Consistent good food. They have the best fries. New app on the menu- fried green tomatoes and shrimp with remoulade- was very good. Deanna and Susanah were not working tonight, the guy at the bar took good care of us.

Went to 55 south fir a family reunion. We started with the chargrilled oysters, which were delicious and served with large portions of bread. We ordered the NOlA cheesesteak and the mahi Rueben. Both were great. The sangrias are probably the best we have had.

So far so good! Diskin cider to drink. Started with a bowl of gumbo. It was hearty with lotsa chicken and sausage and a shrimp. Tasty! Ordered a Caesar Salad with blackened Mahi Mahi. Patiently waiting for second course...... 55 South is located in a newer area of Brentwood near the nicer of the 2 Hampton Inns. Parking is street so a bit limited. Turf area in front used on weekends for live music I presume. The Caesar salad arrived with a significant piece of blackened Mahi Mahi. The dressing was great and the fish was blackened with the right amount of seasoning. Perfect portion and the croutons were crispy. Good place for drinks and dinner.

Our server was very attentive and was great at explaining the menu offerings and making recommendations. I made my own plate with fried chicken, Caesar salad and red beans. The boneless fried chicken was juicy and moist and my salad was cold and crispy. My husband had a smoked turkey sandwich that was full of flavor.

Ok while in Brentwood Tennessee we wanted lunch so we stopped at 55 South and it didn't disappoint. From the warm welcoming to being shown to our table Jonathan explained the history of the restaurant to Dana and I and made recommendations on their menu. Our waitress came by and we ordered Chicken Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo, then our Entrees Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya, Shrimp & Grits and for Dessert, Beignets. It reminded us when we spent a week in New Orleans everything was as good as we experienced during our stay there. If you haven't been y'all need to stop by for lunch or dinner, it's more than worth the drive. You can also come by Saturdays & Sundays for their Weekend Brunch from 10 am - 2:30 pm. Dana and Steven will be back!

Service was great w Rachael! Decent bar food, also got to watch a few games in the bar. Drinks were good- happy hour stops at 6. My shrimp/fish poboy was excellent- bread was delicious. Broccoli/ cheese- decent, but a bit overdone. I guess I thought it would be a casserole type....I didn't read it correctly. Hot chicken was ok, two were not really fans of the "oil/sauce". Fish tacos were tasty.

We were traveling and found 55 South by a hotel suggestion. You cannot beat how friendly the staff was. We were immediately sat and greeted by the nicest host (Jonathan) and server (Deanna). This is a very cute neighborhood type spot. The menu is pretty diverse and the crab fries were game changing! These fries were a hail Mary order and I'm glad I did. Each dish was perfectly assembled and thoughtful. We had the best visit to 55 South and so glad we stumbled in here for brunch. I would love to come back and try their dinner. Oh, also the prices are pretty reasonable in comparison to other places in Nashville.

The food was great! Fried catfish was amazing 8.5 out of 10. The Red Beans & Rice were good, had to add a pinch of salt but that to be expected, 8 out of 10! The Cesar salad was more of an east coast flavor but the in house made croutons saved the day. 7 out of 10 for me. The service was good but it was slow when I went! The ambiance was cool like a Chillies vibe on the inside! One thing to keep in mind, the Turkey Vultures are patrolling the sky's out side waiting for the left overs lol!!!

    Fried chicken biscuits and gravy!

Fried chicken biscuits and gravy and the huevos ranchero were fantastic. Good drinks and a Bloody Mary bar.

I went to 55 South today, and it was really good! We had the queso and nachos and I loved the chips, but I wish the queso had more brisket in it. Also, I got the fried green tomato bit for my main meal, and I really liked it, it was just really heavy on pimento cheese so I couldn't really taste the fried green tomatoes. Overall, still a really good sandwich. Our waitress was super nice and helpful!

Came here for Sunday brunch and was not disappointed. They had a good selection of apps, brunch and lunch, and drinks. My fav was the Bloody Mary bar and 2 for 1 mimosas. Food was also really tasty and good portions. They even have a little greenway outside with cornhole and picnic tables

We went during an off time (4:30 PM) and we were seated quickly at a dirty table. We waited and waited, no one came to see us for some time. They have a little kiosk at the table which we pushed for service, it blinked red for several minutes and turned itself off. It was at this time we decided we would just go elsewhere, but someone magically appeared at that time and took our order. He did not look like a regular server and we could not figure out what his position actually was at this location. In spite of having an army of servers this was by far the worst service we have had in a long time, maybe ever. The food was decent when it arrived 30 mins later (again it was not busy, no clue why it took so long) but it was quite cool, definitely not hot, and only lukewarm. My daughter went to use the restroom and couldn't because she said it was quite filthy and disgusting and I can't write what she witnessed here. Whomever owns this restaurant should be firing the entire management team and start over. I honestly thought we were being filmed for Kitchen Nightmares -- it was just that bad. They're known for their roast beef but there are so many things that most people want to try so they offer half portions of most of their proteins. The setup is cafeteria style, where you grab a tray and ask each server which item you want. I was completely lost, but the servers were really nice and helped us through the process. The food: 1/2 order of roast beef - this is what they're known for, so if you eat beef, order this one. Tender, very meaty, with tons of jus. Blackened salmon - I'm always skeptical of seafood in a cafeteria setting, but I had a bite of my friend's dish and this was perfectly cooked. Fried Chicken - crispy skin, tender meat, well seasoned. Turnip Greens - flavorful, not mushy Cornbread - solid Desserts - Chess Pie and Pecan Pie - sweet, but as expected. Pretty good Cauliflower hash - very cheesy, could pass for potato hashbrowns but a little drier. It was ok. Creamed corn - way too sweet for my preference Arnold's is a fun time. They paid homage to Masters of the Universe while we were there. The live action movie playing on one TV and the animated series playing on another. There's even a free arcade game emulator out in the front lobby. Arnold's approach to food is no frills. They crank out comfort food that is reminiscent of a home kitchen, in a good way - nothing crazy, just the classics.

Tried the Guac as a starter and it was very good. They added pickled jalapeño and vinegar tomatoes on the side. It truly complemented the flavor. My wife ate it, and she is not a huge Guac fan; so that says a lot for the Guac. Early evening Entrees were chicken parm and I had buffalo chicken sandwiches with fries. House made pickles on the sandwich were ok. Apple slaw was a good compliment to the buffalo chicken. Looks like they used the same breaded chicken that they use on the chicken parm for the buffalo chicken sandwich. Fries were good. Some very very hard and overcooked. Chicken parm was cooked well and the pasta was cooked well. One of my biggest pet peeves when out to dinner anywhere is keeping the drinks filled. No matter what it is, soda, tea, etc. That does not happen here. That would be my only negative take from this place. Other than that, we would definitely suggest checking out this place for lunch/brunch or dinner. They do have live music at night as well if that is your cup of tea. Pricing is a bit higher than some, so be aware that you may pay a little more to eat here, but the food is fresh and the menu is health conscious.

The food was fresh, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was reliable. It felt like a place that took pride in what it did. Over the years, I've watched that standard steadily decline. The facility itself shows signs of neglect. The dining room and patio no longer reflect the quality image the brand promotes. Service has become inconsistent, staff turnover appears high, menu knowledge is often lacking, and food quality varies significantly from visit to visit. The most disappointing change has been the food. Dishes that were once simple and ingredient focused now feel altered, reduced, or unnecessarily substituted. The restaurant's original identity was built on fresh, recognizable ingredients. That identity feels increasingly difficult to find. What concerns me most is that none of these issues appear new. They feel systemic and long standing. That suggests either leadership is unaware of the problems or has chosen to accept them. I'm not angry. I'm disappointed. As a longtime customer, I've reached the point where I no longer recommend this location and rarely choose to visit it. In a market with more dining options than ever, that's not a decision I make lightly. If someone from management or corporate reads this, understand that this review is not coming from a customer who had one bad experience. It's coming from someone who remembers how good this restaurant once was and can clearly see how far it has fallen. Whether that matters is up to you.

Unfortunately, while the food was visually appealing, the quality did not match the presentation. The women serving upfront were ok. I ordered the fried pork chop with turnip greens, mac and cheese, dressing, and a cornbread muffin. The pork chop was heavily battered and overwhelmingly salty, with little flavor beyond salt. The mac and cheese tasted artificial, as though processed cheese was used. The turnip greens were tender but lacked seasoning and tasted as if they had simply been boiled in water. The cornbread muffin was dry, hard, and bland. The dressing was also very disappointing and lacked flavor. Overall, the meal was extremely underwhelming and not representative of good home-style cooking. I was disappointed with both the quality and taste of the food, especially considering the restaurant's branding. After only a few bites, I discarded the meal entirely. Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this restaurant. In my heart of hearts, this place gets zero stars...however, I believe that I have to give at least one star.
