An example of their Monday Lunch Special.

This place is a cute little cafe inside of Founder's Square. In addition to deli items, they also serve Indian/Pakistani dishes on Mondays as well as have fusion options on Thursdays (ex: chicken tikka quesadillas). What really caught my eye were the Indian/Pakistani options! I interned in this building so I had the pleasure of being able to see what specials they offered each day. Each day, there was a different special and it would vary week by week. I was lucky enough to keep an eye on the specials and stop by if something sounded good to me. To the general public, it would be pretty difficult to know what options are available unless you stop by randomly and see what they have to offer (I'm sure you could also call ahead of time too). The first time I stopped by, I wanted to try their lunch special. I believe it was butter chicken over rice with a samosa and raita or aloo gobi over rice with a samosa and raita. For $6.99/plate or for $7.99 (a combination of the two entrees, samosa, raita), that price cannot be beat! Unfortunately, the first time I stopped by, they were completely out of the specials! I was pretty bummed especially since it was only noon. However, they did have 2 beef pastries ($2.50/each) and 2 beef samosas ($0.99/each) left, so I purchased those. The beef pastry was perfectly seasoned with tons of different spices all tucked inside a huge puff pastry. The samosa was seasoned a similar way but it was wrapped inside a pastry wrap similar to egg roll wrappers. I enjoyed those two items so I decided to stop by a week later to hopefully try the specials. Luckily, I was able to snag the combo deal this time around. I ordered butter chicken, aloo gobi, rice, and a vegetarian samosa. I felt that the portion was decent for the price, but I wish I had more sauce and meat (I only had like 3-4 pieces of chicken) on top of my rice. The curries weren't seasoned heavily, which is what I would expect from Indian dishes, but overall, I felt that the flavors were okay. It's a nice treat if you work in the building, but I don't see myself going out of my way if I didn't work in the building.

Short walk from the KB Convention Center for a great quiet little lunch spot! I discovered this place via Yelp while I was in town attending a convention last year. So good I came back this year while in town for another convention. The owners are friendly and nice. The food is fresh and prepared to order. No onions in their tuna fish salad! So, I had it on wheat toast - yum! Additional seating down the hall just past the elevators - see picture.

Delicious sandwiches! Very friendly and helpful staff. A little tough to find (located on the bottom floor of the Founder's Building) but well worth the effort! I tried the tuna salad on wheat toast and it was delicious and clearly made with care. If you want a great quick lunch option, this is it. Also, their prices are ridiculously low - seriously, raise your prices 15%, no one will even notice :-)

This place definitely…read moremade jury duty more bearable as I had something good to look forward to for lunch during my 4 days at the court house! Short walk from the courthouse. I was always greeted immediately upon walking in and the staff was very nice and helped me with placing takeout orders. Service was always fast, and the food was so good. Over the days, I ordered a Ham&Cheese, Reuben, Club, and Patty Melt. The Reuben was my absolute favorite. I liked that the corned beef and pastrami was not too salty. The rye? bread that was used was sooo soft and fluffy which is what made this place memorable to me. Side pickle was also crunchy and tasty and I liked the potato salad! Thank you for making my court days a little bit better. I'm glad there are other locations so I don't need to return downtown to get a great sandwich again!

Heading towards Dallas, I asked Mrs. K. if she wanted proper smoked salmon for breakfast and she was all in. As we're in the area for the Sixth Floor museum, this was an easy stop once we found and paid for parking. A small storefront with a large dining room that is decorated with some New York themed photos, we seated ourselves and a waitress brought over menus followed by coffee. We placed our orders and about ten minutes later, breakfast arrived. Mrs. K.'s platter included a good portion of thin sliced salmon along with ALL of the fixings including capers, cucumber, tomato, red onion and cream cheese. The toasted everything bagel was very good but not quite "New York style" perfection. Hey, it's Texas. You get to slide. My nova, eggs and onion plate was excellent with a huge portion of home fries. Cooked properly and with plenty of salmon mixed in, I enjoyed it very much. The biscuits were excellent, the gravy was a little thin on sausage but still tasty. Five stars because it's great service and great food. This is as close to New York style as you'll get when you're 1400 miles from Brooklyn. [Review 394 of 2026 - 709 in Texas - 25578 overall]
