    New thermostat
    Soquel V.

The technician was able to come out the next day. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He fixed our AC and offered to put in a new thermostat, which he had on him, as ours was very outdated. He inspected our ductwork and went under the house, which is a very tight space that other companies have refused to do. We need all new ductwork (which we knew; ours is like 50 years old) but he didn't make it sound urgent or pressure us to do anything as if he was just trying to make more money. We are very satisfied with them and will definitely give them our business again.

Our new registers from Hometown are quieter and have much better airflow delivery than our 1980's registers.

We've had our new HVAC system for about two weeks and what a wonderful improvement this is. We're so glad we were referred to Ryan at Hometown Heating and Air Inc.! He listened to our requirements and delivered the right system for us. Of course, we got consults and quotes from other companies, but Hometown was the winner on price, service, and quality. We read up on the actual HVAC unit Ryan suggested and it's ranked as the best. We also appreciated how Ryan at Hometown and his crew delivered on time, did quality work, and had professional, pleasant attitudes the whole time. Moreover, Ryan understood our complaints about the old ductwork and issues in our 1980's tract home and completed his plan to solve each issue. We're glad we went with Hometown because they have excellent prices, units, and materials, along with skilled craftsmanship and friendly service.

Ryan and Justin from Hometown Heating and Air arrived almost an hour ahead of schedule. They washed out the condenser and recharged the air conditioning unit by adding refrigerant. They provided friendly and efficient service. I also learned that the blades on the heat registers could be bent so the the cool air flows straight down instead of at an angle, pushing the cool air across the ceiling where the air is warmer. I was happy to support a Modesto business. Thank you!

Nathan showed up and was amazing! Unfortunately our system was not so great and basically died completely. Nathan tried everything he could but the situation was out of his hands. He quickly called the office and within an hour had Zia at our home to talk new systems. We were not expecting to need to purchase a new system and were pretty short on time, but Zia was amazing and explained everything in a quick manner. He answered all questions we had, and found the right system for us. Zia worked so fast that he was able to secure us an installation date for Friday of that week and not make us late to pick up our kids from school. Since we had to replace our roof last October, I had questions about how to not compromise our roof warranty with this work being done. Zia was once again amazing and did everything he could to explain everything and even 3-way called me and their roofing company so that I felt confident in what was going to be done. Today (Friday) Timothy and his crew showed up right on time and got to work. Took about 6-7 hours to take down and install. Cleaned up really nicely and answered all questions we had. Even a silly question I had about filters. Overall this experience was as easy as possible considering the situation. Let's face it, replacing an HVAC unit is not cheap by any means, but Nathan, Zia and Timothy's crew really helped make this unfortunate situation a little easier. Thank you Loves Air!

I recently discovered the rooftop unit had no filter installed inside it -- even though there's a dedicated slot for one. Three months ago, I called to let them know I had already changed the indoor filters myself. I was just being courteous, thinking I was saving them time. Not once did they explain that the rooftop unit also needs a filter -- or that I had options depending on the system's static pressure and setup. That's basic info any professional should offer. What's worse, when I had a second opinion done by a trusted HVAC tech, he found a large tear in the ductwork -- something that likely had been there for years. This company had been called out before to check that very issue, and they failed to catch it. Why? Because they never performed a proper static pressure test or thorough inspection. They just show up, do the bare minimum, and leave -- but still charge full price every time. And in commercial service, they know most people won't question it. This kind of neglect doesn't just waste money -- it shortens your system's lifespan and increases your long-term repair costs. Be careful. Ask the hard questions. I scheduled an appointment, and Carlos R. was there at 8 am Friday morning to check my AC. HVAC systems are complicated but they are also a big investment, and so I wanted to understand everything and Carlos R. patiently explained everything and answered all of my questions in a straightforward and honest manner (I had a small amount of AC knowledge and also looked up some things after the visit). It didn't make sense to repair it as so much of my system was obsolete, and so I ended up deciding to proceed with a new system. DeHart dropped off a portable AC for my bedroom so that I wasn't miserable during the heatwave over the weekend, and the DeHart crew came early on Monday am and installed everything while I was at work--they were careful with my house and I came home to a clean and air-conditioned house. Carlos R. came back a couple days later to close the loop and answered my questions on how to use the system, the warranty, the maintenance, the permit process, and the rebate. The whole process has been seamless, and the fact that Carlos and DeHart are clearly so detail-oriented gives me a lot of confidence in their long-term quality of service.

Very Disappointed With the Service and How This Was Handled…read more I purchased a new A/C and furnace system from Honey's Air & Solar around 2022-2023, expecting that buying a new system would mean reliable equipment and good customer service. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. About a year after the installation, in 2024, the system started leaking from a flare. Honey's came out, repaired the flare, and added Freon. Since then, I've had a friend who owns a local HVAC company replace my air filter every six months and check the system, so I have continued to maintain it. Around July of this year, I noticed water coming through the sheetrock around the furnace. I removed the filter and found that it was wet. I also noticed condensation on the copper lines, with water dripping onto the filter. The bottom of the filter housing had filled with water, causing damage to my drywall and the surrounding area. I called Honey's Air & Solar to explain what was happening, and instead of feeling like they were interested in helping me figure out why a relatively new system was leaking again, I was accused of neglecting the system and essentially told it was my fault. They eventually sent out a technician, Chris. He couldn't find an obvious leak at the time, but told me the system appeared to be leaking again and that he needed to add Freon and dye so they could hopefully locate the leak later. I was told the service call would be $89 plus the Freon, which came out to around $122. I was also told they would need to return to locate the leak. Then on 8/1/26, I received a message from Marina saying that my $12.99 service plan payment had failed. I was confused because I had never knowingly signed up for a service plan. When I questioned it, I was told, essentially, "You signed for it, so you did." The way this was communicated came across as very condescending and rude. If I had been properly informed about the service plan and what I was agreeing to, I may have considered keeping it, but after that interaction, I told them I didn't want it. Now I'm being told that just coming back to locate the leak will cost $725. And if they determine that it's a new leak, I'm being told the repair could cost more than $2,000. This is what I find extremely frustrating: this is supposed to be a new system. It has already had a leak in the past, has been maintained, and is now leaking again and causing water damage inside my home. I will give Anthony, the service manager, credit for offering to cut the leak-search charge in half. I appreciate that gesture, but I'm still left wondering why I'm facing hundreds or potentially thousands of dollars in costs on a relatively new system that has already had problems. My biggest issue isn't simply the money. It's the way this situation has been handled and the feeling that the responsibility is being pushed onto the homeowner rather than Honey's standing behind the system they sold and installed. If you're considering purchasing a new HVAC system, I strongly recommend asking very detailed questions about the warranty, service plan, leak repairs, and exactly what costs you could be responsible for if something goes wrong after the first year. At this point, I expected much better from a company that sold me a new HVAC system.
