I rented from a private landlord here for a little over three years. Pros: - Great location! Tyson's I and II are close by, as well The Boro shopping center - Safe neighbourhood - Management is very responsive and polite. Every time I have interacted with Ms. Brenda she has been nice and professional. - Since these are condos, every unit is a bit different. I enjoyed the layout of my particular unit, especially since I was on the top floor. - Great prices. I paid a little over $1500/month for a one bedroom. I believe other units in the neighbourhood had comparable rent rates. - Part of my rent covered the condo fee so I had to pay the condo fee myself. As such, I'd like to point out that condo fee actually *decreased twice*! Not by a whole lot but still every little bit counts. Cons: - The walls and floors are not the thinnest, but also not the thickest. I lived on a top floor, end unit and *still* had noise issues. I believe the buildings are made out of mostly wood which does not prevent sound or motion transfer. I knew when my neighbours were home because I could feel and hear the front door slam or cabinet doors closing. I even heard the neighbour below me sneeze! For my sanity, I played white noise which helped a lot. - Not a whole lot of amenities Overall I would recommend Fountains at McLean as a renter. If you're sensitive to noise definitely get a white noise machine and a top floor unit! read more

I'm a resident owner at FAM. The community is awesome, the negative reviews here seem to be from renters who have a bad experience with their property management company. The renters experience with a third party company shouldn't be a reflection on this great condominium complex. The newly elected HOA leadership is terrific and overseeing many improvements to the community. Brenda and Trudy at the office are always responsive and communicative. Repairs are underway for things like external staircases, roofing repairs, etc., which can be noisy, but there's always a lot of forewarning. Amenities are: pool (awesome in the summer), decent little gym, sauna, game room in the HOA building with rentable party space, lots of green space for pets, doggie bag stations, well-lit at night, close proximity to Harris Teeter, community is next to bus stops on Jones Branch that go straight to metro. For folks who work at Freddie Mac, this is the dream commute -- takes about 15 seconds to walk to work. Overall, a great community. People are friendly, and HOA is professional. read more

I used to live in this condo community but had to move out when I got married. I now live in Great Falls so no big complaint there : ) I love, love, love how convenient this community is. It is across the street from the Tysons Westpart Transit station which is a 7 min bus ride to W. Falls Church Metro. I used to work in D.C and this place was awesome in terms of easing my communte into the city. The club house is awesome and the pool is really sweet too. The gym equipment could use an upgrade but it is generally pretty quiet as not that many people use it. The people who live here a generally very nice and very friendly. What's even cooler now is that they have a Harris Teeter literally 2 seconds away. My husband and I are thinking about buying an investment property here as the value of these condos will be great once the Metro comes to Tysons. read more

After 4 years, I had to get out of here. I found the area boring and I lived underneath an annoying douchebag of a neighbor. Yeah, I know the Metro will make this area much better, but right now it sucks and I couldn't take it anymore. PROS: it's located right off the Toll Road and is convenient to all the major highways and routes. The new Harry Teats next door was a godsend -- especially during the blizzards earlier this year. The pool and exercise room are nice. Finally, the management office is a polling place -- which is great on Election Day. CONS: It's in Tyson's. There's NOTHING to walk to in this place like in Arlington. The construction has made bad traffic even worse. The buildings, though only 20-25 years old are falling apart. Whomever designed these places was an idiot --- many of the parking spaces are tiny, which makes getting in and out of your car an interesting experience to say the least. Also, the place constantly floods and leaks when it rains due to poor drainage. There are leaks in some of the walls which is causing long-term water damage. The units aren't exactly soundproof -- you can hear people walking/running in the passageways above you. Would I have made more money if I kept my condo for a couple of more years? Eh...maybe. But I have the feeling I would have had to sink a lot more into it for upkeep. As it was, I was lucky to be able to sell it for a nominal loss -- not a complete loss. Good riddance. read more

I rented from an owner here and, as with most places rented by individual owners, a lot of your experience is directly related to the quality of your landlord. The community is close to everything --- Metro bus, Dulles Toll Road, Beltway. The fountains are pretty and the pool generally isn't all kidded up. The condo's are old and there are problems, particularly with the plumbing and the roof. If you're in a mid-rise, expect your water to be turned off most every day so that someone in the building can have repairs performed. I think they finally got the roofing fixed but there were many ceiling leaks before they did. The office staff is arrogant and they act like anything you ask is a huge inconvenience for them, especially if you're a renter and not an owner. Parking also fills up quickly on nights and weekends, especially since occupants have to pay for their space. Those that don't will hog the visitor spaces. read more

I'm reviewing the condo side of the community. I have no idea about the apartment side. Basically there are about 300 unit in each complex. The pure rental side is called "Post Tysons Corner" and the condo side (where owners can buy) is called the Fountains at Mclean. I have had a great experience here. Started off renting here and then I decided to purchase. Could not be more happy with my investment. The reason for 4 stars as opposed to 5 is because I think the management can spend a bit more money on upgrading our amenities. Since the Harris Teeter opened next door this location has gotten even better. Across the street at Tysons Westpark I take the bus to the West Falls Church metro station and it only takes 7 minutes in rush hour because of the special bus lane. I like all the greenery in this condo community and of course the fountains! read more

The most fabulous staff at The Fountains, willing to help, answer any questions, going out of their way for you. The location speaks for itself, the heart of Tysons, easy access to all surrounding communities, minutes to DC. The unit is simple but ample, roomy balcony with large enclosed outside closet. Units have washer/dryer, full small kitchens, good size walk in closet, main living area and bedrooms good size. Building outside area kept clean, lovely little courtyards throughout the property -each building having one. Parking is relatively easy compared to other places and the pricing for these units in this location is fantastic. read more

I have only lived here since August, and I truly did not want to write a review yet since I have not been a resident for that long. However, I felt it was necessary. I am mostly put off by property management at Fountains at McLean. I have never in my life experienced such horrendous, rude, and degrading customer service. The management is so condescending when you ask practical questions such as "would you be able to put signs on the doors to the community for (USPS, FedEx) deliverymen to pick up keys from the office when they deliver packages so that us residents do not have to go to the post office every time a package is sent to us?" When I came up with this simple, very easy solution, I was literally scoffed at and told how ridiculous of an idea it was, because it would "ruin the look of the community". I then said "but I see paper signs throughout Fountains everywhere advertising the next fire drill (which just also happens to be on a Saturday from 9AM-5PM) and whenever the water is turned off (which was almost once a week for the first couple months living here)". About a month ago, we were also told that our elevator would not work for about six weeks or more. Without this elevator, I am able to get some great exercise (four flights of stairs, yay cardio!), but seriously, when you're carrying six bags of groceries and ten Christmas presents, and the three packages you had to pick up at the post office because the packages aren't delivered to your door, it's not so great!! I feel bad having to give this place only 1 star, because I love how convenient it is to everything. Soon it will be even more convenient because of the addition of the new silver line and metro stops nearby! Also, I can walk to Tyson's Galleria and Tyson's Bikram Yoga, which I absolutely love. Fountains is set up motel style meaning that all the walkways are outdoors and not enclosed. The yielding that make up this set of condos are all this way, and each building was built with a courtyard in the center in which there is a fountain hence - fountains! While these are all condos, many of them are rented out and managed by the same front office. The management team is located in the same building as other amenities. This building is much older than many of the others in the area and hasn't been kept up or maintained as needed. It does have its perks: 1. Rent is much less expensive than other buildings in the area. 2. You are now close to a metro (though it takes forever to get into the city with it). 3. Parking is relatively easy here without a parking pass. 4. It has amenities including a pool, small gym, sauna, and a few table games. 5. The Harris teeter is less than a block away and is open 24 hours a day! 3am frozen pizza? Don't mind if I do! There are also many cons, which arguably outweigh the perks: 1. The main building may or may not have structural damage. The floors have been held up by structural support beams for over a year. And the floors and ceilings are now sectioned of a ND appear to be caving in. 2. The main building has seen some kind of construction for over a year. The signs for this are up, elevators are closed, and portions of the building are sectioned off, but I've never seen anyone actually at work.... 3. Due to this construction, one of the main elevators was closed for a year. This was incredible inconvenient. 4. Now that the elevator is reopened, portions of the walkways connecting the elevators to the apartments are sectioned off for more construction... Rendering this newly reopened elevator practically useless.. 5. Management is super unfriendly. Don't expect them to do anything for you... Which brings me to my next point. 6. Delivered packages are frequently stolen or undelivered. Though there is a main concierge, they will not accept packages. Additionally they have not found a way to ensure that all package delivery personnel can easily access the inside of the building to deliver packages. read more

This place is fantastic! If you are looking for a high rise type place, this is not for you, it is a garden type setup. But that is not a bad thing, not at all. I love this type of set up, so do your homework ahead of time before you make a judgement. As for the staff, Brenda is absolutely accommodating and she drove her car over and helped me get a jump on my car today when it would not start. I moved in on Jan 1, and the place was great letting me move in on a holiday. They padded the elevators and posted notes to the resident letting them know that I was moving in and using the elevator. So far the maintenance staff is very friendly and from what I can see is making sure the area is safe with the first snow of 2018. 6 stars!!! If I could give it 6 stars. read more

To start, the community itself is great. Very friendly residents, well-kept landscaping and feels very safe. The maintenance staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. We've have some leak problems with our condo, which happens, and they were very attentive with fixing the issues. The office staff is another story. They are AWFUL. I had so much trouble getting a pool pass from them over the summer due to having my name changed when getting married. It was RIDICULOUS! But I let that slide, and figured one issue wasn't worth a bad review. However, today my husband asked to use their fax machine and they were so rude to him, telling him there's a kinkos close to here. (They tend to laugh at you when you ask questions they consider dumb). Normally, I may not mind the rudeness but the fax question was a medical emergency - a fax that had to be sent to his doctor after being in the hospital all day yesterday. They are heartless and rude. And as someone who has worked in customer service, I can honestly say that those women are the people who give customer service a bad name. I don't know if they don't take us seriously because we are young (mid 20's) but we are owners so we should be equal to everyone else... read more

I have lived here since 2009. Its a great place for working professionals and super convenient. If you hate traffic, its a great place to live. Commuting from here seems like you are always going against traffic. Its a very quiet neighborhood for a condo association. Its mainly made up of working professionals. So there aren't any crazy shenanigans during the summer to worry with. I moved in knowing that the metro project was beginning, so all the construction that folks complain about was to be expected so it didn't really bother me. Now, many of the projects have been completed so there are more convenient travel options. There is a new ramp to the 495 HOT lanes right down the street, which is super convenient if the beltway is backup. Also, the Harris Teeter is a 60 second walk away, which makes it very convenient for just about anything. If you can't find it at Harris Teeter, a brand new Wal-Mart opened 1/2 mile away by the new Tysons West metro station. One of the best ammenities - ELECTRICITY. It never goes out. Remember the Derecho in 2012? The electric lines in Tysons are all underground. My wife and I decided to venture out for something to eat after the Derecho, and quickly found out that everything outside of the Tysons power grid was like a 3rd world country. After 2 hours driving around Falls Church, Merrifield, and Vienna, we ended up back at the McDonald's in Tysons Corner. read more

Live with my significant other here. We are in a 1 bedroom and we both have cars. We've found parking spots literally every night since we have moved in last February. A family with a newborn lives bordering us and we have not had any noise issues. Management has been very friendly to us and the homeowners seem very passionate about taking charge of their units and common areas. It sounds like in previous years they had a bad management company, which was inevitably replaced. Real estate analysts project Tysons to be the next Clarendon. These units should appreciate more than other properties in Nova/Tysons as they are the only units directly walkable to the mall. read more

I have owned a condo here for two years. I love it. It comes with an amazing array of amenities and services. My condo is a little on the small side, but it has room for everything comfortably and it comes with a large storage unit which is fantastic. It keeps my home uncluttered but I have access to a lot more of my stuff. The pool is big and in a very pretty setting. It has tennis courts, a very nice party room, even a free book exchange. I use the gym regularly. The equipment is great and saves me the cost and hassle of going to a gym. The location is incredible. It is less than two miles to Mark Center. My commute is like 5 minutes. Who can say that in the DC area? It is close to everything and the public transportation is fantastic. I love having front desk service. It makes life so much easier and the building extremely safe. The common areas have beautiful decor. This is home. read more

I currently live at the Fountains. It SUCKS!! Management is horrible, and actually mean to not only the renters but the owners as well. The president of the HOA is an arrogant tool and he does NOT support the people he represents as HOA President. The water is turn off for 2-5 hours almost every day. A building is actually sinking on property. They have signs up that say they are fixing the lobbies of the buildings(up for 3 years without any work being done) while the ceiling and walls rot from standing water after it rains. The visitor parking is taking up by owners with extra cars (ie, the HOA President). The pool is nice and the fitness center is open 24/7. The property manager, who doesn't live on site, had a visitor towed from her work parking spot, on a day that she wasn't even working. I have been here for 1 yrea and they have still failed to progress finishing renovations that were left half-completed. It's now June and I will be without air conditioning for 1+ months because they have taken the AC offline to do roof repairs...but no one seems to be working in that project either. My husband and I moved in thinking it would be ok. We like he location it was in between both our jobs. Boy were we wrong. First off our landlord was to say te least completely absent. When we had problems and needed his authorization we would contact him with no response. It took a year and half to get our cable/internet problem solved. The wiring in building is so bad they had to rewire a few units. Then we found mold in our unit.....it was bad enough that the entrance to our building had mold in the lobby area bu in our unit. It was coming from the wall in the kitchen and it was on the balcony. Thanks to he maintenance people they took care of that no thanks to the people in the office. The office staff they are the rudest people. Even if you just had a question they treated everyone rudely. Then we went to use the clubhouse and found to our surprise they had started to lock down the common room area that we were told could be used by residents. No notice sent about that. If you are thinking of moving here think again and find some place else. MOLD, RUDE MANAGEMENT, ELEVATORS IN AND OUT, FIRE ALARM GOING OFF FOR NO REASON, NOT ENOUGH PARKING EVER. People park several vehicles in the garage and never move them when you bring it to management they do nothing. And there isnt enough parking outside either. Find another place to live you may have pay a little more but check out the Post of Tyson Corner and Lillian Court and new highrises they have just built. read more
