When my husband and I first started discussing expanding our house in 2020 we were not sure who to contact. I saw a number of houses in our neighborhood with. Murphy Construction sign so decided to give a call. Skip called me back within 24 hours and was over a few days later to speak about what we would like done. He was very honest in terms of the cost of the extension as well as the time frame on when he could start work (we expected a wait time since everyone is redoing their house right now!). He was true to his word on both which we were very thankful for. We we're also extremely thankful that Skip and team were understanding when we said we had a baby on the way to ensure everything was done prior to his arrival (which it was - HUGE THANK YOU!). In terms of work, Skip, Marvin and his team demolished our sunroom and previous bathroom and added on a new hallway, linen closets, bathroom, additional bedroom and family room. They also redid our floors upstairs, finished the attic, provided new windows in a previous bedroom, installed wall air conditioners in 4 rooms and created a covered patio area outside off of our new family room. Our smallish 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house has truly been transformed into something we couldn't imagine. We are beyond happy with the way everything turned out and could not be more thankful. The whole team was extremely courteous, kind and responsive. My husband and I both work from home so we literally were around to watch the house transform around us. The team showed up diligently on time, every single day and quickly and efficiently worked to get the job done with a few short months. We even made some changes as work was progressing and they were more than accommodating to ensure the job was done to our liking and to what we wanted. Laura, one of Skips office managers was also wonderful in ensuring any extras we added on our changes were relayed to Skip and team. Overall, the whole process was seamless and we fully recommend them to anyone who is looking to remodel. All of the sub-contractors (plumber, electrician, tile, floor, foundation, etc) they used were also truly wonderful so it was comforting to know that we had people we could trust at our house. A PROBLEMATIC LEAKING FLAT ROOF 7/18/2023 Has finally been…read morecorrected thanks to CONLON EXTERIORS! The flat roof over our garage has been leaking for many years. We have had it repaired three times in the past by different roofers without any luck at all. Recently I got more estimates from roofers who specialize on flat roofs repairs, and I also called on Colon Exteriors,516-781-5194, they were the ones who put up our sloped roof many years ago, which is still in great shape today! Jim Conlon told me he has repaired many flat roofs with success and after looking at my flat roof said he would repair and STOP my leaks once and for all. The price I received from Jim Conlon was also more affordable to me than the other roofers quotes I had gotten. Last week Conlon Exteriors, took two days to do the job. They had to replace some rotted wood caused by the water leaks, had to remove then replace some aluminum siding without bending it (which is very difficult to do) pull off the old tar paper on the roof and replaced it with a more costly EPDM roofing system. All the work was done by experienced long time Conlon crew members who know their business. This weekend as you all know we had plenty of rain to test out this new roofing system. I am happy to say that no leaks were found in the garage at all! Thank you Jim Conlon and crew. I decided to check out converting from a wood-burning fireplace to gas. I'm too old to continue…read moredealing with firewood and ashes. So I googled fireplace conversions in Nassau County and the Fireplace Factory in Bellmore was the first listing. I called and spoke to Jocelyn who suggested I talk to Tom. I told him what I wanted. We discussed pricing and other options. I made an appointment and went there with pictures of what I have in my living room. I couldn't believe how many choices there are. Tom was wonderful! My house isn't set up for a fireplace which would heat the room, so I looked at the ones that were decorative. I found a very nice white birch model which would be perfect. I signed a contract and was on my way. I needed a plumber to make the conversion. Rather than choosing one of my own, I went with their plumbers, Clearway Plumbing and Heating in Blue Point. They were awesome. They were upstairs, downstairs, outside and inside, making all the necessary connections with my gas line. They spent an afternoon here and when they were finished, my house was immaculate. The next step was having the insert installed. There were several glitches trying to schedule a time, but Tom took care of it for me. The actual set up is done by Chris, who's been installing fireplaces for 31 years. When he was finished, he handed me a remote control for my new gas fireplace! Push a button to turn it on. Push a button to turn it off. Wow! A big thumbs up to the Fireplace Factory, their staff, their plumbers and their installer. My fireplace is beautiful, and I couldn't be happier!

I reached out to the Fireplace Factory and made an appointment for a consultation. We had an…read moreexisting fireplace that never worked since we purchased the home and wanted to 1) install a new gas unit to replace the old defective unit and 2) new mantle that fit the decor of our home and added safety for the little ones that play in that area. We started with a consultation with David who did a great job helping us pick a unit and mantle design. We signed a contract with an expected turnaround time of 6-8 weeks taking us to March. This was an important point for us as we have a 4 year old and needed this done quickly to minimize the disruption to her space. The project wrapped up this week (May) due to multiple delays related to their suppliers and sub contractors. Communication with the Project Manager assigned to this project was not great and I found myself following up quite often and being given information that was incorrect related to scheduling. This was the most frustrating part and only reason the review isn't five stars. One thing I'd point out; both David and the owner were responsive when I ended up escalating the delays. However, there wasn't much they could do to remedy the situation, but I appreciate they were responsive. Overall, I would recommend Fireplace Factory as the quality of work was great. Also the workers that came into our home were very professional and did a fantastic job keeping the space clean and with the overall quality. We are super excited with the end result and can't wait for the Fall to start using this often. I'd caution to give yourself a good amount of buffer for the completion date of the project. I was told this was an unusual experience, but as it's my only one, I can't validate if that is true or not.
