I'd taken my external hard drive into a local computer shop (Newport County Computer) and was told…read morethat the data on it was not recoverable. After doing a little research, I decided to call a few other computer shops. Russ at First in Service was incredibly friendly, thorough, and helpful in explaining his recovery process while also explaining that there was no guarantee that he could recover the data. I decided it would be worth the 25 mile drive to have Russ look at it. He called a few hours later, shortly before closing on a Friday just to say, "I wanted you to be able to enjoy your weekend knowing that it looks like I can successfully recover everything." A few days later, he had copied all my data onto a new hard drive that is working perfectly. If I run into any computer problems in the future, Russ will be the first person I call!

The service request executed each time, on multiple different laptops, across multiple years, mirrored one of the range of possibilities - and timelines for each possibility - laid out after his initial hands on assessment. Service is well priced and billing for services rendered always aligned with what was quoted for that service and any necessary replacement. Beyond all that, there's the trust & peace of mind you feel that you're dealing w a straight up good dude, who will treat you right. Can be tough to get that in this space, and similar, like a good car mechanic. On my way to Russ, I travel by quite a few service providers, large and small, on my way from southern RI to Swansea I'd not take my laptops anywhere else. Absolutely "First in Service".

My iPhone screen was shattered, I had the manager Bruce help me, he was perfect and fast!!! I walked around the mall for 30 minutes and came back to a fixed phone looking amazing!!! Thank you Bruce for your help and service I will recommend you to everyone... The price was perfect also and they had a special going on I got $10 off because the Patriots won the Super Bowl

I then brought the phone back four separate times to have this problem repaired. Throughout the process, it became evident Mr. Fix really didn't want to keep trying to fix his flawed screen installation. Instead he tried to sell me a protective case b/c as he stated, "the new screen was not likely to ever adhere properly". Mr. Fix then told me that they have not been able properly install new screens on Motorola phones and that the manufacturer uses some laser guided gluing process that could not be done by him. I then asked for a refund and he refused. So, I called the owner (Agil) of Mr. Fix & Customize. After some heated verbal debate, he offered to refund my money only if I allowed them to take the screen they improperly installed off my phone leaving me with a disassembled phone to have repaired by someone else who could fix this phone properly. I offered instead to bring the screen that he installed back once I had the screen replaced by someone who knew what they were doing, but he refused this as well. There is a reason why they offer only a 90-day warrantee on their screen repair - it is going to fail. The service manager knew Mr. Fix could not properly fix Motorola phone screens (and probably many other brands too), yet he never once mentioned this when I brought the phone in for repair and paid him up front. The botched repair and refusal to refund my money is bad customer service. The fact that he took my money for a service he knew he could not provide constitutes fraud. "Broken screen replacement" is the first thing listed on their business card leading one to think they could successfully do this. Perhaps the screen that is now peeling off my phone is considered the "Customization" by Mr. Fix & Customize. Better yet, maybe Mr. Fix should stick to "Customizing" phones by selling protective cases and leave the "Fixing" to someone who actually knows how to do it.
