant that opened in Milford, Connecticut in March 2023. It was founded by business partners Nick Amoratis and Crystal Ardito-Meyers. Amoratis' family has been in the restaurant business for several years. Nick's grandparents Antonios and Vasoliki Amoratis opened Alfa Pizza (a Greek-style pizzeria) in the Walnut Beach section of Milford in 1980. Antonios and Vasoliki's sons John and Mike transitioned the pizzeria into a full service restaurant with a bar in 2000. Although the family had as many as three pizzerias open in Connecticut at the same time, it was the Walnut Beach pizzeria that stayed open for 41 years. Following some tragic family accidents, the pizzeria closed for good in 2021. Nick and longtime Alfa employee Crystal had talked for years about opening their own restaurant, so they started to transition the restaurant space into a new concept. The name 'Nautilus' was chosen because it is a symbol of nature's grace in growth, expansion and renewal. The food menu features burgers, sandwiches, salads, seafood dishes, bar bites, and New Haven-style pizza. My family and I recently had dinner at Nautilus for the first time. We previously tried their pizza last summer at the first Connecticut Pizza & Brew Fest. We thought that their pizza was excellent and we were happy when we heard that they were voted "Best in the Fest". My family and I arrived around 6PM on a Sunday evening. We first decided to order some small plates to share, including a "Quesadilla" (chicken in a tortilla, served with pico & sour cream) and "Philly Eggrolls" (hand rolled & served with Nauti sauce). They were pretty tasty, but we were most looking forward to pizza. We shared a "Margherita" (red with tomato, fresh mozzarella, EVOO, fresh basil & pecorino romano) and a "Bacon & Onion" Pie. Good sauce, good toppings and great crust! Although we really enjoyed the food, we were a little disappointed with our overall experience. During our visit there were several menu item omissions (due to the restaurant running out of various ingredients), they were installing a new fish tank (which was a little noisy), and the service was very slow (which seemed to be due to staffing issues). Several times we heard the server tell the customers, "We're very sorry for the long wait, but you all sort of came in at the same time." With all due respect, shouldn't a restaurant be prepared for a dinner crowd? I realize that restaurants can have bad nights, but this was our first time eating in and first impressions are lasting ones. I would totally order take-out from Nautilus again because their pizza is excellent, but not sure if I would eat in again. Food: 5 Stars Dine-in Experience: 2 Stars

This has officially become my new favorite spot in Milford. The sommelier was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I ordered a wine flight, something I have never seen in a local spot! I loved one of the wines! For food, I had the Lobstah roll which was delicious and fresh! The onion rings on the side were crunchy and delicious. My sister got fries instead and they were perfectly seasoned and crunchy. The staff was also super attentive, checking up on us regularly. The ambiance was casual and beachy. I'll definitely return to try their pizza and the red wine flight and enjoy great service. Well done.

What an adorable spot near Walnut Beach! I stopped in on a beautiful day with my mom for lunch, and we were so impressed by the cute beachy theme. The Philly cheesesteak eggrolls were a great appetizer, and my mom enjoyed the tropical Nauti Pirate cocktail. From reading their backstory, I knew that they were previously a pizza place, so I definitely wanted to check out one of their New Haven style pizzas. We had the mashed potato and it was so yummy! The fish and chips with onion rings were good as well, and our server and the owner were attentive and friendly. Definitely a great spot to check out before or after a beach day!

The menu is on the smaller size, but has great offerings and is suitable for the space the building holds. Our order: -We took advantage of the half off wings special for Sundays. The wings were a good size and we enjoyed the blue cheese. -Brussel sprouts: piping hot! And a HUGE portion size. These are a saucier style (loved the maple flavor) as opposed to crispy. Definitely recommend. -Buffalo Cauliflower: Just the right amount of kick and perfectly roasted. We loved the ranch dipping sauce. Also definitely recommend. -We had to try the O.G. Chicken sandwich as it appears to be the menu staple. The edges could have used some more sauce, but the middle bites of the sandwich were juicy! Loved the pickles, bacon, ranch, and American cheese flavor combo. -Side of onion rings, was served with honey mustard. Not overly greasy, had great flavor. Service was great, we loved the music but wish we could have heard more commentating from the basketball games. We were frustrated at times with the use of their plastic utensils... we often were fighting with our veggies as they slid off of our forks, but understand how the plastic utensils aligns with their popular food truck. We left feeling VERY full and took some wings to go. There were quite a few parties for a Sunday night, and their take out business seemed steady. Liberty Rock Tavern appears to be a hidden gem of a sports bar in the Milford area. We definitely plan to go back!

A Shore Thing: Diving into Delight at Lazy Lobster 6…read moreBroadway, Milford CT. Nestled along the shimmering shores of Walnut Beach in Milford, CT, the Lazy Lobster (now under new ownership) beckons with its inviting charm and coastal allure. Upon entering, you're immediately enveloped in a warm, nautical atmosphere adorned with marine-themed decor--think driftwood accents, maritime photographs, and vibrant hues reminiscent of the sea. The gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore creates a soothing soundtrack, while the salty sea breeze mingles with the aroma of fresh seafood, making every breath feel like a mini-vacation. The outdoor dining area, complete with charming tiki umbrellas, invites you to soak up the sun while enjoying your meal, offering a refreshing breeze from Long Island Sound. The restaurant features two bar options: the front bar, which overlooks the street and opens to the outside, allowing you to sip cocktails while enjoying the coastal vibe, and the back bar, a full-service bar that's cozy and enclosed within the restaurant, perfect for a more intimate setting. The menu reads like a treasure map for seafood lovers, boasting dishes as fresh as a sea breeze. The standout is the Lazy Lobster Roll, available in three sizes: the 4-ounce, the 6-ounce, and a generously portioned larger option. Each roll is piled high with succulent lobster and served on a buttery baguette (yes, you read that right--a baguette!). You can also opt for the hotdog bun version, inviting you to dive in with reckless abandon. Accompanying it are crispy fries and tangy coleslaw, creating a delightful contrast to the richness of the lobster. My companion tried the butter-poached lobster tacos, which come with tomato salsa, avocado, and lime-cilantro dressing, showcasing the ocean's bounty wrapped in corn shells--delicious, even if she prefers flour tortillas. To wash it all down, we sipped on cocktails: the Lucky One High Noon Lemonade and the house Margarita, each refreshing as a dip in cool ocean waves. As you savor your meal, tales of Milford's rich maritime history add intrigue to the experience. The area is known for Charles Island and Captain Kidd, with whispers of lost vessels and ghostly apparitions of sailors who never returned. This lore enhances the atmosphere, making each bite a connection to the sea's mysterious past. Quinn, our server, embodies the spirit of the restaurant--welcoming as the tides returning to shore. Her extensive knowledge of the menu is impressive, and her willingness to share stories about the Lazy Lobster's history makes the dining experience feel personal and engaging. Her attentiveness and friendly banter create a sense of community, reminding you that good food is best enjoyed with good company. The Lazy Lobster is more than just a restaurant; it's a "catch of the day" in every sense. With delectable dishes, a vibrant atmosphere, and service that feels like a warm embrace, this beachside gem promises a "whale of a time" that lingers long after the last bite. If you're seeking a taste of the coast with a sprinkle of local charm, this is the place to drop anchor.

Was able to get a same-day reservation on OpenTable, which in retrospect is probably a bad sign.. Arrived at 5:25, hostess (not super welcoming) sat us right away. And we sat. And sat. And sat some more.. Servers were passing by and no one acknowledged us at all except for the bus boy who gave us water when we first sat down. We were sitting outside on the patio on the side of the building; we were next to other tables that also have people sitting there. Bus boys and servers must've passed us 20 times and just ignored us. After 20 minutes! I was finally able to get the attention of a server and let her know that no one had even taken our drink order yet. She assured me that our server was coming. Another 10 minutes went by, the same server realize that we were STILL waiting, and seemingly went inside to tell our server to wait on us. She finally arrived (we had been waiting 35 to 40 minutes at this point), no apology. Ordered our beverages and also told her we are ready to order food. Ordered a shrimp cocktail, the cheese garlic bread, a ribby roll and hot buttered lobster roll. And then we waited. Lol Drinks and Shrimp cocktail came right away. Shrimp was fresh, cocktail sauce good. Garlic bread never arrived. Entrees took a long time. We heard another server telling the table behind us that the kitchen was out of french fries. They never told us that but when the ribby & lobster rolls arrived, there was just a very small amount of fries on the plates. The lobster roll comes in three sizes now all varying degrees of expensive.. They do still have the same fresh baked rolls which is really what makes this lobster roll so good. The lobster was fresh, Unfortunately, I did not see any tail meat at all. It was all claw meat. I did look inside at the renovation, it's very nice, looks a little bit fancy for this type of beachside establishment. I mean, it looks great, but it was fine the way it was. Now it feels like they had to raise prices on the food to help pay for the remodel. The food that I had was still really good. I still do love their lobster rolls - those rolls really makes it for me. However they need to make sure every roll has tail meat too. The service is the real issue here. The hostess and servers and bus boys all look to be pretty young. They were pleasant enough, but seem to have no direction or motivation. I think with the right person managing them they'd be fine, but apparently they do not have a competent person in charge of these servers. There is absolutely no excuse for Customer sitting there for 25 minutes before they're even acknowledged. No apology, didn't get everything we ordered, yeah, just not a good experience.. with this type of service, they are not gonna stay in business long. At this point, I think they had been open about a month? Maybe they still need time to fully drain staff and get it together? I really hope so. It wasn't even super busy. I am willing to pay more for good food and service. But this was really pretty unacceptable .
