Food was great. Lots of talents on Open Mic Night. The Bandana Brothers were my favorite. Keep an eye out for Sauter and Koda Jackson! These brothers blew the crowd away with two incredible songs and some seriously impressive guitar work. Sauter even celebrated his 16th birthday on stage, proving he's a star in the making with a voice and stage presence that commands attention. Fox & Locke is the most classic southern food restaurant I've been to. With its old-timey southern charm, casual vibe, and delicious food it makes for the perfect stop when in Leipers Fork. With a walk up and order system I got the fried bologna sandwich, which when you order they'll ask what you want on it. I was not prepared for that question! Luckily the bologna sandwich is so good I dont think it matter what you put on top. Its a large piece of bolonga, which I prefer compared to the thin sliced ons. The fried okra was not my favorite, next time I would opt for the fried pickles. And of course, you have to wash down your meal with a good ol southern sweet tea. read more

This place was amazing. Music was by Rachel Summers and the mood swings. They are freaking amazing. We ordered the pulled pork, white meat, fried chicken, and a fried bologna sandwich. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned just like old-fashioned homeschool chicken. The fried bologna sandwich was awesome, the pulled pork just as good. The mashed potatoes are some of the best I've ever had. The macaroni and cheese were good as well. I tried the collard greens, but I'm not a collard greens fan, but they were tasty. read more

We revisited and I would say that the second experience was not as good as the first. The okra was overfried (or maybe even re-fried), the chicken was dry, and the order only had dark versus white and dark. The service was also not as good this time. We didn't stay for the music this time and it seemed to be starting later than normal (past two times it seemed to start right around noon). If you're passing through, probably still worth the stop but food was definitely not consistent each time. read more

Wow! What an amazing night. We're in town visiting friends and they got us a table for the Fox & Locke open mic night that takes place on Thursdays. It was almost 3 hours of nonstop performances by up and coming musicians with a few old timers thrown in. There's a full bar and table service. I got the quinoa burger which was actually very tasty. The service was very friendly and our drinks were kept fresh all night. But the real magic is getting so see the next generation of super stars on the rise. 18 acts packed into a 3 hour time slot. Each performer played two songs and it was incredible what a well oiled machine the stage production is. Whoever is running the sound board deserves an award! Each act ranged from a single artist on guitar to piano to a full band with three guitars, a bass, and drums plus 4 mics. Every artist sounded crisp and clear, which is impressive when you only have a 2-3 minute transition time between performers. Highlights of the night were Ollee Owens' cover of Etta James and The Bandana Brothers' standing ovation. I don't know if it's always like this, but it felt pretty magical that artists were just dropping into each others' sets with zero rehearsal and, even when they were obviously messing up, it sounded incredible and you could tell they were having a lot of fun. read more

Fox & Locke is a quintessential Tennessee spot for BBQ and southern food. We had an enjoyable lunch here. The parking is wherever you can find it. We made it to the area before 10am and it was already pretty busy. There is a small pay lot across from Bubble Joy if nothing is available on the road. We arrived in between breakfast and lunch so it wasn't crazy busy yet. Live music was about to begin so we also caught a quiet time. You stand in line to order at the counter, get a number, and the food was delivered to the table. We waited about 10 minutes for our food. Tables are situated pretty close together. The employees were all very friendly, especially the employee who took and delivered our order. Each day they offer two meats. Saturdays are Brisket & Pulled Pork. The Brisket was good. I wouldn't put it above the brisket at other well known Nashville bbq spots. The pulled pork was fine, but a little plain. I liked their bbq sauce and the meats did need it. The sides and dessert were my favorite part of the meal. The French fries were crispy, the Cauliflower Casserole was decadent, and the Mac and Cheese had good flavor. The Mashed Potatoes were to die for and definitely like something you'd get at a steakhouse. So creamy and buttery. Yum! The Baked Beans were good. The Pecan Pie was really tasty. It was more on the soupy side since the pecans were on top like a crust. The pie crust was good. It was different than I expected, but great flavor. The pecan ice cream with it was delicious. Go for the live music and a drink (or the cobbler)! It's an experience not to miss out on when visiting Leiper's Fork. The food is traditional southern and average, but nothing outstanding. The bathrooms were really dirty and the cafeteria style food scooping makes for quick service, but saw lots of flies flying around the kitchen. Such a cool, unique, special place. Took my 86 year old mother on a gorgeous Sunday. Leiper's Fork is really cute and beautiful, there is more there than it seems at first glance. Food was ok to good, felt like it could've been at least a little better. I'd give it a 3.5 overall.. The service was good, easy to order and it came out quickly. 4.5 The setting & atmosphere... a perfect 5.0. Inside is great, old school kind of vibe, some great live music that wasn't too loud. We sat outside, what a great spot to eat, drink, converse, relax and watch people and life leisurely go by. Would go back in a heartbeat next time I'm visiting. read more

We had heard that a girls trip to Franklin wouldn't be complete without a jaunt over to Leiper's Fork. SO glad we took the advice! After visiting several of the cute shops we needed food and as we passed F&L, music was pouring out of the place and it drew us in...plus, it was on our list. It was past lunch time and too early for dinner. Went to the counter, options are a meat and 2 or 3, can't remember, and alcohol is purchased at the adjoining bar area. We ordered apps (onion rings - crispy and hot; fried pickles - ditto; and fried ckn strips with fries - ditto again). Listened to the live music, enjoyed watching couples enjoying the band, and two of the cutest little girls going up in front to dance by the band. A Beautiful drive out to Leipers Fork would not be complete without a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. Outdoor patio is a bit too hot for the middle of the day in summer but umbrellas provide shade and it's nice in the evening. Food is served pretty quickly even when it's crowded. read more

You never know who might show up and play! We went to a song writers night this time, which is always good. It's fun to hear the stories behind the songs. Before they played we start off with some drinks, I had an Old Fashioned which was good. On to appetizers, I get a hidden menu item. I order a tray of plain pork rinds, and add some Pimento Cheese to put on them.... Soooo Good! For dinner I got pulled pork, mash potatoes and baked beans. And my friend got The Catfish sandwich. Both were good. Now let's listen to some music. This venue is awesome, small and very intimate. We were at a local distillery and it was suggested that we might want to have lunch @ Fox & Locke - so glad we followed up on it! We both had fried chicken - mine light, Wayne's dark - and it beat out all other amazing southern fried chicken! The outside crisp and flavorful & the meat was sooo tender! Would go again for the food and atmosphere. Atmosphere was fun within a quant and beautiful community country side. They have live music that you have to get tickets for. The food was pretty good. We had meat and 3 daily special, one BBQ, and one catfish. The catfish was really good and crispy. The BBQ pork was moist and pretty good flavor. The bbq sauce helps. The choices of 3 sides were really good, The veggie of day was white beans, and enjoyed the collard greens, mac n cheese, fried okra was really crunchy and sizable, sweet potato fries, and homemade mashed potatoes with the skins I loved. The service was good and they were really fun. My only complaint is cost of 2 Moscow mules in the country-side community. $15 per drink seems a bit steep, but I guess they know they're clientele. read more

They can do better. the pork was very dry, the catfish tasted so off, and you could tell the burger was frozen prior which affected the taste. It was decent for bar food but still pretty bad. If you are there though I recommend the Mac and cheese that was great. read more

I stopped in here for the first time on 8/9 with an out of state friend and a local. We had been out playing tourist all day. We had wanted to visit based on reviews/tik toks we had seen of Leiper Fort. It was a hot day and there were was a lot of people sitting outside, parking was easy and pretty much wherever you could find something. We went in and there were tables to the left and a stage with a bar straight to the back. We only wanted a drink so we went to the bar. A older, blonde female bartender approached us after a few min asking for our order. We didn't see a menu or a sign so we asked and she pointed to menus. I asked "how are you" and apparently that was extremely funny to her and a patron sitting next to me (a plus size man) and she walked off after laughing and never came back for our order. A very nice man came to take our order and tell us about some apps we were looking at too. He even brought out glasses, water, plates and orange for our blue moon. The food that I saw coming out did look good, I would like to try it sometime and get a table, maybe not sit at the bar. It looked like a band was getting setup right as we were leaving late in the afternoon. All in all the deep friend pickle chips were delicious and of course you can't go wrong with blue moon. This venue is tucked away and off the beaten path, but once you've been you know what a gem it is! In Leipers Fork off Old Hillsboro Highway, it hosts some great musicians, from bluegrass to blues to Americana. Tickets are cheap. Parking is easy, big lot plus plenty of street space. $15 food/drink minimum per person, so plan to eat before the show. There isn't a bad seat in the joint and staff is so friendly. Fox and Locke, locally well known, live music venue. In Leiper's Fork. About 40 minutes south of Downtown Nashville. I've been there many times. A unique immersive music experience. I Love it. They offer scheduled evening shows with some impressive acts. Often established artists, young artist who have been on American Idol, The Voice, America's Got Talent. Each Thursday night they host the best open mic in the Nashville area. I've been to most of the others. They're ok but None compare to F&L. Usually have 18 acts with a wide range amazing talents in several genre'. Very supportive culture for the performing artist who play originals and cover popular songs of from well known artist. An amazing atmosphere, efficiently managed and run by an obviously dedicated staff. Food is very good. Fantastic burgers. If you go once, you will likely want to go back. Just reserve tables weeks in advance. They go quick. You can also pay a small cover charge ($8? Not exactly sure) and stand inside. While driving around Tennessee, we came across this restaurant. It is very cute. What you would think you would find on the country side of Tennessee. They had a live band, which was very loud so while they were playing it was very hard to have a conversation. the food was excellent we each hadonion rings fried okra, fried pickles, pulled pork sandwiches. fun place, and they have good appetizers. we ordered the fried pickles and onion rings and they were tasty. nothing too special but they were still good. we didn't have the best service when we were there. when you walk in, there are usually menus sitting there so you can decide on what to order and then go up to the ordering counter. however, there were NO menus sitting on the table to look at so we walked up to the ordering counter and grabbed a menu there. keep in mind there was NO ONE behind us so we were not holding up the line in any way shape or form. the lady at the register was visibly annoyed and was rushing us. saying things like "haven't decided yet?" and other things along those lines and rolling her eyes. we also did not take long to order at all! also, please keep in mind we were nothing but nice to this lady, we said "hi, how are you" and other pleasantries but her attitude was just off and it effected our experience. obviously i know working service is challenging sometimes and i don't expect everyone to be jumping for joy every time they see me, but I don't expect to get treated like i'm a problem when i did nothing to you. still a fun place to go, especially for the live music and i would still recommend this place! read more
