Our server was attentive and professional, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and quietly classy--ideal for a relaxed lunch and conversation. I started with the Candy Roaster Squash & Coconut Soup, a vegan dish with a warm, sweet, and hearty flavor profile. It was absolutely perfect on a cold winter day. For my entrée, I ordered the Brewer's Burger with pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, rosemary aioli, and a side of frites. The flavors came together beautifully--salty, sweet, and savory notes all working in harmony. Truly a dance in your mouth. What more is there to say.. there are almost 500 reviews for this restaurant for good reason. Good parking next to the Berkley Height Animal Hospital. Inside is dimly lit. The staff is warm and professional even if service is very busy but I'm not one to linger at a table for a long time after a meal. No matter what you order, it'll be pretty good. I was NOT a fan of the baby back ribs though, an expensive disappointment. Maybe it's just me but I found it salty and bland. Also the fully loaded potato was fully boring! However the Nashville chicken quesadilla and everything else I've had is pretty good. Sometimes they even allow takeout orders for pick up. It's a great option for the area. We started out with some appetizers. We all shared the Cauliflower Burnt Ends & Four Cheese Queso Dip. These were some solid choices. The cauliflower burnt ends was my favorite of the 2. Very unique. For my main meal, I went with the House Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich. The brisket was delicious. Loved how tender it was. The cheese on top was a nice touch. We ate there a week before Christmas with mixed results. The warm soft pretzel app with beer-cheese dip and honey mustard was very good, light and not dense at all, large enough for sharing. We also got a crispy chicken cigars for another app, which was very good with a lime crema and tomatillo-avocado salsa, but a little small for sharing. The trap rock burger was cooked correctly as ordered, medium rare, was served with a generous amount of fries on a soft bun - good, but not remarkable, really. The Filet Mignon with the blue cheese butter was excellent. Cooked perfectly with a good crust, it had great flavor and texture. The whipped potatoes were the perfect complement. The house-smoked brisket was not nearly as good. It wasn't bad, but not as tender as it should have been. It was a disappointment. For dessert we got the apple crisp with brown sugar bourbon ice cream and the cookie skillet with vanilla gelato and a caramel sauce. Both were good, but a little overly-sweet. Because it was my wife's birthday, the brought out an extra dessert with a lit candle which was very nice of them. It was the molten chocolate cake which was good. The place was very crowded and a bit too loud for our taste, but I'll chalk that up to the season. The service was fine considering how many guests they had. Overall, it was a very good meal with a few missteps, but at $262 before tip (includes 3 bar drinks) for a party of 4 is a little pricy, considering half our party only got burgers. This was not our first time at Trap Rock. A few things to note: they do not have highchairs for kids. The place is noisy. The menu is limited; I expected more 'bar food.' The service was good, and the place was packed. With a gluten-free child, the only item on the menu for him was a $40 piece of fish. Kids menu is all carbs. We chose Trap Rock for a Valentine's Day dinner and we made the right choice. The service and the food were better than we have ever had there, and that is saying something. They leaned into it and insisted of just gouging the hopeless romantics they celebrated with us. We've always loved Trap Rock because of the quality of the food and also accommodation of a severe food allergy. Nov 4th we went in for our anniversary and Ariella was our server. She went above and beyond to make sure my meal was prepared according to my life-threatening allergy and actually caught something that would have been dangerous for me by double checking and pulling it off the table after the plate had been put down. We absolutely loved it here and cannot wait to go back. Every part of our experience was excellent from the ambience, to the service, to the food itself. We made a reservation at 8 on a Saturday and it was completely filled when we arrived, not a table open. We were taken to our seats quickly and were greeted by a very friendly manager. Upon being seated, our waiter came right away. We ordered two cocktails - pomegranate sangria and apple cider martini. Both were delicious. For appetizers, we got the Nashville chicken quesadillas (our favorite by far - sooooo good!) and the Alabama wings. Both were delicious but I could've had the quesadillas as my meal. Always found the drinks to be on-point. The cheddar biscuits were the star of the meal, fluffy square biscuits with cheese baked into them, warm goodness. They also offer some type of whipped butter which pairs nicely. These even are good as leftovers so I wouldn't hesitate to order more pieces! The entrees were decent but lacked the flavor we'd hoped and didn't quite lined up with expectations given the price. However, the dessert helped make up for this. Having lived in the area, my husband and I have been coming here since the restaurant opened and always enjoyed it. Now, we mainly go for weekday lunch when we are in the area and sit at the bar where we chat with many of the local, regular patrons. As a creature of habit, I always get the Brewmaster's lunch with the clam chowder, salmon and garden salad options. Always good. My husband usually gets the burger or the fried chicken sandwich with the delicious crispy french fries. Always good also. There is a variety of housemade beers served nice and cold. Then, we finish off with cappuccinos and one of their delicious desserts served with a scoop of ice cream. Service is friendly, prompt and attentive. Our family ate here for a Sunday dinner and we were disappointed for a few reasons. The brisket was way too fatty and the Mac and Cheese was so bland. The burger was not very big and nothing special. The prices for the kids meals were ridiculous- $15.95 for buttered noodles??? No refills for sodas so our soda bill was $40! Today I decided on the Cajun clam chowder for starters. Something different for me. And a good choice. The heat I never taste till it was going down my throat. Great flavor and is something I'll get again if see it on a menu elsewhere as well. I went with the Cajun shrimp salad. And the dressing was in it, and it was just right. My wife took me here last night for my birthday. We have not been to the restaurant in a few years. We remember it was a very good place. The restaurant is very nice setting. We were disappointed when we got our main dishes, as they were only luke warm and not hot. Its like the food was sitting under a hot lamp until they brought it to our table. For a restaurant that charges expensive prices, you would think the food would be hot. They asked us how the food was & we didn't want to tell them right there. Tuna tartare appetizer which was delicious with lots of fresh herbs. My salmon entree was quite possibly the best cooked salmon I've ever had at a restaurant. I have had okay meals here but was excited to try the smoked food selection. You can see the smoker in the back area, and it smells great. Ordered the smoked chicken salad. It was pulled stringy chicken that was dry and barely there. The server was wonderful and ran in back and brought us more chicken. A small cup of stringy chicken that was ice cold came out to supplement the salad. It too was tasteless. 5 stars for server, and 1 star for an over priced salad that I could have made at home. I had a passionfruit cocktail which really hit the spot. For apps, you must get the Nashville "hot" chicken quesadilla - which is delicious even though it is not hot at all.
