We ate there a week before Christmas with mixed results. The warm soft pretzel app with beer-cheese dip and honey mustard was very good, light and not dense at all, large enough for sharing. We also got a crispy chicken cigars for another app, which was very good with a lime crema and tomatillo-avocado salsa, but a little small for sharing. The trap rock burger was cooked correctly as ordered, medium rare, was served with a generous amount of fries on a soft bun - good, but not remarkable, really. The Filet Mignon with the blue cheese butter was excellent. Cooked perfectly with a good crust, it had great flavor and texture. The whipped potatoes were the perfect complement. The house-smoked brisket was not nearly as good. It wasn't bad, but not as tender as it should have been. It was a disappointment. For dessert we got the apple crisp with brown sugar bourbon ice cream and the cookie skillet with vanilla gelato and a caramel sauce. Both were good, but a little overly-sweet. Because it was my wife's birthday, the brought out an extra dessert with a lit candle which was very nice of them. It was the molten chocolate cake which was good. We've always loved Trap Rock because of the quality of the food and also accommodation of a severe food allergy. Nov 4th we went in for our anniversary and Ariella was our server. She went above and beyond to make sure my meal was prepared according to my life-threatening allergy and actually caught something that would have been dangerous for me by double checking and pulling it off the table after the plate had been put down. We chose Trap Rock for a Valentine's Day dinner and we made the right choice. The service and the food were better than we have ever had there, and that is saying something. They leaned into it and insisted of just gouging the hopeless romantics they celebrated with us. Both were delicious. For appetizers, we got the Nashville chicken quesadillas (our favorite by far - sooooo good!) and the Alabama wings. Positive experience with the wait staff who have always been pleasant and made solid drink recommendations. In my opinion you can never go wrong with a Mule or a Margarita. Always found the drinks to be on-point. The cheddar biscuits were the star of the meal, fluffy square biscuits with cheese baked into them, warm goodness. They also offer some type of whipped butter which pairs nicely. These even are good as leftovers so I wouldn't hesitate to order more pieces! The entrees were decent but lacked the flavor we'd hoped and didn't quite lined up with expectations given the price. However, the dessert helped make up for this. Having lived in the area, my husband and I have been coming here since the restaurant opened and always enjoyed it. Now, we mainly go for weekday lunch when we are in the area and sit at the bar where we chat with many of the local, regular patrons. As a creature of habit, I always get the Brewmaster's lunch with the clam chowder, salmon and garden salad options. Always good. My husband usually gets the burger or the fried chicken sandwich with the delicious crispy french fries. Always good also. There is a variety of housemade beers served nice and cold. Absolutely beautiful ambience. We were seated in the upstairs party room. It was decorated for Christmas during our visit, which was enchanting. Our wait staff was delightful. The loss of two stars is attributed to the food. We had been seated for an hour well before our entrees arrived. The food was unfortunately served to us cold. Although the presented food tasted good, it would've been better heated all the way through. We did have a diner in our party state that the pork chop was the most tender that she'd ever had. Very nice place to treat me to lunch. This was a place in "my collection" to try. And glad I saved it. Close to home. Nice size parking lot and by seeing the lunchtime crowd, I can see this needing a Reservation on the weekends. A brewery-type interior with low lighting. Different types of table sittings high chair tables, booths, and small table settings for different size groups. My waiter Brian was right on point. Attentive and very friendly. Today I decided on the Cajun clam chowder for starters. Something different for me. And a good choice. The heat I never taste till it was going down my throat. Great flavor and is something I'll get again if see it on a menu elsewhere as well. I went with the Cajun shrimp salad. And the dressing was in it, and it was just right. The shrimp were double jumbo size to me. And generous with the portion. Everything was fresh and just the right amount. On the way out I got the young man in the brewery working. Real cool guy. My wife took me here last night for my birthday. We have not been to the restaurant in a few years. We remember it was a very good place. It was pulled stringy chicken that was dry and barely there. The server was wonderful and ran in back and brought us more chicken. Had such a fantastic meal here last night. Started with the grapefruit martini which was so good I'm thinking about recreating it at home. Tuna tartare appetizer which was delicious with lots of fresh herbs. My salmon entree was quite possibly the best cooked salmon I've ever had at a restaurant. Crispy outside and perfectly cooked inside coupled with a smoky bok choy and light lemon sauce. Service was timely and pleasant.
