My family has gone here over the years and when it came time for my sisters bachelorette party this was on the list to check off. After doing some digging I discovered that they had the options to fit a party of our size and the cost didn't break the bank. We stayed in Cabin 14 and I can speak that the cabin has been completely redone (not because of us). I had the opportunity to see some of the recently remodeled cabins and they are excellent! The owners of the property are fantastic! They are so warm and welcoming! Only downside is there isn't really a beach, the shoreline is rocks so there wasn't really a space to get into the water.

Back then a good resort cabin was one where the screens weren't ripped and the screen door closed to keep the misquotes at bay. Boy things have changed. Scott and Beth's Otter Tail Beach Resort is nothing at all like those resorts of my childhood. I stayed in one of the smaller cabins and it was modern, clean, and very functional. There was a nice complete kitchen area, a TV, and a nice shower right in the cabin. The woodwork and detail was awesome. In some ways the cabin was nicer then my house. When I'm in the area again, I will definitely stay here.

The kitchen table had been covered with some kind of vinyl paper with pieces missing off the top creating holes in it. The kitchen floor was warped with 2 large holes in it, creating a safety hazard for tripping. The towel bar in the bathroom was coming out of the wall. The bedroom & closet doors were extremely difficult to open on the carpeting. There was only 1 room key for 4 of us who stayed there. When I asked for additional keys was told they didn't have any. There wasn't any bedding for the 2 futons we were going to sleep, & I had to call & ask for them. I gave a list of items that needed repairing upon checking out & requested a partial refund. The only staff member ( who seemed to be lacking in good customer service skills) also wasn't able to print a copy of my receipt & said it would be emailed to me, but I never received one. She said the owners would get back to me. Even after sending several emails, & more phone calls the owners never bothered to respond back to me. I have done extensive traveling & stayed at all different kinds of lodging in North & Central America & Europe but have never encountered a room that had so many things wrong with it, for the price I paid.

Nor is there a swimming pool. But they offer many other things. Free cable T.V. with a lot more channels than I expected. A coffee maker, mini fridge, and a microwave was provided too. The towels are thick and our room was kept vey clean. Also the beds are comfortable. I slept like a baby. It had the look and feel of a cabin. Which we both loved! The lady we dealt with, owned the motel with her husband. She was a wonderful hostess!!!! We couldn't thank her enough. If I'm ever in Wadena again, I'll make a return trip to the Brookside Motel.
