I stayed at the Sheraton this week and ended up stopping by the restaurant for dinner. I've eaten here before, so I was curious to see if things had changed since my last visit. The atmosphere is pretty much the same as I remember. The music was still playing fairly loud, and the air conditioning was running full blast. I get that it's summer, but at nearly 10 p.m. it felt a little excessive. A slightly warmer temperature and lower volume would have made the space more comfortable. The restaurant serves food until 11 p.m., although the late-night menu is somewhat limited. I was there on my own to watch the Algeria vs. Jordan match, so I grabbed a seat at the bar. Service was solid. The bartender was friendly, took the time to walk me through a few beer options, and I ended up ordering a Seattle Pale Ale, which turned out to be a great choice. Before I ordered food, he also mentioned that the kitchen was running about 15-20 minutes behind, which I appreciated. I went with the crispy chicken sandwich. It took about as long as expected, and overall it was quite good. That said, the real standout for me was the fries. They were perfectly cooked, crispy, and honestly the best part of the meal. If you're staying nearby or just looking for a casual spot to grab a drink and some food, it's worth checking out. read more

This is a nice hangout spot in the Sheraton. It is usually pretty busy and has a good mixture of seating options, from bar to small and large tables to accommodate various group sizes. I had the same waiter the three times I stopped by, and he was excellent. He made a wonderful maple old fashioned, and was quite attentive. I also tried the roasted pepper and sausage flatbread and it was outstanding! I enjoyed every experience there. read more

On Thursday, August 7th at 9:40, my husband and I decided to come down and dine at the Fountain Wine Bar in Seattle. It's a restaurant underneath the Sheraton Grand in downtown Seattle. We had visited here the previous night, but only had drinks. Being that we were spending a week at the hotel, we decided to keep it local and have dinner nearby as we had been sightseeing all day and were exhausted. Upon arriving at the restaurant we walked right in and had a seat at a nearby available table. Mind you, there is no check in available. It's a "seat yourself" type of place and a server will approach you at their earliest. We waited about 20-25 minutes with no acknowledged whatsoever by the servers walking by. Other guests who arrived much later were being served much faster. So my husband decided to just go up to the bar and order the food and drinks himself while I waited at the table. Soon after, a server approached the table and began placing napkins down. She didn't even greet me. She looked up at my husband ordering at the bar and said, "Oh, he went up there to order?" and continued to slap the napkin in front of me and walked away. Not even asking if I needed anything. When I told her that he decided to order at the bar because we had waited for a long time, "she turned away from me, walked to an adjacent table to take their order all while making a shooshing hand gesture at me. Naturally I was offended by this. When I went over to ask for her name, she covered her name badge and said no. I mean, why even wear a name badge if you are going to cover it up anyway? I walked over to the bar tender to where my husband was and asked if he could provide me with her name so that I may formally file a complain against her. The bartender asked me who it was and when I pointed at her he chuckled and sighed and said, with a smile "oh yeah" rolled his eyes and said he could not disclose her name to me. I was shocked by the secrecy of it all. Working for a large company myself, this type of behavior would be extremely unacceptable. My husband approached the server and asked if there was a problem and she became irate, asking for the room number we were staying in, all while covering up her name badge. She dashed out the restaurant to get her manager as we asked her to do so, but before doing so she yelled near the elevators , making sure security was alerted and my husband and I were stopped by security and forced to explain to them what had happened. Fortunately, the security guards gave us the servers name...Tiba (not sure about the spelling) and we decided to go back up to the room and call the hotel to file a former complaint about the incident. Whoever was managing that night didn't really do much over the phone. All she said was "it's been a long night and we all need sleep. Let's all talk in the morning." Again, I was beyond shocked by her response. She promised to follow up in the morning. It's now been four days with no word on the follow up. It's also impossible to get through to anyone when you try and contact the lobby. You have to physically go down if you need to speak with anyone since no one will ever answer the phones. This experience was completely ruined by Tiba and the hotels staff as they did nothing to help resolve this issue with their Elite members. Truly a disappointing experience. Do not dine here. The atmosphere is casual with a mix of chill and peppy energy (depending on the day/evening). I sat by the bar and was quickly greeted by the bartender. I had the angus burger and fries paired with a refreshing pomegranate margarita. Overall solid experience as the bartender was pleasant and attentive. Visited as a part of our pre game before the rave and after our events at Sakura-Con. Due to the Con going on, this place was packed on a Saturday night. We didnt get tended to until about 15-20 minutes in and our food didnt arrive until about 25-30 minutes after ordering. When we were done, the server gave us our bill and we could not get the server to take our payment until about another 10-15 minutes. Overall, we spent a lot of time waiting for assistance vs enjoying our own food and drinks. We decided to stay away from ordering a second round of drinks due to the wait time. This was my least favorite of the 3 bars at the Sheraton. It's also the largest. I never sat at the bar but usually over in the lounge area. I didn't order any cocktails with them, mostly just wine pours. Their selection of wine is fine. BUT expensive... I know downtown hotel bar. The servers are hustling because it's a large area and they definitely are good at keeping track of people and bills which was impressive with our ever expanding and contracting groups of friends. Meh. Go to the Daily Grill (for a more sportsbar atmosphere & cheaper prices) or Loulay for well crafted cocktails and a much more upscale environment. ProTip: At the opposite end of the bar are some work tables with plugs if you need to knock out some work quick quick. read more

Fountain Wine Bar is a big "eh." If you have nothing else to do and need somewhere to sit, Fountain isn't the worst option. The service is slow so I wouldn't recommend heading here if you are looking for specialty cocktails or wines for tasting. I went to a conference right by the Sheraton, and I ended up at Fountain twice in the same long day. It was such a perfectly bland, serviceable hotel bar that I didn't recognize it at night until I was more or less out the door. Not much to report, really. Fountain is a convenient meeting spot if you're staying in or around the Sheraton, and it has a full bar to satisfy your basic drinking needs. It's expensive and mediocre, the kind of place you can find in Sheratons across the world, I'm sure. If you have any mobility or sense of adventure, I'd recommend hitting Yelp for the more interesting bars within walking distance. I came during happy hour with a friend and had an $11.50 Bloody Mary. It was fine. My friend had a gin gimlet that cost about as much and that he didn't enjoy at all. Later that night, I had some decent beer. The bar was packed both times I went, but the crowd was 100% conference attendees, name tags still dangling from lime-green lanyards. I guess there's often a conference to fill the spot with tired out-of-towners, but I wonder if it's just empty half the time. I certainly wouldn't go if I lived in Seattle, or if I were visiting as a tourist. Not that it was bad, because it wasn't, but definitely snoozier than anywhere I like to drink even at home. read more

Would have been 2 star but finally got a bar seat and the fun bartender made a great vanilla vodka martini. Too expensive and not enough bar seating which a single wants. Lots of lounge seating. $15 popcorn shrimp was way too expensive for puny amount served. Just arrived around 10 and Loulay bar in Sheraton already closed. I had a "Washington Apple" cocktail with rye, apple and vanilla liqueur and it was the most disgusting drink I've ever had. I couldn't even finish it quickly. It turned my stomach. This place was alright. I tried the vanilla martini and cheese board per the other reviews. The martini was a bit too sweet for me, but was strong. The cheese board was very mediocre. They didn't say what cheeses they were, but from taste, it tasted like a decent white cheddar and a rather bland farmers cheese. The toast it came with was too greasy. Make your toast with a brush of oil, don't douse it :( One thing I did like was that you can order 2 oz pours of some of the wines, which is cool if you have a low tolerance or just want to be able to try a few different options. read more

The Fountain Wine Bar and Lounge is located inside the Sheraton hotel and is one of the best hotel bars I have ever been to, as far as aesthetics and selection of wines, and beer. It can be easily accessed from the street, but is a great amenity for hotel guest. Service in the wine bar, not so great and has a major impact on the star allotment for this review. The servers are understaffed and run around like chickens with their heads cut off. I felt poorly for them actually and often went to the bar to get our table's wine. Although, even though I felt I was helping them out, I was snapped at my one of the servers who told me, "I'll be over to your table in a few minutes if you could just be patient". Huh???? My poor service actually started before I arrived at the hotel and the bar. I called to schedule an area in the Fountain Wine Bar to have a hospitality soiree for some of my customers. It took 2 weeks to get a call back, after I called several people asking about it. I opted for the Daily Grill which was a better selection anyway. The seating is plentiful, although it does get awfully crowded during happy hour as well as late night. The views of the street are amazing so if you are into people watching, this can get pretty fun- especially the later it gets. Great location, and in this instance, location weighs heavily for this bar. If located outside of the hotel, there is no way I would hang around for the poor service. read more

Its a little on the expensive side, but it was close to work and transit for my friend and I. I can't say I was impressed with the service, but the drinks I had were strong and that made me justify the prices a little. My friend had the mac and cheese as well and she said it was pretty good. My friend and I visited this place during ECCC in hopes to get a few easy food items. We were some of the first customers there chatting before they opened. Not only did it take them 30 minutes to get to our table after opening but they served every other table before us. The waitress did not check up on us at all and we waited a total of 2 hours to receive our food and check (which took 15 minutes to ring out). They also forgot our salad, the easiest item on the menu, and gave us a $15 cocktail that barely had any alcohol. We missed the entire panel we planned to go to and although we don't usually mind slow service this was the worst we have ever had. Another server checked up on us 3 times in the 10 minutes she was working when our original server had no communication whatsoever. She asked us to come back but we definitely won't be due to the rudeness and forgetfulness of our waitress which we still remained polite towards. For such a 'fancy' restaurant we had a very poor experience and its not worth the overpriced, mediocre food and very poor service. read more

Downtown restaurants can be loud and busy on the weekends... this place is one of my best kept secrets when you need to grab a drink or snack during the peak hours and don't want deal with the hassle of waiting for a table. Fountain Wine Bar and Lounge is a hotel lobby bar, sitting on the north end of the Sheraton hotel block. The kitchen is the same as the Daily Grill, but the bar is separate so ordering drinks is fairly easy. There are many seating options... at the bar, in low-slung chairs surrounding round tables, booth style tables and chairs, or a large board-meeting style table. There are computers at kiosks for the guests of the hotel, so don't come here looking for a romantic atmosphere. They allow kids, and it's very accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. The food is fairly typical bar appetizers, with sliders, sweet potato fries and fish tacos. The loaded mac and cheese with bacon and mushrooms is probably the heartiest item on the menu. Remember this place on weekends or before a show when you're short on time; you won't regret it! read more

This is the bar in the lobby of the Sheraton. It's a block from the convention center so it's really convenient to meet colleagues. However, the prices are really expensive so it your work's not paying for it then I would skip. Bar bites range from $12-$20. Cheapest glass of wine is $10 which I tried, a Merlot from Washington, just okay. I did try the pear martini the next day which was quite good! read more

However, the last thing I want at the end of a tiring day, staying in a pretty expensive room is a server refusing to switch out fries with salad as a side on an overpriced burger because 'the restaurant doesnt allow it' - disappointing.
