Our whole experience with Foust was great from start to finish. Matt showed up when scheduled and had an estimate ready a couple of days later. We have a small refrigerant leak on one of the brazed connections. It's been 3 weeks since they said they'd call me back regarding their workmanship warranty. Still waiting. This was a new unit install 4 years ago and it was like pulling teeth to get them to come out on time. We've been losing refrigerant at least a couple years when their tech said the pressure was a little low during a tune up appointment but just told us to monitor. The A/C finally quit cooling this summer. I don't take writing a negative review lightly, but there are other companies out there with better customer service. read more

Terrible company with zero integrity. You'd be better off starting a small fire in your living room as a source of heat vs. relying on these crooks. Foust was subbed out from our GC a few years ago to install a new HVAC system for the remodel of our cabin. Not sure who recommended what in terms of the type of system, but ultimately Foust installed a ducted mini split that wasn't suited for our snowy climate, nor was it applied properly. Unfortunately I had no idea this was the case and have been foolishly replacing/revamping everything else in our home, in an effort to mitigate our insane electric bills that have been averaging $1K/month during the Winter season. This for a 1,250 sqft home with propane fireplaces. Fast forward to now, after installing solar panels on our property as a last ditch effort to reduce our energy costs, when I finally realized that the only constant has been our HVAC system. After contacting several reputable companies in the area (Comphel and Waters), it was confirmed that not only was this not the right kind of system for our home, but the manner in which it was installed and implemented was borderline criminal. Terribly inefficient choices and lazy execution. I gave Foust an opportunity to make it right (since my GC is no longer in business), and their owner, Matt came out for his "expert assessment". Based on his body language and demeanor upon arrival to our home, it was painfully apparent he had no intention on hearing anything we had to say, and already had his mind made that the sole responsibility fell on me and our former GC. After some back and forth and repeated dismissals of our concerns, he ultimately slipped and flat out said "this system is not the best choice for Winters in this area, and it's going to be operating at max capacity during those months". Finally, the truth!! At this point my wife chimed in to give her perspective, while he stood there with a condescending grin plastered on his smug face, and things finally fell apart when he called my wife and I "a joke". My patience had completely worn thin by then and I loudly escorted him off our property, with several expletives to send him on his merry way. His response, exactly what I'd expect from someone that treats their customers this way and calls a woman and mother a joke, he took his phone out and began recording me. No problem you juvenile LOSER! Consider yourself lucky, and a word of caution to any other crooks out there, you steal money from my family and insult my wife on our property - you'll get the same response if not worse. So, Matt, go ahead and post that video or do whatever you'd like with it. Play it on a loop in your office for all I care. Makes no difference to me. It's only going to further highlight how terrible of an operator you are and how little you care about your customers, that you'd actually insult them enough to be yelled off a property. We have worked with countless local businesses since moving here and every single one of them would gladly work with us again. So now, we'll be taking our money elsewhere and will likely have to spend several thousand dollars to fix the pis* poor job that you guys did. A zero star review would be a compliment. Four years ago when I purchased my home, I called to have my heat/air checked for any problems. Matt checked the unit, and cleaned it stating it was in good shape. I also had him replace the wall thermostat to one that was easy to read and set. Fast forward to last week, I called and requested a check up on my heater to make sure all is good. I was told a service could take place sometime that day. No more than 20 minutes later the truck pulled up! Jesse came in, and checked out my unit and did some cleaning/maintenance and very nicely changed the time on my thermostat. Beware of Foust Heat & Air! They installed a new HVAC system at our vacation property in Groveland, CA. We ordered the unit in August 2021. We were told that due to the pandemic they would need to order the unit. Understandable. Foust never called with any updates on the unit. I made monthly calls to find out the status. I got a phone call in October stating the unit had been installed and they wanted payment for the balance. They did not schedule the installation with us, and we scratched our heads as to how/why they could do that without us being there. The office staff is useless. I asked several times for the size of the air filter to use, and no one could find the answer. After a month I was informed that they never changed the filter because we they didn't have access to the interior. If they would have made an appointment with us, we would have been there, and the air filter would have been changed and size noted. Who installs a new unit without replacing the filter? Once they have your money, they have no interest in you. Don't do business with this company, you will be sorry!!! read more

I would rather pay more and go with a different company. They didn't show up the first day because they forgot to put it in the calendar. Then they rescheduled a month later. My wife lost out on a days work because of their mistake. They did not offer a discount for the inconvenience. When they did show up they brought the wrong size unit so they had to go back to the shop to pick up the right one. This part is understandable, it happens, but because of everything else it did leave me wondering if they quoted one size and installed a different size. Be very specific in your quote with them. There was a hole from a old a/c unit and the quote read put in existing hole. It didn't say do the finish work inside the house. That was their reason for leaving the inside the house the way they did. I understand i need to paint but your really not going to insulate and put some drywall up? We even have that stuff around the house it would have cost them nothing but a little time. The product they installed does work well and comes with 3 year warranty on parts and a year on labor. read more

I just had such a bad experience with Foust Heat & Air and will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. They put in a new zoned system for me a couple years ago so I hired them again 3 weeks ago to fix a leak coming from the condensation from the A/C that is pooling in the garage ceiling. They came (time was "between 10-3" and they showed up just before 3 but did call when they were on their way) and replaced a small section of pipe and told me it was fixed but to wait 24 hours to run the system so the glue could dry and charged me $240 including a $115 service charge because I'm out of area. Fine, I knew about the service charge ahead of time, but when I tried the A/C I found that my thermostats weren't getting power so I couldn't run anything. According to my Nest app, power had been out since they left. I called them and they said they would be back the next day (again between 10-3) and I wouldn't have to pay the service fee. I called them the next day at 2 when I hadn't heard from them and was told it was a scheduling error (blamed it on the new girl) and since they only come to my area on Thursdays it would be a couple weeks before they could take a look. Finally they came back (again "between 10-3" and this time they showed up just after 3) and quickly found the problem was that they had accidentally hit a switch and turned the unit off when they left last time (it's in a dark corner of the crawlspace above my garage - hard to see and get to). Then they wanted to charge me for the service including the area service charge! I called their office to clarify and said I absolutely wasn't going to pay more because it was something they caused. The woman at their office kept insisting everything worked when I left and I must have done this somehow (half the reason I had to hire them in the first place is I can't get into the crawl space myself) and they were at least going to charge me the $115 out of area charge. I still said I refused to pay for their error and finally she said they would take it as a loss. And the next day after running the A/C for an hour, the original leak is still there! read more

The men of this company are nothing but pleasant. This may seem like a sexist review but it's the furthest from it. JC, the "office manager" & woman in charge is combative & rude. There were some hiccups, but everything ended up working out thanks to Matt. The company itself isn't a bad choice, the customer service could use some serious work on the office end... I had used this company in the past (knew family). The last time was to determine (and repair) my aging heating system. The tech looked over the unit and determined an electrical component had gone bad. I was told that the unit may be able to be repaired, as parts are hard to find. Of course, it was suggested that I look into a new system. A little expensive. I asked the tech if he could find the needed part. I paid him for his service call with a check. He did call (left a message) to say he found the part; it would cost $200.00 plus installation. Wow! Yet cheaper than a whole new unit. I did my own investigation and searched for the part. I found the part for $75.00 and installed myself. Their markup was over 75%. Now, I'm no dummy, I own my own business. A 75% mark on on parts is outrageous. It's been about two years and the component I installed continues to work. However, this did not end my issues with this company. This past spring I received a call from their office. I was told that they never received a payment for a service call. They were not talking about the one describe above, this was for a service call on my A/C. I told the caller that I never had a service call from you. As a matter of fact, I did call and request an inspection of my whole HVAC system; yet never received a return call. The caller argued and got a little miffed with me. I told the caller that they need to have their tech show me proof of the visit. To bolster my argument, I told the caller that I would have never requested to be billed, I would have paid for the service on the spot. And, that I ended up using another company. Later I get two calls (left as messages) from the owner asking me to give him a call. After the first call, I made two attempts to return his call. When I received the second message left; I once again got voice mail. But this time I left a message. I told him that if he was calling about the so-called unpaid invoice, I was not going to pay for service I never received. If he could prove [it], I would gladly pay his invoice. I ended my message with a berating of the service I (had) received from his tech in the past. I would not use his company again and would not recommend. He never called me back; nor sent me an invoice proving his claim. read more

Final update 2/22: The system was installed and we've had some time now to put everything through its paces. There were complications with the ductwork under the furnace (water leaking from the drain pan into the ductwork) and also in removing the old furnace from its closet (it was glued in and it was a tremendous struggle to get it out). The Foust crew was professional, cheerful and friendly and dealt with these issues as they arose. The heating and A/C has worked really well so far with no issues. One follow-up email to Foust seeking information about the best air filter for our unit did not receive a response and it has been difficult to find information online. Our thanks to Matt and his team for seeing our job through to completion. Update 6/22/21: Matt and his team have started communicating frequently and clearly about our installation. We really appreciate this. Apparently the furnace in our original bid is unavailable and there is no clear timeline on when it might become available. Matt was at our house today looking at an alternative plan of attack. Unfortunately, our original 6 week installation date is likely to be pushed out another 7 weeks at the earliest. This is frustrating, but at least we have a better idea of what's happening. Synopsis of our original review: Great first contact, reasonably priced bid. After dropping off our deposit, we had a lot of trouble getting answers from Matt and the front office regarding the details of our installation. Calls were not returned for weeks. We were told around six weeks from the date of our deposit, but we were never put on the schedule, which was very frustrating to us. Further, in our multiple attempts to get answers about the installation in subsequent days / weeks, we had a lot of trouble getting answers to our questions, and we were never informed that there were any problems or delays although we frequently brought up the 6-week estimate for the job. Matt and his team are clearly great people and know their stuff. In addition to the crush of demand during the summer months, it seems they have been struggling with staffing and other concerns during this time. A lot of frustration could have been avoided with more consistent, clear communication. Hopefully things are trending this way. read more

We just purchased our home and we had to have the upstairs AC unit recharged. We scheduled our appointment, and Foust kept us up to date on when our tech would arrive. He went right to work, and not only charged the AC system but walked me thru filter care, and other tasks I could perform to keep our units in top shape. Took time to double check the other unit as well. This was particularly helpful as this is a Kilmaire unit which has 7 individual systems in the house and differs from a conventional unit. Great tips and info I would not have had otherwise. Going into the next 7 days of 100 degree+ temps with a lot better peace of mind. After 10 days, we didn't hear from him and called his office. Left a message with his answering service. No call back and no quote. I called a week later & left a message, again. Same thing: no call back & no quote. Called his answering service a third time and, again, the very same thing. We received three other quotes and hired someone to do the work. Have no idea why he'd waste his time coming over. If he can't do it or doesn't want to, just say so. Of course, we found someone else to install the central heat & air. read more

Unreliable!! I had spoken with Matt prior to him coming out and giving me a bid. I told him that I had all the units to install a split system in my home. He came out did a quick walk thru and on July 8th I received their estimate which I felt was reasonable so I gave them a deposit. Since the weather was super hot I was not able to book a day for the install. I called in August and I was told that they could not do anything until September/October?! So I waited til the beginning of September and called them back and I was then informed that they couldnt do anything until October/November..I was pissed that they kept putting me off. Every time I called them the gals in the office referred to me as "that girl" which I immediately figured out why. I was that girl that had her own equipment. SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL I knew they were trying to get out of the bid. If Matt didnt like doing "jobs like this" he should have never bid on it. His delay put me back to square one. NOT COOL read more

I'm not going to hound a company to please send my estimate over. If I'm already having problems with getting the estimate I don't want to know how their quality of work is.
