I'm from the UP and recently bought a 2022 Explorer from Fox in Kentwood. Keith Rock was extremely patient and so knowledgeable. He took his time to explain everything and gave me plenty of options. His sense of humor was great and made the whole experience worth the 7-hour drive. The financial manager, Maninderpal Singh, was also excellent. He helped with the license transfer and thoroughly explained the warranty and paint protection plan. I got an oil change on Monday and Thursday night my car started leaking oil pretty heavily. I left my apartment, made a stop, and when I came out I noticed something leaking under the car. I parked the car in the parking lot of my apartment building rather than in my garage. When I opened the garage door, there were large drops of oil leading to a large puddle. I checked my oil in the morning and there was no oil on the dipstick. I noticed fresh oil around the top of the oil filter. I called Fox Ford, and talked to Mitch. I told him about the situation and after checking with the manager, he came on and told me they would send someone out to look at it, assess it, and then add oil so I could drive it to the shop. About 20 minutes later two guys showed up, checked the oil filter, and there was no gasket on it. They replaced the oil filter, added oil, and then one of the guys drove it to the shop. Chris, a manager, called me later and apologized profusely. He said they did another complete oil change and cleaned it all off. He apologized again and told me he was giving me a coupon for a free complete oil change and tire rotation. The two guys then brought the car back to me. They brought some disposable pads and a cleaner and cleaned up my garage floor and the pavement in the parking lot. Now THAT'S customer service! I was so impressed. I don't fault them at all for the mishap. Things happen. It's more about how a business handles it once they find out about the situation and Fox Ford gets an A+! read more

This trip to the dealership proved everything can go wrong and will. My vehicle had 2 open recalls and the battery wasn't holding a charge. I also asked them to check the air in the tires. 4 things. One recall was done One recall needed to have the parts ordered. The tires ended up with 4 different pressures @31,32,33,34 which I corrected across the street at a tire shop. And I received a new battery and to help with the electrical problem, NEW WIPER blades for $39.90 plus tax I understand that not all mechanics can read a tire gauge but I failed to understand why new wiper blades were needed to correct my charging problem. Nor did anyone check the order before I was called, nor was I allowed to check the order before I paid. Thus I had to go back back to the dealership, explain to the cashier who then went and explained to the service writer, who then asked me to bring the order and show him, who then wrote a note on my order to take back to the cashier, who then gave me a credit on my card. My husband and I bought a new Ford Explorer Platinum, a $50,000 car, early Sept 2020. In these past five months, it's been in the shop three times, twice for electrical malfunction and just recently for transmission failure. I was notified that my vehicle was fixed so I went to get it today. It wouldn't start. The service guy said it must've not liked sitting out in the cold. I'm thinking "what is it, an old grandma?" Shouldn't a brand new car be able to withstand conditions common to all vehicles in the north? Are you telling me that my new tough Ford Explorer can't handle 10 degree weather? That I should be ok with the fact that my 50k car isn't reliable in the bitter cold while I'm transporting my grandkids around town? If I look like a clueless 60 y/o lady, you've got a surprise coming. Later the service guy tells me that I'm lucky that this didn't happen while I was out running errands. I replied, "this is the way I see it...YOU'RE lucky that this didn't happen elsewhere to my brand new car that is only five months old. I'm a very nice lady but I'm not a pushover. And I'm relentless when I'm mad. And I'm really mad right now." ...all said in a low, patient, calm voice. So, I drove away in the loaner car. Original review 3/26/19 I am sitting at my desk the second week after the promised due date for my collision repair. I had a fender-bender with some small cosmetic damage and a broken taillight. I made an appointment to drop the car off for repair. It took three weeks to wait for the appointment. When dropping off the car, I was told it would take "about a week." After one week, I started calling. I was told "the parts weren't there yet." (Then why did I wait four weeks for an appointment?) I was told it was "done with painting and waiting for re-assembly." I was told it was waiting for detailing. I was told--today--that it was "waiting for wash and inspection." I'm now well over a week past my promised delivery date. It's 3:08 pm and I still don't have my truck. Today's answer was "I'm not sure I can get it for you by tomorrow?" (Yesterday, they PROMISED me "tomorrow!") Think I'll get a call back this afternoon? These delays are costing me money. I use my truck for work-related jobs. I currently cannot return a load of materials that I'm renting, as I cannot fit them in a borrowed sedan. I can only imagine how much this would be costing me if I was renting a replacement vehicle. The mendacity of this collision shop has been palpable. I hope their repairs are as good as their lies. I did originally buy my car somewhere else, BUT I always go to Fox Ford Mazda's Express service for my oil changes. Every time I go they are beyond helpful. I just went there and I had wiper blades sitting in my car that I was going to put on later and they called while I was gone and offered to put them on for me! At no extra cost! They also give me a heads up if there's something else I should keep an eye on that might need to be done to maintain my vehicle ahead of time so I can prepare for a potential cost down the road. I've also gone to them to replace parts of my car and they are always up front and honest with me about the potential cost and then if it does end up costing less it's a pleasant surprise. Had a good experience in the Express Service side of things this week. Kevin was helpful in diagnosing and ordering the part I needed on my Escape. He quoted me $168 for parts and labor. Upon returning to have the new part installed, I also asked for an oil change, as I was only a few hundred shy of being due. Total out the door cost for it all came out to $171, he was able to save me a few bucks by having some clips and washers on hand, leftover from a previous job. I'll be back! read more

This review is about their Service Department. I went for an oil change and tire rotation on Saturday and I got there a half hour after they had opened. There was car parked at the garage door but I was not sure where to go. I parked my car and went in and when I asked, the manager was extremely rude and treated me like an idiot for not knowing what to do. They have no signs stating this either. I finally got in and was told by the guy who waved me in to go see the manager about what services are needed. I did and got yelled at (along with another person) to go stand by our cars and he would come to us when he was ready. After he finally came out and took all my info I went and sat down and waited. I waited maybe 15 - 20 minutes and he told me he just had to finish up my paperwork and he would be ready to check me out. While I was waiting, another guy came in for service and apparently they needed to order parts or something so he left or waited (his car was still there but he wasn't). The manager called me up and as soon as I got to the counter he started complaining about the guy who came in because he has apparently told him before that they needed to order parts. It was very uncomfortable. I paid and they walked me to my car and I left. Also, we are in a pandemic and masks are required and the manager was the only person in that shop wearing a mask. If anyone else had a mask on it was around their chin or hanging from their ear. Even when they cam into the office where customers were standing they did not put one on. None of them have any reason they cannot wear one. To summarize: The service it self was wonderful. They did what I asked and I was in and out very quickly. The customer service was atrocious and there is a clear lack of care for COVID guidelines and customer safety. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Fox Ford. I had been out car shopping for hours in the 95° heat and humidity, and I was getting pretty tired after visiting three dealerships that had barely any inventory to show me. I was about to quit looking for the day, but fortunately I discovered Fox Ford on my way home! I pulled up and Keith Rock greeted me in the parking lot, listened very attentively to what I wanted, asked great questions to help me narrow it down, then pulled up several vehicles (from their much larger inventory than other dealerships) that fit my price range and description. Keith was friendly, helpful, non-pushy, and he really seemed to care more about my needs than his commission, because he didn't try to talk me into the most expensive option. I can't give Keith enough stars. Oh yeah, and the finance guy, Manu, was equally amazing. So fast and helpful! I was out of the financing and on my way in about 10 minutes. read more

I called Fox Mazda service department regarding audio system in my 2013 Mazda CX 5. The radio stopped working when I tried to jump start the car (battery was dead). I was told I would need a new radio and was promised a call back with a quote on that. Never got a call back so I called again and was again told (sight unseen) that there was a 99.9% chance I needed a new radio (complete with back up camera, Bluetooth, etc). $500 plus estimate. I decided to get a second opinion and had the guys at Extreme Audio (Grand Rapids) look at it. In half an hour, I was happily driving out of their driveway with complete use of the radio! And they only had to replace the fuse! ($37 instead of $500) Just a heads up here. This dealer was no friend of mine even though I bought the car brand new off the showroom floor. Very Poor experience today. Service advisor was not realistic at all as I was just about to be out of warranty on $70,000 truck miles wise @ 35925 miles (1 of 8 that I have). He would not start a work order to document I was in making an appointment and didnt even want to hear what list of things I needed on my brand new truck! I was going to go look at a new one or maybe even a couple but I will not ever return to this dealer for any service. My daughter had a vehicle in the body shop that was a story from he**. I am a shop owner and fleet truck purchaser and will not even ever look at a new truck here again because of the rude service advisor. read more

Brought my car in because I got rear ended at a light and also for a rust issue. The rust repair cost was covered under my Hyundai paint warranty because it was a new car at the time. They did a decent job on the damage from the accident however I did notice that in certain light that the paint doesn't match up with the rest of my car. Also I ran into a lot of similar issue other people had such as communication. They told me to use this app on my phone to get updates on my car however it never once was updated. After about 1 1/2 weeks I called up and the receptionist told me it was about done and that they just needed to detail the car and to call back the next day. When I called back the next day another person answered and told me that they hadn't even started on my vehicle. Eventually they called and told me that my car was ready after about 2 1/2 weeks. When I went there to pick it up they just handed me the keys and pointed to where it was parked, they didn't walk me around or show me what they had done. When I got into the car another thing that struck me as off is that I keep interior cleaning wipes in my car and I always have them in the truck but when I got in I saw that they were thrown in the passenger seat like they had just used my wipes to half ass clean the interior. It appeared that they did a good job fixing the rust initially, they told me they were going to sand everything down and treat it and repaint it. However I recently noticed that the rust issue is back in the same two spots as before only bigger.This is about 10 months later. I went to Hyundai dealer again and they told me to take it back to this place because they fixed it incorrectly. When I talked to the receptionist on the phone she told me that they don't warranty the repair and that even if this issue came back after 3 weeks that they wouldn't cover it because its "Michigan". Even though when I initially talked to the manager about the issue he made no mention of this not being guaranteed. He made it sound like it was no big deal to fix and that they're wouldn't be any issues further on. Also I know this is Michigan but I bought my car new 2 years ago and this issue was "fixed" 10 months ago it should not come back that quickly. Especially with how small the rust spots were when they initially got fixed. read more

It was okay that I pick it up on the 10th. as I was flying out on the 4th. Showed up on the 10th and they just started the work The manager said for the inconvenience they would deliver my car agtrr 4:30, never happened. Went back on the 11th. I called them 5 times over the day to check in and never got a diagnoses as promised by the end of the day. They lost track of my car, "not in the computer" "Are you sure you took it here?" From 9:30am to 3:30 it didn't even get put in line to get looked at. I Retold all the information 4 times. Day 2: No calls back again. I was given the wrong "service providers" name to leave him a message, who didnt call back. When I called back I was told there was no time to asses it again day 2. I had a car repaired after a fender bender. When I got it back, I thought I noticed a paint mismatch, and it was explained as lighting. A couple days later, the bumper popped out away from the body on both sides. I noticed a orange peel texture where a dent was earlier. It took them a week to make time to redo it (it took 2 weeks to do it the first time), and once they had it to re-do, it took another 7 business days. When I got it back the second time, boy, those tires were shiny... but the Armor All overspray all over the fenders wasn't cool. They failed to clean up the fenders of their adhesives/waxes. They screwed up the repair, don't apologize, re-do it and then do a shoddy job on the basic things. Again, no apology when we picked it up. Poor attention to detail. Poor customer service. Take your body shop business elsewhere. read more

I should have read the reviews prior to choosing this place. After a family member did some damage to the front of my vehicle I brought it to Fox Ford to have the body damage repaired. The customer service is reprehensible. They provided me with very little information and never called to tell me it was finished. I finally called a week later to find out that had been finished. No one walked around the vehicle with me to show me what had been done. I got the car home and noticed there was new damage (a dent and a gauge) to the vehicle. Fortunately, my insurance adjuster had taken pictures prior to the repairs so I could prove the damage happened at the shop. No one told me it happened (although someone must have been aware that they did it). I called to report and and again - the customer service is the worst. I left two messages for the manager (as my insurance guy suggested) that were NEVER returned. They (reception) told me to bring in the vehicle. So I did. Again, rude service. I made an appointment to bring the car back again (this is not a short drive for me) based around my husband's days off. We had to get help from friends shuffelling kids to school, etc. David Wilson made the appointment and said to drop it off Wednesday, pick it up Thursday before 6. When I dropped it off on Wednesday I confirmed with the horrible woman at the front desk (who had her child at work with her screwing around with the phone so she clearly wasn't focused on her job) - "I just pick it up tomorrow before 6?". She said yes. My husband was going to take an uber to pick the car up on Thursday but I just felt like I needed to call to make sure. I called on Thursday afternoon. They were just getting started on the car. No one called me to tell me there was a delay so that we could make other arrangements. No one apologized. This was damaged that THEY caused. All I got was "I don't know what to tell you". I finally picked my car up today. This business is the worst. They don't answer the phones. They don't care about their customers. They clearly don't care about repeat business. They damaged my car while it was there to be fixed. This was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Absolutely no culpability whatsoever. No one even apologized or took responsibility for the damage to my car!! **My final phone calls today were with Veronica. She was the only person who actually apologized for my experience and called me back. There was a constant let me go ask my manager about this and that without straight up answers. If I could give 0 starts for the service department at this location, I would. My husband and I have been to this dealership 5 times now for service repairs ranging from small oil changes to issues with the AC unit in one our our cars. Every time we have visited there has been something wrong, whether it's with their lack of communication or their poor service in general, but our recent visit was the last straw for this place. We dropped my husband's car off for them to fix his AC unit and it took them almost 2 full days to fix it. They left the car in the parking lot for us to just come quickly pick it up and I didn't take a look in the car right away until I got home only to realize the back AC unit panel was still completely detached and torn apart sitting in the back seat so now my husband and I will need to finish the work we thought was already taken care of. This dealership was good in communication and willingness to make a same day test drive yet it went mostly downhill when we arrived. We were greeted at the door and told to go wander by the vehicle. We then were out on the lot for a good 10+ minutes without any service, even thought we had an appointment. Then when brought inside it took about 15-20 minutes for the salesman to even pay attention to the fact we were sitting in his office. Seemed like he was willing to answer any question someone else had in the office, but pay attention to us. He was willing to negotiate price on a trade a bit, but was not very helpful in making us feel welcome or important. read more
