Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Quesadilla pickles, pepper jack cheese, ranch dressing
    Ron M.

Trap Rock Restaurant and Brewery in Berkeley Heights delivered a great lunch. The Crispy RI Calamari was light and crunchy with a clean tempura batter, bright cherry peppers, and a sriracha lime aioli that pulled everything together. The Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Quesadilla had solid heat, melted pepper jack, pickles for snap, and a ranch drizzle that kept it balanced. The food was strong across the board, and their lineup of in-house brews added a unique twist. We enjoyed the visit and will absolutely come back to explore more of the menu.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my brother's birthday. We were a party of 5. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant wasn't too crowded, so we were all able to get seated right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started out with some appetizers. We all shared the Cauliflower Burnt Ends & Four Cheese Queso Dip. These were some solid choices. The cauliflower burnt ends was my favorite of the 2. Very unique. For my main meal, I went with the House Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich. The brisket was delicious. Loved how tender it was. The cheese on top was a nice touch. My girlfriend tried the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. She was satisfied with it. I tried some as well, and the pork was very flavorful. Both meals came with fries. We did not try any of the beers or drinks for this outing; only food. Overall, a solid spot this was.

We ate there a week before Christmas with mixed results. The warm soft pretzel app with beer-cheese dip and honey mustard was very good, light and not dense at all, large enough for sharing. We also got a crispy chicken cigars for another app, which was very good with a lime crema and tomatillo-avocado salsa, but a little small for sharing. The trap rock burger was cooked correctly as ordered, medium rare, was served with a generous amount of fries on a soft bun - good, but not remarkable, really. The Filet Mignon with the blue cheese butter was excellent. Cooked perfectly with a good crust, it had great flavor and texture. The whipped potatoes were the perfect complement. The house-smoked brisket was not nearly as good. It wasn't bad, but not as tender as it should have been. It was a disappointment. For dessert we got the apple crisp with brown sugar bourbon ice cream and the cookie skillet with vanilla gelato and a caramel sauce. Both were good, but a little overly-sweet. Because it was my wife's birthday, the brought out an extra dessert with a lit candle which was very nice of them. It was the molten chocolate cake which was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was very crowded and a bit too loud for our taste, but I'll chalk that up to the season.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fine considering how many guests they had. Overall, it was a very good meal with a few missteps, but at $262 before tip (includes 3 bar drinks) for a party of 4 is a little pricy, considering half our party only got burgers. It's the prices that brings this down to a 3 star. Food-wise, its a 4.5

My second time in that place and i decided to leave review! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's an amazing cozy accommodation![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 5 stars service! Beautiful wine selection and the best fish and chips ( cod ) i ever had. I lived in London btw and it's my to go meal! Will keep coming back while in Jersey!

We absolutely loved it here and cannot wait to go back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every part of our experience was excellent from the ambience, to the service, to the food itself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We made a reservation at 8 on a Saturday and it was completely filled when we arrived, not a table open. We were taken to our seats quickly and were greeted by a very friendly manager. Upon being seated, our waiter came right away. We ordered two cocktails - pomegranate sangria and apple cider martini. Both were delicious. For appetizers, we got the Nashville chicken quesadillas (our favorite by far - sooooo good!) and the Alabama wings. Both were delicious but I could've had the quesadillas as my meal. For entrees, the ribs fell off the bone and were delicious. Same with the burger. Amazing. The star of the show (other than the quesadillas) was the cinnamon roll bread pudding. Can't go without it! Awesome place overall. We will be back!!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. Beautiful decor inside with dimmed lights. This venue seems popular for corporate events or rehearsal dinners. Great date spot as well. Positive experience with the wait staff who have always been pleasant and made solid drink recommendations. In my opinion you can never go wrong with a Mule or a Margarita. Always found the drinks to be on-point. The cheddar biscuits were the star of the meal, fluffy square biscuits with cheese baked into them, warm goodness. They also offer some type of whipped butter which pairs nicely. These even are good as leftovers so I wouldn't hesitate to order more pieces! The entrees were decent but lacked the flavor we'd hoped and didn't quite lined up with expectations given the price. However, the dessert helped make up for this. Loved the bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream on top which will have me coming back. It was also sweet of the staff to wish us on our anniversary!

Having lived in the area, my husband and I have been coming here since the restaurant opened and always enjoyed it. Now, we mainly go for weekday lunch when we are in the area and sit at the bar where we chat with many of the local, regular patrons. As a creature of habit, I always get the Brewmaster's lunch with the clam chowder, salmon and garden salad options. Always good. My husband usually gets the burger or the fried chicken sandwich with the delicious crispy french fries. Always good also. There is a variety of housemade beers served nice and cold. Then, we finish off with cappuccinos and one of their delicious desserts served with a scoop of ice cream. Service is friendly, prompt and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I especially like the sophisticated decor, which reminds me of a cozy resort ski chalet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

4 stars for the service. The waiter helpfully described the menu and was very accommodating to the person in our group who had major dietary restrictions. 4 stars for ambiance. We were seated near the fireplace and it was lovely. 2 stars for the food. We ordered the hanger steak, salmon and short rib potpie. My steak was over cooked and way too charred. It wasn't sliced against the grain, which is really needed for hanger steak. The cheddar biscuits were highly recommended. We didn't love them. I got a mango margarita mocktail. It was too bitter to drink. At this price point I expected better.

What is outstanding to us is the care which all the staff and brewers show as they are there. Clearly the same love is widespread as the place was full on a Sunday afternoon. It is pleasing that many were there with their kids showing that this local business gives to the whole of the community. The enjoyment of brewing has moved past mere pub secrecy out to the whole of the community. A long calendar of events of all types from pub trivia to local music to sponsoring fellow food, eateries and holidays are all helpful to promote the family warranted nature of this business as it's clear with a large number of newborns and families as might be unusual and yet should be normalized. All staff are knowledgeable in the brewing and hospitality skills to succeed now and for the long run. Point of sale systems are able to keep open a tab and clearly distinguish ongoing bills. The marketing keeps rights with the sign ups of emails and keeping customer histories. Branding is consistent and relevant leading to a nice, smooth, comfortable customer experience. The two bathrooms are both individual and there are plenty of amenities like nooks and crannies the chat in and coat hooks and ledges and more private corners and food trucks rotate thru the good seasons and lots of lovely people always. Cheers!

There's nothing my friends love more than books and beer so to finally be at the place where I enjoy both was very nice. They brought their 11yo daughter who also had a good time. It seemed like half of book club was there too lol which to me says a lot about this place - people CHOOSE to come here even when they don't "have" to. Special shout to owner Billy and bartender Nicole. I am typically quite introverted and due in part to them and others they work with I feel quite at home and talkative. I love it here!
