There was an issue with water but the Ranger assigned allowed me to hook up to the next site that was vacant. The resort is not the most beautiful I've been too but they do have full hook ups and plenty of space on each site. There's is also plenty of room to walk and hike. Plenty of entertainment for the kids.

Everyone from the employees, the management, and the current seasonal guests all have ambitions to make this RV park even better than it already is. This was by far the laziest housekeeping people we've ever encountered in our lives -- instead of taking the requested dirty towels away and replacing them, they left everything on the ground and just dumped a pile of towels on the sink. Additionally, they barely made the beds -- the sofa bed was ignored while the main mattress' sheets were all touching the ground. Only the kids bunks got remade properly. We passed other rooms and it looked like they actually made the beds, so we probably got assigned the world's laziest person. Food: buffet food is meh. Restaurant food a step up. Stick with dunkin' for breakfast. Ice cream not bad, soft serve is large portions. Mirror maze was basically all broken. Only 2 things really worked when we went in, by the next day only one worked. Pay dirt (mining gemstones/fossils) was a high value activity for my kids - extra worth when you have the 25% discount. Water park is tiny and cold (there's a few small hot tubs), but has a lazy river; slushies standard ICEE brand, mini golf is sad (only like 7 holes maybe). Kids had a ton of fun at the candlestick bowling -- there's a bunch of game modes to try. Only worth if you get the unlimited. Magiquest was 4-6 hours of running around fun and defeating monsters. Wands and attachments are all upcharges from standard. Mostly can only access up and down with elevators so when one is out of order it takes forever. We didn't experience anything outdoors bc of rain.

I had to check with the front desk multiple times to get the correct package we actually did pay for. Parking and unloading is a nightmare. You can arrive early to use the water park, but then you either have to leave all your bags in the car half a mile away because the parking lot is horrible - or bring everything into the lobby and have someone from your party sit with it (more likely stand for 2+ hours because there's not nearly enough seating to accommodate everyone). I was charged the entire total for the stay immediately upon checking in, plus the $200+ I put down when booking the trip. A couple hours later a random $396 charge appeared on my card statement. The charge was nowhere to be found on my GWL bill. I spoke with the front desk and was told that sometimes the system randomly places authorizations on cards, and they're trying to fix it. But in the meantime, feel free to charge any additional purchases to the room, and it will just come out of that authorized amount and whatever is left over, plus the initial booking deposit will be refunded "eventually." The rooms are nice, as long as you don't require sleep during your stay. We stayed 2 nights. The first night there was a loud banging sound coming from the room above us. It went on until around 2am. It was also mentioned to the front desk and we were told to contact them if it happens again. Same thing happened the second night. Sent a text to the front desk, they sent security to investigate. The noise eventually stopped again around 2am. A couple hours later it was replaced by a loud hum/vibration that started and stopped randomly. Didn't bother reporting this one, decided to work on my review instead since sleeping wasn't as option. The water park is fine. Overcrowded and way too many band aids floating in the water, but my daughter had fun. We also pointed out the band aids but shockingly that wasn't taken seriously either. The food is adequate but way overpriced (luckily we already had that mysterious $400 authorization to cover it). Highly recommend not buying any food package and either bring your own or leave the lodge and eat somewhere else. This was our second trip here. Last year we came around the same time and had a completely different experience. Not sure what happened, but this trip has been one headache after another. I've never been as excited to check out of a hotel and drive 2.5 hours home as I am right now. 1 Star is far too generous. Negative stars.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the vibrant atmosphere that felt both family-friendly and tailored to adults. The water park was a huge hit with our two girls, offering a wide array of slides that catered to all ages. Whether it was the thrilling rides or the relaxing wave pool, there was always something to keep the whole family entertained. One standout feature of our trip was the food. In previous resort experiences, we've often found ourselves disappointed by the dining options, but Kalahari shattered those expectations! The variety and quality of meals were truly exceptional. From quick snacks and Starbucks coffee, to gourmet meals at one of their multiple restaurants, every bite was delicious. It was refreshing to find such a diverse menu that pleased my wife, the kids, and me. We also appreciated the thoughtful layout of the resort. It was easy to find comfortable places to relax, and while it did take some hunting , we did manage to find a table each day. When I passed the check-in 2-hours later... The line was very long and the same person was working. They definitely need more people there. I went to use the ladies room after checking in and it was extremely dirty. The cleaning cart was there with no attendant. Went to the indoor waterpark which opens at 10 AM because it's raining outside. The outside was closed. It's the usual indoor waterpark nothing special. The Jacuzzi. Where can I begin? It is an indoor outdoor Jacuzzi. Meaning, you can go straight from the inside through a passageway into the outside. On the inside section.... Only 3-lame-jets were working. PACKED With kids. Outdoor section NONE of the jets were on. I asked the "lifeguard" why the Jets were not on. He said do you want them on? I asked him if he knew the difference between a Jacuzzi and a pool of hot water. He said he would turn them on ... he never did. I cannot emphasize enough, how many children were in there. From a few months old to pre-teens. Horsing around.... I scooped this one girl up that was about to drown 4-years old. She was allegedly being watched by her 12-year-old sister. Her mother was so grateful. Why is the mother not watching her own 4-year-old? I am appalled by this Jacuzzi experience. Hey Kalahari.. Do you think you can have something just for adults? Do the kids not have enough activities to enjoy? No? Do you know how "unhealthy" A Jacuzzi is for children? They have these rules for the kids in the Jacuzzi. Nobody is adhering to those rules, not even the lifeguards. What lifeguard? Jacuzzis are for adults!!!!!!!! We had the buffet for breakfast. We arrived at 11 AM. They close at 12 noon. It was $30 for adults. And $20 for kids under 12. By the time we got there It was slim Pickens. You should not charge me the same amount as everybody else who got more variety before me. Was not impressed with the buffet at all. On the upside. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Except of course, for the lifeguard who doesn't know the difference between a Jacuzzi and a tub full of hot water. And most importantly, is not adhering to the rules setforth for children in the Jacuzzi. I saved a kid from drowning today.... He should be fired. We will be checking out tomorrow at the prescribed 11 AM. I will add to this review at that time.

Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

But he made it back inside, and rest of us stayed in the raft going through the intense rapids with water spraying everywhere and beautiful scenery around.

This was disappointing since there was nobody there to enforce the noise curfew or the amount of people and cars that show up for one camping site. At least I know that the "strict rules" they list on their site are only a suggestion. I would go back again, but only if my camping party was a rowdy bunch. I could not see this place being too kid friendly when it was busy during the summer months.
