I received a quote that was twice more than what was quoted. When I canceled the policy the next day, I was charged $200. I was initially told i was only going to be charged $50.00. I wish I could give them -10 stars. A Founders Insurance driver side swiped me on the interstate on 12/22/17 and Founders admitted their driver was at fault. Of course they came back and said the body shop I wanted to use was over charging, and they adjusted the estimate. The body shop said they could work with the amount that Founders approved. I make my appointment to drop it off and to get a rental. I drop my car off and head to enterprise. The clerk at enterprise called Founders, and come to find out, Founders will NOT pay for any rentals. They will only reimburse. I go back to the body shop, and the body shop offered to set up and pay for the rental as long as Founders would reimburse them. Well, Founders wont approve that because the rental has to be in my name. So I am expected to pay at least $1000 out of my pocket when their driver was at fault? I don't think so. Considering all the hoops I had to jump through to even get to this point, I seriously doubt I would be reimbursed anyways. The adjuster I am working with is rude and unprofessional. I will either be contacting an attorney to take over the case, or filing a claim with my insurance, Geico, and they can go after Founders to get my deductible back. Absolute nightmare. The gentleman at Enterprise and everyone at the body shop couldn't believe that Founders expected me to pay for the rental when I wasn't at fault. I think was pisses me off the most is my car is only 6 months old, and Founders will not pay for the damaged factory rim. They want to put an after market rim on my car, which is truly laughable. I just filed a complaint with the Illinois Dept. of Insurance for the same reason a lot of these other reviewers are complaining about. My vehicle was struck from behind by Founders client my daughter was sitting at a red light, the driver received a ticket and admitted blame. I got into an accident and they decide to not cover a broken side mirror which cost $195. My front end and hood got pretty messed up and most of the damages were on the front pass side fender and my pass side housing mirror. They said that was not part of the accident....what kind of insurance says that???? I mean com'on! Your own insurance not giving you the benefit of the doubt?!? I can see if the damage they dont want to cover wasn't anywhere near the front end...like rear spoiler or rear windshield. For a lousy 200 dollar part, they would rather lose their own client. And, mind you, I have NO speeding tickets and NO accidents in the last 5years that I'm at fault. I just had to change coz my 2boys just recently got their license and I want to lower the cost. So, we were both going back and forth over the phone and she finally said that if I want to contest this, I would have to see the adjuster during the week...not on the weekend nor not after work. When I told them if they can look at the pictures to determine if it was part of the damage they said absolutely not...thats shady! I know what they want to do...she wants me to take a half a day out of my work and for them to just deny it...FORGET IT! So I just reported them on BBB. Even though the driver admits fault they have dragged the issue out and have thrown every excuse under the sun why they shouldn't pay. I am a single father and my truck is essential to my business. Thank God for reviews, my fiance has this company for insurance thru United Auto Insurance first and foremost UAI agents are very very rude and the adjusters at Founders has yet to return his call three days later. A young lady backed into his new car and it wasn't even a complete month old and it's been a headache getting any information. I am not going to spend to much time describing my experience with Founders Insurance and I wont name any names however don't expect this company and their representatives to call you back even after you leave 10 voice mails. Avoid this company at any cost, and make sure you have something called GAP insurance because this insurance will pay the difference that Founders doesnt cover. They are by law suppose to offer you the Retail Cash Value of your car after a total loss of your vehicle, but the company they use to CCC One Market Value does not do a fair market comparison of your auto,they even substitute a manual transmission for automatic transmission. Founders Insurance was the insurer for a driver who was found to be 100% at fault in the accident, which totaled my car. However, Founders engages in fraudulent behavior. They devalued my car by 33%, only covered four weeks of rental car cost dispirit taking six weeks to issue an offer, and refused to answer or return calls along the way. They finally issued their offer six weeks after the accident and two weeks after ending rental coverage. They never did cover any of the rental coverage and after more than two months of calling and leaving messages, I finally reported them to the Better Business Bureau. After being contacted by the BBB, Founders finally paid for the four weeks of rental coverage, but still left me with the cost of the next three weeks before they issued their refund and four weeks before it arrived (two months after the accident). This is fraudulence at its prime. They lied on multiple occasions, including to the BBB, and in the ended cheated their way out of about $1500 that was owed. The individuals who work for Founders should be ashamed of themselves for enabling this fraud and leaving massive financial burdens on wronged individuals who then have to call every day for months and still never receive what is owed. read more

Founders insurance agents are A-holes who don't return clients calls or emails and they lie and continue to lie everyday. My total loss claim hasn't been settled they took my car they have my title but my check has not even been processed. My adjuster Kim desjarlait has not returned my calls and I always give them the benefit of doubt before I start calling and leaving messages and emails which go unanswered. I am currently without my work vehicle and they do nothing to speed up the process. I have never dealt with an insurance company who's customer relations are this poor and I get sorely irritated evertime I call them. My advice to you is cheap isn't always good. They F-ing SUCK when it comes to claims so I'm done.dont f with them. Shop elsewhere and get better coverage from a reputable company. I wish there was an option for no stars. Horrible customer service. I like to be reminded when my payment is due, I, like everyone else, live a very hetic and busy life. Two months in a row I didn't receive my bill in the mail. All I received was the policy lapse notice. The notice was processed on the 25, the payment was due the 26. I received the notice on the 28th. I had been driving around without insurance for a couple days. According to Founders it was my fault for not knowing when my payment was due. Then why even send out a policy lapse notice?? Funny how when I called in to check on what was going on they said they had proof they had sent out the bill. I told them I never got it. They blamed everyone but themselves. Didn't even apologize just to be nice or something. I asked if the late fees could be refunded. They said no, because other people had said that too. I would never tell a friend or family memeber to come to this company. after paying my insurance every month I wanna know and feel like I come first. Where do I start,just hearing there name gives me a headache.To begin,the guy rear ends my wife, he gets out and the first thing he asked her was if she had insurance,and my wife right away said," the question is ,do YOU have insurance.My wife called me when it happened,luckily i was about 5 minutes away.She told him that "the husband" is coming over,and according to my daughter he got very nervous...he wanted to leave. BEWARE Founders policy is that they only pay $28 per hour shop rate to fix your car. You have a choice to go elsewhere, but you have to pay the difference. Any argument that your preferred shop charges a standard customary reasonable rate goes no where. I complained to their parent company Utica Mutual and am in the process of making sure they change there policy for all the people that don't have other options and are forced to deal with the take it or leave it attitude.
