It wasn't busy, tons of seating. we waited about 10 mins and the two ladies up front wouldn't even said welcome, hello. i know they were checking out a customer but at least say HI. we went to the back to ask where we order or how to be seated. the bartender gave us info so we continued to wait. Was told we could sit at a certain table but she would be a minute to clean it up. 10 mins later we noticed a lot of sour face guests waiting for service and dirty tables everywhere. We left. This is our favourite place! The food is so good and so local and natural! The owners are just so great and the atmosphere so lovely! We come as often as we can even though we live 3 hours away! We had to drive my daughter in laws mom up to Muskegon today but knew we'd be ale to stop off here! The flatbreads are the best and the lavender fields cocktail... oh boy! The best ever! A bar/shop hybrid that offers high quality craft cocktails and some thoughtfully curated items for purchase. A great place to start off our weekend getaway in the area with cocktails on the patio and a delicious marinated olive plate. Huge list of really interesting drinks. All three we had were very full of flavor and refreshing. We wanted to try more but it was only 1 in the afternoon so had to pace ourselves - ha! Staff is super friendly, encourages you to take photos of their very Instagram worthy garden and igloos. The igloos were large and apparently well ventilated, they would be fun to rent for a larger group no matter the time of year! Cute boutique shop inside as well. Fun! Cute! Delish! I love how they have figured out how to run durning COVID. They normally have this cute shop in the front and in the back there is a bar and normally a table. With no indoor seating they have 4 igloos and some outdoor fire pits. We utilized one of the igloos for a Christmas celebration dinner and it was so cute, the food was great, and service was amazing. First, right now you have to pay to reserve the igloo and there is a minimum of $150 but, you can buy something in their shop if you don't hit the $150 on food and drinks. Their handcrafted cocktails were great. Truly delicious. They didn't have that overly sweet taste you can get and all of the drinks were very good. I liked the Experiment 626 the best but really all of the drinks we had were fresh and delicious. You can tell they put time into making all the ingredients. We ordered the charcuterie and some spreads which they make in house. They have a couple paninis and deserts they make in house as well. There are more items but I believe they are provided by another restaurant, those items were wraps and pizzas. The cheese spreads were smooth and SO GOOD. The charcuterie was pretty standard and I love me some good charcuterie. I would recommend it to snack on with a meal. The waitress was awesome. She had a great attitude, she was informative, she had great suggestions and she really made the experience a fun one. Inside their shop they have a lot of fun boutique things like candles, bath bombs, clothes, purses but the thing that caught my eye were these hand crafted cocktail kits. It's a mason jar filled with ingredients and you just add either water or a spirit if your choice and let it marinate, then you can make cocktails at home and the ingredients are reusable so you could get well over 12 servings. Also, it's right in the Main Street in Douglas and there is a bunch of street parking or parking along the side. It was super cute and especially right now I am trying to support as much local businesses as I can. These people seem to have really figured it out and it was a great experience. read more

this is the second time I have eaten at Coastal Society. the first time was a fabulous experience, as we loved the yummy charcuterie board we were served. I returned today with two friends, and wow... a very unusual brunch meal was served. we ordered the CHICKPEA SALAD... which was literally a gray bowl of chickpeas, three slivers of red onion and a dab of feta. it was quite a surprise to see a restaurant serve a bowl of canned chickpeas and charge 18 dollars for it. the waitress was certainly a sweet young lady, and the manager enthusiastically invited us back. perhaps this is a case of ordering gone terribly wrong, but a return trip may not be in my future. btw/it's quite difficult to eat an entire can of chickpeas at one sitting. read more

Food left a lot to be desired. Made the mistake of ordering the Chickpea salad. Was expecting more than a can full of chickpeas tossed with olive oil, a few crumbles of feta, and a bit of chopped red onion. The charge of $18 was shameful and I was sincerely embarrassed for the waitress that put the bowl down in front of me. She could tell I was in shock, and meekly walked away. It is true I am not a cocktail drinker and should have passed up on the restaurant for that reason, but I won't be returning in the future. I went here with friends last week and loved everything! The beet cosmo, lamp lollipops, ratatouille and fish husband got but I forget name) we're all interesting flavors mixed together! I was there with one other person for that mid-afternoon "experience" and while small plates and drinks were priced on the high end, the food was very good and the ambience was wonderful. The service was deep in question. We asked for the bill to be split and were told, "we are an experience, not a restaurant". I cannot tell you how many times our waitress/server or whatever the title (since they are not a restaurant), told us "it's about the experience" throughout the time we were there. It only became condescending when this was stated again as a reason the bill could not be split ("we are an experience, not a restaurant") BUT they will do it for parties of 6 or more? Hmmmm. And we were told by our server that "she just works there". I said that our "experience" with the billing should be shared as feedback but you know, what were we told? You guessed it. Too bad we won't be back because everything else was truly enjoyable. Any establishment in the hospitality industry would have made this right. We stopped by to check out this place this evening during a bike ride but unfortunately it was 6pm and they had just closed. We had a lovely conversation with an employee who reviewed all the COVID safety protocols they have in place and we were very impressed. We will definitely be back later in the week when they are open. Happened upon this business by accident. Inside it appears to be a boutique or women's store of some kind, but I noticed cute little tables, chairs and fire pits outside with a few folks having cocktails. When I walked in I had to ask "do you serve drinks here?" Six of us were seated outside and given menus for truly unique cocktails made from fresh ingredients advertised as grown right on site. We were actually on a waiting list for a restaurant nearby, so only had time for "a drink or 2". We were served by what i assume to be the owners, who were kind and helpful. They were not very busy and there was a musician playing guitar outside. A great vibe if you have time! I will say that you will wait quite a while for your drinks, and even longer for the bill. We had a wide array of various specialty libations, and the reviews varied from "excellent" to "ok, but I wouldn't get the same thing again." If you have plenty of time to kill and want something fresh and different, I'd say definitely check this cool place out. If you are in a hurry...come another time read more

We did have to wait a very long time after being seated for a server to take our drink order or even bring some waters. They only have a very limited appetizers menu (which is my fault for the misunderstanding). The biggest let down for me was I got very excited to see they had gluten free options for flatbread. I ordered one, and when it was brought out I realized I was paying for a very over priced tortilla. It also was missing some of the toppings it was supposed to come with. We had lu nch on a Saturday in mid September. Menu is "cute" but a bit odd as it is a small clipboard with 5 small sheets of paper (postcard size) printed in colored ink. Very hard to see if you are older or have a lot of glare like at noon on sunny day. First three pages are drinks, then food. We both ordered the food and an iced tea. The tea came out in small glasses.. like juice glasses. I asked for sweetener for mine.. perhaps Splenda or Sweet & Low. Waiter left... and and came back with brown sugar cubes.. "this is what we have" I confirmed that they did not have a sugar free alternative and got the "look" like.. I JUST told you that is what we have. He then said that he could get some Agave syrup and I said that would work. Food was very nice.. I had a salad and husband lobster ravioli which was good too. The TINY iced tea was gone in a couple minutes.. and it took forever to get a refill... and that was from another member of the staff.. the other was ignoring us... until it was time to bring the check. If you dont get a table.. seating is odd.. low low couches with a cocktail table. The couple next to us... a very healthy sized man (tall and over 250+ pounds) seemed to sink into the couch but his wife was fine. She sat on the edge of the couch and kept handing him food as they had a meat and cheese tray and cocktails. Nice location.. lots of people to watch. read more

Today we visited Coastal Society to celebrate my husband's belated 40th and an early Valentine's Day celebration as a surprise I arranged for my family. We reserved an igloo in advance for such a reasonable rate and Co-owner Kim was BEYOND accommodating in helping me plan it all out. I pre-ordered apps and drinks for both adults and kids, the igloo was custom decorated with birthday and Valentine's themes, and the team at Coastal Society were so lovely and attentive. My boys and my husband (and me!) all had such a great time, with kiddie cocktails and s'mores for the kids, and cocktails and charcuterie for us. Last but not least, the boutique was curated with unique and absolutely adorable items - from Instagram worthy candles, jewelry and gourmet snacks to functional, stylish and high quality apparel and workout gear. We are so looking forward to returning to Coastal Society and incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to support this amazing and very special locally owned business during these very difficult times. read more
