They wouldn't have this high of a rating - and I definitely wouldn't have hired them if the reviews were a reflection of what it is like to actually work with this company. It's been an over a month and they are still calling me to try to bully me into removing my review. I had to block them. Update 5.24.26 - our deck is peeling and needs to be completely redone. Hiring this company was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made as a homeowner. They didn't show up when they said they would -- multiple times. Not only did they fail to arrive as promised, they also didn't bother to call and let me know. I rearranged my schedule and even took two full days off work so I could be home for them to complete tasks that required my presence, and they didn't even do the work. That alone shows a complete lack of respect for their customers' time. When they finally did show up, the quality of the work was horrendous. Instead of taking the time to tape off or remove hardware from our deck, they just painted right over it. They left paint on my windows, killed plants, and left overspray on multiple surfaces that should never have been touched. To make matters worse, the product they used on the deck allows the natural knots in the wood to bleed through, leaving the finished result looking blotchy, unfinished, and downright atrocious. I've had to call them back several times to fix sloppy mistakes, yet issues still aren't resolved. Their crews clearly rush, cut corners, and show no pride in their work. Customer service has been dismissive, unprofessional, and completely unwilling to take real responsibility. After all of this, their idea of compensation was a measly $200 credit for the damage and disruption -- an insulting gesture compared to the cost, stress, and time I've lost. This company lacks professionalism, accountability, and basic respect for customers. If you value your time, your property, and your sanity, do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs.

After having Drew and his crew successfully paint the exterior of our home last spring (2025), we…read morehired them again in October 2025 to refinish our deck and railings. It was important to us to have the work done before the winter, however, because the weather had been rainy and was getting colder, we expressed concern about timing and relied on Drew's professional judgment. If the work needed to wait until spring, that was okay. He assured us the conditions were acceptable and that the work would hold up, but if a few areas needed attention after winter, he would return to 'touch up'. Initially, the deck looked good, and we paid in full. Unfortunately, within just a few weeks, the paint began peeling and flaking off across the entire deck and railings. The attached pictures show the deck less than 6 months after the work was completed.  Although most of the deck had been previously painted, there were several areas where boards had been replaced.  The paint is not adhering to any of it.  As a result, we are now left with a severely deteriorated deck after paying for what we believed would be a professional job. Since raising these concerns shortly after completion, Drew has been unwilling to return to inspect the work or discuss how to make it right.  At this point, he has stopped responding altogether. The condition of our deck is terrible, and we've had multiple neighbors and visitors ask what happened. While it's embarrassing, we've been honest with them about both the quality of the work and the lack of follow-through.  Drew is dismayed we shared our experience with them and has informed us that based on our sharing, our relationship is over. He will not return to discuss or remedy in any way. In hindsight, this experience mirrors a negative review we previously read which Drew dismissed when we first hired him. We trusted his explanation of that review at the time (difficult client), but unfortunately, we now find we should have trusted the review and gone another way. We are disappointed to have to warn other locals...buyer beware.

I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy…read more We decided to go with Ellison because we had a large job and the salesperson, Marc, seemed professional. However, when it came time to do our job, it was a different story. We were assigned a crew led by Tony, who apparently had never worked with Ellison before. The first day, Tony told us if we had any issues we should speak with him first and not contact Ellison. This was our first red flag. Over the next few days, we learned that the crew included the 14 year-old daughter of one of the painters and several other family members and when we mentioned this to Tony, he responded with something like, I was wondering why there were so many people here, but I can't complain about free labor. We voiced our concerns with Allison, our project manager from Ellison, but she said she had faith in the crew and to give them a chance. Our job was estimated to take 4-5 days, but after day 3, they hadn't completed the prep work and the quality of work was unacceptable. Screw pops had not been repaired at all, there were holes in the wall that had been painted over with no patching, trim work was splotchy and there were brush strokes everywhere. It was definitely not what we expected given the price we were paying for the work and the promise of "professional painters." At this point, we contacted Allison again and asked her to come inspect the job. She arrived the next morning and decided to send the crew home indicating that we would have to get another crew. We were unhappy with that option because we had stressed the importance of the job being completed on schedule since we were having people over the following weekend. The new crew began the following Monday and it ultimately took them 6 additional days to complete the job. The quality of their work was better, but due to the rushed nature of the rework, there were still plenty of areas that needed to be redone including baseboards that were not painted to the floor, holes that needed to be patched and sanded, light fixtures with paint on them and sloppy work in a bathroom that has since began to peel because it was not primed properly. In addition to all of this, the paint crew got droplets of paint all over our new wood floors, damaged a kitchen barstool, and made a 12" scratch in our floor. Ellison offered us a discount and hired a floor cleaner to try and make the situation right, but ultimately, they could not remove the paint from the cracks in the floors. We decided to pay the discounted bill because we were exhausted with the whole process and just wanted to be done with this horrific experience, but I would never work with them again or recommend them to anyone. The process was extremely frustrating and it's clear that Ellison is a marketing company that subtracts all of their painters. Though they attempted to solve our issues with customer service, it was too little to make up for the unprofessional paint job and shoddy work. Ellison is certainly not worth their premium price tag. Finding a skilled, honest, and trustworthy contractor these days can feel impossible, but we were…read morelucky enough to find Claudio. As first-time homeowners, we had a rough experience with another company that refinished our floors. After removing the carpeting from our stairs, they were left noticeably noisy, but the company went ahead and refinished them anyway without giving us a heads-up--leaving us no opportunity to explore other options for addressing the issue. On top of that, they left stain all over our trim, doors, and walls. We were frustrated and disappointed--until Claudio came in and made everything right. He meticulously added shoe molding throughout our entire upstairs, prepping, priming, and painting all the trim to perfection. On our staircase, he installed cove molding, carefully nailing it into place to help with the noise while also covering the gap between the treads and risers for a more seamless look. He then prepped, primed, and painted the risers and stringers, giving the staircase a beautifully finished appearance. He even went above and beyond, covering the stain left behind on our walls and doors, making everything look fresh and cohesive again. Claudio is not just incredibly skilled at his craft--he's also professional, hardworking, and truly cares about the quality of his work. He's fairly priced and willing to work with you if needed, which we really appreciated. He was so trustworthy that we felt completely comfortable giving him a key to our home while we were at work. Now, thanks to Claudio, we are proud to show off our home, and the results speak for themselves (check out the before & after photos attached!). Unfortunately, Google erased Claudio's well-earned reviews, so we're more than happy to share our experience and recommend him wholeheartedly. However, don't necessarily expect them to listen to everything you request. I requested thresholds for the bedrooms. It was in the quote & therefore my contract. It was in the installers instructions. The installers said they would install them on second day. However, they were not installed. When requested thresholds to be delivered to me, stained, so I could install them, the response back I received was no we would rather not, but if you want them at a later date, we will do it. Yes they took the thresholds off the invoice. But that's not the point. If you tell the customer we can do that, but decide you don't want to do that, then why did you tell me in the first place? And if you forgot to do that task, why not make it right and complete the task?

An employee came out numerous times to check the moisture level on the baseboard to ensure that it was dry enough to lay a new floor. When it came time to lay the floor, the employee showed up on-time and ready to work. He was courteous, professional and very respectful of our home. He was knowledgeable about the products and took the time to answer our questions. And I love that it was a low-voc finish he used. We didn't get the heavy toxic fumes you usually get with a floor finish. Beautiful.

CertaPro of Troy won the bid by price and primarily how well we thought the company would complete the job. Their work was more than outstanding from start to finish including clean-up. In addition, they completed the job sooner than expected. By the 3rd day of the project we had a great looking kitchen. CertaPro of Troy has our highest recommendation.
