Dino's As with most changes in ownership, the inevitable metamorphosis has begun beyond the claims and beliefs of being able to remain the same. Staying the same requires resisting desires to make it your own, which is where the transformation begins. What was, was the vision and passion of the former ownership, their heritage, recipes, flavors, ingredients, processes, skills and experiences, all make up the "what was", that can't be duplicated and therefore will be replaced. A simple cause and effect as increasing the griddle temperature by a few degrees to produce food faster may seem innocent enough however, it changes much. Take breakfast for instance, increasing the griddle temperature, now instead of the tender perfectly cooked egg once produced by the loved previous cook, you get a crispy edged, incompletely cooked albumen egg, and that's assuming the yolk didn't get broken [as received] in the process. Or perhaps the hash, it takes time to produce the crisp crunchy edges that add to the enjoyment, not heat. Increasing heat can [and did] produce a sheet of nearly burnt fat and overcooked to nearly mashed potatoes, instead of the enjoyment of the crispy blend of individual bits of meat and potatoes that defines hash. Changing products, if it's an upgrade, that's good, it shows a priority to the customer and not to cost. Example, previous breakfast patties were soft, tender, and flavorful, now, well let's just say I think I have shoes with thicker leather than the current flatten product choice and quite possibly better flavor and texture, which suggests the a priority to the latter. Knowing changes will and have to occur, choosing which change to make can be telling, for instance, the choice to reduce portion sizes [though might be a good thing for the excessive Americans] over price increases will always be debated. The staff and customers offer favorable comments to additions to the menu, which of course can be a plus, draw attention, and potentially increase patronage. However, if it's simply doing the same as every other restaurant, it's not really special, no passion, just copycatting. Hopefully, they will be so wonderful and different, they will stand out from all others. But I doubt it, the additions have been done by so many, so many ways, they would have to show a display of exceptional culinary skill, one that I don't see here. Best to focus on mastering the basics first, such as toasting bread virus warming to make toast. I write this only to neutralize the possibly of any unrealized expectations. Dino's as it was, is gone, slowly morphing into what it will be. Not bad, not good, simply different. I will continue to patronize, as it's still a good place for a meal, however, probably not as frequently, for now. read more

We went there in late 2025 before it was sold and the food and prices were great. Went there on Valentine's just to find out the price on the same thing we ordered before went up 10.00 dollars. The ham and cheese stack sandwich was supposed to be heated, but only toasted the bread.(Cold ham and cheese). My husband got his usual cheeseburger and fries with a drink. And I got coleslaw and a drink with mine. We were shocked when it cost 37.37 . We paid back in November 23.00+. I don't think we'll be going back. read more

Came here for the breakfast and stayed for the strong coffee! That's my biggest pet peeve with diners. The coffee is normally fairly weak - not at Dino's!!! The coffee was strong and the food was delightful! Perfect cool on the egg and great flavor ham steak! This one will go on our list to visit again. read more

The omelette was very delicious. Ham, Grilled Chicken and Swiss go well together with hollandaise sauce overtop. It's also really good over the hash-browns! Rye toast is good. The service is really good here. Everyone works together to get food out, refills done. The building itself is rather rundown and needs a revamp. New floors, walls, countertops, tables chairs. Everything seems outdated and is kind of a "turn off" for the restaurant. I get it's an old fashion diner, but you can still do that and make things new and look nice. Always pass this place when I leave my neighborhood. The parking lot is full a lot so I knew I had to try it. Something about a diner makes you feel at home or you're a regular. Once you walk in there's a display of dessert. I'll have to try it next time I go. Just here for breakfast this time. We were seated right away and our server was really nice. We definitely beat the after church crowd bc it got really busy soon after. Our food came fast as well. Coffee was a bit weak. Corned beef hash is one of my fav dishes and once I saw it on the menu I had to get it. It's the good kind. Greasy but delicious. Bread with butter. Hash browns are shredded so the good kind. Dino's is quickly becoming one of my favorite local places to eat breakfast for me and the family. It's a no non-sense, no-frill old school diner. Standing on a lot by itself on a large strip-mall, you can't miss the building and the sign from one of the busier local intersection. Not a huge building that hosts 20-or-so tables plus a counter with a few more. The few times I was here weren't too early so I'm not sure what the early morning traffic looks like, but the beautiful thing about these great diners is that you usually will find the wait staff to be uber efficient. Dino's wait staff are definitely efficient. The other thing that a few other Yelpers also mentioned is the fact that their portion size is "normal." Rather than shoving a large portion of food onto your face with a hefty price, they serve just the right amount of food you can (and maybe *should*) have in the morning without needing to take a doggy bag. I was surprised to see how much cheaper everything on the menu was on my first visit, but quickly realized that the portion of food was proportional to the price tag. Since then though, I've come to appreciate this about Dino's. I was *just* talking to my brother about how it's insane how you can get a nice breakfast meal for 5 bucks, when even your favorite fast food place combos come closer to 10 bucks. We were looking for a place for lunch and thought let's give Din's a try. Nothing popped out of the menu as something we'd like. Decided to have a nice breakfast. We ordered eggs over easy, toast and bacon and a three egg omelet (three meat), home fries and rye toast). The food was ok, but the bacon was overdone (like it was warmed up) and the toast was soggy like it was reheated. In fact the butter wouldn't melt. The interior was kinda cute like an old time diner (clean and tidy). The waitress was nice and service was great. Maybe since we were there at 11am we shouldn't have ordered breakfast. Don't expect avant garde culinary masterpieces at Dino's, but, they DO have very good food. When eating lunch, I'm usually in a hurry. No problems here. The service, at the lunch counter anyway, is always fast; I'm in and out in 20 minutes. Chili, pop and BLT/fries for 9 bucks. Good food, fast service, good prices. Hidden gem. It isn't a fancy place but it had good food at great prices. My daughter and I went there on a Friday eve. She had a salad with grilled chicken and I had a bowl of chili with a half sandwich of tuna salad. Simple but all tasted great. We finished with a piece of cookies and crème pie which was fantastic . I made another stop at Dino's for breakfast. As usual, my coffee cup was kept full and the very friendly owners came around to make small talk. What wasn't usual is this: I took a chance and ordered their Eggs Benedict. I'm not saying that I expected anything less than delicious from Dino's, but I've ordered Eggs Benedict at a few other establishments in the area and the eggs have either come out over done and hard or the hollandaise sauce has been from a packet. Not this time - they were perfect! Nice runny yolks, buttery/lemony sauce - delicious! Dino's definitely gets four stars for consistency. Only frequented for breakfast. Breakfast is breakfast, kinda hard to mess up. However, good execution is the key to success and your dining pleasure will be greatly influenced by the cook on duty. In all fairness, I haven't been there in quite some time for reasons other than service, ambiance or the cooking, but I will say that they did have a cook once that couldn't seem to mess up my breakfast if he tried, even if he closed his eyes and used one hand. I'm sure he's gone by now as I see signs of cook wanted in their window often. You can also tell when they're missing a cook by the mediocre meal you get, that's when you may notice it's the owner stepping into the roll. Cooks like an old military cook, yuck. read more

I stopped off here for lunch on my journey by car from Montreal to San Francisco. It wasn't my top choice but I couldn't find the other one I tracked down on Yelp and decided to take a chance. As mentioned, they have a board which mentions the specials of the day at the entrance. Most of their customers appeared to be regulars and old (average age maybe ~55, more than twice my age). I sat at a stool and got to watch all the action first hand. Afew things stuck with me despite the stopover taking place 2 months ago or so: tasty bread selection for sandwiches (I went with rye), dynamite potato tots, small glass of juice (thankfully grapefruit juice was served though to mix it up) and the owners worked there rather than hiring others to take care of business. Everyone was friendly and I chatted briefly with some regulars. The big downside was that the tuna in the actual sandwich, the meat of the sandwich so to say wasn't that great. Too sweet and tasted funny. As others mentioned, this is symptomatic of their food being simply average at best. Perhaps a regular could let us know what they usually order (assuming it's the best Dino's has to offer?). Good for a quick stop but if I were a local this would be my 1 and only stop here. read more

One of my first memories of Dino's is leaving the place with my grandparents, who were in a huff because Dino's was serving shoe-less hippies. True story, and - yeah - I'm getting on in years. Seriously, our family ate here at least once a month while I growing up, mostly on our way to and from Put in Bay. I can still taste the spiced apple rings they served with their ribs and steaks. I know, I know, this isn't a current review as much as it is a stroll down memory lane. But I'd eat here again in a heartbeat, if nothing else for the nostalgia. read more

Dino's is one of those great American restaurants where the waitress still greets you with a smile & calls you "honey". They have a great menu of American & Greek dishes, and breakfast is served all day. When you walk in, you will see a sign board right by the door that features their daily specials as well as soups of the day. All the soups are homemade...the best beef barley soup I've tasted in this area (thick, meaty & yum!). There's a good variety of sandwiches, entrees, salads & Greek specialties. I like their patty melt (with or w/o bacon) and beer batter onion rings. Desserts are also homemade daily-you have to try the rice pudding, warm with whipped cream & cinnamon! They're in the Golden Gate Plaza in Maumee, off of the Trail & Conant Streets (in front of the old Pharm-now Rite Aid). read more

This place used to be Don's Drive-In for years. I'm guessing all the patrons remember the good old days of Don's. Chicken parmigiana was pretty decent for a diner. The sauce was thick and they used the thin noodles that I like. The chicken was a good quality piece. Green beans were right of a can with a spray or two of butter. Applesauce came right out of a jar, salad right out of the bag but what do you expect?. Ended our meal with a cherry pie alamode. The service was great. The food....no. First of all, pancakes should not go on the same plate with eggs and ham!!! Especially when they are topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Which brings me to the pancakes. Gross. I should not have to cut pancakes with a knife. Also, i felt bad because the server who was cashing everyone out at the same time, also had tables to wait. She didn't ask how anything was, just seemed she had her mind on something else. It would make life easier if the servers cashed out their own tables and brought slips back to their tables. My fiance and I love Dino's. We just went there again recently and I wanted to review it because I never have on here. We always go for breakfast and it's never disappointing. It's cheap, delicious, and a good atmosphere to eat in. We've never had a waitress we don't like and even the patrons are really friendly. It's just a very nice and friendly environment to be in. I want to like this place, I really do. It is the type of place that I'm guessing 98% of the customers are regulars and know everyone there. The waitresses seem to be plucked right out of the 1970s via a tear in the space-time continuum. A classic diner. Having said that, the food was extremely average. The type of food that makes me think, "I could have made this exact thing at home". And that isn't a compliment. I left here feeling like I just stopped at home for lunch and made myself a mediocre meal. It actually reminds me of cafeteria food. Long story short: not terrible, but you can do lots better. If you are just plain bored of everything else in the area, give it a whirl; maybe I stopped by on a bad day. Actually, I hope that is the case, because I generally like this type of diner. read more
