They have a full bar and several uncovered tables outdoors. There is free parking around the restaurant. This is one of the few places in Brentwood that you can get Oysters. Ok while in Brentwood Tennessee we wanted lunch so we stopped at 55 South and it didn't disappoint. From the warm welcoming to being shown to our table Jonathan explained the history of the restaurant to Dana and I and made recommendations on their menu. Our waitress came by and we ordered Chicken Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo, then our Entrees Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya, Shrimp & Grits and for Dessert, Beignets. It reminded us when we spent a week in New Orleans everything was as good as we experienced during our stay there. I frequent this place and have never had an issue before, but my most recent experience was honestly pretty embarrassing. My fiancée and I stopped in for a drink and to place a to-go order, and the bartender questioned whether we were of age. That's understandable, but after showing valid IDs, they still weren't convinced and brought the manager over. We also showed photos of our passports, and the manager still said he didn't trust our IDs and refused to serve us. He even mentioned he didn't know how to read out-of-state IDs, which was surprising. I completely understand businesses being careful, but the way this was handled felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, especially as repeat customers. We were traveling and found 55 South by a hotel suggestion. You cannot beat how friendly the staff was. We were immediately sat and greeted by the nicest host (Jonathan) and server (Deanna). This is a very cute neighborhood type spot. The menu is pretty diverse and the crab fries were game changing! These fries were a hail Mary order and I'm glad I did. Each dish was perfectly assembled and thoughtful. We had the best visit to 55 South and so glad we stumbled in here for brunch. I would love to come back and try their dinner. The food was great! Fried catfish was amazing 8.5 out of 10. The Red Beans & Rice were good, had to add a pinch of salt but that to be expected, 8 out of 10! The Cesar salad was more of an east coast flavor but the in house made croutons saved the day. 7 out of 10 for me. The service was good but it was slow when I went! I went to 55 South today, and it was really good! We had the queso and nachos and I loved the chips, but I wish the queso had more brisket in it. Also, I got the fried green tomato bit for my main meal, and I really liked it, it was just really heavy on pimento cheese so I couldn't really taste the fried green tomatoes. We went to 55 South on a Friday evening. We were able to get a 4 top in the bar area. The service was very good. Our waitress came quickly and took our drink order. The drinks were very good and reasonably priced. We ordered smoked wings which were very good. We also tried the gumbo which was good as well. 55 South. My favorite brunch spot in all of the Nashville area! This was my first time at the Brentwood location, and it was just as great as my favorite downtown Franklin location. This location, parked right out front. So easy! Menu was the same, so I ordered my go-to favorite item... garlic crab fries! Absolutely delicious. They are crisp, rich, but sweet with the crab and perfectly salty with the Parmesan. Great hit of garlic and I of course top mine with a splash of hot sauce. Yum yum! Friend got the hot chicken sandwich and her son got the chicken tenders off the kids menu. He literally kept asking me for scoops of the crap topping to put on his chicken. Safe to say everyone loves the garlic crab fries :) We ordered the donuts for dessert and they came out perfectly hot and fresh. Not too sweet and just the right amount of chew.
