I purchased a used gun here and took it to the range. The gun jammed up after every shot. I brought the gun back and was told they could only put the gun up for sale on consignment. They would not give me my money back or store credit. They also told me there would be an 18% charge for selling the gun. They are going to try to sell this defective gun to someone else. I told the sales person that is just not right and he shrug his shoulders. I was never informed i was purchasing a gun that was under consignment or had never been tested or shot prior to going up for sale. I bought my first firearm at Four Seasons and have been going back ever since. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. They also have a extensive inventory of new and used weapons, tons of ammo and various other accessories. The only drawback is that due to the time required to do paperwork and a federal background check they don't have time for idle chit chat not related to the topic at hand. I never felt rushed although doing one's homework on line prior to walking in makes things much smoother. Just about every time I go in I hear the staff explaining to a first time buyer about things like recoil, arm fatigue, etc to ensure their first exposure was a good one. read more

I am sure this is a great place, I'll never know. I called on a Thursday to try and make an appt to purchase a new firearm -- was told to just walk in, no appt needed. When I got there on Friday there was 6-8 standing waiting in the parking lot. I don't have 1/2 a day to waste standing in a parking lot. Good prices and decent selection. Be VERY careful who you deal with and do your research long before entering. I was sold the wrong ammo for a .22LR pistol When I went back, I was told "no refunds on ammo" and that the person who sold it to me (along with the .22, BTW) was "not knowledgeable" about that fact. Now I have to burn through the wrong ammo to get rid of it, as you can't sell ammo on craigslist (sarcasm). And on top of that, the pistol has some misfire issues that they wouldn't really assist with when I brought it in.. Otherwise, a decent gun store. Ammo prices are through the roof as the panic buying has cleaned out the inventory. Buy only .22 and 9mm as other ammo is special and very $$$. I have purchased many guns, ammo and shooting accessories from Four Seasons over decades and was pleased with the service. In recent time I found the staff to be trite and dismissal with me as a customer. I was recently seeking a shot gun that was not in stock. The web-site said to call for availability. I tried calling. The person who picked up the phone didn't even indicate it was Four Seasons, he just said Hello. All he gave me were one word answers. I physically went to the store. I was quickly told there was no list to be put on, just to keep checking the web-site. I ended up buying the shotgun at the Gun Show. I more recently called to ask about the availability of Voquartsen target pistols. Again the person who answered was of no help and gave me the bum's-rush off the phone. Again I went to the store and gave one of the sales reps the info on the Volquartsen Black Mamba TF-6 I wanted. He took my name and number and said he would call me after he called Voquartsen. I waited weeks and heard nothing. I called the store again and asked to speak with Carl the owner. Carl told me he would check into it and call me. Again I received no call for 3 weeks. I called again today and was told Carl was not in. I asked if her would be in later. He said I don't know. I asked if he would be in tomorrow. He said he doesn't have a schedule. I understand that they have more business than normal, but that won't be forever! So...when the tide turns I will go out of my way to do business with a gun shop that wants my money and I will talk this experience up with all the members of my gun club and the pistol league that I compete in. read more

Four Seasons is a great shop . I know there's not many shops around the North Shore but these guys are one of the best ,if not the best however there is a lot of people in the shop when you're in there it tends to get crowded that's my only negative about the shop .besides that the customer service is great you feel very welcomed not bothered like other shops. it's just very loud and tight, close Corners in there which during the pandemic hasn't been the best for social distancing This is still my go-to shop I wish they expanded the store a little bit. read more

Five stars. No doubt. Finally made it after reading reviews and researching. It was crowded as you would expect on a Saturday. Took a number and was helped within 10 minutes. None of the condescending or know-it-all attitude that is often found at gun shops. I'm getting back into shooting after a two decade hiatus and they couldn't have been more helpful - had the ammo and gear I needed and was checked out in under 15 minutes. The inventory is vast and the knowledge they have is deep. I overheard multiple customer interactions about a variety of guns and equipment, and all the employees were engaged, intelligent and helpful. Went to Four Seasons on a recommendation from a friend in which the business was very fair on trades towards a new gun. Had an unshot Walther PPK that I bought for $800. They offered me $400 for it. So I didn't sell. I bought a new handgun from them and I was held on my background check for six days. When I went to pick up the gun I saw the background check and the notice to proceed came back the next day. I called after that date to see if I could pick the gun up on the weekend. They told me on the phone "If we haven't called you then you have to wait until the pick up date." I had approval the day after I bought the gun. But, I had to wait because it seemed no one at Four Seasons wanted to check. I will never shop there again. read more

A perfect gun store. In Massachusetts, no less... These guys had a used revolver that I was interested in, based on what I saw on their (well run) web site. I've been in a few times and know enough not to come in on a Saturday, especially if I'm uncertain about what I want to do and need a few minutes of quality time with a used piece, before I jump. So I came in lunch time on Thursday and while business was brisk it wasn't the mob scene you get on weekends. I was able to take a good look at the revolver, and bought it. Took about 35 minutes, and during that time I had a pleasant chat with the owner and staff. These guys know their stuff, about their merch and how to efficiently process the requisite paperwork and background checks. On your end: - Know what you want. - Have your LTC in hand. - Know your state PIN. - Time your transaction well. I downloaded Yelp to write a review. I remember this shop as a kid when my dad used to drag me along to all his firearm runs. Now that I'm an adult with an LTC, my dad told me there's really no other competition in MA for good deals on firearms; and I can see why. Four Seasons updates their inventory online with details on each deal. From what it looks like, their site is updated frequently. The selection of firearms is fairly diverse which I can appreciate. The lines can get long on the weekends, but can that really be considered their problem? They have an easy but thorough process of purchasing firearms. Background checks and license verification is very reasonable, and the deals are hard to turn down. I've been following a specific firearm for a long time and was given recommendations from an associate that not even I thought about with all my research. With the savings I had from Four Seasons, I was able to pick up another new firearm at least $200 off full market price. And optics ready! Ammunition is also very fairly priced. All in all, I had a really good first time purchasing experience and I can see why it's fairly hard to compete. read more

They've usually got a good supply of ammo at somewhat higher side prices, great selection of glocks which is nice to see in MA. Best part of Four Seasons - they update their used gun supply on their website and it is accurate, up to date, has prices, etc! Its great to see something put on their site and run over and be able to see it... unlike some other area stores that don't update their site when things have sold, etc. A few more sales people, or some way to figure out who's next rather than have people pushing and shoving and ignoring people and you've got yourself a better shop. read more

I love Four Seasons and have missed it ever since I left Mass. Their prices are AWESOME- better than I've ever seen for a retail store anywhere. When I lived in Florida I would look at their new gun prices online and sigh. In a state where you can't order ammo online Four Seasons has always kept its ammo prices pretty reasonable. The owner of the store is an awesome guy, as are MOST of the staff.* You can even bring your dog inside! *There are a few staff who are a$$holes. Unfortunately in the world of retail gun sales even the best establishment has a few angry asperger-nerd types. These folk will always act like you are bothering them and that your presence is preventing them from doing something more important. Just smile at them and remember that they spend a lot of "alone time" in the mildewy basement room they rent from their mom. Here are two solutions to dealing with these people: 1) totally ignore all the shit they say and buy what you want; and or 2) watch the employees for a few minutes before stepping up the counter. This place has poor customer service. Very poor!!! Our firearm (that we purchased at Four Seasons) went out for repair. Repairs were to take about 2 weeks, and we would have our weapon back. Not the case here...... after a month we thought something is wrong, maybe they lost it, are they backed up? whats going on here? We called Four Seasons every week. No one would give us a straight answer. We were told, our weapon was not back from the manufacturer yet and if it came in they would have called us, and when it does come in, they will do just that - call us. They made it very clear that they would call us, in such a rude tone and manner; as if they were annoyed that we called every week, and with no straight answers wouldnt you call every week checking in on it too? So after 3 months of calling Four Seasons, them telling us that the weapon wasnt there, and that if it was they wouldve called us right away... after 3 months of them sounding annoyed and aggravated that weve been calling almost every week, we decided to call the manufacturer to ask why the weapon was taking over 3 months to repair. They told us that it was sent back to Four Seasons just a few days after they had received it. In short, Four Seasons had our weapon the whole time. They said 2 weeks, but it actually only took 11 days. So... for almost 4 months they had the weapon. Every time we called, they had the weapon. What happened to "we wouldve called you if we had it." or "we will call you when we get it". they never called us when they received it back. but yet we called almost every week for over 3 months and not once did the person we spoke to go check to see if the weapon was there. what did you put us on hold just for the hell of it??? count to a minute while "pretending" to check? if a customer calls almost every week looking for an item that they purchased from you and you say 2 weeks and its 3 months later, do you not call the manufacturer or place you sent it to, to check up on it. you guys just sit around all day and if they dont send it back oh well fuck it, dont bother to check into it or anything, you just get annoyed when the customer calls looking for their firearm that you actually have in the back but are too lazy to go check so you say its not there? that is completely unacceptable, & very unprofessional. 1 star because the owner or the person in charge apologized with a free box of ammo. he did the right thing by doing that. you should take care of your customers - especially if something like that happens!! check out Collectors Gallery Firearms located at 89 hancock street in Stoneham. theyre far less crowded and busy and the owner is a wonderful guy! he took care of us the very first time we came in. Let me start off first by saying I am not a gun nut. I need to carry for my job and view guns as a tool and not a hobby......I also don't think the zombie apocalypse is upon us either. That being said I've been going to FS for over 10 years now. The owner Carl as other reviews point out, is a great guy and honest as the day is long. I'm a little dismayed at some of the reviews saying the customer service is poor. I have never had a bad experience with the guys behind the counter, ever. They don't talk down to you, don't act like soldiers of fortune and most importantly, don't rush you through your purchase. The real issue with FS is that it's a small shop and in the last couple of years has become REALLY popular. This results is a very cramped shop with people literally bumping into each other. It takes it toll on the customers and the staff. People get grumpy in those conditions. They are a victim of their own success and good reputation. But other than expand, what is Carl to do? It doesn't matter how many people they have behind the counter if the floor space can't accommodate the number of customers. My best advice is to go there early in the morning during the week. If you decide to go on the weekends prepare yourself to be very annoyed. read more

Carl, the owner, really does seem like a decent guy. That said I've never received "great" service when going to Four Seasons. It's the sort of place where you really need to know what you want when going in. It's not the sort of place that's going to work with you or work to inform you. The entire vibe is they've got no time for you if that's what you need. If you know exactly what you want and they've got it, take a number, wait your turn, ask for it, and lay out your money. "Next!!" That's FS in a nutshell. The shop has always suffered from what I call a "captive audience" issue. They are not busy because they are a particularly great place shop or a pleasure to buy from....they are busy because in some respects they are the only game in town. This is not conducive to customer service and enables them to completely ignore reviews like this and the others like it. (It's a nice problem to have as a shop owner I imagine.....but it sucks to be on the receiving end of that.) This has only gotten worse in recent months with all the talk of new legislation and the subsequent panic buying that's been occurring. Their website has fallen out of date and cannot be relied upon for accurate inventory information. Meanwhile, their front counter staff has entered into what I call the "shell shocked" phase where don't even pretend to be friendly or interested in your desires as a customer. Not their fault in some ways since you are undoubtedly the 100th person that day to ask if that Kahr PM9 is in stock or when they expect to get more S&W M&P's but sorry guys....this is the work you have chosen......and like it or not.....it's the customer service business. If you need a MA compliant pistol you can't find anywhere else and they happen to have it then prep yourself for a completely lackluster buying experience and go get it. When I need ANYTHING else, including accessories, ammo, long guns or anything else that does not require that I transfer it to a MA dealer like FS guns I'm more than happy to make the effort, get over the state line, and get some decent treatment in exchange. MA gun laws are very hard on the consumer and lot's of gun stores are more than happy to take advantage of that. I did not get that feeling at Four Seasons. Their prices are great and their website stays fairly up to date. The staff was extremely busy on the Saturday I went there since they aren't open on Sundays and Mondays. I wish they were open on Sundays. They have blown away every local gun store in that area on gun prices. As I write this, You can buy a Ruger 10-22 for $190. or the takedown for $280. I came to buy a used Shield 9 for $299 but was disappointed as they were sold out. Ended up buying a new shield for $380 as it is still a competitive price and I already spent the gas to get up there. I wish I can remember my sales guy's name but either way they all seemed pretty nice. It can be hard to get help on saturdays. Sometimes you have to take a number. I'm not going to knock any stars for a business that is doing well, getting the job done, and trying to keep their overhead low to keep the pricing reasonable. Good job guys! read more

The staff is knowledgeable but not very nice to deal with. The owner is amazing though. They have a good selection of guns that you can't really find around the Woburn area. The largest I've seen around Ammo is fairly priced and usually almost always in stock They do have a reputation of selling sub-par/broken used guns and not being on their game getting them fixed in a timely manner. Probably one of the best gun shops that i've been to in the state. Customer service is always top notch and they always had an abundance of different firearms and accessories. Pricing is pretty much untouchable compared to other shops. Their ammo pricing is usually a couple dollars cheaper per box so I don't mind making the ride to save my self some money when buying by the thousands of rounds. I've made one firearm purchase here and that was a breeze but recently went with a friend who decided to purchase an HK p30sk. That experience which I wouldn't say was terrible but our salesman had very minimal knowledge on the gun. He didn't even know how to break it down which made me raise an eyebrow. He had to call over a fellow co worker who was very knowledgeable in the HK department. I suggest that the ownership here to train their staff on all their products as its not really a good look when you don't know about the product you're selling. This wont deter me from coming back, I would just ask for specific staff who knows about the brand before proceeding any further. They have an online website that you can check out deals on new and used firearms. They have a database that you can search through their selection of used firearms and is updated very frequently. If theres a certain firearm you want, go check it out before popping in the store. Site always has new items being added. read more

It's far from the one stop shopping of Kittery or LL Bean but if you're looking to pick up a new firearm start your price shopping with Carl. Pros: +Terrific pricing on firearms and usually lower than LL Bean (Freeport, ME), Kittery Trading Post (Kittery, ME), Bass Pro (Foxborough, MA), and Cabela's (Kittery, ME?). +Terrific customer service - Carl's great with first names and has mine memorized even though I shop there less than once per year. +Great pistol & revolver selection +Locally owned Cons: -Small, literally - I'd guess it's 1,000' sq feet at best. -Bad pricing on ammo -Can't blame a man for needing to make money somewhere in his shop. -Understaffed on weekends. The store feels cramped and you usually have to stand in line to be helped. -Limited accessories, virtually zero hunting supplies -Limited long-gun selection in stock FSG is great for browsing pistols but their long gun selection is pretty limited and basically special order only. Kittery Trading post is the opposite - they have a HUGE selection of long guns. I've purchased three guns at Four Seasons. I have to admit my first purchase didn't go so well. It feels a little bit like a cattle call on Saturday. So many people you have to take a ticket like you're at the deli. I ended up purchasing a gun that wasn't right for me because I was a newbie and was rushed. On my two subsequent purchases I had great experiences. The salesperson answered all my questions and when he didn't know the answer he found someone that did. I wasn't rushed and ended up getting a great deal on both guns. I went during the week when it was much less busy than a Saturday. The prices at Four Seasons are great and there selection of handguns can't be beat in the area. I'm a fan and will be heading back. I had the pleasure of meeting Carl on my last visit. Having just gotten my LTC, I did my research and chose a Ruger 10/22 rifle for my first purchase. First I went to Roaches on Mass Ave in Cambridge, which I can't complain about. The guys were nice enough, they had a decent selection of rifles and pistols, and it wasn't crowded at all. Still, I saw that my choice of rifle was $50 less at Four Seasons, so I waited and went on a Thursday when they have later hours. The store was packed, as it was the Thursday before the tax-free holiday. Me and my friend (who is still waiting for his license) checked out their selection of long rifles, and not finding anything that jumped out at me, I decided to go with my original plan and purchase the Ruger. Having never purchased a gun, and as I haven't shot regularly since Boy Scouts, I waited in line and spoke to Jeff. He was thrilled at my selection, told me he had received a Ruger 10/22 from his father in the 70's, and had never had a problem with it. He walked me through everything on the rifle from muzzle to stock. I left confident in my purchase and glad I'd gone. Not only did I get the rifle I wanted, Jeff didn't try to sell me any crap I didn't need (although he did point out the scope and bore-snake when I asked). He was honest about both the strengths and shortcomings of the rifle (ie, don't think you'll be hitting much past 100 yards). I appreciate the time he took with me and will definitely be returning when I get a few more paychecks to pad my account. Also, you save 2% on purchases if you use cash, check or debit. read more

I've shopped at FSF enough and have loved the experience. Everyone is great there, you just need to wait your turn. My best advice is to wait for a pause in conversation, then ask if you can be assisted when they are finished. Any negativity about the comes down to this: The other customer got there first You will get great service once you get someone They will ignore other people while they help you I've only purchased one firearm there so far, but will again. I was trying to find a particular Benelli, which they are not a dealer of, and they suggested a few places that I could find one. I highly respect them for this, because they could have tried to sell me on a Mossberg or Remington (which they do carry). I've bought a ton of ammo here, and they tend to have good prices on that too (not walmart NH pricing, but they have more/better options). The website is a bit dated looking, but they keep it up to date with new arrivals. Once you get talking to someone, they will answer anything you ask, and can give you a lot of great advice. I've been here a few times and have always been amazed at the sheer amount of customers in such a small place. At first I was turned off, but I realized that people move in and out quickly and they do a decent job in helping you out if you have some patience. The store surprisingly has quite a bit for its size and on Saturdays you will see a large staff working to help keep things moving. Pricing for this store is actually quite competitive these days in contrast to a lot of other stores. I have routinely found that their pricing matches or surpasses many stores (in the case for some other local stores, they don't come close to matching Four Seasons). If you're shy or freak out with a lot of people, it may not be your store. However, it's always interesting to pop your head in and people watch - for some reason I enjoy people watching there (not in a creepy way) to see the guy in a suit, the girl with a fancy purse, the new kid that just got his license and everyone else. read more

My absolute favorite firearms store in MASS. I have over 50 firearms and more than half of them were bought at Four Seasons. I have been shopping here for years and have never been disappointed. I believe their service and knowledge of firearms is why they are the busiest gun store in MASS. Jimmy Flynn is their armorer which has given me excellent tips in firearm maintenance. Carl is the owner of the store and is the most honest salesman I've ever met. He will give you his opinion of a firearm even if he does not think that highly of the gun. Their websites is constantly being updated and is very accurate. When I put one of my firearms on consignment, it was on the used gun page the next day. Four Seasons Firearms' claim to fame is having one of the largest volume of firearms sales in the state. They have a wide variety of rifles, shotguns, and pistols. They also have a wide price range, so there is usually something for everyone. One thing that sets Four Seasons apart from other gun shops is the website. Most establishments have websites these days, but nearby competitors have very limited sites often only including gun brands they have in stock, but not the actual model firearms. At Four Seasons there is a lot more interaction. They have separate pages for new rifles, new handguns, used guns, and a whole page dedicated to Glocks, which are increasingly difficult to find in MA. In addition to these, they have pages just for ammunition and deals. When I met the store owner, I complimented him on the website, and he expressed a lot of gratitude, explaining that he works on it continually each week to make sure it is up to date, and indeed he does update it often. I have purchased two firearms from this shop, and I have been pleased with both. The first was a S&W M&P .40, one of their currently most popular handguns. It came with 3 magazines, a right-handed holster, and a speed loader, it was very reasonably priced. I saw the deal on the website, so I went to the store knowing exactly what I wanted. The saleman was professional and polite, and did a speedy job on my paperwork. When I brought some fancy hollowpoint ammo to the register, he pointed out a different brand of JHP that was much cheaper, and came with twice as much ammunition. Since he was cool about it, I bought both! When I added my John Hancock to the paperwork he exclaimed, "You're a Southpaw! We better have the gunsmith switch the safety on your handgun to the left side." This only enhanced my experience. The second trip was for an AR-15. This time, I knew I wanted an AR-15, but I wasn't sure what model exactly. The website showed a few that, in my opinion, were very low prices. Add a 2% discount because I would pay by Debit card and that's one affordable AR. I arrived at the store and it was quite busy. When I finally got a salesman to help me, he was a bit gruff, and hurried me along. He seemed annoyed with me when I asked to see a few different models, and gave me a funny look when I asked to see the HK-91 on the wall, even though I had no intention of buying it. Can't blame a guy for wanting to hold a prime example of German engineering, right? I did complete the transaction, but this was a much different visit from my first. You'd think when you are about to drop over $1000 you'd get consistently good customer service, especially if you are a repeat customer. This second visit was the reason for my 3-star rating. If he had been as great as the first guy I saw, probably a 4-star. High ammo prices and long waits to wrestle a salesman to yourself will always take away at least 1 star from this shop IMHO. I drive 65 miles to buy firearms from Carl. More than once he's gone out his way to help me. Case in point. I bought a Springfield Armory XDS from him. Two days later Springfield Armory was giving away 3 free magazines with a firearm purchase. He contacted his sales rep who mailed three free magazines to me. With my first purchase I bought a Beretta 92FS directly from Carl. He had pre-ban magazines available for it and I purchased 2. When I got home I was kicking myself for not buying more.
