All the way from Cali, this place does not disappoint. Ambiance is amazing and right next to the train station for a quick drink. The food has so much flavor and variety. I tried everything! The owner is so passionate about his food and the customer experience. You have to stop by for the sangria and shrimp.

    Boxcar Spritz at the bar.

Great place for a drink and a burger after work. Burger was yummy, the Boxcar Spritz refreshing and the service was attentive and friendly. Will have to go back and try an entree.

Had a great dinner here. The chicken wings were very crispy and crunchy! I also loved the cauliflower appetizer! The Truffle Mushroom Ravioli are a must try for your meal! Food is solid at Boxcar, I will definitely be back soon!

The vibe is friendly. The service is spot on. The food is delicious. It's a restaurant in a train station at Short Hills but it feels like being welcomed into somebody's home who also has a bad ass restaurant in it as well. I've been there several times, and it keeps getting better every time I visit. The food is spot on. Simple not too fussy. There hasn't been one thing that I've had that hasn't been delicious. They don't seem to miss a beat. The meatballs. When they arrived, there was no ricotta. I'm thinking, what's going on? Until the first bite. I wanted to apologize to someone for just thinking it. So, good. Firm but soft. Moist because they were cooked perfectly. These meat balls need no ricotta. You couldn't ask for a more perfect meatball. The Arancine were amazing. The rice perfectly cooked. Not too soft. The crust perfectly crunchy. The flavor, just the right amount of cheese. The texture between the crispy and softness is just great. The mushroom ravioli was a standout. Wild mushroom ravioli with shaved truffle. There was no perfunctory blessing of the dish with some awful truffle product. Straight up legit. The pizza. Neopolitan style. Probably, the best I've had in years in this area regardless of style. The pepperoni pizza is like a tutorial on how to cook a pizza. I could keep on going but then I'd just start to drool and embarrass myself. These guys get it. They'll doing great, simple food and getting all the easy things right and finding details that would go unnoticed except for the fact that when you have to leave you realize you had a great time. Nevermind the taps are filled with delicious selections. Things you don't see everywhere. Untied IPA. Brick City. Delicious. Curated.

Came here for drinks and appetizers on a 2nd stop and was treated to good service which is always a good start. We got the Jumbo wings and Teriyaki cauliflower I believe, I can't quite remember. The wings were great. True to size, crispy and saucy - something that is a miss with many places that serve up buffalo wings. The Cauliflower however was a bit more forgettable. The presentation was excellent up until is I realized it was it was cauliflower head with the sauce drizzled on top. A couple problems with this. Having to cut it up was king of a pain, especially as a shared appetizer. It didn't seem cooked much so it was tough to cut into. Lastly it didn't seem like the flavor blended fully with it. As I mentioned it's like the sauce was drizzled on rather it was cooked alongside the cauliflower so it could marinate a bit. Needless to say it was disappointing, so I'd avoid this. The drinks were good. Priced expectedly, but they use the good stuff and you can tell. I'd like to give this place another shot. It's outside the the train station but away from lots of foot traffic so it's a good balance.

My friends and I got together after work for drinks and food. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. At first I didn't see where the restaurant was but it is located right by the train station. I walked in and found some seats by the bar where we sat. Amy was our bartender and she was good. I only drank so I had Merlot. My friends got food and drinks which they enjoyed. There is no happy hour here fyi. The bill wasn't too bad. All in all we enjoyed our time.

They menu has all of the Italian classics - pasta, meatballs, pizzas, salads, parms, etc. For an app we started with an order of two meatballs. These were absolutely massive, so flavorful and came with a large dollop of ricotta. We also tried some super cheesy rice balls which were chefs kiss. The chicken parm was pounded thin and delicious, and the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage came with a massive portion. Also an honorable mention for the bread basket which was overflowing with fresh and hot seasoned bread. Service was speedy and friendly, holiday decor was cute and there is a full bar. Millburn has an abundant amount of Italian restaurants, and I'm glad we didn't overlook Joey's!

The Garlic Knots are so delicious; the knots are so fluffy and soft though firm like chewing savory (more so texture wise) cotton candy that does not dissolve. With every bite, flavoring seems to improve, especially with the soft though thicker than thinner more savory than sweet tomatoe-ish sauce. From my order experience, the mozzarella after flavor lingers with the garlic after flavor for about 30 and 40 hours. Yum, though I prefer the garlic more so than the mozzarella, all quite tasty. The establishment accepts different forms of payment. The establishment connects with a neighboring eatery, by way of a mid way pass, and both establishments offer different selections. Between both establishments are a variety of eating options, though one may need to ask about where is suitable to eat between the two, if ordering between the two. Each separately offers distinct seating options.

My nephew who lives nearby treated us to an al fresco meal recently while visiting for a family event. My pulled pork smashed burger was everything you want in a packed meat sandwich, with an onion ring and tangy sauce on the brioche bun. The sweet potato fries and a refreshing mocktail to drink made for a perfect meal. Sweetie ate a pasta bolognese (I think) which looked and ate good, and drowned it with a nice glass of red wine. It was packed on the Friday night we visited, with folks lined up for seating, or to hang at the bar and enjoy the bar scene. No reservations. Our late dinner worked fine as the mostly millennial and Gen-Z crowd started thinning shortly after we arrived. Millburn has always been a draw for neighboring townsfolk in search of a meal out. I remember this foodie town from 25 years ago, when its pizza, kosher and diner offerings were top notch. It seems to have upgraded its food scene several notches since my last visit so many years ago. Pure nostalgia for me which made for a very flavorful evening. TOP TIP: Street parking in this part of town is a hassle and the local cops keep a sharp eye for illegally parked cars and inebriated drivers. So park further away from the center of town where you are more likely to snag a legal spot on a busy night.

I came for lunch and appreciated the fact that they had a lunch menu that includes a complimentary cup of soup. Although it was literally 100 degrees outside, the cream of crab soup was the perfect accompaniment to the entree of chicken fajitas and was quite lovely. The fajitas were sizzling hot when they came to the table, the plate was full of chicken, and the dish tasted fantastic. Also, I had a lychee mocktail which was a delight. The Cobb chicken sandwich was also a huge portion and was reminiscent of the salad but instead had a ciabatta bun. Also, our server, Sierra, was so sweet and attentive. All in all, we had an excellent experience per usual and will definitely be back.

Honestly, the design inside and its staff may be their redeeming qualities. Staff was attentive and even though we were seated in the patio they came to check on us often, clearing plates, offering to get us more food/drinks each time. As soon as you sit down, you're met with chips and salsa (pictured). Chips were ok, the salsa had very little flavor or seasoning. I can only describe it as a watered down Tostitos mild salsa (you know - the salsa in the glass jar). Food was average. Extensive menu, but quality varies across dishes. My partner got a steak and eggs, which was not too bad. They nailed the medium rare temperature. And the chimichurri had a good flavor. My quesadilla was OK, with the salsa toppings and side salad being average tasting. I gave this place two tries, I don't think they get a third one. Unsure if I'd return but if I did perhaps it'd be for happy hour drinks (Monday-Friday 4-6P).
