I truly love breweries and this is a great one! I've been to hundreds of breweries all across the USA and New Jersey has some of the best ones. I've been wanting to come here for a while now but didn't get the chance to until last week. It's in a great location and the brewery itself is open and vibey as can be. We got there about an hour before closing so we didn't end up getting to listen to the music that was playing as they were packing up as we came. I hope we get there earlier next time as we love listening to live music as we sip excellent beers. The beers were spectacular. I had the Local IPA and my gf had the Sour City: POG. The server was very welcoming and friendly. There was probably 8-10 people there when we came and everyone was happy, smiling, and enjoying themselves and their beers. Time for 5 stars! I always have a great time at Four city. Great staff, including the owners who are usually present and willing to chat with you while enjoying drinks. No food here but they gladly welcome you to bring outside food which I've seen people carry in as well as literally have delivered. There is often food trucks parked outside ready to serve up some good food too. The best are the events here which happen regularly every month. I've done trivia which is fun (except when people form a team of like 10 or more for a huge advantage), or even better when it's Reggae Night. It's great listening to live tunes with craft beer. The menu changes frequently which is good and bad, good because trying new things is cool, but bad because I lose favorites. #BringbackOatCreamMan. #BringbackForgetastoutit Stop in for a few or take some to go. I spotted the sign for Four City Brewery Co. from the train and made a note to myself to check it out. I'm so glad I did because we stopped here on a Sunday after dropping off our oldest kid at camp, and was so pleasantly surprised to find a large, airy, beautiful space with an amazing variety of beers for pretty much every beer aficionado out there. Our two kids played retro video games on the small arcade cabinet and enjoyed the visit maybe more than the grownups. Granted, it wasn't crowded, so it might be different at other times. The artwork in the walls was such a superb touch and really made it feel like a local resource The bartender was so great to talk to and exhibited a solid understanding of the available brews on tap. Unfortunately, due to New Jersey's wrong-headed and protectionist prohibition on breweries serving food, there was only a small selection of snacks to choose from. (Takis rule!) Of course, that's not the brewery's fault, so the five-star rating remains. Here's hoping the laws evolve to better serve people. (Don't get me started on the lack of alcohol sales in delis.) read more

I love coming to this local brewery! The owners are usually there and are so friendly. They even give you samples of the beer so you can see if you like it before ordering. They also have some really fun events here every week. From trivia night to yoga classes, there is a lot going on. Recently I came for a live music night with a band performing covers of famous songs. It was fun! I definitely recommend checking this place out. Great local brewery with an excellent selection of beers on tap and also canned for takeout. Large space with plenty of seating so you can stay and enjoy a flight or two and bring in your own food from the local restaurants. I enjoyed their pilsner style beer as well as their chocolate stout. great brewery, with even better beer. i wish i lived closer. however, the staff is nice, and the venue is really fun art. they also seem to do a lot of local and fun events. the flights are a steep $19, i am not sure about single pours. parking is a shit show outside unless you pay for a commuter lot, which was $4 for the whole day on a saturday. looking forward to coming back! read more

Four City Brewing has excellent beer. Looking through my activity feed on yelp, it's the best new brewery I've visited in maybe a year. Their beers all have a very unique bold lively flavors. At a lot of breweries, each type of beer you order just tastes the same. Not here. Each one had an original recipe. Four City is the 111th brewery that I have visited in New Jersey alone. They are a black owned brewery. The atmosphere is new and nice. I also thought that they really appreciated my business and greeted me with open arms, which I find extremely important. Nothing turns me off more than a brewery that couldn't care less whether I am patronizing them. Not here. I would definitely see this place as a local hang out. Although they are located in an urban area, they are trying to give the neighborhood a new business in an innovative products. You can also come by train because the train station is right there. It's also a relatively central location, too, because it's close to the parkway and I-280. They sell cans, and you should try them for home consumption. Since there have a relatively central location, I will be stopping there again when I'm in the area to pick up cans. read more

I'm a huge sour beer fan and this place has so many! On the weekends they put up a number of outdoor tables and there is a pop up food "truck" in the parking lot to keep your hunger at bay. If that isn't enough to have you coming through the doors of a real jersey brewery, then let me tell you about hands down the nicest waitress ever that served us. When I walked in with my friends after a long hike my phone was nearly dead. I needed some juice, so went up to our waitress and asked if anyone had a charger for me to borrow & if she would charge my phone while we enjoyed our beers. She said yes, like most people would, but her kindness went beyond that...As we were about to leave and she was returning my phone, she apologized profusely since for some reason my phone didn't charge. What did she do? She offered to give me her charger so I could make it to my next spot with a little extra battery. When I politely refused indicating that we were headed home, she double and triple checked to make sure I would be OK without a phone. I was beyond astounded at her generosity and sincerity which I know she'll give to other patrons as well! read more

Fall out of the train and into the warm embrace of Four City brewing, that's the four cities of Orange, West Orange, South Orange & East Orange. But never mind the geography, when we visited they had 12 varieties on tap. Flights $12. Pour sizes 5, 9 and 13 ounces, but surprisingly no pints on the menu. I was a big fan of their stout and cream ale, the dark wheat ale was very tasty too. Kudos to the brewmaster for making a lager but their Gold Rhein, in honor of the long-lost Rheingold brewery, was forgettable. New-new in 2019, this 7 barrel brewery offers an immaculate tasting room with eclectic music playing and respectable art on the walls, this is not a miserable anonymous industrial space way out in the country like so many others lol. Walk a block up to Main Street to get a little food and bring it back, they're happy to let you drink their fine beer with outside food. Very civilized, but I was surprised how few people were enjoying these fine beers on the Sunday when we visited. Take the trip to Orange! read more

I recently heard about this craft brewery from a co worker, so I decided to take my girlfriend here on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to find street parking easily. Once we arrived, we were seated at a cool high top table right away. Every table was nicely spaced out and all staff was wearing their masks. Very professional. First thing I noticed was their large selection of draft beers on the menu. They had about 20 different kinds, which I love when I'm at a brewery, as the best part is trying out multiple brews. We first ordered 3 medium beers to share, as the medium beers were about 9oz each, and this was close to a beer flight sample. We started with one loral hops ipa, one milkshake ipa, and one chai latte imperial stout. I must say all 3 of there beers were excellent. I loved the ipa and stout, as these are my 2 favorite types of beers to drink. After hanging out for a bit, we ordered 2 more different beers to try. This time we went with the blueberry maple stout and cashmere imperial ipa. Again, these choices were just as good as our first round. I really loved all the beers that they offered here. There was even a nice selection of 16oz 4 packs to go, but I did not purchase any to go. Overall, this place was great and staff was super friendly. Highly recommended everyone try. read more

Yay a new brewery close to home! Love that this is located next to the train- super easy to get there if you're coming in on NJT. Beers were good, they have 8 on tap right now but list 4 more taps as coming soon. Variety was good, they had a cream ale, Belgian, 2 sours, and I think the rest were IPAs, or at least something hoppy. Really nice brand new facility, BYO Food, growler fills. Pleasantly surprised by this local trendy brewery with a comfy interior, chill vibe and excellent beer selection. The family which included my wife and our 20 month old trekked to Jersey from NYC to hit up a children's museum. On the way back we stopped off at this brewery which I guess was an incentive for me making the journey to the children's museum. We were met by one of the owners who chatted with us like old friends joking and playing with our daughter. I had two flights to get a overall sense of their beer selection which was complex yet comforting. At the end I decided on the Oat Cream Man to bring back as a 4 pack to NYC with me. If I lived here, I could totally see myself being a regular picking up a few packs like I saw others do. For now I'll just have to look forward to the next visit to the Jersey Children's museum with a stop here on the way back. read more
