Super long wait to get in on a Saturday night- be sure to check In before you arrive using the Yelp app. The baked bree was good but cooled quickly and got hard- wish they would serve with crackers rather than toast. Delicious entrees and desserts! We have been here a few times and service has always been very good. The ambiance isn't the best (it seems like it was once an old Big Boy/Denny's or similar), but they have made upgrades and improvements where possible. The prices are high, but the cuts of meat and ingredients used are top notch. I also like that they have a pretty traditional menu without a lot of the nouvelle cuisine that other places are focusing on. (That isn't to say that they do not have delicious or unique items on the menu!) All things considered, Four Roses Cafe is on-par with other fine dining options in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. read more

Yes! I'm lucky this place is a bit of a drive otherwise I'd be eating here too often. Happy to see the Whitefish Grenoble on the menu - a carry over from the former Cafe Aries, sadly long gone. Bourbon salmon very nice. And the desert, the cake was soooo good. Oh if they were just closer I'd pop in for an afternoon coffee with cake. AMAZING! We went to Four Roses Cafe tonight, and everything was fantastic. The food was fresh, high quality, and cooked to perfection. Prices were very fair for what we got. We used yelp to get in line, and although there was an hour wait time, our table was ready for us when we checked into the restaurant. I highly recommend getting in line online since this is a highly sought after restaurant. We were told we couldn't pass up dessert, and they didn't disappoint. The food was perfect, and we'll be back to Four Roses again as soon as we can sneak away for another kid free date night. read more

I brought my wife here for her birthday based on a recommendation. We've spent the last 2 months traveling across the US from Texas so we have eaten out a lot. This was the best meal we had our entire journey. The steak was great the trout perfect and deserts are out of this world.I ask our waitress her schedule because she was so awesome we want to come back so she can wait on us again! The place was packed on a Thursday night so we just ate at the bar. It's a nice cozy atmosphere although a bit on the noisy side. So 5 well earned stars! read more

Many of us are given strong recommendations to try new places. I've been told, by many people, that I needed to try Four Roses. FINE! So my wife and I ate there on Saturday night. Fortunately I got in line on Yelp and timed our arrival well so that we did not wait. The place was packed and there were people waiting for a table when we arrived at 7:30pm - they close the kitchen at 9:00pm. It's not often that high expectations, based on other's experiences, are exceeded but we were thoroughly impressed with Four Roses. We couldn't have asked for a better introduction as Chuck was our server. "Server" is an understatement. His mastery of the menu and the kitchen preparation was superb. He made the night more fun and helped us with recommendations. I've never felt more at ease with trusting someone regrading what to eat for dinner. Make sure you leave room for dessert. We're typically not "dessert people", but we're glad we followed his lead and saved room. My sticky toffee pudding was excellent. read more

Outstanding food , staff, and welcome. Very good menu with popular entrees that are always there, items that rotate on and off and almost always something new to try. Good balance of meat, fish, and vegetarian/vegan dishes. A huge menu of house made dessert items, some common and some not so common, but all delicious. If you're in a group of say 8 people, order 5 different desserts and 8 forks and pass them around. It's a tasty way to end a great meal. 5 of their desserts are plenty for 8 people unless you have teenage boys with you. read more

Four roses has been one of our spots since moving here years ago from #Detroit. The steak is on point every time! the menu is short and sweet and every single thing we have ordered has been great. We recently spent New Year's Day here #2017 we did not order the #calamari as we usually do but got the #balsamic #stuffedmushrooms loved them. My husband and I visited Four Roses for the first time this evening. They came recommended and someplace we had been meaning to try. I am glad to say they met ALL expectations. I had one of the seasonal drinks "Tom's Christmas Manhattan," it was incredible. We tried the Bake Brie with Cranberry Coulie appetizer. The bread was perfectly baked and and cranberry was a great complement to the brie. I had the Tuna and my husband had the Corvina as the main course, both were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. For dessert we tried the peanut butter pie and the black top pie. As expected both were perfect! Service was spectacular, our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend visiting! read more

I always order there Ribs and will never order any thing else, they are truly amazing. The meat is sweet and so tender and just falls right off the bone, you could eat it with a spoon. Depending on the season, they switch up the vegetables served under the pile of ribs... but they are always roasted, flavorful and delicious. Bonus feature: DESSERT!! You'll be too full to truly enjoy (so get it to go) ...all of their 30 desserts are to die for.. especially the peanut butter pie! read more

The service and the food is premium cuisine. They have endless verity of pies and desserts that are out of this world. The location is a quiet little area around here right near where we live. They are out in an area where no one would expect to find them. The people in Plainwell don't have many options for a nice place to go out for an evening. Since my '16 review we have had frequent lunches and dinners here, and occasionally have stopped in just for dessert. If we are looking for a nice place to eat north of Kalamazoo, Four Roses remains at the top of the list. I don't think the quality of the food or service has ever disappointed. Clearly, as some have observed, the building seems dated, and it appears that some renovations have been made. But I still find the interior noise level to be the most bothersome thing. read more

When my friend and I first arrived on a Friday evening, we were told it would be 1 HR, 45 MIN wait. We cozied up to the bar to order a couple of drinks while we waited. A couple of seats opened up at the bar and the bartender, Chuck, assured us he could have us fed and out the door before our table was available. He also welcomed us to our new favorite restaurant. We ordered a couple of drinks off of the summer cocktail menu. I had the Bourbon Slush, which was amazing (and I rarely say that), my friend ordered another drink that she wasn't really enjoying. Chuck asked her what flavors she liked and he replaced her beverage with something that she loved. When I finished my drink, I was still hoping that the cold, rainy day would turn around to sunshine so I also ordered the Waborita - Four Roses' take on the classic margarita with Cabo Wabo tequila. Another perfectly executed adult beverage! I ordered the chili-rubbed flank steak with Gorgonzola cheese sauce served with rice and a pepper relish. My friend ordered grouper with Cajun vinaigrette also served with rice and a side of vegetables. Both of them were incredible! So much flavor and so well presented to us. Both plates were cleaned. After that, dessert was a MUST!! I mean it's what Four Roses was recommended to us for. Everything else was knocked out of the park, how could this not be just as incredible?! I ordered the Chocolate Mousse Cake and my friend the German Sweet Chocolate Cake. Because it was the Friday before Mother's Day, I did also order the turtle cheesecake to take to my mom. The number of desserts is baffling, and they are all executed to perfection!! All 3 of the desserts were mind-blowing!!! I will say my favorite out of them was the German Sweet Chocolate Cake, but that's like picking your favorite child. Overall, there aren't enough good things I can say about this experience. Rarely do I feel like I can walk out of an establishment and not have something that is lackluster about the visit. This has been one of the very best places I've ever been to!!! We had phenomenal service, food and drinks that were out of this world!!! Chuck was right! Four Roses Cafe is my new favorite place!! read more
