    Fish and Chips
    Kyle V.

Stopped in for dinner and walked out pleasantly surprised. The staff members were super friendly from the moment we walked in. I went with the fish and chips while others at the table had smothered chicken, shrimp, and my daughter had the kids mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was real and my daughter loved it. We all loved the seasoned fries and the server was raving about them. The only thing I didn't love was my coleslaw. The outdoor patio had a huge fire pit keeping it warm during the cold months but we opted to sit inside where there were TVs. We will definitely be back.

We're just sitting down at our table for dinner. This is the outdoor patio.

We had the best time here! Six of us get together every summer for our Girls' Trip, and we found this place. There's a restaurant with outdoor seating, plus a Biergarten out back. We had an excellent Bushwacker drink while we waited for our table on the patio. There were picnic tables, a live band playing, and the nicest people serving us! It was an eclectic crowd, and we loved it! The walleye dinner was great!

    The cove

We ate here for the first time yesterday. The appetizer was good. The bone in wings but they don't toss them. Either way they were good. I asked the waitress if The Cove was a fruity drink and she said it was. It was terrible. I advised I only like fruity drinks and asked her opinion she just looked at me and said the cove had grenadine in it. I ordered the wagyu steak with chimichurri sauce. It wasn't good at all. The chimichurri sauce tasted like grass clippings. I already put on my steak and I was choking from the awful taste. My husband said his burger was good. I just didn't have a good experience with the overall food. The atmosphere is quaint. Just the food isn't. It also didn't taste like a wagyu steak I usually order. Then we ordered a side salad which she forgot. Then we got our salad with our meal. She did have time to talk to locals but forgot our salads.

    Cod and fries

Good service but the Oberon battered cod and fries with cole slaw was VERY skimpy. When the server brought it to the table she said this is a regular serving, but they are making you more. When she served it there were 3 bite sized pieces and a handful of fries. Cole slaw was on the side. She did bring two small pieces of cod to the table a short time later.

    Fried pickles !

My husband and I were on our way back from car shopping and needed a little quick "us" time before picking up our kiddo. We wanted something tasty and in the area and found this sweet spot! We treated ourselves to greasy food, because why not? We ordered the fried pickles to start. Wow! I'm a stickler for these! They were salty but not overpowering and the crunch was perfect throughout each bite. They never got soggy. Next we had the Sand Bar burger, because if their name is on it, it's got to be good! The burger was cooked just right, a nice medium. It could have used a little more seasoning for my taste but it was straight up a classic juicy burger. The tater tots were so good! Some things just need to stay simple! I would be back for more to check out their happy hour and other menu items. They seemed to have a special every night, just ask your server!

At first glance, it looks like a small ice cream stand, but it's grown into much more. There's a farm stand, a catering truck, and a full menu that goes way beyond desserts. They serve breakfast all day, along with burgers, shakes, and classic diner-style food. When we went around 9:30 a.m. on a Wednesday, it was packed with locals, which is usually a good sign. The food really stood out. The bacon was easily the best part--thick, meaty, perfectly cooked, with a rich smoky flavor that tasted like it came straight from a local farm, not a package. The home fries were another highlight, with chunks of potatoes and long strands of caramelized onions that felt very nostalgic and homemade, like something you'd get from your grandmother's kitchen. The atmosphere is very old-school diner. Lots of booth seating, a counter where you can sit and order like the classic milkshake-and-coffee spots, and an overall cozy, small-town vibe. The service matched that feel too--the waitress was extremely friendly and welcoming. One thing to note: it was very cold inside. It was about 26° outside that morning, but I still had to keep my coat on while eating, which took away from the comfort a bit. There's not a ton immediately around it--just a gas station across the street and a Mexican restaurant next door (which was closed when we went), though there are a few more options a short drive away. Overall, Curly Cone is a hidden gem. It may look like an ice cream stop, but it delivers a full, satisfying diner experience with standout breakfast food and a strong local feel. Just maybe keep your coat handy if you're visiting in the winter.

I've got to say, our first experience was a bit disappointing, but I think this spot has potential with a few tweaks. Upon walking in the door, we were greeted with music that was so loud the bass was actually distorting. The lighting was also a strange mix, and there were sports playing on the television. The set up of the restaurant is really pretty cool, but I don't think it's a sports bar. I don't think it should be a sports bar. So the TV playing sports in this really nicely designed area looked kind of gaudy. If they want to sports up the outside section, that would be fantastic, but I think they need to keep it classy inside. Close the shades, take out the bright lighting, and replace that TV screen with a painting. Luckily, we asked if they could fix the music, and they did. The service here was very friendly, good kids. Sadly, the cocktails did not meet up to the expectations. I ordered a smoked old-fashioned, and the drink was kind of a reflection of the establishment itself. They smoked the brandy snifter that rested on top of the drink, but not really the drink itself. So the smoke did not transfer and instead stuck into the snifter. For food, I ordered a single serving pepperoni pizza with mushrooms. I got to be honest here, the price of this was a bit much. If it were an item that could be shared, sure, but this is literally a single serving pizza and they're charging $16- $17. The edges were absolutely chard black, but the pizza self is pretty tasty. So, like I said, I think this place has a lot of potential, but it needs to create its identity a little better. Also, they need to work out some kinks in the kitchen and behind the bar. I will come back, but it's gonna be a little bit.

The second time was pretty good; not too memorable honestly. This third time, there were good and less good parts. The service was pretty good; the waitress was attentive and calm, but it did take awhile to get our red wine glasses for dinner. We wanted a side of "fresh seasonal vegetables" which was $6 for 5-6 small pieces of asparagus; even our waitress admitted that was a bit weak and that she'd take it off our receipt, but she never did and I felt weird asking about it. Two entrees were the filet mignon which were pretty good and well-cooked, but very small in size (no more than 4 oz). I ordered the beef wellington special, which I had to send back the first time because it was clearly undercooked; the second one was slightly better and I think letting it rest longer helped. The service was just not particularly nice about me sending back the first wellington, even though it was clearly undercooked. The dessert was really good - mixed berry crumbled with delicious vanilla ice cream. I'm not sure that I will feel as inclined to come back again after 2 subpar experiences now.

At first I was hesitant because of the price, and it being biscuits, but they made me eat those words and more. It was like a large biscuit muffin top with jalapeño, cheese and honey glaze (I think) and it came with a white cheddar cheese sauce to dip it in that was outrageously delicious. For a guy who hates cheddar biscuits, I've got to say I'm blown away. My wife ordered the steak with fingerling potatoes and carrots. It was on the pricier side, but yet again well worth it. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the veggies were pretty good too. They had live music playing as well tonight. It was a jazzy kind of vibe and it didn't over power anyone talking or anything. The guy had some serious skill too. To top it off, we had some pretty killer service from everyone there. From the hostess taking our names, random servers walking around, and our fantastic server (I forget her name but she was blonde and worked upstairs and had a a really great attitude. The expo or food runner dropping our food off anticipated us possibly needing an extra plate and brought one without asking which was super awesome and ended up coming in handy ( I knew my wife wouldn't finish that steak alone) and she brought it without asking and was ready with a smile to get more. I used to be a GM (I hate when people use this saying but...) truly I know how hard it is to find good workers and the folks running it here seem to have it down. I come from a place where you have to drive 100 mi or more for average service. So seeing exceptional service is really almost too good to be true. I'd definitely stop in for a bite. It's worth every penny. We'll be back for dessert, they have seasonal crème brûlées!

I dined at TOG today for a business lunch and, unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing…read more At the end of our meal, I asked for a to-go box because I had barely touched my food. My guest and I spent most of our lunch talking, and I left with nearly an entire meal. About 20 minutes after leaving, I realized I had forgotten my box and immediately called the restaurant to see if it was still there. The young lady who answered the phone asked where I had been seated. I explained that I was at the very first table at the front of the restaurant. Within seconds, she told me there was nothing there. Her tone made it clear that assisting me was not a priority. Given that the hostess stand is located at the back of the restaurant and I was seated at the front, I do not believe there was enough time for her to actually check before dismissing my concern. After I sent an email regarding the situation, the hostess responded that she had walked through the restaurant looking for the box. Based on the timing of our phone conversation, I find that difficult to believe. In her response, she also stated that she checked with the servers after our call had ended, which suggests that no real effort was made while I was on the phone. What is most disappointing is that I am a regular customer. Today, I paid $56.00 for lunch for myself and my business guest. Between a server who was largely absent throughout the meal and the dismissive interaction when I called about my forgotten food, the level of service fell far below what I have come to expect. Everyone has an occasional bad day, but customer service is often defined by how issues are handled after something goes wrong. In this case, I felt dismissed rather than helped. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I do not plan to return.
