    Reuben and potato salad.
    Charles W.

Went to Deli News for a late breakfast/early lunch and was quickly seated. My wife ordered the cinnamon apple pancakes and I went with a Reuben. Service took a little while but the place was fairly busy. My Reuben had a ton of meat and sauerkraut and the poor bread didn't have a chance to contain it. I wasn't a fan of the potato salad. It was pretty bland. My wife really enjoyed her pancakes. Overall, would definitely return.

This is the place to go in Dallas for NY style Jewish deli. Today I had the #1, corned beef, pastrami, Russian dressing, and cole slaw on rye. Double decker sandwich. I chose cole slaw for my side. Diet Dr Browns Black Cherry soda. Absolutely delicious. Their rye is baked fresh daily, crunchy crust and soft inside. Fast and friendly service.

Deli News is your authentic NY Style Deli from a food standpoint, but the waitstaff is all friendly, attentive, and terrific, not brash and obnoxious. The vibe is very relaxed with no one rushing you to turn the table. Always a + when your dining with family you haven't seen in a while. I was in the mood for a salami omelet with cheddar, and voilà, they whipped one up. I also frequently pick up cold cuts, chopped liver or white fish salad for home. I've tried many other menu items and never been disappointed.

The Rueben Hot Sandwich with rings! Delish!

My go to place for legit deli food in Dallas. Best corned beef / Rueben that I've had in Dallas. Definitely try this place!

Combo sandwich 1 (brisket, pastrami and coleslaw) with onion rings

As a former New Yorker now in Texas, you know I had to give this place a shot. The Yelp photo looked promising, and I'm always chasing that deli nostalgia. We stopped in for lunch and were seated quickly...uncrowded and speedy service, which is always a plus. We started with the "everything but the kitchen sink" soup which includes a matzo ball, kreplach, and noodles in one bowl. Heads up: a bowl is massive. Save yourself and go for the cup (which is basically a bowl). We also split the #1 club sandwich consisting of corned beef and pastrami with coleslaw on rye, and a side of Russian dressing. Onion rings were our side of choice. It comes stacked with three slices of bread, and in hindsight, I would've skipped the third slice. Both meats were good, but kind of indistinguishable from one another, and not quite reaching the deli heights of Katz or 2nd Ave Deli (but hey, we're in Texas, not the Lower East Side). Onion rings were the breaded variety which are not my favorite style, but there were lots of them, and we still polished them off. We waddled out stuffed, and the bill came to about $34 - not too bad. Bathroom situation? Clean, but clearly moonlighting as a storage closet. Classic. All in all, not a bad fix for a deli craving in the Lone Star State...

    ABC on onion roll

This place needs no introduction. A well known sandwich spot thats won many notable awards. This is my first time stopping in for a pick up order. I had seen an IG post of the ABC on onion roll. I ordered that exactly. The sandwich did not disappoint. Every bit as delicious as it looks. While the price of sandwich and side was as hefty as the sandwich itself, the quality is very noteworthy. If you want a quality ingredient sandwich thats pretty outstanding be sure to give this place a visit.

Nice little neighborhood diner. The food and service is good, but the prices are steep. We got the pastrami and the Coney Island, Onion rings and coleslaw were good too.

I remember when Deli News was at Hillcrest in Arapaho. It was great then. It's even better now. I've been eating there since they moved to Dallas. I always get the corn beef sandwich on rye bread and they have never failed me. I eat their regularly and enjoy it. Invite friends there when they come in from out of town. I have a San Antonio Buddy that doesn't have a deli where he lives and it's his first stop when he gets to Dallas. He loves the Reuben sandwich.

If I wanted a salad I would have ordered one.

Was willing to give it a try. I really wanted to like... The waitress was sweet... I ordered a BLT on toasted white with yellow mustard. when I got the sandwich... it had more iceberg lettuce on it than it did beacon... only three pieces of bacon!!! I had to remove the lettuce... SEE PICTURE... This sandwich was not made with love.. do you think this is worth 16.49???

I was always greeted immediately upon walking in and the staff was very nice and helped me with placing takeout orders. Service was always fast, and the food was so good. Over the days, I ordered a Ham&Cheese, Reuben, Club, and Patty Melt. The Reuben was my absolute favorite. I liked that the corned beef and pastrami was not too salty. The rye? bread that was used was sooo soft and fluffy which is what made this place memorable to me. Side pickle was also crunchy and tasty and I liked the potato salad! Thank you for making my court days a little bit better. I'm glad there are other locations so I don't need to return downtown to get a great sandwich again!

Heading towards Dallas, I asked Mrs. K. if she wanted proper smoked salmon for breakfast and she was all in. As we're in the area for the Sixth Floor museum, this was an easy stop once we found and paid for parking. A small storefront with a large dining room that is decorated with some New York themed photos, we seated ourselves and a waitress brought over menus followed by coffee. We placed our orders and about ten minutes later, breakfast arrived. Mrs. K.'s platter included a good portion of thin sliced salmon along with ALL of the fixings including capers, cucumber, tomato, red onion and cream cheese. The toasted everything bagel was very good but not quite "New York style" perfection. Hey, it's Texas. You get to slide. My nova, eggs and onion plate was excellent with a huge portion of home fries. Cooked properly and with plenty of salmon mixed in, I enjoyed it very much. The biscuits were excellent, the gravy was a little thin on sausage but still tasty. Five stars because it's great service and great food. This is as close to New York style as you'll get when you're 1400 miles from Brooklyn. [Review 394 of 2026 - 709 in Texas - 25578 overall]

Normally, I don't consider people from St. Louis to be credible deli evaluators, but I was desperate and made the hour drive to Grapevine. We got there at 11:15 and the line was nearly to the door. Within 30 minutes, it was well out into the street. That was a promising sign. The sandwich menu covered the entire wall over the counter. Lots of non-New-York sandwiches like Cubans, gyros, etc, but over in the left corner were the classic Ruebens and pastramis. I went for the latter. A REAL NY deli usually has a few soups like split pea and chicken noodle and matzoh. No soups. Bummer. They had a half dozen sides - 3 kinds of potato salads and a few slaws. I went with the German potato salad. The drink option was spartan - they tossed a styrofoam cup at me and pointed to the soda fountain. The pastrami sandwich was OK for Texas. A SUPER pastrami sandwich on hard rye can get me moaning like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" -- only I don't have to fake it. The German potato salad was watery and bland - I should have gone with the mustard potato salad. Turnaround was on the slow side. Napkins = paper towel roll on table. Flimsy plasticware. The overall vibe was affordable utilitarian. I'll give the sandwich a 4, everything else a 3. Next time I'll drive the extra half hour to Cindi's.

I can't say for certain what caused it, but guessing maybe something from the display case, but the flavor was so HORRIBLE that I only managed two bites of each before throwing them away because I didn't feel comfortable eating any more in fear of getting sick. The coffee frosting also had an old, stale coffee flavor. The chocolate cake was better. It was good, but not great. The cake itself wasn't dry, but it wasn't super moist either.
