loved the old retro diner vibe -- lots of history behind this place! Super busy on a Friday during lunch time! Strawberry pancakes (8/10): classic. Loved that they used fresh strawberries and that there wasn't a compote or jam used. Not too sweet. Came with whipped butter! I'd probably try this in waffle form next time but these were still solid! Everything but the bagel bagel with jalapeno cream cheese (8/10): bagel had a nice chew but I personally like mine a little fluffier and crispier. 6/7/26-My wife reports she considered her Reuben Sandwich very good. Not the best she'd ever had, but one of the better ones. This was my first visit since the 1970s and I'll go back again sometime but not soon to try other dishes. My Eggs Benedict left a lot to be desired. The eggs were way overcooked and the hash browns had not been cooked long enough and tasted like they'd been prepared with oil that was slightly rancid. Improved quality control in the kitchen is suggested. The plate held the Eggs Benedict and hash browns were the only thing on the plate. I went to the original Cindi's NY Deli location in Dallas for brunch and pastries after a friend recommended it to me. I was also interested in the history behind the business and how the owner came to America and started the restaurant decades ago. The brunch was very classic American style, comforting and satisfying. The pastries, though, were heavenly. If I hadn't been traveling, I definitely would have bought more to take home. I stopped by Cindi's Deli in Dallas (off 75) around late morning--about 11:30am--for a mid-day bite, and it was such a great experience. I ordered the sausage omelet with hash browns, and everything was fresh, hot, and flavorful. The omelet was cooked perfectly and the hash browns were just how I like them--crispy and seasoned well. The service? 10/10. My waiter was a kind young gentleman who was attentive without being overbearing. I shared that it was my birthday and that I was stopping in to honor my dad, who used to love coming to Cindi's. That small detail clearly meant something, because before I left he offered me a slice of cake to celebrate. I chose the carrot cake to go -- and let me tell you, it was divine. I'm not big on sweets, but carrot cake (and strawberry shortcake or white cake with white frosting) are my exceptions. This one was moist, flavorful, and worth every bite. Cindi's has multiple locations, and while I've frequented the Campbell/Richardson location in the past, this Dallas location off 75 was just as welcoming and consistent. My boyfriend and I stopped by Cindi's for breakfast after an early flight into Dallas, and enjoyed every bite. I had a breakfast special with two eggs, two pieces of bacon, hash browns, and an everything bagel - which I put all on top of each other to make a breakfast sandwich on the bagel. It was fabulous. My wife and I were in Dallas and she was craving a good deli. I knew right where to go and drive straight to Cindi's on central expressway. I've been here before but it was her first time. She loved the interior and plenty of open seats on a Sunday afternoon. The service was a little slow on a day where it wasn't busy. We had to ask for drink refills multiple times after trying to get our waiters attention. We split a bowl of the matzo ball soup combo. Awesome I loved my #4 combo which is pastrami and corned beef. Came here for breakfast, and unfortunately didn't really enjoy it. Pancakes were dry and flavorless, even though I got blueberry pancakes. To me it tasted like bisquik mix with nothing added to it. Bacon and eggs were good. Service was fine, they lost our ticket in the kitchen so they had to retake our order, but they got our food out within minutes of that. Not a big deal, stuff happens. Visiting from Fort Worth, my family and I decided to spend the night in Dallas for a staycation. We usually go to Carshons in Ft Worth, and I don't claim to be a Reuben expert, but this was honestly one of the best Reubens I've had. It was packed with flavor, juicy, and perfectly seasoned without being overly salty. My only real complaint was that the bread became a little soggy by the time I ate it, although the bread itself was delicious. I also wish they were a little more generous with the sauerkraut. Next time, I'll ask for more! Overall, it was an excellent sandwich, and I would absolutely come back the next time I'm in Dallas. Definitely worth trying. read more

This is my goto deli in the dallas area. I knew the original owners and food quality has not changed even after they sold many years ago. Sandwiches are good size and quality meats. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Restaurant is well lit with plenty of natural light. I come here pretty often since it's very close to me. The food is amazing and as someone who's lived in New York for awhile, the food does take me back to the city. Everything tastes fresh. There's multiple bagels, spreads, breads, meats you can buy just like at a deli. The interior has a classic diner feel. The servers are always attentive too. All the portions of the food has been really generous for the price. My last visit I had a taco omelette which was huge and tasty, and the home fries were crispy. I always get the pancakes on the side because it's so fluffy yet slightly crisp on the outside. The biscuits are also really soft. I tried my friends deli omelette as well, which is more of a flatter "egg pancake" style. The omelette had a huge amount of deli meats inside, they didn't skimp. The melted cheese on top was a great addition to balance out the saltiness from the meats. Lastly the French toast was great. We added strawberries as a topping and the toast was thick and bouncy, not like some other places where it's soggy. This is a restaurant I always come back to, and seeing how busy they are on the daily without relying on pretty aesthetics is a testament on how great their food is. I had a bacon cheddar avocado omelette, which was very good. I had a side of Biscuits and gravy, which were not very good. I would not order those again. And the grits, but grits are grits. I have eaten at another location of Cindi's NY Deli & Restaurant several years ago and I enjoyed the food there. Unfortunately this was not the case at this location. The other location's atmosphere was much brighter and inviting. Here it was much darker inside and seemed to me to need updating. Service was just okay. She was "just doing her job" with no greeting. My egg white omelette was not cooked thoroughly. Seeing the uncooked parts oozing out when I cut into it made me loose my appetite. I left still hungry and not happy. read more

Great classic breakfast! Ordered the 2 egg breakfast with egg whites and extra crispy bacon and it was delicious! They bacon was the perfect crisp and thick cut! The bagel was fresh and their homemade lite Vegtable cream cheese is a must!! The only downfall was the fruit up charge of $3 for 5 cut up pieces of fruit where the cantaloupe was hard and inedible. I have gone to other locations and saw this one close to a meeting I was going to so stopped by. Plenty of free parking. Great service from Vivian as she was pleasant and attentive. The restroom was super clean. I had the two eggs scrambled, hash browns, salt bagel, and coffee. It came pretty quickly. Unfortunately, it was pretty cold which surprised me. The space is a little dim from the wood planked walls but the crowd was lively and mixed, adding to the bustling energy. Right by the entrance, it was inspiring to see plaques won for their food and hospitality and some press clippings that proudly shared the immigrant story behind the owners' success. They have a selection of bagels to choose from and it looked like a few ran out even though it was all early in the morning. Ordered an everything bagel with regular cream cheese. The bagel was yummy but there was way too much cream cheese in between. Restaurant seemed a little bit older, but clean. finally, after several attempts, i found a place aside from txmx where i'd return to eat again. i'm sure there's any number of white table cloth dinner spots where you and a friend can drop a few hundred and walk out feeling only moderately underwhelmed, if not in fact ripped off. but the real challenge here seems to me for the lesser meals of the day like breakfast, lunch or a light evening dinner. the problem is lack of, mexican aside, ethnic diversity, or maybe it's more like "ethnic diversity proficiency". this a new term in foodie jargon, surely, and probably not one that travels far from here. meaning?: it's one thing to try for greek taverna, but quite another to actually bring it off. and if your "taverna" is in a town where maybe 25 people know or care, then who's to say there should have been bell peppers in that village salad. so i was fully prepared to find this "NY Deli" to be as completely off the mark as was ziziki's taverna the day before. In certain ways Cindi was, too, but she compensated by the addition, in an eccentric and typically Texan way of mixing in items that don't belong, atypical non sequiturs that somehow despite things being what they are actually work, at least in that odd way that leaves you thinking... huh. Cindi's NY (jewish as surely, judging by her clientele, that is what it for the most part is) Deli, looks like no manhattan deli i was ever in. These usually are about a small storefront wide, with a glass enclosed cooler displaying the usual chopped liver, tuna salad, herring in various formats, fermented cucumbers and cabbage, with various meats and charcuterie available for making sandwiches, on rye usually and, katz of course aside, nowhere to sit. Cindi's is not really much like a NY deli and much more like a NJ diner, where you can eat pancake or biscuit/gravy breakfast anytime, enjoy soggy spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, and encourage your appetite with pierogis and kosher dills. i simply had to have the Cindi special soup, a major crowd in the bowl combining matzo, rice, spaghetti and kreplach. i also had to check the chopped liver on rye, and finished it all off with a traditional texas country style banana pudding for dessert. so it turns out Cindi is neither texan, new yorker, much less jew, and instead arrived a few decades ago from Viet Nam. As i drove away this last caused me to think that explains why her kreplach look a lot like won ton.... huh. read more

It had been 10 years since we last ate at Cindi's because of a bad experience on our last visit. But time (eventually) heals all, so off we went for a Saturday night dinner. The dinner experience is completely different from breakfast. Breakfast time is super busy with a long wait and crowded parking. Dinner time has ample parking and no wait, so we were seated promptly after entering. The menu has not changed and remains intimidating due to the extensiveness of offerings. I focused on my fave--something with corned beef and ordered the Reuben. I asked for lean and it came with lean meat. The sandwich had a very generous portion of corned beef and was served hot. You put your own sauce on, which is fine. It was a good sandwich but not better than mine at home. The wife went for something homey and ordered the beef stew. She loved it. Meat was not just tender but also juicy. She loved the broth and the corn muffins. That was a home run. The kid had pancakes which were fluffy and she loved the hot chocolate. Our server Gabriela was efficient and could answer all my question about the menu. The ambience is still is NY diner style, which is fine. Did they change the recipe because I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and coleslaw and a tea coleslaw was overly runny had too much dressing on it and it was hard to even eat. The sandwich was good but it could have been a little bit better I'm sure other people would say to take like food in New York but I have been to New York and this is not what it tastes like.
