I visited Firn on a Saturday with my girlfriends. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. My friend made a reservation by phone for a table at the rooftop bar. When we arrived, we were greeted by the host and given badges to access the rooftop. I believe reservations are typically made through OpenTable. Customer Service: I asked the host if we could potentially sit outside, but I was told the outdoor seating was not open because it might rain. This was a bit confusing since there were already people seated outside. Our server later explained that if we chose to sit outside and it started raining, we would lose our indoor table. She recommended that we keep our table and simply visit the outdoor area for photos or to hang out for a while. Shortly afterward, the host came back to our table and asked if we would like to move outside. It seemed there was a lack of communication between the host and the server. My 40th birthday party was thrown here and it initially started off with some hiccups based on what the coordinators had discussed. But they quickly figured it out and got everything flowing. The venue itself is exactly my style with plants flowing throughout the room and a gorgeous view from the rooftop with lots of sitting/tables. Our waitress was amazing and bounced around to everyone with drinks and shots in rotation. Don't know if it was just an off night, but the service was terrible. It was fairly empty for a Saturday night, but somehow we still weren't helped for a while. A party was seated after ours and helped before we were even acknowledged. Even when someone came by, the waiter ignored me completely and instead just looked at my partner the whole time when asking what we wanted to order. No one ever came over after our drinks were delivered so we just decided to not get another drink and just be done with the evening. This is probably the best rooftop bar in Seattle in terms of greenery and sustainability! You do need a reservation secured and it's done thru OpenTable. I visited the hotel because a friend of mine was in town and was staying at Populus and she insisted we check out Firn. After only being open for like four days, there was a HEFTY line and the place we packed. We got in quickly due to her having a reservation (yes, they take rezzies!) and we were able to order quickly from a sweet bartender. The place itself is gorgeous. Decorated beautiful and the atmosphere is fun and lively and SCREAMING summer. We started by sitting indoors at the bar and got to move to the rooftop space eventually and sunset is THE time to be out there. It's still warm, but the sun isn't blaring in your eyes, and you're getting a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline against the sunset. So gorgeous! You won't catch a lot of water views here, but how many skyrises do you really see in PI that are gonna boast water views..... Not many (if any?). So honestly, this view is STELLAR. I tried an assortment of cocktails and was wowed by them all. The Seatini was a fun and fruity option with a pretty stamped ice block. Loved the hibiscus flavor in it. I think my personal favorite though was the Seattle Freeze, a blended boozy coffee drink that's essentially a play on an espresso martini but boy is it strong. I had literally 2-3 passersby say "watch out, those sneak up on you," LOL and they do! They also have light bites here (very limited menu) but it all sounds delicious. The menu has some creative cocktails, although I stuck with my usuals - a Manhattan and a Martinez served in nice glassware. They have shaved ice cocktails that seem a little pricey but then I saw the ice shaver which is all manual! Food menu is limited but the charcuterie board we ordered was quite good. The staff here was professional and on point, with a good balance of being friendly but also focused on delivering service to the everyone. We booked a reservation over a week prior, but this really wasn't needed as the lounge was only about halfway full when we arrived. As we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted and seated quickly and given the choice between indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered a round of cocktails, one tequila based that was extremely tasty and two gin based that were overly sweet and had a bit of an artificial taste. Unfortunately we could not make it through the gin-based craft cocktails and had to order standard cocktails instead. We also ordered the crab dip which was a decent size for sharing and pretty tasty. Our server was very friendly and attentive throughout our time there. Firn has a warm and cozy vibe indoors and is definitely cute for a date night. The rooftop unfortunately does not have fire pits or heaters but has a nice view of the space needle. I managed to book a 4pm seating through OpenTable which was a relief seeing how many people were already queuing up to snag any available seats. The rooftop bar is on the 6th floor of the Populous hotel and is accessible via elevators. The design of the bar blends in foliage, wood, and modern elements. The space is absolutely beautiful and has a direct view of the waterfront and Seattle skyline. Bar seating is spacious and can easily accommodate large parties. I especially love the skylights over the bar and the foliage hanging from the ceiling. There are numerous lounge areas with comfortable sofas and arm chairs. The outdoor area also has the sofas, padded chairs, and arm chairs. This area does not have any shade and I was very much prepared to top off my tan. The menu focuses on craft cocktails and a few appetizers. The names were very creative and the list of ingredients for each drink was intriguing. I tried the Get Schwifty, Old-Fashioned Love Song, Ghost Pilot, and Casual Crush. The Get Schwifty indicated the drink serves 2 and they were not lying. It was a very sweet vodka based cocktail which was served in a decanter and was poured table side over shaved ice. I learned to ask for more shaved ice to help lower the sweetness level. The Old-Fashioned Love is an excellent mix of bourbon, banana, and chocolate bitters. My perfect sipping cocktail while sitting on a rooftop patio. The Ghost Pilot is a mix of overproofed rum, apple brandy, and absinthe and was very powerful. The drink had a nice hint of vanilla and grapefruit. Finally, the Casual Crush is a mezcal based drink with noticeable spice. It was a good final cocktail to cap my visit. Our server always checked in and made sure our water glasses were filled. Final verdict, this rooftop bar will now be on my list of go to places for drinks. I am curious how the rooftop setup will be during the rainy season. The nice cushioned seats, perfect for a date. Everyone seemed to be dressed for the atmosphere. Although I will say, there was a mariners game this night so actually a decent amount of people having casual pregame drinks in their Jersey's. Food - we didn't get a chance to sample the food since we were just here for drinks. We tried the green acres and the Manhattan Noir. The Manhattan was very heavy on the vermouth so wasn't a huge fan, it was strong, so thats a plus. The green acres was on the sweeter side but I liked the green tea they added. Our drinks (the Get Schwifty shaved shareable) took a long time to arrive because an ingredient had to be brought up from downstairs. My drink glassware also had a chip on the rim. Our food (mini sliders) was also delayed. People who ordered after us were served well before we were, apparently for the same reason. Both the drinks and food fell short of expectations. I won't be rushing to come back, but if I do, I'll make sure to request indoor seating. read more

It's located on the top of a nice hotel and is well equipped with lots or great places to sit inside and outside and a buzzy after work crowd. Servers are friendly and fast and there is a great drink selection. I didn't try the limited food menu but it indicates this is more of a bar to go to before or after dinner. There was a Seahawks game going on at Lumen field when I visited and so I could see fireworks from the bar which was super fun to experience. They also had a DJ that was playing tunes that elevated the overall atmosphere. The ambiance was incredible, stunning truly, I loved the lush greenery and beautiful modern aesthetics. Come for the vibes. Because the building is located in Pioneer Square and it's not on top of a super high-rise, the view is different from other Seattle rooftop bars like Fog Room or The Nest. It's super relaxed. There generally isn't a dress code so you can come by with friends and hang out. The cocktails are great! But be ready to pay $20-30 for one drink. They're not cheap, but that's standard with any Seattle rooftop establishment. Service is generally good. Servers are pretty attentive, given how many tables they're responsible for. A con: The charcuterie "board" needs some serious work. It's served on a plate with some meats and a few cheeses. They put maybe four or five crackers on the plate with some olives and gherkins. For how much it costs, it needs a facelift. This is not charcuterie. It's a small Lunchable on a dinner plate. Tbh I think the meats/cheeses come from Costco lol, even the crackers. Wanted to check out the new rooftop bar in town. I think I expected higher floor for the view of the ocean. The downtown city view was nice if you are seated on the side where you can get a view of it. The cocktails were the highlight. The drinks were strong, delicious, and on point beautiful cocktails. The ice for the cocktail was beautifully clear in pretty fancy glasses. I gave a 3 stars due to the difference in my expectation for the service and the food. We ordered our drinks and food right away when we got seated but it took a very long time to get them. We ordered the dungeness crab dip however our orders were all messed up. We got 2 other items we didn't order. One, we recognized that it wasn't our order so we told them. The second one (potted salmon), we were not certain so we had a taste but it wasn't what we expected. Thankfully, they comp'ed us on that dish. It still took a long time for them to get us what we ordered. I guess the operation of the place is still being worked out? All the other tables got their drink and food while we waited (even though others got seated and even ordered after us). For the food, they were ok and both needed more bread chips. It wasn't enough for the dip so we asked for more. The crab dip tasted mostly of cream and I could barely taste the crab. The salmon was a strong smoked salmon taste. To get to the rooftop, once you enter the hotel, there is no sign. You need to ask the front desk to let you on the elevator that gets you to the rooftop. When you get off the floor, there is a glass door to the left and another hallway to the right. You have to go right along the hallway. Others in my elevator thought the glass door on left went to the restroom to drop by before getting seated. But that glass door isn't to the bathroom. Overall, it was a nice night out on a rooftop and I am thankful that there is another one in seattle with good drinks. I may return when I am in Pioneer square neighborhood (such as the first Thursday art walk) for just the drinks. read more
