Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Quesadilla pickles, pepper jack cheese, ranch dressing
    Ron M.

Trap Rock Restaurant and Brewery in Berkeley Heights delivered a great lunch. The Crispy RI Calamari was light and crunchy with a clean tempura batter, bright cherry peppers, and a sriracha lime aioli that pulled everything together. The Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Quesadilla had solid heat, melted pepper jack, pickles for snap, and a ranch drizzle that kept it balanced. The food was strong across the board, and their lineup of in-house brews added a unique twist. We enjoyed the visit and will absolutely come back to explore more of the menu.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my brother's birthday. We were a party of 5. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, so we were all able to get seated right away. We started out with some appetizers. We all shared the Cauliflower Burnt Ends & Four Cheese Queso Dip. These were some solid choices. The cauliflower burnt ends was my favorite of the 2. Very unique. For my main meal, I went with the House Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich. The brisket was delicious. Loved how tender it was. The cheese on top was a nice touch. My girlfriend tried the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. She was satisfied with it. I tried some as well, and the pork was very flavorful. Both meals came with fries. We did not try any of the beers or drinks for this outing; only food. Overall, a solid spot this was.

We ate there a week before Christmas with mixed results. The warm soft pretzel app with beer-cheese dip and honey mustard was very good, light and not dense at all, large enough for sharing. We also got a crispy chicken cigars for another app, which was very good with a lime crema and tomatillo-avocado salsa, but a little small for sharing. The trap rock burger was cooked correctly as ordered, medium rare, was served with a generous amount of fries on a soft bun - good, but not remarkable, really. The Filet Mignon with the blue cheese butter was excellent. Cooked perfectly with a good crust, it had great flavor and texture. The whipped potatoes were the perfect complement. The house-smoked brisket was not nearly as good. It wasn't bad, but not as tender as it should have been. It was a disappointment. For dessert we got the apple crisp with brown sugar bourbon ice cream and the cookie skillet with vanilla gelato and a caramel sauce. Both were good, but a little overly-sweet. Because it was my wife's birthday, the brought out an extra dessert with a lit candle which was very nice of them. It was the molten chocolate cake which was good. The place was very crowded and a bit too loud for our taste, but I'll chalk that up to the season. The service was fine considering how many guests they had. Overall, it was a very good meal with a few missteps, but at $262 before tip (includes 3 bar drinks) for a party of 4 is a little pricy, considering half our party only got burgers. It's the prices that brings this down to a 3 star. Food-wise, its a 4.5

We absolutely loved it here and cannot wait to go back. Every part of our experience was excellent from the ambience, to the service, to the food itself. We made a reservation at 8 on a Saturday and it was completely filled when we arrived, not a table open. We were taken to our seats quickly and were greeted by a very friendly manager. Upon being seated, our waiter came right away. We ordered two cocktails - pomegranate sangria and apple cider martini. Both were delicious. For appetizers, we got the Nashville chicken quesadillas (our favorite by far - sooooo good!) and the Alabama wings. Both were delicious but I could've had the quesadillas as my meal. For entrees, the ribs fell off the bone and were delicious. Same with the burger. Amazing. The star of the show (other than the quesadillas) was the cinnamon roll bread pudding. Can't go without it! Awesome place overall. We will be back!!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. Beautiful decor inside with dimmed lights. This venue seems popular for corporate events or rehearsal dinners. Great date spot as well. Positive experience with the wait staff who have always been pleasant and made solid drink recommendations. In my opinion you can never go wrong with a Mule or a Margarita. Always found the drinks to be on-point. The cheddar biscuits were the star of the meal, fluffy square biscuits with cheese baked into them, warm goodness. They also offer some type of whipped butter which pairs nicely. These even are good as leftovers so I wouldn't hesitate to order more pieces! The entrees were decent but lacked the flavor we'd hoped and didn't quite lined up with expectations given the price. However, the dessert helped make up for this. Loved the bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream on top which will have me coming back. It was also sweet of the staff to wish us on our anniversary!

Having lived in the area, my husband and I have been coming here since the restaurant opened and always enjoyed it. Now, we mainly go for weekday lunch when we are in the area and sit at the bar where we chat with many of the local, regular patrons. As a creature of habit, I always get the Brewmaster's lunch with the clam chowder, salmon and garden salad options. Always good. My husband usually gets the burger or the fried chicken sandwich with the delicious crispy french fries. Always good also. There is a variety of housemade beers served nice and cold. Then, we finish off with cappuccinos and one of their delicious desserts served with a scoop of ice cream. Service is friendly, prompt and attentive. I especially like the sophisticated decor, which reminds me of a cozy resort ski chalet.

4 stars for the service. The waiter helpfully described the menu and was very accommodating to the person in our group who had major dietary restrictions. 4 stars for ambiance. We were seated near the fireplace and it was lovely. 2 stars for the food. We ordered the hanger steak, salmon and short rib potpie. My steak was over cooked and way too charred. It wasn't sliced against the grain, which is really needed for hanger steak. The cheddar biscuits were highly recommended. We didn't love them. I got a mango margarita mocktail. It was too bitter to drink. At this price point I expected better.

On my second visit, I tried the blackened shrimp and corn cakes, and that dish alone inspired me to finally leave a review. Every ingredient was so vibrant and delightful, with flavors that complimented each other beautifully. The sweet corn cakes combined with the heat of the shrimp and the creamy avocado were perfect. The various textures made each bite even better. My friend also loved the american waygu burger. The place was pretty packed around 4:30 pm on a Saturday, but service was still pretty quick. Our waitress was also super sweet and attentive. Definitely one of the best dinners I've had in the area. Amazing spot!!

My nephew who lives nearby treated us to an al fresco meal recently while visiting for a family event. My pulled pork smashed burger was everything you want in a packed meat sandwich, with an onion ring and tangy sauce on the brioche bun. The sweet potato fries and a refreshing mocktail to drink made for a perfect meal. Sweetie ate a pasta bolognese (I think) which looked and ate good, and drowned it with a nice glass of red wine. It was packed on the Friday night we visited, with folks lined up for seating, or to hang at the bar and enjoy the bar scene. No reservations. Our late dinner worked fine as the mostly millennial and Gen-Z crowd started thinning shortly after we arrived. Millburn has always been a draw for neighboring townsfolk in search of a meal out. I remember this foodie town from 25 years ago, when its pizza, kosher and diner offerings were top notch. It seems to have upgraded its food scene several notches since my last visit so many years ago. Pure nostalgia for me which made for a very flavorful evening. TOP TIP: Street parking in this part of town is a hassle and the local cops keep a sharp eye for illegally parked cars and inebriated drivers. So park further away from the center of town where you are more likely to snag a legal spot on a busy night.

Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment from the moment we arrived. We were the only people there, yet the floor around our table was dirty with old Goldfish crackers and blueberries. We ordered the banana bread appetizer, an egg tortilla bowl, a western omelet, and two kids' waffles. The banana bread appetizer didn't come out until the rest of our food arrived, and everything was ice cold. The breakfast potatoes tasted old, as if they had been made the day before. While it wasn't ideal, we tried to be understanding since it was a holiday and the staff may have been overwhelmed. The highlight of the meal was the fresh-squeezed orange juice that we enjoyed with our BYOB champagne. However, no one checked on our table during the meal, and I eventually had to stop someone just to ask for the check. When reviewing the bill, I realized the kids' waffles seemed more expensive than expected. Sure enough, we had been overcharged for each one. When I politely questioned it, I was told, "That's the price in our register," and the staff gave me a hard time about correcting it. After asking again, they reluctantly handed me cash for the difference. The waitress was rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. Overall, it was such a disappointing experience, especially compared to how much we enjoyed it last year. Sadly, we'll be choosing a different spot for Mother's Day brunch next year.

Worst dining experience I've had in a long time--if not ever…read more To start, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. Our waitress was just fine, but it was clear she lacked proper training in basic service and restaurant etiquette. Honestly I don't think she wanted to be there, was wearing sweatpants and could barely hear her when she spoke. The issues with the food began right away. I ordered a fruit cup for my son and was initially told they didn't have fruit--despite it being listed on the menu. After pointing that out, it was brought to the table, but the fruit was clearly spoiled, especially the strawberries. They had tried to cut around the rotten parts, which was honestly disgusting and concerning given this was being served to a 2-year-old. We immediately sent it back. I ordered a burger with sautéed onions, but it came out with just a few small slivers of what turned out to be pickled onions instead. The burger itself looked incredibly lackluster. I ended up sending it back and, at that point, was completely turned off from ordering anything else. I also wasn't asked if I'd like to order a replacement, there was no apology, no accountability, just a blank stare while the plate was taken away. To make matters worse, we were still charged $6 for the fries that came with the burger, which my son had started eating before I sent it back. I hadn't taken a single bite of the actual meal. My husband's "Kobe beef" sliders came with bacon that was completely inedible, so he had to remove it. My mom ordered eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon but received regular (inedible) bacon instead, and my father's meal was served cold. Overall, the quality of the food across the table was just poor. The bathrooms were also in rough condition. The women's toilet seat was loose and coming off the hinges, I nearly fell. The bill came to $146 after tip, which felt like a complete waste given the experience. Afterward, we actually drove across the street so I could grab chicken soup elsewhere because I left hungry. This was our second time giving this place a chance, and unfortunately, it will be our last.
