Oh. My. God. I am in love with this place. I took a bunch of photos so be sure to take a look at the lovelies they have here. What brought me in was a chair I saw at one of the little shops off S. Congress and I had to have it. My friend said it looked like Four Hands and when I turned it upside down to look that's exactly where it came from. Sadly, it is discontinued recently (like within the last 6 months) and I can't find it anywhere. But one of the employees, named Tristan I believe, took me around showing me very similar items and telling me about the current sale they have on some of them. While inside I saw several beautiful things I loved, book cases, dining tables, dining chairs, couches, night stands, lights, lamps, clocks, mirrors, console tables, you name it. It's gorgeous in here. We chatted with Tristan for a while who said Four Hands sells to Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, etc. and several other retailers so the style is very similar. But their prices are FAR more reasonable. They won't ship it to you unless you are there in person or have been in recently in person - you can't call and order over the phone because since they distribute to so many other stores they can't compete with their prices unless it's show room bought in Austin... good to know. I'm still searching for those chairs but if I can't find them I can get my friend to get me one of the ones I saw there and have it shipped. Gorgeous, I wish we had one of these here but I'll know where to go in Austin for great stuff next time I'm in town!

    Warped table top.

Spent $3000 purchasing the Brooklyn Dining table from Four Hands who advertises that the table has blended woods and "materials' of natural quality" but what Four Hands DOESN'T tell you is, don't get it wet! The top is a piece of shit veneer, so when wet, water absorbs into the seems and the veneer warps and bubbles (see attached photo). Then, when you call Four Hands for warranty support, you get the proverbial finger.

Good call John E. on reviewing Four Hands! Here's a place that totally slipped my mind, but shouldn't have. Headquartered here in Austin, this interior-design-oriented storehouse of globally-inspired home furnishings would likely arouse even an unenlightened design know-nothing like myself. Four Hands has four stores. Atlanta, Austin, Vegas and High Point, North Carolina (random...). The original locale can be found a bit off the beaten path on Woodward Street (near the convergence of IH-35 and Hwy 290). Beautiful, high-quality furniture of every shape and size. Deep dark woods. Gorgeous fabrics. Modern, contemporary, classy, exotic, new age, old age...a little of everything. I would especially suggest Four Hands if you're in the market for a dining room table, a living room chair, or a large bureau. But none of my rambling is important. What's important is that you attend one of their warehouse sales. Unbelievable. On a normal retail day, Four Hands is pricey for the average consumer. But on a warehouse sale day, it's anyone's game. Get there early and get there quick. Sit, lie or squat on your chosen piece. Don't get up until it's tagged SOLD. I've seen a few cat fights. I don't want to see you get hurt, but I do want to see you carry home your brand new kitchen table and matching chairs! Get Your Hands on Four Hands.

Interesting combinations of metal and wood, esp. reclaimed.

love this place... it's kinda funny because every Austin home I enter, I can recognize Four Hands furniture. Some items can be a little pricier but you're getting hefty furniture (more house, than apartment), and it has a somewhat unique look. They love their reclaimed wood. That's all I can write... if/when any of my friends see this, I'll never hear the end of writing a review about a furniture store.

In fact, all their Austin signs and Keep Austin Weird signs were a draw to venture into the store. Austin's Furniture depot is located on Burnet Road and offers a unique mix of new furniture, statement pieces, and items from local artists. This is not your typical furniture store. Surprisingly, the Austin signs are quite affordable. I asked Shawn one of the store managers, what do folks do with all these signs. He responded by saying the put them in their homes and businesses. One of the eye-catching items in the addition to the signage, are the abstract and unusual artwork covered in shiny glass. I love abstract anything, therefore, I was very intrigued. They also had some individuals featured in the pictures with bold and colorful features. Shawn was friendly, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. He asked what I was looking for and took time to point out some potential selections. It was an overall very engaging and pleasant visit. Will definitely drop in again...

I'm not prolific at reviews, but this store has everything from outrageous to traditional to funky/retro. seems like every time I stop by just to browse (after lunch at top notch next door) I end up finding something to add to my home. I bought two pieces of art (wall hangings) that are truly one of a kind finds. but all of that aside, I find the staff over the top knowledgeable and TRUELY helpful. Ricky the "rock star" helped me today. I was skittish on buying two large pictures for fear they wouldn't fit in my car. with his help and some cardboard, I was able and excited to get my purchase home. I appreciate that the whole staff here are the best ever as far as assistance. if I am able to upload pictures of my purchase, you'll understand why I like shopping this place.

At least a couple of times throughout the year this furniture store has a tent sale. I may glance into the tent if the furniture is clear visible. In full transparency, I did not know what the durability or longevity of furniture would be purchased at outlet. For clothing at an outlet, the hem could be off, button missing or another small imperfection. One would expect furniture to be durable and long lasting. Four Hands Outlet carries medium grade furniture. It appears to be foundational type furniture. There were a number of tables, chairs and sofa to peruse in the store. I will likely pop by when the tent is fully stocked. It is important to note that Four Hands Outlet has earned a number of Yelp awards. The sales representative shared her knowledge of what was going to be included in the sale, although her knowledge was limited. The furniture ranges from low to medium price range.

The space is very truly a thrift shop--bit of everything everywhere in the main room, and it's very fun to walk around and look for little treasures! Kevin explained to me that he rearranges his shop pretty often (he cheekily calls the practice "funk shui") to get people's eyes on different items every time they come in. He tends to get his wares from estate sales, auctions, and considers himself a treasure hunter. And I must agree! Lots of treasures in Far Out, and I loved sifting through them. If you make your way in, you'll likely hear from Kevin that he's open to negotiation and bundling items for reasonable deals. He seems just to be genuinely excited to find cool items and give them new homes. And I appreciate that energy a lot. I came in looking, loosely, for some home decor as my husband and I outfit our home after moving back to Texas from Georgia. But nothing felt quite right on the decor side. But I saw some beautiful pieces and walked out of the store with a vintage book I was excited about. So I consider it a successful trip. :) Make a trip over to check out Kevin's treasures. It's worth it!
