This was my first time at deadline and i will be coming back! As soon as we walked in, we were met with a Kenny G saxophone + bridgerton-esque playlist which I personally enjoyed nodding my head to instrumentals of my favorite songs. The front of the bar is standard tables with the back of the bar having cute seating areas. I got the gingerbread expresso martini which was really yummy! Our drinks did take a while to get to us despite sitting right at the bar but we did have a table of 7 so understood. We got our appetizers before our drinks: Brussel sprouts (SO YUMMY), oysters, and truffle fries (towered in parm!). These went down super quick. I then ordered the pork arepa for my entree and wow...not what i was expecting but will never regret! One of my favorite dishes I've had in a while that I'll keep thinking about. Walked in around 8:30 after a Jazz night event in Pioneer Square and was quickly seated, however informed that it would be a wait to get our order as they were not prepared for the busy Tuesday night. The service was good considering they were so busy. We had a round of drinks and 2/4 were great and the other 2 were too sweet. Cool bar with an interesting concept. Dead Line is one of the many hip places in Pioneer Square. It gets its name from the history of Yesler Way. Back in the day it was known as the line between Seattle's poor and wealthy areas. The bar features a generous happy hour for cocktails, along with small bites and plates. Best part about it is there's opportunities to save money every time coming. It's got an everyday happy hour. This is between 3 and 6, weekdays and weekends. Good prices after including it. It's about $11 for most cocktails, but of course that's at regular. Got us a couple including the Flora & Fauna. This is made with Cachaca, guava syrup, lime peel, orange, rose water, and soda water. It's about $7 for snacks. We got Spiced Nuts and shared this. Basic. This of course had a good spiciness. Has limited vegetarian friendly choices. The Crispy Potato Tacos are good, but they're $17 and small for tacos. Good bar in a pretty busy area. It's located on 1st Avenue close to Yesler Way, which has quite a history as mentioned. They have a happy hour, and while the food menu is pretty expensive, there's a few things for vegans and vegetarians. read more

A true hidden gem in Pioneer Square. I was walking around Pioneer Square before a Mariner's game and stumbled upon Deadline. Once you enter you feel transported into a beautiful elegant space. The staff was friendly and made sure we had what we needed. For drinks, we got Chatty Kathy, Tarragon Negroni, and a Paloma. All the drinks were delicious and made to perfection. For food, we got the Charcuterie board and the Garlic Parmesan Fries. The Charcuterie board was perfectly curated. I loved the mini pickles and pickled peppers that accompanied the meats and cheeses. I think the star of the show was the Garlic Parmesan Fries. They were so crispy and covered the garlic parmesan perfection. I still think about these Garlic Parmesan Fries to this day. The drinks were fantastic and the parm fries were delicious. The service was also 5 stars excellent. We enjoyed the vibe here as well, with a kind of chill vibe after the pre-game Mariners rush. The bar is really cool to look at and the bar tenders were friendly and personable and kept checking in with us and others regularly. The only thing we didn't absolutely love was the empanadas, but given my partner is from Spain, we have a little bit higher expectation. It's not that they weren't good, but they didn't really seem like empanadas, or rather more like if you made empanadas with croissant dough instead. Come for the cocktails, stay for the food! This place has such an attractive vibe, making it easy to keep stacking up cocktails while chatting away. It's cozy and fancy at the same time, inviting you to stay for as long as you want. Their drinks are amazing. I particularly liked their Flora & Fauna, and also tried their non-alcoholic options and loved those too. The drinks are incredibly aesthetic and tasty. You can see and taste that each one is crafted with care. But most surprising was how good the food was! Especially, the bread and butter. All my friends laughed at me when I raved about the bread and butter. It's listed under the "bar snacks" section of their online menu, but let me tell you, this is no mere bar snack. It is legitimately one of the best bread + butter combos I have ever had, and I say that with no exaggeration. The toast is a THICK wedge, perfectly toasted and crispy, but not too dense as to tire out your jaw. The butter is not some simple yellow grocery store butter. It's their own custom blend that contains various herbs and spices, and comes out looking like the most deluxe butter you've ever seen. I am of the firm belief that just because something looks fancy, doesn't mean it actually tastes better, but this is one of those cases where the taste is even better than the looks! The first time we came here we had to order a second serving because we couldn't get enough! All of the other sharables and entrees were great as well. This place can really accommodate every range of appetite. Whether you're eating a casual afternoon snack or a full on dinner, you'll be able to find something. If you're lost, just ask your server. All of the servers we've had have been super nice, funny, and more than glad to help us figure out what we want. Since our first time, we've been trying to rotate through all of our friends to take them here. Dead Line has seriously got it all. Disclaimer: This was more of a 1-star experience. Giving extra stars because the drinks were yummy, and I'm taking others' word for it that the food is great--unfortunately we never got ours. The decor and ambience was also really nice. I hate to even dock stars when this was an uncharacteristically busy night, but it was truly a terrible experience (and we were so bummed because it looked/sounded SO good). With rough time stamps, our night at Dead Line is below: 5:35PM: We walked up and were told it would be a 25 minute wait. It was incredibly busy because of the Hozier concert at T-Mobile so we expected it to be a bit longer. The owner said they don't have a "list system" to manage and just remember faces to know who is up next. 6:15PM: We were told just a few more minutes. Someone who had given up waiting earlier walked by again, recognized us, and told us to leave them a bad review. I said *of course* I would not do that because it's not their fault and we were ok waiting a bit longer. Around this time, 2 people had also gotten up from outside the patio leaving 2 seats open. The space was never offered to us, and we assumed they didn't have servers for these seats anymore. 6:40PM: We were told a few more minutes again, and then we were asked if we'd like the 2 seats outside that were empty. Almost 30 minutes after it was vacated. At that point, we'd been waiting so long, and I told the owner that if it was actually going to be a few more minutes then I'd like to be inside. The owner, who was generally very nice, told us that there were folks who had "already paid and were drinking ice water for 40 minutes", making wait times impossible to predict. I have been to many restaurants and been asked if I'm ready to go after paying because there are people waiting, so I asked the owner if he ever mentions a time limit to diners. He said it was an impossible conversation to have, and he jokingly asked if I would like to tell them. While I understand it can sometimes be awkward, it's incredibly normal to be gently asked to give up the table. I tried to respectfully let the owner know I thought it would be appropriate for him to tell them this, and within a few minutes, he came back and told me they were leaving. 6:45: We finally sat down inside, and understandably, service was slow. We weren't offered water for about 15 minutes (around 7:00) until we ordered our drinks and food--we had our orders ready because we were in a bit of a rush at this point. All we ordered was 2 drinks, bread & butter, & calamari because we knew we didn't have time to wait for entrees. We received our drinks which were delicious. 7:20: We received the bread and butter and 1 additional drink. The bread & butter was unique but really tasty. It was a sort of thick grilled bread with a smoky-seasoned butter. 7:30: After seeing about 5 orders of calamari go out, I asked where our calamari was. We were told by one of the servers, "It looks like the order didn't go through, so we can refire it or take it off the bill." At this point, we were pretty annoyed. We nicely told her to just take it off the bill and that we had to go. She said she discounted the bill, but in total with tax and tip, we paid over $50 for drinks, bread & butter, and waiting for 2 hours to never receive our food. While I understand it was busy, and we tried our absolute best to be gracious (hence my 3 stars instead of 1), this was beyond frustrating and disorganized. I truly tried to be understanding throughout the process, but arghhhhh. read more

I didn't have a good experience at this place, what-soever. There's a sign that's posted in front of the lounge that reads: "happy hour is from 3-6 daily." We asked about the happy hour and if there was a different menu dedicated for it all together upon coming inside. The girl and the guy behind the bar talked about it and told us that it was 20% off the entire menu. When we got the bill, the 20% was not applied. Upon getting home and looking at their website, it does look like there is a happy hour exclusive menu that we were not told about. So why tell people that the happy hour is 20% off the entire menu selection when it's not? It seems a bit odd to me. It's not about the extra $5.28 for me. It's more about, why go back on what you tell the customer. Because I still paid and tipped. So if you do come here, just be aware that the happy hour isn't daily and it's not what they say it is. I was in the mood for steak and was a bit sad they didn't have just a plain steak option on their menu. But, their bartender highly recommended the hangar steak arepa and after some deliberation, that's what i went with along with the house pickles. Absolutely delicious, unlike anything i've had before-- it truly was a stunningly elevated take on an arepa with such good flavor! Came here for a company event. We rented out the 2nd floor and we had a dedicated server/bartender. The service was great and the venue (2nd floor) was perfect for about 15 people. There was a minimum to rent out the space (I believe it was $1k) for 2 hours which I thought was reasonable. Surprisingly though, the hard liquor list was quite limited (for a "cocktail bar"). Prices were on the high side but they were not outrageous or anything. Food was decent although, we only got to try the appetizers. What can one say about this gem? The food is amazing, the staff is amazing and Chef Simon, well, forget about it. My recommendation is the Chef's table where you are treated to items crafted right in front of you.
