We've had this chair for approximately 3 years. We spent over $4000 for it. This is what it looks like now...Relax the Back has told us this is "normal wear and tear". Looking for a new pillow, I walked in and was greeted with a sign that said, "Have you been fitted for your pillow?" Perfect! Just what I needed. An employee took me to a mattress comparable to mine, the offered me different pillows to try. With each pillow, he explained how it fit my neck and shoulders, helping me find the perfect pillow. The associate was very patient, and offered me as much time as I needed to be sure the pillow I chose was the best fit. While waiting to check out, he took me to a comfortable reclining chair in which to wait. He adjusted it for prefect alignment and turned on the heat. So relaxing! He offered to turn on the massage function, but I didn't have time to linger. I only wish I hadn't been under a time crunch! I was sooooo excited to see an actual "Container Store" in my travels! 8 needed a few things, but the store was locked tight, people still in there, but only being let out. It was approximately 1750, 5:50pm. I misread the signage on the store. It closes at 1800, 6:00pm. It seems the store locks it's doors early to close on time. I will never come back yo this store, it closes early, refuses Customers in order to get off exactly at 6:00pm? Good for the employees. I guess they get paid until 6:00pm. read more

I did not think there were stores that thrived on customer service anymore. However, Relax the Back NW Austin pleasantly surprised me. I was having neck problems due to working on a computer all day. I was greeted at the door and was given full attention throughout my (many) hours in the store, deciding on the right office chair. Not only did the store help me with a perfect fit for neck relief, they also helped me design a chair from the ground up. After I received the chair, I had a few modifications I needed done. The owner drove to my house to perform the needed tweaks. Although their items are somewhat pricy, I strongly believe my time spent learning about the different options they have available, was worth every penny. My purchased chair is perfect for me as well as the ongoing customer service I have received. I highly recommend them. read more

I will keep this simple for everyone. Before buying ANYTHING at this Relax the Back store, first shop for equal products online for price comparisons. I made the dumb mistake of walking in buying a couple of $100 - $150 price-ranged products only to find out later that I really got gauged in the prices!! (I mean like, I paid 30 - 40% HIGHER in the store than I could have got very equal stuff from online.) Maybe the prices depend on who the Salesperson is, I don't know... Good luck! read more

The store has great service. I purchased a relax the back chair several years ago when living in a different city. I had an issue with an arm of the executive chair breaking (my fault) and went it to see if I could get a number to call to order the broken part. The store manager went into his inventory to find me the part I was looking for and didn't charge me for the part. Great service and great chairs. I left with a massager, gel pillow and Knee foam block. I've used them all for over a month and they've made huge difference for me. I just love this place! Over the years I've gotten a Tempurpedic adjustable bed, pillows, sheets, seat cushions even a neck pillow for traveling. Not only have the products been first-rate, the people assisting me have always been knowledgeable and extremely helpful! Several years ago a I purchased one of the big comfy Lifetime office chairs. I love my chair but I'm a big guy and pretty hard on it so I called them to do a tuneup. A service that cost a couple hundred dollars on my old Herman Miller chair. Not only did they offer a loaner chair while mine was being fixed, but the entire charge was only $3!!! And the president of the company stopped by personally to make sure I was taken care of! These folks are simply the BEST for providing consultation and assistance regarding what fits your needs, and do so with genuine care. So after 5 years my X chair had a problem. No surprise I live in that chair because I have had back problems for years ( L-4, L-5 , S-1 for those of you who know about backs ) I called the store where I purchased the chair and Steve and staff bent over backwards ( no pun ) make certain things got fixed as fast as possible . I talked with the manufacture who was very cooperative and knew what was needed. Steve did all the coordination for parts delivery and sent DeWayne to do the repairs. If you ever have a problem with your chair get them to send DeWayne.......this guy is super , professional ,and really knows mechanics. I love my high-back LifeForm leather executive office chair. It cost a lot but the memory foam seat, back and arm rests eliminate so much pressure from the tail bone, back and arms that I can sit 8 - 12 hours working at the computer almost pain free I use most of the adjustment features to create the optimum ergonomic set up. The adjustable height is essential and it's also the first part to usually fail on office chairs. Because of that, I asked the salesperson if RTB fixed the hydraulics for free {at that cost they should) and he said yes. Six years later, in September 2016, it failed and I called for the free service. That salesman is gone and no, they don't fix it for free. I was displeased and told Jason on the phone what had been promised. He worked with his manager to make good on the original promise. They picked up the chair, fixed it and brought it back to me. It's a heavy chair and I don't have an SUV so I greatly appreciate them making good on a salesperson's promise to fix it. They personally handled the pick and delivery. I have purchased over the years the contoured pillow, the wedges for support in bed and the large ice sheet. The ice sheet helps me sleep on difficult nights. I will throw it on the floor for my old dog to lie on after our walks in the hot Austin weather. She stands by the freezer and waits for it now. I didn't buy my Real-Ease from this store, but I came to exchange it here, and while there, I inquired about the inversion tables. Steve was VERY helpful and knowledgable about them. As soon as I can afford that $800 bad boy, I'll want that, as I've spent WAAAAAY more than that on my back/neck problems already...no need to skimp on this. Steve definitely helped explain why that particular one is so awesome (it's pretty simple). Then, I also asked him about the Thera-canes (I already own one) and he explained that I've been using mine all wrong, and gave me an extra set of instructions and also a brief demonstration. I expected to continue using them for my all too frequent back needs. I've had pretty much every kind of bad service you can have at this store. I've gone in and been unable to get help. When I do get help the associates are both badly informed and have a bit of an attitude. And the last straw is that although I have bought stuff any way, if I have a problem after purchase, they have no interest in fixing it. read more

My wife picked out C-shaped travel pillow, but the sales person accidentally took a package containing the wrong model and sold it to her. My wife called the store and told her story. Within thirty minutes the correct one was delivered to our home. We have had an airline deliver a lost bag to our home in the past but this is the first time a retailer has delivered an exchanged product to us. Well, I couldn't disagree more with the 1 Star review. I have been to this store a couple of times now and a once was for a tempur-pedic bed. Not a small purchase and one we shopped around for. The service at this store was well above average. William was the one gentleman who helped us the most but the rest of the staff seemed friendly too. With the bed purchase nobody is allowed to discount it due to Tempur-pedic's rules, however they thru in a number of free items and sweetened the deal. As a person with chronic back and neck pain i took his advice and purchased the theracane. Soon after the THERACANE snapped in half while i was using it.
