Service was great, very friendly wait staff and we enjoyed the banter from one of the waitresses who we kept ordering shots from. A small but mighty restaurant in the heart of Germantown. Street parking only, so plan accordingly. My husband and I visited Friday night with plans to try their Fish & Chips. The Wisconsin girl in me spotted the cheese curds on the menu and we had to try. These curds tasted like home ... perfectly hand dipped in batter and fried. The fish and chips portion was MASSIVE ... I'm so glad my husband and I already planned to split it. Batter on the fish was crispy. The tartar sauce with the fish was flavorful. Have been here multiple times for food and drinks , from Wing Wednesday to Rib Thursday and recently trying their PoBoy and the food seems completley hit or miss. Lets start with cocktails, have tried only two since the menu is very limited, the Rum Diary is great, very tropical, highly recommended, but the Yes,Chef tastes mostly of Gin, not great. Beer wise - the menu is extensive, love the Gumbalhead. Now lets talk about food - there doesnt seem to be lots of quality control in terms of food. 3 Meat Sampler - taste wise very very good, but the presentation is poor. We really loved the brisket and the pulled chicken. You get 3 white foam containers of meat like you're getting take out. Ive never seen this at a BBQ spot before, they usually give you your assorted meat on butcher paper on a tray or something similar. Wings - very good, similar to most other spots that do smoked wings in Louisville. Hard to go wrong. Ribs - decent , depending on when you go you might get a nice couple of juicy ribs or some completley dried out ones on the same plate. Rib Thursday seems very inconsistant. Shrimp and Oyster Po Boy - this was what i was most dissapointed about, at $24 i expected a LOT. The bread was stale, the oysters were very "fishy" tasting which apparenetly means they were old or not preserved properly, there was barely any sauce on the sandwich. I cant recommend this at all, overall just bad. Tater tots - great, but they are just tots Overall I'd recommend coming here early in the day for Wing Wednesday and Rib Thursday so you get the good stuff, and definitely for beers only, this is not a cocktail joint. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to go to Four Pegs. From the outside you might not think much of the place and pass it by as another little local bar. However, they have some amazing wings, ribs, brisket, pork belly burnt ends, pulled chicken, & pulled pork. We ordered the Pegs Sampler as our meal to split between 4 of us so we could try a little of each. We added 2 sides of Mac & cheese and 2 sides of the Pegs Pickle & Brussel Sprout Slaw. That made for a very filling meal for all of us. I loved all the meats. I especially liked the Brussels Sprout Slaw. The meats came with several different sauces. I didn't have a favorite as they were all good. I will say, I wasn't a big fan of the Mac & cheese. I didn't think it had much flavor. That said, I will definitely be back. All day happy hour as well but only for 5 wings and IPA, well liquor and $1 off house wine! Somehow the server rang me in for 8 wings after telling me the wing special was for 5! No complaints though, I ate all 8 lol but just wish there was some clarification because I definitely would have loved 5 for $7.50 vs 8 for $16.50! Space wise, it's a crammed bar. It had smoked brisket, Mac and cheese, fries, and was covered in cheese and bbq sauce.The cost overall wasn't too bad for the area. The burrito was large enough to take home and we paid for an extra side each of chili beans. The cost for both us together was about $65 with the tip. I could see why the locals keep coming to this place. It is a really good barbecue joint in Louisville. Parking was kind of tight as there is no parking lot and you have to park on the street, however this is typical in Louisville and it was a Saturday. We dined at Four Pegs on Monday for a fundraising night for Germantown Baseball. First, love that this business gives back to the community! We arrived around 7:30 and there were a few tables, but it wasn't very crowded. We waited at the front to be seated, which took a few minutes. We grabbed a seat by the window. Again, we had to wait a few minutes before I went to the bar for a menu. I was advised there was a QR code in the bar menu, which we quickly found. We ordered several starters including the smoked wings ($14.50) for eight wings, the loaded nachos with pulled pork, chili (18.50), Mac n cheese ($6.50) and side of tots. We didn't wait long and our food arrived - nice and hot! Everything was very good. My only complaint was the chips included with the nachos, but overall they were loaded down with toppings. The wings were large and smoked to perfection! After we finished with the appetizers we decided we wanted to order some additional food but again it took a while for a server to come over. We ordered another basket of wings and pretzel and beer cheese ($12.50). There are a ton of options for wet and dry rubs for wings but our kids wanted to stick with the classic. The pretzel was normal sized with a large portion of beer cheese - we needed another pretzel to eat all the beer cheese. Overall we really enjoyed the food. We sat outside on a beautiful night, so lots of sweet puppies that made her happy. I had the mac & cheese brisket bowl, of course minus the onions. The brisket wasn't the best I ever had, but it was good. It was very tender would've liked a little bit more fat on it, but that's my own personal taste. The barbecue sauce was OK better than some didn't mix with the cheese as well as I'd like, but still is very satisfactory and I appreciate the bits of shredded cheese. There was a good deal meeting this bowl. I was very pleased with abortion.. she had a brisket melt with green beans. It's the same meat that I had but hers had beer cheese on it which she doesn't normally like beer cheese but enjoyed. She got a horseradish sauce on the side, but found that enjoyable as well and dipped her sandwich in it. She said her green beans were hot fresh crispy, and delicious. We had a rough start to the week, so a couple of beers and wings sounded perfect. Normally we'd walk to Goss Avenue from our house, but once my wife said "Four Pegs," I wanted to get there as quickly as we could, so we drove. This was our first time to the bar in almost a year, but it's a place that we have a long history with. I've been to Four Pegs at least a dozen times since 2019 when we started dating. I was living in Lexington at the time visiting my now-wife, and was craving BBQ. I forget if it was pork or brisket, but it was tasty. The next time we went, I ordered wings and was hooked! Over the past couple of years, however, the quality to me was inconsistent. Sometimes the wings were the best in the city and other times it felt as if we got the bottom of the batch. After the last underwhelming visit in 2024, we decided to take a break and give it another chance later. Well, that night finally happened. On this April 2025 night, the wings were incredible! I got their BBQ and Smoked Soul sauces and enjoyed dipping and dunking in both. The bartender saw we had a rough night before, and poured my wife a double Tito's. All the servers were friendly, and we ended up lingering much longer as we enjoyed the bar. There was a crowd, but not too packed. For a Tuesday night, the atmosphere was perfect. This visit was 5 stars, but I'm accounting for many meals over the past few years in my rating. We were able to find a parking spot along the street next to Four Pegs. We could chose where we wanted to sit. We decided to sit at the bar. Our server was friendly and helpful. We asked for suggestions on an appetizer. Our server suggested the smoked cream cheese and chorizo dip. It was flavorful and the house made chips were great too! We ordered the Smoked Seoul Wings and the Cajun Wings (with extra sauce). The Smoke Seoul were my favorite - slightly sweet with a little kick of spice and topped with pistachios (YUM). What a wonderful afternoon experience! During a recent visit to Germantown, the hubby and I finally had a chance to check out Four Pegs. The outstanding reviews that friends had given me about Four Pegs all rang true! Our visit was after the lunch rush and before the dinner rush on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted immediately on entering and we took a table in the center of the restaurant. I loved the vibe, an unpretentious, friendly, old-fashioned bar with emphasis on quality food and drinks rather than a kitschy theme. The bar has a beautiful antique wooden piece as a backdrop and although we didn't opt for any beer or spirits this visit, it looked as if they had just about anything that a person could want. The menu is small, as they do a few things and do them WELL. Their signature offerings are their meats- wings, brisket, ribs, barbecue, and chicken. We tried two wing varieties and ribs and OMG, I could have eaten until I got a raging case of the meat sweats!! They were all delicious and some of the best that I have ever eaten. I know that we will be frequent flyers at Four Pegs. I highly recommend that any local folks who haven't tried Four Pegs or anyone who is visiting Louisville drop by, you won't be disappointed. One star is being generous. Will note this is no shade to the servers , had good service! The food tho? Horrendous . Pork was slimy like a slug and the chorizo appetizer taste like how smoke feels when it gets in your eyes, or like an ashtray. For a 15$ appetizer it was so disappointing. I ate 2 bites that's it. Came to Four Pegs and was able to just walk in and pick our seats. Started off with an old fashioned smoked and my wife had a mimosa. Our waiter is awesome! Great energy and knows the menu! We both ordered the grippo wings and we had the Mac and greens for our sides. The Old fashioned is strong and good!!! So the food came out and it was Fire!!! The wings were cooked to a crispy perfection and had the smoked flavor along with the grippo taste. The sides were great!!! Didn't have enough room for desert.
